As always, the service is impeccable at Morton's. This was a birthday dinner, so my dessert was comped. They also send the hostess over to take a photo of the table, then bring two copies in a very nice Morton's Steakhouse photo holder with a Happy Birthday message. I will say that my steak was a bit overcooked, but not enough to send it back.

Stopped by here with my mother and brother while visiting my brother in Fort Knox. Although it's a steakhouse, I opted for the broiled salmon fillet and was extremely satisfied with my choice. Simple, yet very delicious and well-portioned salmon with steamed veggies on the side. Service is excellent and above normal standards. The food is worthy of the price.

Excellent food with atmosphere. The service goes above and beyond normal expectations.

Good as it gets for a steak. I mean absolutely fantastically amazing steak. Had the bone on RIbeye. Amazing. The sides were a bit dissapointing. Just regular ol ho hum food. One thing interesting about the sides is that they are big enough to share and they actually encourage it. Pretty cool as sides are upwards of $10 a piece and everything is al a cart. Go for a steak and split a salad and you won't be dissapointed.

Reservations are highly recommended but there are a few tables in the bar area that are first come first serve. You can't go wrong with the filet which is always great and perfectly prepared. The service is top notch and everything there is worth every penny. The total bill was $250 with tip for two with app, entree, desert and wine but well worth the price for that special occasion. With close proximity to the Kentucky Center and museums, this is excellent stop for an evening in downtown Louisville.

Dined at Morton's recently for the first time and was completely unimpressed. My fiancé and I are big fans of high-end steakhouses, and Mortons, while they served good quality beef, just didn't do it for us. The prices are quite high, even more so than would be expected for the type of place it is, our server was incredibly bland and not quite the type of server you expect at this type of establishment. I ordered a filet rare and lobster tail, and my filet came out barely brown on the top and bottom, and red on even the outside. I've had many many filets just as rare on the inside with a good crust on the outer top and bottom, and the edges browned as well. Maybe their ovens just weren't at a high enough temperature. My lobster bisque was lukewarm too. The twice baked cheese potato side was quite bland and unappealing. Also, the soufflé here is served with a cold whipped cream type topping, not the usual warm sauce poured over the top. The lemon soufflé was not good at all, the grand marnier soufflé was decent other than the weird topping. Overall, we will not be going back. For over $250 for 2 with no alcohol, we deserve to have an impeccable experience and ours absolutely was not.

This is the best Morton's that I've visited. They actually showed us all of the cuts of meat (uncooked) and explained what each one was. The seafood appetizer was fit for a king and the dessert soufle was absolutely yummy.

Fantastic customer service. My wife has a nut/peanut allergy so it makes it difficult to eat out. Contacted Lisa and she arranged for all the nut products to be made the day before so there wouldn't be any cross contamination. The server, chef and hostess knew about the allergy when we walked in. One item we questioned and the chef brought out the contained to show us the ingredients. Shrimp and steak was outstanding. Sides were ok but who cares about the sides when you get a bone in filet that was one of the best steaks I've ever had.

Say what you want but Morton's is in my opinion one of the best steakhouses in Louisville. I won't say that I have been to every one that is here but I've been to a lot and Morton's is always right on par with the best and often beats some of the others on price. My husband and I are creatures of habit. We have things that we love and will often order the same things at different restaurants. I say this because we ordered the exact same meals at both Morton's and Ruth Chris and our bill at Morton's was 50 dollars before tip cheaper. I also find Morton's food to be much better. I have never gotten a poorly cooked steak at Morton's and their mashed potatoes are some of the best I've had. I love that they fix them up with butter sour cream and bacon right at your table. Morton's is also home to my favorite salad. The chopped salad is awesome. Probably the best chopped salad I've ever had. As for the servers bringing the tray with the different cuts of meat around to show, I know that's not appealing to everyone but in response to the reviewer who says everyone knows what the different cuts I meat look like that is definitely false. As a chef I am plenty familiar with the cuts but I know plenty of people who find this helpful. All in all you're missing out if you don't give Morton's a try!

