For lunch the value is excellent, for less than $10 you can have a great lunch.

The food was very good. My wife said her fish was a bit overcooked and dry but my steak was perfect. The waiter was new but pleasant and efficient.

So, I had a family lunch here recently and was completely underwhelmed from start to finish. TL;DR=never again. Everyone was given two menus...except that both menus had the same items, some with the same price, some identical items with different prices and when we ordered it was not clarified which portion was being ordered, if that was the difference. Eh? Then there's a children's menu (getting that one requires begging, apparently - the host doesn't just assume that a little one should get one). Gah! Server was awkward, inefficient, & slow-moving, even though it appeared he only had a couple of tables. My party might actually have succumbed to dehydration, given how long it took to get our meals relative to beverage service (if they fill a 12 ounce glass over 3/4 full of ice that is apparently unmeltable & add 3 oz of a beverage, they're going to need to serve more than one refill per hour...which is frankly how long our meals took to arrive). Server apologized for delay by saying that since we didn't order salads, service took longer. Hmmmm...yeah, that's not how proper order expediting is supposed to work, but whatever. Buns for burgers / sandwiches were either over-toasted or stale. Either way, inedible. Children's meal "pizza". Ugh. Just no. Kiddo ate two bites, under pressure from Grampy Clean Plate before giving up entirely. When GCP took a bite, he shut it. If it wasn't Lean Cuisine, it might as well have been. House pork chop was served with some truly nightmarish marmalade onion mushroom glop in a condiment dish, which might have helped with the overcooked & dry chop if it didn't taste like the rotten death of all hope. Petite pork chops had hidden bits of bone (rather than the typical identifiable chop bone that a diner can simply cut free of the meat portion of the chop) that were hard to avoid. After needing to Emily Post three bites after nearly breaking teeth on bone shards, I gave up. It didn't help that the chop was so salty that it literally hurt my mouth to eat it, even when I wasn't risking cracking a tooth or a puncture injury while chewing. Mac 'n' cheese. Tastes like...chicken broth? Not cheesy at all. WTBF? That's like ruining Christmas. Not cool. Baked sweet potato and sweet potato fries were good. That's all that rated as edible, considering eight different meals, 13 different sides, and an unmentionable appetizer. About seven minutes after our meals were served (awkwardly - SMH, don't servers and runners get training???) we were ready to leave, our food mostly uneaten. Not good, but (including wait for food) certainly not the fault of a server...unfortunately, the finger wiped thru the (not requested and pointless, as I didn't order anything one would normally want ketchup with) ketchup ramekin placed on my plate *was* the server's fault. Gross. Seriously effing gross. Who serves a plate with a four inch smear of ketchup across the food? (Yep, he really, really did.) In fairness (second star is being generous), our reservation was during the Sunday early afternoon time frame when many casualish dining restaurants get slammed with customers who "tip" with unwanted coupons or prayers. But that doesn't make shitty food and shittier service ok...(And, for the record: Mr Ketchup Wiper got his 20%.) Just one more thing if you're planning on eating here: they have adequate parking...there are three interconnected lots to the side and rear of the restaurant that had literally dozens of spots available (and the third lot was entirely empty), even during a busy Sunday afternoon. Patrons don't need to be effing assholes parking in driving lanes, on the grass, blocking others in, or double parking on the frontage road. I never want to eat here again, but hey, if I did, I wouldn't act like a complete asshat to other customers.

When we travel to our destination of Hilton Head, this is our food stop. We have been to a few in Tennessee and became a fan. This restaurant has the best prime rib sandwich. It is reasonably priced and so flavorful. The menu itself is extensive. Unfortunately Illinois does not have this restaurant. We look forward to coming back in the near future.

Very good overall! Good atmosphere, great food. I had a ribeye that was cooked exactly the way I wanted it. I also had their soup of the night which was a shrimp bisque. Very good. And the check was not too bad either! Overall, great experience.

