The "vegan" tofu burger tasted suspiciously like fried chicken. I suspect they shared the same oil, but I can't confirm it. Either way, it was a deep fried mush patty, and I can't recommend it. I paid to substitute black bean and corn salad for the standard side of potato chips, and got about 1/4 cup of salad (and it wasn't even very good). Not worth the extra dollar. The grain salad has honey, so steer clear of that. The place was packed, so clearly they're doing something right. The omnivores in my group were happy with their meat bugers. While I was happy to find an entree marked vegan on the menu, I wouldn't order it again. Of course this place also has salads, but going to a restaurant and having to order salad is enough to make this vegan feel a little stabby. Especially if I have to drive way out to the middle of nowhere for it.

Loved the ambiance! Just driving through the Lexington countryside and arriving at such a special place made for a wonderful evening. The menu is interesting, perhaps a little too much bread in things, but the salads and oysters and burgers were excellent. The staff is great and the tables roomy enough to hold a large crowd. When the weather warms the patio will be packed. Can't wait to go back again! they should try more veggies and less beans, potatoes, and fries. Or try some new fry "dippings".

The short drive from Lexington out to Windy Corner is breathtakingly beautiful. You pass rolling horse farms and today, it was particularly pretty with the fall color. This was my second attempt going to Windy Corner. I had heard it was good and tried to go for Mother's Day. But, alas, it was crazy packed then, so today was my first time actually eating there. The restaurant itself looks like an old country general store. It's fairly spacious inside. You have to order at the counter which has its pros and cons. I got the Shrimp Po-Boy, fries and orzo salad. The Po-Boy was breaded in a tasty batter and huge. I couldn't eat it all. My fries were hot. I imagined that the orzo salad would be oilier or creamier, but it was rather dry - but flavorful. My food came out in less than ten minutes. It's a pleasant experience. There are lots of picnic tables outside. I think I'll come back sometime and try breakfast. If you're looking for a nice daytime date or want to get away for lunch, it's a nice spot.

Coincidently discovered this locally owned place. I went there with friends and every one of us loved the sandwiches we ordered. I got Filly Cheese Po-Gal and it was absolutely delicious! Loved the pickled vegetable salad on top of the sandwich. Also got to try Cinnamon Coffee Cake and Smore's squares. They were both delightful. You must try both of them!

A pretty drive down back roads leads to this nice little place! The food is fresh, local, and fast! I was quite surprised by the quality of the food! Worth the drive!

This is a very out of the way restaurant and very worth the drive. When we went it was very busy, but the line moved fast. I was disappointed that they were out of crawfish, but I was just as excited to try the fried oysters. I also got the sassy cole slaw to go with my Po' Boy. The food was hot and the oysters were amazing. There was a little too much bread, but overall the sandwich was delicious. I this next time I'll just go for the seafood platter, but this was very good. The breading on the oysters was well seasoned and they were perfectly cooked. There was a generous portion on the sandwich and the sauce was a great compliment. I'll definitely eat there again.

Defiantly a place anyone in Lexington or that visits Lexington should come too!! It's on the outskirts of Lex and worth the trip, not that it takes long to get too and you get to see some beautiful horse farms on the trip! Win win! The food was delicious and it tasted fresh and homemade! The Kentucky Boy was out of this world! Potato salad not overly mayo'ed!! We will for sure be back and next time bring family! Desserts looked great but we passed we were way to full...maybe next time!! Enjoy!!!

Casual atmosphere with exceptional food. The Oyster Po-Boy is very tasty, and their greek orzo side is reason enough to go (not to mention, it's a beautiful scenic drive out there). I can't say enough good things about this gem! It does get very busy, so be sure to arrive early and expect to wait on a table if it's during prime time.

First off, the drive up here is beautiful. Nothing but horse farms, black fences, ancient limestone fences and gentle rolling hills for miles around. I never realized North Lexington could be so pristine. Windy Corner Market is placed right in the middle of nowhere, where all you can hear is the wind blowing and maybe a horse in the distance. You walk inside and it's a whole different story. Busy, crowded, and absolutely bustling with activity. You know if this many people drove all the way out here for lunch at 2 pm, this was a good choice. The cashier was very enthusiastic as he took orders, but I wasted no time. I had studied the Yelp page thoroughly and decided that the Kentucky Po'Boy was for me. Let's analyze it in parts. A bed of crisp iceberg lettuce on the bottom. Moist and tender barbeque pork topped with smoky barbeque sauce topped with a beer cheese sauce and hold on. They put fried pickles on top of this puppy too? All nestled in a fresh baked roll? Yes sir, may I please have another? I also opted for fries instead of the bag of chips. Definitely worth the $1 upcharge. Fried to golden perfection and coated with just the right amount of sea salt. The only possible negative I could see is that the price point is a little higher than I like paying for lunch. However, with a much effort and quality that goes in the food (not to mention the atmosphere), if feels like you're getting away with a deal.