Morton's and Capital Grill are the 2 high-end chains that hubs and I frequent in various cities. From NYC to San Fran and numerous points in between, we have dined at a Morton's. So, when faced with dinner options for us + another couple while visiting L-ville last month, Morton's was a no-brainer. True to form, service was impeccable, somelier was knowledgeable, and the environs were comfy. Hubs and I split the lobster and filet mignon special while the other couple each ordered filets done their way. I requested au poivre sauce on the side - delish! - and the table split au gratin potatoes, steamed broccoli and a lovely Cote du Rhone. Everyone was pleased with their meal and declared the dinner a success. This kind of consistency is why Morton's draws us in time after time.

I have eaten at Morton's on numerous occasions in may cities, primarily for business dinners (restaurant industry crowd ) and have always viewed them as masters of execution and theatre when it comes to the steak house category. They command a (significant) premium price as they are viewed as giving a feeling of a special event and elevated personal service that moves them above the rest of the crowd. On this visit however (with a booking made 1 - 2 weeks ahead) we were asked to wait 15 minutes at the host stand with 10 other people as the bar was completely full and getting a drink to pass the time near impossible. When finally seated service was mainly efficient and effective although the presentation of the meat and seafood choices that I have always seen before was missing; perhaps this goes when they are over busy? All dishes were well received although one of our 3 diners steak was overcooked significantly. The atmosphere however was beyond frenetic; with the noise level, party sizes, hyperactive kids and probably convention crowds making conversations difficult to have and waiters hard to grab due to the full occupancy. Unfortunately it all ended up feeling that we might as well have been dining in an Applebees or a TGIF. That sounds snobbish, but is not intended to be (I eat at the Bambi Bar the night before and it was great). If you pay nearly $400 with tip for a meal for 3 you need to come away feeling you have had your monies worth and it was a special occasion; that was certainly not the case here. If Morton's wants to justify its high prices its going to need to address its ambiance and service to better meet expectations; until this location changes and feels less of a over booked chain diner focussed solely on driving transactions and maintaining high ticket averages at the expense of service and ambiance I for one, and my guests won't be going back.

Overrated. I don't understand how Morton's keeps in business with Ruby's down the street and Ruth's Chris in town. Morton's costs more than Ruth's Chris and the quality just is not there. Ruby's makes the Morton's chain look like some sort of sick overpriced joke. Here are some things I don't like about Morton's in the ville: 1. It's in a basement (creepy) 2. It's vastly overpriced. Prime meat is prime meat. Why does it cost more than RC's? 3. Why do they bring that tray? Havent we all been to the grocery store? I know what the different cuts of beef look like. Gimmicky for the price point. 4. Service was average, and server didn't have a great personality. Score one more point for Ruby's. 5. Steak was just nothing memorable. I've had many steaks that taste better for the price, and none as bland. $225 for 2 is too much for what I received. Jeff Ruby's trumps this place e'eryday all day.

I've been on here for years and NEVER written a review. This place is so ridiculously ran though, I could not be idle about it. Do NOT GO THERE! The most unimpressive, poorly managed "High End" Steak House I've EVER been to! I've seriously had better steak in airports. We arrived with a fun, family oriented group to celebrate. Our server's seemed untrained, unprofessional and unqualified, which would be... at least somewhat acceptable if the food was half as good as any of the myriad of good steakhouses in this town. The food was not of chef quality and I am doubtful the steak was actually "Prime". It was about a 3/4 inch thick Kroger like grade A corn fed steak that you will pay a premium price for. We are sophisticated, experienced diners. Bad food and service (although there certainly COULD be other good waiters there, our's were just horrible). We were also the largest group there on a relatively slow night. About 50% occupancy, 1 of 2 banquet rooms in use. The manager never came out to Manage and in fact did not reveal himself at all till it was a total FAILURE. In my experience, manages at this caliber of establishment like to watch over their "crown jewel" of the evening as far as who is spending the big money. They were more than happy to just chalk up an Auto Gratuity (again which I'm completely fine with when it's not Applebee's quality food and service; i.e. auctioning, people waiting for food for 3-5 minutes whiles others have their's but wait and thus their meal gets cold, then receiving food and having no fork, long periods of DRY water and Wine glasses etc...) Upon talking this over with the manager, he presented no solutions and took no accountability for his embarrassing wait staff and sub par eats at point it became abundantly clear WHERE the problem was... right before us. MUCH better option at other also corporately owned (or LOCAL) options here in town. How they are still open is just a mystery! I will never to a Morton's again, anywhere.

