Continuing my quest to check out the local fare on this end of Fern Creek, Marric's is simply a hop-and-skip away and a wonderful find for American-style home cooking. Much like the other reviewers, it is more than a solid choice for family dinner night. Both my boys loved their food, with my oldest tearing through a bacon cheeseburger which he stated was one of the best he's ever had (he's had more than a few) and my youngest enjoying spaghetti w/ meat sauce (he's a connoisseur.) I tried the spaghetti and it was very good, the sauce slightly sweet with a little tartness. The noodles were maybe a smidge over-cooked. I opted for the bacon-wrapped meatloaf w/ green beans & a baked potato. All good but the meatloaf was just OK. Also had the fried mushrooms, which were excellent, as they were not frozen but fresh cut with a nice, salty & thin but crispy flour batter. What takes Marric's to 5-star, is the service. Ben, in this case, was top notch. Friendly with the boys, plus willing to offer suggestions and recommendations and not so overbearing that he was constantly hovering over the table. Done right. I have a feeling Marric's will become a go-to spot, my oldest has already planned a return.

A frustrating experience indeed. We showed up and were seated promptly; the restaurant was not that busy but had some diners. We waited AN HOUR for our food - and none of us ordered the chicken (on the menu it states that the fried chicken takes about 20 minutes to prepare). During that time I saw another couple order and receive their meals plus dessert and coffee before we received anything. The food was okay but nothing special - mashed potatoes and green beans were very bland. Also, the room we were in had a television with a children's show blaring loudly, and there was also a different type of music playing through the speakers AND a different program on a tv in the other room. That, paired with the acoustics in the room made for an unpleasant cacophony. I will not be returning.

Awesome home cooked Southern comfort food! Very good for kids (food they will actually eat, and of high quality as well). Fried chicken is a must try!

Well, that sucked! We were SOOOOOOOO looking forward to trying a new local restaurant. I read all the great reviews...told my husband about it this afternoon so we headed over right after work. When he greeted us at the door, I recognized Ben from online pictures and reviews. He promptly sat us in Tom's section. A moment later, he explained that Tom would be our server but that he would take our drink order. Tom walked by us way too many times after we got our drinks from Ben. I expected him to stop every time to say, "I'll be right with you" or "Sorry for the wait." But he never did. I stopped Ben and asked him if Tom knew we were his table and he said he did. After that, Tom walked by a couple more times so we left. We eat dinner out almost 7 nights a week...we're always looking forward to adding another great eatery to our rotation but Merric's doesn't make the cut and I'm so disappointed...was really hoping it would be great!

Just had dinner here. The music inside was a bit loud for the small space, but others seemed to be enjoying it. Our server, Craig, was excellent. The best server I have had anywhere in quite some time. The food was really good too. I had the Cuban sandwich & my grandfather had the country fried steak. We moved out to the patio to avoid the music so we could talk & had it to ourselves. My sandwich was Marric's spin on a Cuban & it was very good. The seasoned fries weren't really seasoned but the sandwich made up for it. Overall a good experience & glad to see it here.

Best food in Fern Creek. We've eaten here many times and never leave disappointed. Everything on the menu is awesome but I highly recommend the fried chicken. Check this place out if you happen to be in the area. You'll be glad you did.

Came into Louisville to go to lunch with family, and decided to give Marric's a try, and boy are we glad we did!! Fantastic food, fantastic service, and a great value!! We started out with fried mushrooms (handmade, not frozen, and delicious! Served with ranch dressing, but you can request horseradish if you prefer that for dipping!), potato skins (cheesy, with real bacon on top ... Not the fake bacon bits!), and fried green tomatoes (delicious!) Between the five of us we had the burger special (burger with BBQ Ranch sauce and fried pickles .... Delicious!!), Buffalo Chicken Wrap, and Chicken Tenders. You could tell that every single item was freshly made! The chicken tenders were huge and juicy! Everything was delicious and so fresh!! The fries are to die for!! The only thing that wasn't a huge hit (being picky here) was the green beans. They needed something (bacon, onion, sugar, something) to make them pop. But, that was just one thing out of a table full of food! They have different specials every day, i.e., salmon croquettes, pot roast, fried chicken!, and they make all of their desserts from scratch!! We have already told three different people about the place, and know they will give it a try. Our server, Ben, was fabulous!! I know that this location has had several different types of eateries, and I really hope these owners will be successful! They deserve it for all of their hard work! The inside of the place feels cozy and warm. We will return for sure!!