Wife recommended this place because she saw it in Yelp & have good reviews. When we arrived the place was half full & got familiar how to place the order. The fellow at the counter told me to first get a place to secure a table & get familiar with the menu, so that is what we did. Brother in law had Basket Catfish, Wife had Bourbon Hamburger Deluxe (Medium well done with French fries) & I had Kentucky Pop Boy with French fries plus one jumbo granola raisin cookie. After all that food we shared a Bourbon Ball Sundae. Now the place was very nice with a great drive to it. The servers were very attentive to your need while we were eating. The wait for the food was average & taste was OK. To me was a experience because you order all the food you want, paid for it, then the server comes with the food and call your first name & you have to paid attention to the calling of the server for your food. Figure it out? Well my Experience but is something NEW.

This Place is WAY out of the way, but it is packed on the weekends and for good reason. I have been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For breakfast, I have tried the bacon Po Boy. Bring a big appetite if you order this, the sandwich is huge and it comes with homefries or hashbrowns. This particular visit was on a Sunday, after church at 1:30pm. The place was packed as usual. It was a little hard to get a table because so many people had eaten and were just "camping" at the tables. It happens. I blame the people, not the restaurant. First, the sauce that goes on the shrimp po boy is so freakin' good. I always order extra to dip my fries in. Then the pork sandwich was tender and messy--just the way I like it. So far, I have liked every thing on the menu I have tried. There is a burger that has the bacon jam that is so delicious. My mouth is ready for the next trip there.

Last time we visited Windy Corner Market I noticed the menu featured Shrimp and Grits on Tuesdays. Recently we made the trip out to sample this Southern dish with mixed results. The shrimp came as an adequate sized portion and was sautéed in a spicy red sauce with hints of butter. It was delicious. The grits were delicate and creamy but the portion size was too small. Hopefully they will take note of my review and plate a bigger portion next time. The entire dish was garnished with green onion as well as onion tanglers. I enjoyed the green onion but found the onion tanglers overpowering. My wife liked them slightly more than I did but agreed they were too hearty for such a delicate dish. Value wise we both felt that for the $10.95 price the meal should include a side dish such as a salad, slaw, or even steamed vegetables (a health-conscious option suggested by my spouse). Still over all the dish was quite tasty and I have scored it accordingly. I will update my review when we next pay them a visit and sample more of their offerings.

Amazing food! This place is located in the middle of nowhere but it well worth the drive. I recommend the burger: bacon jam, beer cheese, what more could you ask for! They have a great selection of po-boys so if you have a fix for sandwiches, this place is where you need to be.

This is a quintessential Kentucky deli, quietly tucked away in the rolling hills of beautiful horse farms outside of Lexington. As a previous reviewer said, Windy gets busy, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings. That might take away some of the enjoyment, but I'm glad so many folks have discovered this gem. If you're looking for an upscale dinner, this is not your place. If you're looking for a quick, cheap meal, this is not your place. If, however, you're looking for a laid-back, home-cooked, locally-sourced meal... well, Windy is just the right place for that. I'm in my last year of grad school at UK, and I suppose that Windy might be my last meal before I leave Lexington next spring. It's really that good.

Best little place out in the middle of know where. I love how the scenery is all horse farms. Walked in a first thing I saw was ice cream. It was so beautiful inside, horse stuff everywhere and Kentucky proud goods. I got a burger and fries. Loved it from just looking at it. Beer cheese and BBQ sauce on top of it. Yeah I was in heaven! The fries were nice and crispy. If I could rate the burgers and fries I would give it a 9.5 out of 10. I also got the cheese cake soft served ice cream cone. So worth it! I plan on coming here every other week now. :)

A group of us hit the Windy Corner for lunch on this sunny July day, a first visit for all. We started with the sweet banana pepper appetizer, and then graduated to our Po Boy sandwiches. I had the fried shrimp one, and it was marvelous. Their creamy cole slaw side was great, too. I was too full for dessert, but the pies, cookies, and bars looked scrumptious. Another day, another visit!

I'm a big fan of Ouita Michel's restaurants, and I appreciate her food philosophy and commitment to fresh, local ingredients. I also appreciate the fact that each of her restaurants has similarities and differences...not the same food at all locations, but some of the same items. I saw a piece on Secrets of Bluegrass Chefs about Windy Corner Market and couldn't wait to try it. The show highlighted their shrimp & grits and artichoke fritters, and I have had both many times. The shrimp & grits is the best I've had (though a little heavy on the salt), slightly spicy sauce, creamy cheesy grits, and perfectly cooked shrimp topped with fried onions...all those things in one bite is just heaven in your mouth. The artichoke fritters are crispy outside, moist inside, and served with a delicious remoulade that I could personally eat with almost everything. The setting for Windy Corner is peaceful, charming, and perfect. Sure, I wish it was closer to town, but I love to drive past all the gorgeous horse farms and mentally spend my future lottery winnings. I have only eaten dinners at Windy Corner, but I've never seen it full or had to wait long for my food. Portions here are plentiful, and their po boy sandwiches are huge. Why 4 stars instead of 5? Small things, really. During the winter they stop serving at 7:00pm, and we were twice nearly turned away when we arrived at 6:15pm and 6:30pm. I have also had some inconsistent plating from the kitchen...brown, wilted greens, a very small amount of sauce on my shrimp & grits, and overcooked fish. Each time they made things right, but it wasn't with a smile or an apology, which would have gone a long way. Windy Corner Market is a place I will continue to frequent, and to take out of town guests. Love the food, love the atmosphere, and love the location!