I've only eaten at the Louisville location twice, and I take advantage of the 2 can dine for $99. Though the special has changed a tad through the years (they always have it), it essentially consists of 2 salads, 2 single cut filets, 2 seafood dishes chosen from 3 choices, a potato, a vegetable, and 2 deserts. They used to do 2 potatoes and 2 vegetables. You can also upgrade your steak for like $8 per person. I sometimes upgrade to a double cut, even though I shouldn't, hehe. The verdict: The steak here is actually better than the ones I used to get at the Morton's of Chicago IN Chicago. Absolutely worth enjoying. Compared to Ruth's Chris and Jeff Ruby's in terms of steak, I would be just as happy eating at Morton's and it might be more affordable. The service is phenomenal, but I do give the atmosphere/decor award to Jeff Ruby's. But, unlike Jeff Ruby's, I have always been satisfied with the temperature of my steak here.

Carnivores we are! Wow all I can say is "WHAT A D**M good steak! Was there last month for work. A vendor took us to dinner and as always Morton's delivers!. Class, elegance, experience all wrapped up in a wonderful 14 ounce ribeye. Service was phenomenal. Food even better. Gotta love steakhouse sides!

I am so disappointed on so many levels with Mortons, that I'm writing my first restaurant review ever, because I can't imagine that all of these positive reviews are real. First, we arrived without a reservation to an nearly empty restaurant but we were told that we couldn't be seated until 9:15 unless we wanted to sit in the bar. After we had called a nearby steakhouse and made a reservation the hostess came up to us and said that she was able to find us a seat. (even by the time we left, the restaurant never actually filled up) I ordered my filet medium rare, but it served medium. They apologized and sent it back and came out with a new steak. The manager asked me to make sure that it was cooked to my liking while she watched. I cut into it and it was seriously undercooked. They agreed. they took the same steak back and cooked it a little more, and it was still more on the rare side than medium rare, but edible--though after that long of a wait I had filled up on the mediocre side items and the salads that came before. They ended up comping the steak, but the total for two still came to $141.00, which made us feel like we were ripped off for the quality of the food and the experience. We eat out at nice restaurants often, so this wasn't a super special occasion for us. The clientele seemed a little low end, like they were all here for some special occasion and trying to show off for their date. They bring all of the raw meat out saran wrapped and show you the cuts of meat and the raw vegetables. Yes, I understand what food looks like before you cook it. The servers basically recite the entire menu to you and try to up sell you every bit of the way. It seemed cheesy and felt like a chain. Definitely not worth it. Try Jeff Ruby's if you want a great steak with a great experience.

Morton's is a fine steakhouse with very fine service standards. I've eaten here on several occasions with my very large extended family.

It is a chain that started in Chicago. Fantastic steaks but the bill looked like a government contract. I think food gives a certain amount of pleasure and I am only willing to pay up to a certain threshold.