Been Awhile, But Was Always Good Loved all the meats, soups, breads and everything else.. Try to get a table next to the fireplace if you can.. The baked sweet potato is delicious too.. PRetty much everything ive ever ate.. Will have to eat there again soon so that I can update my review and make it fresh.. From what i remember though everything was quite tasty and in my opinion a better value than Malones..

One of the bartenders in our hotel across the street, the Doubletree Inn, recommended this place when he found out how much my wife and I enjoy steaks. So, from the get-go, we knew that this place must have a decent reputation. Sure enough, we were not disappointed in the quality of the food or service. We both ordered the filet and shrimp special which was recommended by our server. Everything was succulent and cooked to our liking. However, it seemed the serving sizes were a bit on the small side. For example, I only received two shrimp as part of my entree. I was thinking 3-4 shrimp at least as the norm. Even though our company for the night was a little late, the server did not give us attitude or anything. Instead, he was courteous, and we tipped him accordingly. There is a special Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Beer Ale on tap which I highly recommend. There is a moderate selection of wine on the menu, too. While not usually ones to sit around and chat that long in a restaurant, my wife and I were there for a long while (around two hours). The ambiance was intimate and welcoming. We will definitely return when we are back in the area. Good steak and good times.

I have been several times. The food has always been excellent. Last evening, I went there hoping to enjoy a savory meal. I was immediately seated, but it took almost 15 min for someone to come to the table and take my drink order. That was annoying because I was thirsty. Then the waiter talked me into getting the filet with shrimp scampi on top. I don't really like shrimp, so I should've gotten steak with bearnaise sauce, like I had intended. That's my fault, I can't blame them...I gave into peer pressure. The steak came out. It all looked wonderful. I took my knife and cut into the steak and blood poured out. I ordered it well done (yes, I like my steaks burnt). I called the waiter over and he apologized and took it to recook it. Upon his return, the steak looked like a new piece. Much to my chagrin, the 2 pieces were just pushed back together. At least it was well done now. The steak was delicious. The shrimp - they were not delicious. My potatoes were now luke warm as they did not replace them. This review is based solely on last nights experience.

Great service, great food...really great food cooked to perfection. A bit dark inside...which I liked but if you have aging eyes you may need to bring a small flash light to read the menu..how do I know? That's what the older couple at the next table had to do.

I was down for Keeneland in April with some friends and it was their choice this year to choose the Saturday dining experience. She chose The Chop house which I had been to before years ago but wasn't impressed when I ate there. I felt like the food was overpriced and that I could have done a much better job cooking a steak at home. Fast forward to April of this year, we arrived around 7:30 for dinner-After a short wait we were shoe horned into a small four top next to the fire place. I decided to choos the prime rib (which they tout is slow roasted to "Perfection") and I don't recall what my sides were but I guess that speaks to how memorable they were. (Sorry, it was last April) Anyway, our salads soon arrived to the table with the ever present loaf of bread at the table. The salad was okay with the exception of the pool of water in the bottom of the bowl-sloppy prep! All in all it wasn't that bad though. Our Entres soon followed and at first glance my prime rib appeared to be cooked to my liking. I started working on the bottom of the piece and worked my way to the top-I tend to like the herb crust at the top so I save it for last. At any rate I worked my way up and as I was about 2/3 the way to the top the texture of the meat began to change to what could best be described as "Paste". It got worse as I got closer to the top. I alerted our uninterested server to it and she brought the manager over to the table-he was probably all of 25 years of age. I told him of the problem and he told me that because they slow roast it, and the method in which they do it that it is supposed to be like that. Now I have had several pieces of prime rib in my life and I have never ran into meat paste at the top. I told him that it has become inedible and he said he was sorry I did not like it but that is how they cook it. He did remove the cost of the entre from our ticket though which I appreciated. Our bill that removed was still in the high 30's which I was somewhat shocked by since my wife had chicken. At any rate I can't say I was impressed and most certainly won't go back to this establishment if I can help it. There are much better steak places like Malones for example that i'd rather spend my money.