Best kept secret outside of town. Food was excellent, desserts are typical. Neighbors recommended this, lived in area for 9.7 years and never heard of. Atmosphere is nice. They had a live performance. They have outside dining as well. Had roast beef sammich, yummy. Cookie looked amazing for dessert but was just okay, will try pie next at same price.

What a great find. This place is pretty remote. Surrounded by beautiful horse farms, they are serving up some excellent southern cuisine. Best catfish I have had so far in Kentucky, and I've eaten quite a bit. It was fried perfectly in fresh oil. No bitter taste or dark coloring. Location is usually the biggest factor in a restaurant's success. This place is way out and doing great business. Highly recommend. I will definitely be back. Order at the counter then find a seat. They will bring it to you.

This is my favorite place to bring out of town guests. The place just feels homey and has such a "local Kentucky" vibe to it. Be warned this places is crowded for weekend breakfast brunch so come early if you want to avoid a line. My favorite breakfast item is the BLT Poor Boy. And I love the Kentucky Boy as well as the Bourbon Delixe burger. Super messy but that's what makes a good burger, right? Oh, and make sure you check out the Chino-changa Rolls as an appetizer. Unique and very good! The drive out here is well worth it.

Yes, it's a scenic drive out but it is an experience like another... in a different area, Wallace Station. Both have the same awesome owners who also own Holly Hill. I prefer Wallace Station. Why? Because it's more laid back and not as busy as Windy. When I walked into Windy Corner, not dressed up or ready for an upscale restaurant. What did it feel like though? An upscale restaurant, not the deli that I envisioned it to be. Yes, you order at the counter but that is about the end of that envisionment. It took about 20 minutes to get through the line and then we were seated at the outside seating right away. It is frowned upon to sit or reserve your table before getting your food because people were reserving seats and their parties were still in line and then people who already paid and made it through the line didn't have an available seat. I ordered the pulled chicken Po' Boy and paid the extra $1 to get the fries instead of chips. It had a combination of what seemed like two sauces, a ranch like sauce and a BBQ like sauce but not as much kick. The sandwich had a kick, but the sauces were just right. My meal was 5 star worthy. The fact that it took at least 30 minutes after the 20 order wait, to receive the food was a set back. The third person in our party ordered the bourbon burger and his didn't arrive for at least another 10 minutes after ours. That was a bit weird to eat in front of him but I was in a hurry and hungry, so my manners took a backseat. The burger seemed small and he said that the beer cheese seemed odd on the burger, maybe he wasn't used to cheese sauce instead if sliced cheese. If you're looking for an out of the way dining experience Windy or Wallace is your place, while I personally prefer Wallace Station, you take your pick. Either choice is a winner and local diner experiences.

We finally decided to come try Windy Corner for lunch and it met our expectations. The line was long and so expect to wait for your food. We found a table and our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time.... It was very good..... The crawfish PoBoy, potato salad and fries were prepared excellently and there was more than I could eat. The building is great and the decor makes you feel at home. We will be back for sure.

The location is way out of the way and the food was 'meh' but not too bad. I mean, I thought it was alright, but nothing to write home about. This place definitely felt country to me...reminding me I'm in Kentucky, near farmland. I literally got to pet horses standing next to the parking lot. It's a good destination place when you want to show off something quirky about this town, but I don't see a reason to go here that often. Guess since I'm not a local that has something to do with it, but if the food were as good as I'd been primed I'd be down for more visits. Had the Smoked Chicken Po Boy...would rather get a Po Boy from Popeyes :/.

This place has wonderful desserts and acceptable sandwiches. I'm never that impressed with their po boys, but their desserts are great. I usually get one of their jumbo ginger cookies and it's the highlight of the trip for me. Super tasty, very soft. I also usually get a drink here and opt for the tea, because it's not over-brewed and the unsweetened peach tea is nice. For lunch, I usually end up with the tofu steamer basket which always has an assortment of mixed vegetables. I get it with their miso dressing. It's definitely a unique option that I've not seen anywhere else, and it seems very healthy. Tasty, too. Sometimes I mix it up and get the supper salad, which is a bed of greens covered in four sides. I recommend the healthy grain salad and the black bean and corn. I've had their barbecue chicken po boy as well as their Kentucky Combination country ham and Swiss po boy. They're both just okay. I think it's the blandness of the bun they're served on that's so unappealing. I much prefer the steamer basket. I do love their fried pickles and whatever the sauce is that they come with. It's a bit pricey here. I can easily spend $15 on a $8 po boy, $3 cookie, $2 drink, and a $2 tip. The staff is very friendly and the guy who always works the register remembers my name, though, which is nice. Get a ginger cookie!