I took my husband here for his 50th birthday. It was a total surprise and what a treat! We loved the whole going downstairs to the dark basement- that sounds bad but it's actually quite intimate in setting. I had made reservations and when we got there we were led to a nice cozy half moon booth. Our server, Grace, was very good at her job. She was a perfect server. Always present yet not overbearing. She made great suggestions and had lively stories to tell without being too much in our space. Because they knew it was my husbands bday they printed a menu for him and took a photo for us which they printed and gave to us. Now the food.... Excellent! Unbelievable! We both got the filet Oscar and we shared horseradish mashed potatoes. My husband kept saying that he has never had such creamy potatoes:) They ended the night with a complimentary lemon souflèe Oh I forgot to mention they make a pretty good bourbon Manhattan;) Now all this excellent food and service comes at a price. It's not cheap to dine at Morton's, but you get what you pay for. It's definitely a special occasion kinda place ( for us anyways), but so worth the splurge. We will be back for sure!

We had a gift certificate and decided to give Morton's a try (Late May 2015 Saturday night around 7). Although, the staff was great, the ambiance and food quality is sorely lacking. Hard push by the waiter to upgrade to supper premium liquor was annoying. Although the waiter was very good otherwise. I had the steak, no sear, crab was straight from the can and cold, although the steak was perfectly cooked to temperature - medium rare, pink on the inside. Mrs Sea B had the sea bass, tasted old, a little too strong, however, again cooked perfectly. We split the lobster mac and cheese. The lobster was "bad" old, something, we had to scrap it off, the rest of the m&c was delicious. Had another side, can't remember what it was, not good or bad, forgettable. We entertain a lot for work, and typically eat at a Morton's, Ruby's or similar 8 to 12 times a year. Morton's in Chicago, and Vegas are much better. This could have been a bad night, but considering what Morton's charges it's extremely unacceptable. I'm actually surprised they are still in business, in Louisville. They will have to step up the food quality and design to be around much longer. With 4 overpriced drinks, our tab was in excess of $200 a bit steep. Considering the cafeteria style layout in the "dinning" room, we won't be back. There are several better steak houses in Louisville, one 2 blocks away. Any would be an improvement over Morton's. A funny/strange aside: When I was valeting the car, I only had a $20/ I believe it was $5 to park, plus tip. I asked for a $5 back, of course (thinking $10 tip in Louisville is good) he didn't have change, I understand. But, what he said was pretty funny. Most people give him a $20 or a $50, and don't ask for change. I did get change during dinner and gave him another $5 for picking up the car. It would be interesting to know if most people do give the valet $20 in Louisville for a $5 fee. I have been typically giving a $10, $5 fee, and $5 tip, plus another $5 to retrieve the car, a total tip of $10.

I really hate to do this but my meal was so exceptionally bad that I feel compelled. We started off with the shrimp cocktail which in my opinion were rubbery and tasteless, I can buy a 2lb. bag at Costco for less and they would have more flavor. These were served with a cocktail sauce that was way too thick and also unflavorful. For my entree I had a mixed grill which included a filet, scallops and shrimp served with a few asparagus stalks. Nothing on the plate was good - the scallops had no sear, the shrimp were over-cooked, the steak had too much char on the outside although it was prepared to medium rare. The asparagus, Should I go on? Then to top it all off, it was cold, very cold. My husband did eat his food but the steak had no seasoning or sear. The only reason I am giving the restaurant 2 stars is the service was good and they did remove my entree from the bill, although not really sure that was enough since the bill was still over $150.

One of the ten best steaks I have ever had. The New York strip was cooked just right, the flavor perfect. I sat at the bar, and the service was excellent. The fresh bread wonderful. Needless to say, I really like this place, and the folks that work there.

I'm used to the Detroit Mortons where everything is top notch... So expecting the same I was very disappointed in the place. I ate at the bar , the bartender was a young 24 year old or close she had no personality no respect for her clients she and co worker laid against the liquor bottles talking about their life ... Speaking some inappropriate language a huge let down for Mortons. That being said I'll probably never go to the Detroit location again because it's not worth throwing out that kind of money to be ignored and treated like crap .... Let alone them expecting a big tip for doing nothing What a shame Another good small chain ruined Where is the work ethic or are people hiring family?