We were pleasantly surprised finding this restaurant close to our hotel in on the way to NC. They have a delicious $10, $11, $12 menu on weeknights. I had 2 beef medallions covered in a garlic butter sauce & topped with a jumbo shrimp on ea with a side of asparagus. It was so tender & delicious! I also enjoyed a 9 oz house cabernet sauvion for $8. We dined on the patio & all the wait staff we're friendly. Unfortunately we were only staying 1 night or I would have been back the next night!

Went to The Chop House for dinner and learned from a friend that they have a "special $10-$12." menu. This menu had never been offered on all of our previous visits to the restaurant. One of my dining companions requested it, so I have to wonder if they hope to maintain this as an insider secret. I had not had their famous pork chop, so on this night I ordered it. It came with a very large baked sweet potato with maple butter and a small dish of sautéed apples. No veggies. I'm sure this pork chop is a smaller version or the original, but it was deliciously tender and quite enough for me. I would have liked a little something green, but for $12. a decent deal.

Absolutely amazing from appetizer to desert. Impeccable service and food. My favorite resturant in Lexington!

This place seems hit and miss based on what you order. Chicken tortilla soup was a hit. My NY Strip must have been marinated with something to give it this extra "wang" to it. I almost decided that the steak was old, but I could not be sure. My son's filet was perfect though. My wife's filet medallions was exactly what she wanted, so maybe it was just the NY Strip. Service was exceptional.

I have been to the Chop House many times and have always been happy with the food and the service. However, my last visit was incredibly disappointing. The waiter was nice enough, but communication broke down somewhere. When the salads came out, the waitresses were very confused about who got what. And, one of them got a little impatient with us when we tried to help them. The delivery of the main course was even worse. Half the people in our party (of 7) got their food while the other half had to wait another 10 minutes. The first delivery had four steaks - one was overcooked, one was the wrong cut of meat. and one was the wrong size. All were sent back, and the kitchen returned one of the steaks insisting it was the right cut. The trained chef in our party confirmed it was wrong. Because he had not received his food yet, the waitress said, "Well, do you want this one since you don't have any food?" When the chef said no, he would wait for what he ordered, the waitress was visibly angry. When the second half of the food arrived, the rest of us were finished eating. The steaks in the second round were also cooked incorrectly but were eaten anyway so we could get closer to leaving. An adjustment was made to the bill, and the manager tried very hard to make it up to us, but he did not have much to work with. I felt sorry for him. I do not know if I will go back - I suppose if dinner companions really want to go there, then I will.

What an awesome restaurant! My husband and I ordered baked scrod, baked potato and salad -- and it was absolutely delicious!! A table near us was celebrating a birthday, so a waiter came to them, opened his mouth -- and out came this amazing baritone voice...and everyone around just went quiet, to listen! Great atmosphere at this place -- it was a special evening! It wasn't until two days and 200 miles later that I realized I had left a favorite jacket at the restaurant. I called -- and they found it! After speaking with the Manager and Asst. Manager (Van and Brandon), they mailed my jacket back to me in Texas!! Now THAT is amazing customer service, which I will NOT forget. If we make it back to Lexington, we will truly look forward to eating there again. THANKS, you guys!!! -Rhonda Rogers, Union Valley, TX

We stopped here (again) on our way home & it is, without a doubt, one of our most favorite places to eat in Lexington, KY!! The chops are simply PHENOMENAL!! However, their mac & cheese is just as good...& their salads, baked potatoes, iced tea, etc. Just a great place to eat!! Recommended highly!!

Food was just ok, kind of bland. Do not order the crab cake, as there is really no meat, just bread. They have a 10-12 menu that is a good deal and is where I got my filet medallions, although they were def not equal size! Chocolate mousse cake was delicious though and the bartender was very friendly and knows her sports!

The steak is just ok, nothing special really. To accurately describe it would be over priced Golden Corral quality steak with a little nicer atmosphere. I would not go back.