This was my favorite meal when traveling to Kentucky on a recent film project. Amazing, I couldn't believe how popular the spot was, when we arrived there was a line out the door. Although they close rather early for me, 8pm I believe, we were still seated at 7:50, and never hurried out the door. Although we weren't the last ones out the door and were there easily till 9pm, the staff was sweet and kind. The food was hot and delicious, not cold and rushed. Thanks for the great meal, Windy!

My wife and I took a nice convertible ride to the Windy Corner Market last night. It was very busy for a Tuesday night but we were able to quickly place our order at the counter. We ordered two baskets. Catfish for me and Shrimp for my wife. Both meals came out without delay. I'd guess less than 10 minutes. They fish and fries had just come out of the fryer and were hot. We both enjoyed our meals. The only negative would be the creamy slaw had too much onion for my taste but my wife loved it. Really not a negative, just not my personnel taste. With a tip, both meals were about $30. I think it was a good value for what I got.

Just a short and beautiful drive in the countryside leads you out to Windy Corner. Boasting a great relaxing relaxing atmosphere this place is great for a dinner out with friends, date with your significant other or even the whole family. Using local foods to help support and boost farms in the Lexington area, the owner Outia Michel has set up the restaurant like an old country store. Windy Corner is a MUST place to visit while in Lexington and for locals to visit often! The po boys are great , but my personal favorite is Mabel's nut burger

This is a great little find. It truly is off the beaten path. A quaint little restaurant/store surrounded by farm land that is kind of in the middle of nothing. Just a short drive from Lexington, this place is great. They sell Po Boys, Soups, Burgers, and many other items with great taste and southern flair. I went in wanting a Shrimp Po Boy, but ended up ordering the Nut Burger after asking the waitress what she would have if she were eating. They use as much local product as possible and even sell local crafts. They have many different beers/wines to chose from if you like and a showcase filled with sweet home made treats. I of course had to have the Jumbo Ginger Gem Cookie. It was about 3/4 inch thick and the size of my head. YUM. Windy Corner Market is a very laid back place filled with charm and hospitality. If you are wanting something a bit different and not as hussle and bussle as a quickie drive through. This is the place for you. It won't rob your piggie bank either. Their prices are very good.

Finally made it to this neat little place for breakfast. What a beautiful drive getting there, surrounded by beautiful horse farms and extremely nice houses. Restaurant itself was very nice inside and had a good atmosphere. Felt like a neighborhood place (not my neighborhood), but friendly none the less. I ordered a breakfast burrito and it was good and my wife ordered a waffle which she enjoyed. The only down side to our visit were the prices. The burrito was average size to small as was the waffle and did not come with anything else. The entire breakfast came to $20 for the above items and waters. I really want to try some of their lunch items which sounded good. Lots of different Po boy options. Will definitely be back and try some other options.

Very good food and great atmosphere. The drive is beautiful especially in the fall. My favorite breakfast is the biscuits and gravy. Favorite lunch is the oyster po' boy with fries. It can be very busy depending on the time that you arrive but we have never had a problem getting a table. I highly recommend brining out of town guest here for a meal.

I'm a local and have to say that I've never had a bad meal or item at Windy Corner Market. All of the sandwiches are made of fresh local ingredients. The ordering process is a little different if you've never been. You grab a newsprint menu off the counter and stand in line towards the door. Sometimes the line snakes around the room a little bit.but it always moves quickly. If it's that busy you'll want another member of your party to stake out a table and move in when somebody leaves. You pay when you order. The wait staff will bring your order to your table. Be sure to check out all the great local goods while waiting. There are all kinds of interesting mustards and sauces plus books, hand painted stemware and other goodies. Check out the racing silks hung up. You'll likely recognize a few of the horse farms passed by on the way to the market. Welcome to the Bluegrass, enjoy!

The food at Windy Corner is always good and occasionally great. which is to be expected by a Ouita Michel restaurant. The only reason I didn't give five stars is the service. Placing an order is always slow and not particularly pleasant. I've never been treated rudely but, conversely, have never been welcomed in the 10+ times I've visited, both by myself, with family and with friends.

I like the food & the atmosphere is neat with the race horse theme, but the prices seem a bit high for what it is to me. If you go however, you must try the baked goods. This is the best part of the experience in my opinion. If its a weekend be prepared to wait.

Do remember you can almost always get any sandwich on the best homemade gluten free sandwich bread you have yet met. Promise. But you may not need a sandwich. The steamed veggie basked with a side of homemade vinaigrette or smoked tomato ranch dressing calls to me just about every time. It's unbelievably good. The veggies tend to be from across the road at Berries on Bryan, so they are sweet and potent!