The second best in everything could make this the best steakhouse in Louisville. When comparing the different upscale steakhouse in Louisville, we always seem to end up at Morton's because they do everything well. I admit that I have had better appetizers, better steaks, better service, better drinks, better sides, better desserts, and better atmosphere at individual local and comparable restaurants. But when I rank those aspects in order, it seems like Morton's is second best in every category --- which translates to a #1 overall experience. Perhaps they only thing they need to replace is their bread! I know some people love it, but it basically is an enormous heated up Kroger Kaiser roll. On the flip side, their Carrot Cake is fabulous.

Stopped by this evening to meet some friends. Great prices for yummy sliders, there were great. Crab cakes, filet mignon burgers and something else. The drink. Prices are not discounted, $13.95 per martini. That is the going rate for a drink at Mortons. If you like great food at a very good price go. My problem is mi get two martinis and this deal turns into a $35 one hour adventure. Worth it for some but not for most. Make sure you are ready to pay premium drink prices and get great food for a discount... Five stars for the discounted food, three stars for the high drink prices... Buyer beware...

I never turn down an opportunity to eat at Morton's, and neither should you. With so many amazing steakhouses in Louisville, Morton's distinguishes itself with a sense of what I can only call glamour. I always feel like I'm going to a Roaring 20's speakeasy when I go down the stairs to the restaurant, which is located in the basement at 626 W Main St. The decor is appropriately elegant, with rich dark wood on the walls, and tasteful light fixtures. It's a cozy feeling, but never claustrophobic, despite the subterranean location. Service is par excellence at Morton's as well. Everyone from the host staff to the wait staff knows how to attend to you without making you feel trampled on. Glasses are refilled with appropriate frequency, meaning that you're never staring at an empty bottom or constantly sipping from the top of your drink. And make sure you order steak when you come here. Seriously, give the salmon or chicken a rest for a night and forget about watching your figure for once. I got the Center Cut Filet Mignon cooked Medium for my main course, and it was a perfect medium -- not too pink, not too cooked. It was exactly the way I like! I'd also like to know where Morton's sources their broccoli from; it was fresh, tasty, and looked beautiful for the middle of December. I actually ate all of it . . . it didn't hurt that it was smothered in their perfect hollandaise sauce :-) I didn't have room for dessert but got chocolate mousse anyhow. Did I regret it? Heck no! It was silky smooth with small bits of real dark chocolate in every bite. Mmmmmmmm!

Wonderful food and service! From the valet service to every part of our meal the service was top notch! Foos was excellent although my chilled seafoof plate was not the best choice. Atmosphere was quiet and elegant. A great occasion restaurant!

I took my mom here for part of her mothers day gift along with a viewing of the amazing play Wicked. She was blown away by the decor, level of service, and quality of the food. She told me it was one of the best days out that she has ever had! The restaurant is pricey but worth every penny!

While the employees could not have been friendlier, there wasn't a single item we had where the quality justified the price. As I spend a good portion of my time in Los Angeles and own an Alaska-based seafood company, I'm not afraid to pay for good food. Everything was average. In addition, 4 of us ate at RYE recently for less than 3 at Morton's - and every dish we had was stellar. I will not feel the need to visit Morton's again.

Went to Morton's steak house in Louisville and was very disappointed. I learned that they changed ownership. As I have eaten there on numerous occasions, this visit was like the last time when i thought it was just a fluke that the meat wasn't what it had been. Before the change in ownership, the steaks were the best. They always had a thin crust on top with those classic grill marks. They must have changed the cooking process as my steak looked gray with very little flavor. As a steak house, they fall short of what it had been. I have had much better steaks cooked on an open flame as they should be prepared. They also must have skipped the former steak presentations. The sides however, were generous and flavorful and the service was good. Very over rated and pricey. Three people and the bill was $338. Will not be going back

