I met friends here on a Friday night after a long work week. We enjoyed unwinding and catching up over some drinks in this comfortably cool spot. It's definitely shooting for that hipster vibe but in a way that's understated, not obnoxious. I really liked that there were some small tables and couch areas but a lot of open space, too. That open space helped later when it got really crowded. The bar area is beautiful and I couldn't stop looking at it while waiting to get a drink. I wish I'd taken a picture! The service was friendly and pretty quick despite how crazy it was in there. I'd definitely go back again.

We were really looking forward to trying this place after waiting so long for renovation. I couldn't wait to get in and try some the charcuterie. Unfortunately, the charcuterie is only available between 4 and 6 pm. How hard is it to slice meat? The atmosphere was fine and so was the one drink we had but where they really failed was in seating. Yes, the couches were so-so but after putting in so much to the bar seats (from the look of it) it was a fail. Stools were uncomfortable. You can't even reach the foot rest while seated and I'm 6'1! You just dangle on small and hard wooden seats. They are fixed to the floor and don't even swivel. Made us want to finish our one drink and leave. Fix those bar stools and it would be a major improvement.

I finally made it Louis's The Ton yesterday after hearing rumblings for months. I love the openness of the space along with the hip decor, a beautiful bar, and a spacious outdoor patio. The cocktail menu features cute little pictures depicting each cocktail so you know exactly what you're getting. While they don't serve food, you can order personal pizzas from across the street, and they currently offer beer floats with ice cream provided by Louisville Cream. My hard root beer float with salted caramel ice cream was delicious!

What a great bar! Love the decor and the staff are fantastic. Visited for my sister's birthday and had a great time with some very delicious cocktails.

Love this place!!! Good drinks, great bartenders, casual....Nice place for happy hour after a rough day at work!! Only reason they didn't get five stars is because they only serve the Chartcuterie until 6pm.

Checked this place out for the first time last night. Very cool vibe and atmosphere. Reasonably priced cocktails, wide beer list. Try the charcuterie plate definitely. I like places with no tvs. Just music and conversation. Local art hanging on the wall so they promote area talent, and that's good. Soon to have a beer garden in the back soon (??). Anyways, worth the trip to Butcher town for a laid back drink. And Sergio's is right next door.

Over the past months, Louis's the Ton has become my neighborhood, go-to pub. After leaving Germantown (and my beloved Nach Bar), I was unsure that I'd find the same kind of lovable dive near Butchertown/Crescent Hill. Louis is filling that gap for me. This laid back space is open and airy with a large bar and loads of booze - from bottled beer to specialty cocktails. Space for artwork, bands/DJ, dancing, and board games makes the bar into the pub that it hails itself to be. The Ton is a fantastic, gathering place to kick back and enjoy yourself. Tonight after the Butchertown Art Fair, we wondered in for some sweet A/C, an ice cold beer (my Corona was only $3!) and snacks from the Taco Lucador truck out front. Although the bar doesn't serve food, you can bring your own in or partake of the food trucks that they host a couple times a month. I love the happy hour and ladies' night prices each week that allow you to have a relaxing chat with friends, close to offices and events, without NuLu or downtown sticker shock. There are plans to open a Biergarten soon which will make the Ton even better!

I think Louis's The Ton is still trying to find themselves. I have a feeling with time my rating will go up. But for now the experience was so disjointed I can't give it more love. After months and months of passing the beautiful job they've done with the exterior and reading food blogs, and seeing photos of the bar we were expecting a luxurious feel, something like Meat exuded. But when we walked in, all we saw was empty space and couches that looked like they belonged in a coffee shop. It was off putting. The flow of the bar to the back was great, with a wall blocking off the bar from the toilets and the back seating area. We walked to the back and found church pews and small ice cream shop tables and chairs. Again there was a very large, eerie amount of open space available without seating. I know there is talks of live music nights a few nights a month, but if it's not that night I don't see why there should be massive amounts of empty space. We decided on one of the pews to sit at and took a look at the bar. I was taken aback when I saw the bottle and draft beer menu. I know they are next to Sergio and don't want to compete with them, but an establishment of this level shouldn't share half of their bottles with a sports bar. An entire row devoted to miller lite, coors, Budweiser...The draft menu was also hard to read in one corner of the bar and I didn't see any of their other cocktails or wines display. I expected a more sophisticated experience from all the hype. The women's bathroom was also a bit funny. None of the stalls had lockable doors. One was a western style swinging door and the other was a window curtain on a rod. It felt weird for a bar. You never know what drunk will walk in on you. I felt uncomfortable. It made me feel like they ran out of money after all the major renovations to the old building and were scrounging along at the end trying to finish the place. Putting all the odd stuff aside, we actually had a great time there. All of the employees were extremely helpful and friendly. I never stood at the bar for more than a few seconds before I was helped. When they realized I was overwhelmed with the selection (or the lack there of), they gave me a recommendation that was spot on. There was never too many people around us, even though when we left the bar was packed. The space is large enough to accommodate a larger group, even on a Friday or Saturday night. The space is divided up into different areas, so it never got too loud. Like I said, I think they are going through their learning curve. They have some things to work on. If some of the issues I had were fixed, I think it will be a great spot.

Great place. This place gets everything write as far as I am concerned. Not pretentious, no annoying TVs, reasonable prices, open airy atmosphere. This is a place you can relax and talk. If you are put off by seeing a domestic on the menu, used/repurposed furniture or items then you might want to look somewhere else. They have a rotating selection of craft beers on tap. The small ones are $3.50 and are perfect for when I am driving and just want to stop in for a bit.

Louis's the Ton is a fantastic destination. It is a combination of great hand selected beers and cocktails, unpretentious attitude, and great value. What really makes this place stand out is the historical swagger it exudes. Cocktails are inspired by the history of the neighborhood and the ambiance is of community. Th cocktails offered are uncomplicated, no froo froo 30 ingredient drinks. They rely on complex liquors and many years of drink knowledge on their staff. This produces cocktails that are memorable for their ingredient complementation and not their over-stimulation. The beer is Fantastic. Starting with their 20oz proper pints. It is the prefect amount for an after work drink, and the prices are great. The draft selection is solid and hand-picked to match the bars attitude, combined with their unique beer tap system they do not waste good beer to foam. Their charcutterie plates are available for happy hour 4-6pm and are great to share. I am conflicted in writing this review. since I know that as it becomes more popular it will be harder for me to get a seat at their copper bar, but i feel that others who love Louisville will appreciate the bravery and uniqueness of this location.

Stumbled across this place on a Monday night. Owner, Emanuel was working bar and made us feel welcomed. The drinks are unique but he also has a full bar and beer selection. This place is great and has a very eclectic crowd which is perfect for me!