So I heard of this place for the first time a few weeks back and got to go a couple nights ago. When I first got there about 6:30pm the place was packed and the line to order was long. The line went quickly and then the food came out just as quick. I ordered one of their vegetable baskets with salmon. The vegetables were steamed. I am on a healthy eating kick so this meal was ideal for me. The food was yummy and I left full and content. I saw a lot of other dishes others were having that make me want to come back. The place is out of the way in the country and that is large of the charm. They are truly a local business and seem to support other locals which I like. Anyway, loved the place and the food. Well worth the drive out and I will return. I'd like to get out there for breakfast and lunch too.

A wonderful place here in Lexington (although way outside of town) that allows you to take a nice scenic drive to the outskirts of town to buy a bite to eat. The breakfast and lunch crowd during the week isn't bad at all. I like a lot of their po-boy sandwiches but my favorite is the fried crawfish for lunch or the egg po-boy for breakfast. Perfect spot to get a breathtaking view of all the fall colors when the leaves change.

Went on a Tuesday around 1pm and the place was packed. I imagine it's always busy. Me and my sister both had po'boy sandwiches I had mine on gluten free bread and it was delicious. The place never slowed down always crazy, I wanted to buy some Kentucky products but didn't want to wait in line again. Maybe next visit. My sister brings people here from out of town and it is a great choice as the country side is gorgeous and is only about a 20 minute drive. Overall a really cute place to stop for breakfast or lunch.

I wish Windy Corner weren't so far out town, but then each time I make the trip out there it makes me appreciate that I live somewhere so beautiful! I have eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner here and have never been disappointed in anything I have ordered. For breakfast I recommend the Browning's Country Ham and Eggs breakfast plate. Browning's country ham is my favorite and Windy Corner cooks it perfectly. The Weisenberger grits are also some of the best you can find locally. I usually get scrambled egg whites (shaving off a few calories where I miss them least) and I always get a side honey for the biscuit. For lunch/dinner, the BBQ Boy and the Shrimp Po'Boy sandwich are my favorites. I order the shrimp grilled instead of fried. The Healthy Grain Salad and the Black Bean and Corn Salad are my 2 favorite sides. I've never had room for dessert so I can't make any recommendations on that. Windy Corner should definitely be on everyone's list for places to take out of town guests.

It's a little restaurant in the middle of horse country. The po-boys are amazing. Stop reading this and go eat one. You need that food in your life.

The breakfast plates are wholesome southern cooking. No artificial ingredients (such as processed egg white) but they do not offer egg white omelettes either. The grits are flavorful, moist, and yet not fatty or greasy. The potatoes are fine. Bacon, trout and sausage patties are tasty and yet not too heavy (unlike Meadowthorpe). I wish they would offer salad or some veggies on the side during breakfast time, but this probably will never happen.

Went there today. Was underwhelmed, but may have been the menu choices. I had the country ham and Swiss po boy. It was ok. The taste of the ham was overwhelmed by the bread and other condiments. Wife had the smoked chicken basket. It wasn't very good. The chicken was dry and had no smoke flavor, if not for the sauce would have been tasteless. She also had a side of beans and slaw. Both pretty bland. Not sure if we will give another try or not. I should have gotten what I originally wanted, the oyster poy Bo. As far as ambiance, it's a nice place.. Beautiful drive out Bryan station road as well.

In a few months of time, this place has become my new favorite in Lexington. My first time here was a pleasant surprise because I didn't think I would find such a gem in the middle of farm lands. Food was freshly prepared and delicious. I tried fried oysters here and they were surprisingly juicy and crispy at the same time.. On several occasions to the windy corner, I had a chance to try a few other fried seafood items as well as BBQ items. Overall I have had pleasing experience with good service. However, on a recent visit during a busy time of the day, I was disappointed with the BBQ beef I had. I just hope they can maintain the quality as time goes by.

One of my favorites! I haven't been in quite a while, and have always wanted to try their brunch on the weekend, but I've never had a bad meal. The atmosphere is great. Lots of local and Kentucky items for sale inside and gorgeous scene outside and on your way to the restaurant!

I first tried Windy Corner Market early in 2013 and was immediately impressed by the quality of food. The baked goods in particular deserve mention: the bread in everything I've tried complimented the dish and was delicious in its own right. The seafood (I've tried the fried oyster po' boy and the shrimp and grits) was surprisingly good considering the location in the middle of Kentucky farmland. The barbecue is tasty and like most menu options is sourced from in Kentucky. There are many healthy options: the steamed dishes are well-balanced and well-cooked. The walls are lined with local market products and bulk foods, and while I have no interest in buying a gallon of mayonnaise there are many hard-to-find delicacies like canned possum and Screamin' Mimi's Salsa to browse and buy. There are also many baked goods on display behind the counter. I look forward to trying all of their cookies, pies, and scones; every one I've had so far has been great. Their menu is large, but everything I've tried so far has been good and I look forward to returning.