Oct22, wife and two close friends enjoyed a delicious dinner. My friend & I both had steak. He was very pleased with the filet. I chose the bone-in ribeye and was also very pleased. The ladies opted to go a different route. My friend's wife had the chicken. It was a hit. Sadly, my wife being the vegetarian in the crowd was not very pleased with the side items. She is very eager to dress up and enjoy an evening dining out at a nice steakhouse (so I can indulge my carnivor cravings)....she always chooses from the side items and pairs it with a salad and wine(s) and eagerly awaits for desert. She selected the asparagus and the sour cream mashed potatoes. She wasn't impressed. I tried both thinking it may just be her...nope. The mashed potatoes were rather dry and the sauce which was drizzled on the asparagus took away from the dish. Our chocolate soufflé was bigger than any other restaurant I've seen, but I wouldn't say as tasty. Overall, Morton's was a very enjoyable dining experience with the emphasis on the main courses. If you are craving a delicious steak, or possible even chicken, don't hesitate. Don't expect too much from the side items....

Oh my gracious! Another fabulous dining experience at Morton's! We always feel like we are being greeted by family when we visit Morton's. Everything including the food, staff and atmosphere is so above our expectations. We seriously cant find one single thing to complain about or that Morton's needs to improve upon. I started my evening with the Cadillac Margarita, without a doubt the best I've ever had. Hubby had the manhattan he enjoyed his as well. Our photo was taken for an anniversary memento and our names were printed on our menus wishing us a happy anniversary. For an appetizer we enjoyed the mozerella wrapped in prosciutto. Delicious and served with balsamic vinegarette and shaved Parmesan. Salads we chose were the Morton's chopped salad. Yummy yummy yummy! For my entree I chose the 12 oz filet, hubby enjoyed the NY Strip. Both were cooked exactly the way we ordered and we ate every single morsel. Asparagus And lyonnaise potatos accompanied our meal. For dessert we were offered a lemon soufflé to enjoy as a treat for our anniversary celebration. It too was yummy. Hubby ordered a special Morton's coffee which he declared delicious. We have never been disappointed in a meal at Morton's and will continue to return. Valet parking is available. There is a $5.00 fee but well worth it not to have to search for parking downtown. Our server was Debbie and she was very knowledgeable and helpful with our requests, We've had Tom as a server also on a previous visit, you can't go wrong with either of these individuals. Margaret, the manager is very personable and is very sincere in making sure you have an enjoyable dining experience. Yes a meal at Morton's is expensive but well worth it knowing you will leave happy and satisfied with your meal. I know this review jumped all over the place but I hope you find it helpful

We have been coming here for years, and it has changed a bit now that Landry's owns the chain. Sinatra music is gone, and the menu has been "updated." Location wise, you have to walk downstairs from the street level, so there are no windows. But the booths are very roomy, and who cares about windows, right? The hash browns are still very good, and so are the mushrooms. I don't eat red meat, but my husband and son love the streaks. Chopped salad is one of my favorites. I ordered tuna tacos for an appetizer, and they were fantastic! One negative is that the entry portions are smaller (I usually order the crab cakes) and I used to look forward to bringing that third crab cake home for lunch the next day, but they only serve two smaller ones now. We love the manager, Joe. Always makes us feel like family.

Make sure to check in before you enter the building as there is no cell phone service in the restaurant, as it should be sometimes. Just mention the Yelp special and they will honor it. We used the Yelp Special and saved big time! For $120 we got two full salads, two 8 oz steaks, two family style sides, and two desserts. I finally attended a dinner event here and the best kind, my Birthday Dinner. I thought the bar area was great but dinner was even better. They spaced the tables out so everyone got their own private dinner experience. When my boyfriend made the reservations they asked my preferences so everyone that we interacted with mentioned Happy Birthday to me. We received a custom menu with my name and a birthday message and even received a complementary photo to commemorate my day. Everyone even continued to offer me bourbon unprompted since they knew how much I enjoyed it. We sat in the back of the restaurant that allowed us to watch the chef cook in his open kitchen. After dinner service the chef even asked us how we liked our meal. Of course we had tons of food to take home and get to enjoy all over again for leftovers. This place is truly a great gift...