We gave them another shot. I tore apart their meatloaf last time, and I must say-- I almost ordered it because the man at the table next to me had the meatloaf and it looked SO GOOD. Their server asked how they likes and and encouraged their genuine opinion. They said if was good except for the gravy. Now I'm regretting not ordering it. Service again was quite stellar. He never brought the dinner salad I'd ordered and got charged for-but I didn't make a stink. I paid for it because last time they didn't charge me a second glass of wine so I suppose I felt I owed them. One thing I didn't care for was when our server was boxing our food, he picked up a roll with his hands and placed it in our takeaway box. Ew! That and he took the paper wrapper of the straw and put the straw into my kids cup. Just so unsanitary. This place has potential. Service is ALMOST perfect- accomodating, social..

This is a great neighborhood resteraunt with a small yet clean and cozy interior. Cozy and quiet setting and great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I ordered the southern fried chicken and loved it.

Holy cow that was good!!! This little restaurant is right across the street from my parish, but I had never stopped in until tonight. From the outside, the place looks teeny tiny but I assure you, there is plenty of room inside. The menu was full of amazing "home cooked" meals. My sister got the country fried steak and assured me it was the best she had ever tasted. I got the Cuban sandwich, and it was a truly amazing explosion of badassery in my mouth. I left there so full and lethargic, I couldn't even drink a beer at the church picnic afterwards. I can't wait to go back!

Ben was excellent server. Chicken livers were delicious according to my sister and dad. My fries were wonderful. Potato soup and club were fantastic and generous portions. Good southern food and something for the entire family.

Always looking to try something new and with mixed reviews I was interested to see what this place was all about. Pulled up at 4pm,no cars in the parking lot, building looks a bit odd from the outside so I started to wonder if this was a good idea. Pleasantly surprised when we opened the door, much nicer than expected on the inside. Everything appears new and clean, cozy little place that could filled up quickly. From the time we were seated til the time we left it went from empty to over half full. It is true fern creek has few options for good, so please be good. Potato soup and bean soup were just ok,not bad but nothing I would get again. Fried green tomatoes looked delicious, breading had good flavor, but breading was hard which made them very hard to cut. Again it was nothing I would order again. We had the pork chop and fried chicken. Knowing it would be 20minutes I had high hopes on the fried chicken. Breading was good and crisp with nice flavoring. Chicken itself lacked much flavor, seemed to be all in the breading. Pork chop was average at best. Green beans, mashed potatoes,apples,broccoli/squash all were very mediocre. Rolls came out cold although I heard someone say make sure not to burn the rolls, maybe we just got an old batch? Overall I wish it had been much better, but there was nothing to get excited about. While waiter was taking orders he had to constantly ask if they had things, some of which they didn't. Makes me think this is a common occurrence. Also the hours make no sense 11am to 8pm. I assume they are slow late but not sure how you can be successful if you close before dinner rush is over. Focus has to be the food. Chicken is close to be really good, pork chop needs to be a thick cut chop, only way to get it super tender and moist. Sides all need tweaking and make sure it all comes out hot. Reminds me a lot of the place that was across the street and went out of business I think it was Our Best? Much bigger operation with similar menu, they failed to focus on the food and didn't last long. Hopefully the kitchen can get things together and turn things around. They have a customer base just chomping at the bit for good southern good. If Aspen Creek can make it, well the area doesn't expect great food just good comfort food done well. Even though I see them as a 2star now, they have potential to be a 4.