My mother lives about a half mile from Windy Corner Market, so it's not exactly a hidden gem for me. However, for everyone else it will be. This really is a great place to go to not only for the good, made on the spot food that is yummy, but the fact that the food is provided by local farmers and food distributors. If you want to support the community, this is a great way to do so. Sitting on the porch, watching the horses makes a visit much more enjoyable. Excellent breakfast menu and best of all, the prices are good. Once you order, the food comes up in decent time. The only thing I didn't like was the 15-20 minutes of standing in line just to order. I know there could be a better method to ordering. It's time to seat the people and have a waitress take the order at the table. I noticed that there were too many people standing in line bumping into the chairs and tables of people sitting around. I hear people ranting and raving about the Po'Boy, so I'll try it next time. You should make to drive to get out there...it's worth it.

Long line to place order, then even longer wait to get your food. 1.5 hrs for lunch. Food included dry pulled pork, so-so burger, great chic salad. Noisy w crying kids. Limited indoor seating w AC, can sit on screened porch or in yard outside.

Worth the drive and wait! We got lucky and arrived early on a Friday evening before it was very busy. We ordered at the counter and found a table. You seat yourself here so you can sit where your mood takes you. There is outside seating and tables in the back room in addition to the main dining area. The main dining area had many local products to temp your wallet such as honey, olive oil, jellies, and many others. I ordered the smoked chicken po-boy sandwich with chips. The smoked pulled chicken was nice and tender. Everyone at our table of four agreed there must be return visits to try other menu items. The staff was friendly and our food came out in a timely fashion.

Loved the ambiance & had lots of fun. The food was just okay & the desserts were just okay, too. Nobody really enjoyed their food that much but the place is super cute. If you like seafood you might enjoy the place better. Majority of the staff wasn't too friendly & I was expecting southern hospitality & it didn't exist there.

Tucked away in horse country is this restaurant/cafe. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner items. The also have ice cream and other sweets as well. My favorite thing that they offer are the Po-boy sandwiches. When I was there I had the roast beef Po-boy. Boy was it delicious. I'm definitely going back to try there other items. They have specials as well so check in often. Highly recommend if you are looking for some local flavor. Outdoor seating available.

Great food with in a beautiful part of Kentucky. Recently, I ordered fried crawfish tail salad (it's normally fried oyster salad). It was excellent with a smoked ranch dressing. It's not a fancy place but most everything I've had there has been really good.

Had breakfast here; eggs were prepared well, bacon and sausage very good. My wife's pulled pork sandwich was just "okay" however and the brownie she had for dessert was very dry. It took a very long time for my daughter to receive her hamburger and when she finally did receive it, it was not that good either. Overall food was just okay and pricey for what you get.

My friends and I stopped at Windy Corner Market for breakfast while on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. We arrived at about 9:30 am on a Sunday and there was no wait. However, by the time we left, about an hour later, it was starting to get crowded. I ordered the "Stone Cross Farm Sausage and Eggs" and it was REALLY good. You could tell everything, from the biscuits to the grits, was homemade (with love, of course). I also ordered the "Betty Ann" scone compliments of Midway School bakery (see my separate review on Midway School). If you're in the area, I would definitely stop at Windy Corner Market. They also carry locally made products: jellies, jams, condiments, etc., and even beer from nearby Town Branch/Alltech.

Large portions especially for my little girl. Big kids meal plus ice cream afterwards. We had the pulled pork chicken sandwiches which were good but didn't prefer the sauce.

A place like no other in Lexington even with the owner owning couple other places in town. Breakfast or lunch this spot is always on my short list. Yes you might find a wait to order but it's worth the short wait. Even more reason to go and slow down. Food choice not sure you can go wrong, pick what you like and try windy Corner twist on it, you will be happy. Don't forget to tip

The food, atmosphere, scenery, and customer service made it worth the short drive from our place near downtown Lexington. I ate here last night with the wife, and had an excellent experience. We had a slightly rocky start as they were out of the item my wife initially ordered, but they were quick to refund the difference ($2) for what we ended up getting (you pay when you order, they didn't catch that they were out of the vegan burger until after we'd paid), and comped us a dessert due to the mistake. The food is excellent (I had the tofu po'Boy--it was delicious, don't judge me), and everything on the menu looks amazing, especially if you're eating more meat than I am these days. The grain salad I had was a bit sweet for my taste, but the corn and black bean salad makes a tasty and relatively guilt-free side option. What I appreciated most about Windy Corner Market, in addition to the customer service, was the atmosphere. It's located out among some horse farms, which probably makes for a scenic drive when it's still light out. They have a great porch, and a fun interior displaying all kinds of foods, books, and other wares showcasing Kentucky. We'll definitely be back soon.

I don't love the counter ordering here, but the food makes up for it. Don't leave without having a slice of pie or a cookie!

Worth the short beautiful drive out of Lexington. I've never been disappointed in the food. It can be busy at times but if you time it right, the service is fast. Otherwise, it's worth the wait. The oyster po boy, basket and shrimp wrap is always on our order. The breading they use is fantastic! We tried the fried banana peppers today also, PERFECT! One of my favorite places for grub. The burgers always look good and one day I'll try, it's just so hard not to order the oysters. I def. recommend trying it out, it's good enough to bring out of town guests, which says a lot!

I've been a fan of Windy Corner for a while. Always ordered a Po Boy and left happy. Was much less impressed this time. Last night 5 of us had various Po Boys for dinner there. All of us enjoyed the contents of the sandwich but all of us were not impressed with the bad BREAD CHOICE this place has made for the bun. This was my first time back since they've been using much to hard of a 'pretzel bun' from Bluegrass Baking for this sandwich. Not a good change, Ouita! In New Orleans Po Boys are po boys not just from the meat or seafood inside, it's the bread! It must be a special type of Italian bread, a bit crusty on the surface and with a light, airy center. This was a dark brown tough bun fit for beef -as in hamburger at best - but never for a catfish, oyster or shrimp Po boy! Aside from being way too tough, the width of this bread was much too narrow; couldn't hold the contents of the Po boy and really ruined the Po Boy experience. We basically paid $13 for 5 fried oysters and pickles! Since this is the signature item on the menu here I'd suggest the restaurant move back to a better white bread that not only fits the "Po Boy" contents but stays true to the concept. I need a bun I can bite into. Call this a hoagie and charge less since the sandwich is diminished with the wrong bread. I'll be back - for a salad!

Lovely little dining spot for a relaxing dining and great specials. The best special to enjoy is the Shrimp and Grits on Tuesday evenings. Heavenly and delicious! The burgers are good and the Orzo salad is divine! Great place to bring your family and friends for a great meal!

What a cool little spot. This place used to be a run down conveinence store. It is a nice little drive out Bryan ave about 7 min from new circle rd. The food was good, nothing extremely special I had the Bluegrass burger which was good with bacon and beer cheese on it. But not worth $9 with chips. Danna had the Shrimp po boy which also was good tasting but only had 4 shrimp on it for $7 with fries. The dessert was also good. So the food is good but overpriced so if you dont mind paying extra and driving extra this is the place for you. We had a bottle of the Chateau Smith Cab it was not near what I expect out of a west coast cab. The flavors were weak and tasted watered down.

Really terrific atmosphere. Just beautiful and peaceful. I felt happy just being here and eating on the porch. The food is good, though I was hoping for just a notch *above* good (maybe "great"). I will be back for sure. It won me over.

Now that the restaurant isn't brand new and still working out kinks, everything is phenomenal. This is one of the best restaurants in Lexington. We took out of town clients here for dinner, and they wanted to go back for lunch the next day. Everything on the menu has been consistently good and I haven't had a wrong order in over a year, and it's become a staple of my "out to lunch" days. **Extra Tip. If you want a po-boy try it as a wrap. So much easier to eat and really great!

Another jewel in the crown of Ouita Michel. Just when I thought the quality was falling off a bit at Wallace Station (it is still delicious, but it's gotten ridiculously packed post DDD), I find out that it was going to this place. The Po Boys. Seriously. If you live/work downtown, take the trip out Limestone/Bryan Station for a long lunch someday. The Surf and Turf Po' Boy is awesome. The Fried Shrimp is as good as you'd expect. The crunchy earthy slaw is just right. The market is fantastic. Pretty much every great thing about an old country store reimagined with New Orleans flair in the Bluegrass Country. Laissez les bons temps rouler horse country.

Wonderful little restaurant. Certainly not convenient...but if it were in the middle of Lexington, it would lose it's charm! Great menu, fresh and healthy food, local ingredients...all smack dab in the middle of horse country....in fact, you'll be looking out the window at some horses while you eat. Do notice, however, that I used the word eat, and not dine. This is a decidedly casual place, expect your food in a basket in most instances...which is really more my style, but not for some. This is a true central, KY gem, a great place to take out of towners. I love the sides, the desserts are good, and the po boys are solid too. My only beef? No draft beer. Thanks to the owners for adding another great option to Lexington's food scene!

The fried shrimp Po'Boy is awesome! Same as everyone else - I love the homemade sauce and bread it's made with. We also went for breakfast. Had a wonderful ham biscuit with white cheddar cheese and some sausage gravy and biscuits - both were outstanding! Service is fast and friendly in this quaint locally owned and operated establishment. Enjoy a nice scenic ride out through horse and farm country then sit back and relax and experience some wonderfully fresh food and cold drinks.

Excellent! Excellent country food served by friendly staff and in an adorable old general store atmosphere. They promote fresh locally raised meat and fresh produce as much as possible. Good description is gourmet chief providing classic country home cooked meals. The roads to get there are scenic Kentucky horse country.

Summary: enjoy your dinner; stop elsewhere for dessert. Wish I could thank the anonymous family who recommended WCM to us while we passed on a hiking trail in Red River Gorge. Instead of depressing fast food on our way home to Cincinnati, we enjoyed fresh, healthy, local cuisine. The winners: artichoke fritters; orzo salad; fried catfish; spicy remoulade on anything; corn salad; and pulled chicken on a corn cake. Next year we'll be back to try some of the po' boys. Portions are large and none of us could finish what we ordered. One disappointing spot: baked goods. Blueberry and raspberry/macadamia muffins were just average, and the ginger cookies were dry and bland.

Great place to go to just to get away or feel like your are getting away. Located in a beautiful spot in Lexington. But the smoked roast beef sandwich I had was uninspiring. The fries extremely basic and unappealing. The soft serve ice cream was ok. I expected a lot more.

This place is adorable. I wasn't crazy about the sauce on my tofu po' boy, but all the meat eaters loved theirs, so next time will just come a bit earlier to sample breakfast options. But anyway, the next time you have a lazy Sunday, take a country drive out here and linger over lunch with a handful of friends or a New York Times crossword (or both). You won't regret it.

If you have been waiting to try this place don't wait any longer. Go. It is worth the drive and the wait. Four of us went for the first time today and we will certainly go back.

A friend I was visiting in Lexington was fretting over where to take me for dinner and Windy Corner won out. I'm so glad it did. Windy Corner is definitely one of the coolest places I've found in Lexington! To begin with, the line speaks for itself. On a Friday night at 6, this place was crazy. The line moves decently quick (although I would advise bringing some entertainment, both human or inanimate to make it go quicker) and it's fun to have time to take in the ambiance of the place. I grabbed some beef jerky off the wall first as a joke, but when I tried it later, I found it was quite the opposite. To give you an idea, you can only get it in Paris or online (although online you pay quite a bit more). And when I got it back to Columbus to share, there was quite a bit of buying online. Seating was a bit of a problem and three of us ended up at a two person table. It's not so crazy that we couldn't have changed tables, but at that point, we were just ready to eat. I kind of hate seat yourself places for this reason. It becomes a frenzy just to get a table that no one has staked out yet. This might partly have had to do with the live band in the back, making things fun, but a lot louder and crazier than they probably are usually. At least the food was worth the wait. Locally sourced food and so many options made us eager to share and try each other's dishes. I got the catfish, which I felt pretty good about (although it is spicier than I would have thought!). In general, it felt like the down home quality of the cuisine was spot on. Definitely want to check this place out again (especially since part of their menu and specials are seasonal)!

A true Kentucky jewel, the Po Boys are the best you can find in the region. There are local products for sale on every wall and a beautiful setting in the bluegrass surrounded by horse farms. Sometimes the line can get long but I've never felt it not worth the wait. Fresh made desserts from Midway college finish it off and the Peach Mango tea is always fresh brewed and refreshing.

Great place for a casual lunch or dinner. Wide selection of burgers, sandwiches, plates, drinks and desserts...and they all sound and seem to be very good. My catfish dinner Friday special was a treat. And the beer is good. Same owners and ambiance as Wallace Station with a higher quality of menu items. Was packed on a Friday evening in April so try to go at less busy times...and definitely when there are no big events in the horse world.

A great place to visit when in Lexington. Drive north on Paris Pike (US 27) to see beautiful horse farms on the way there. The food is delicious whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner. Expansive windows give diners a view of the horse farms that surround the restaurant. Waking up with a country ham, egg and white cheddar biscuit and coffee is a perfect start to one's day.

Went to Windy Corner as one of our "Girls Friday Lunches". Not impressed. The beautiful drive from Lexington was a little longer then we expected. Upon arriving, we were a bit confused at the parking, until we realized we WERE allowed to park in the small gravel pit across the road. We entered into the quaint little building, but is was chaos. The line was long, and we had to walk thru the line in order to get to the end of the line. We picked up a flimsy paper menu and stood in line forever. Once at the counter, the people were very short with us. There were 4 of us, each giving a separate order and payment. Since 3 of us have the same 1st name - I think it REALLY confused the staff. We decided to sit on the 'patio' which is not really a PATIO, but rather paver bricks with plastic tables and chairs. There were cob webs in the plants. It took forever to get our food, and that was only have going back in to inquire about it. Three of us finally got service, but the 4th had to wait....and wait....and wait. So long that we were almost done by the time she got her food. No one ever came out to check on us, and we had to make 3 trips back in to get either the correct order, napkins or a refill. The food didn't impress either. The scenery was awesome tho.... with a horse farm across the road you are sure to see beautiful animals. The restaurant is located at a 4-way stop....but no one really stops. It's more of a "pause and go like hell" 4-way. I was hoping for much more. Wouldn't mind the drive if the food, service and overall experience would have been better. Don't think we'll be back. Maybe it was because they were so busy??? Not a fan.

I was so excited to try out Windy Corner.... I had heard only positive feedback, and of course any Ouita venture turns into success. As expected, the food was brilliant, the atmosphere was charming, and the staff was dedicated and helpful. My husband and I both ordered the oyster po' boy, and our 3-year old daughter shared some pintos and fried cornbread. We devoured everything... I loved everything about our experience. Even the view on a dismally rainy day was lovely. We look forward to returning and trying one of these burgers that everyone seems to be raving about.
