Rincon is a normal Mexican restaurant, with an authentic menu and good staff. They are situated in a convenient and nice neighborhood, but the interior is dark. The food is fine, but nothing spectacular.

It's okay, but I think it's fallen a lot from its peak. If I'd written a review 10 or 15 years ago, it would be 5 stars. There was a time when this was the best Mexican in Lexington and I'd eat here a few times a month. Last week I went here with my family for the first time in maybe 5 years. I had very fond memories of Rincon, and thought I'd enjoy it again. I didn't. Not really. It's still the same place, but the service was a little slower than I remembered, the portion sizes a little smaller than I remember, and the food was actually kinda bland and nondescript. Now it's much like any other family-owned independent Mexican eatery in Lexington, which we have many of. It's adequate, but either it's lost that spark it once had, or my tastes have changed a lot. For what I paid for lunch and a drink, I think I would have been happier just going to Chipotle.

How disappointing. I have eaten at Rincon many times over the yearsCon. Couldn't get any of our order right. Had to wait nearly an hour for food to arrive. The manager was very unsympathetic

Happy hour 4-7 everyday. I may have just found my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Lexington! I don't know why I haven't tried this place before. I ordered the vegetarian fajitas for $9.49 and asked that they not add too much oil. The vegetables came out fresh and perfectly cooked...not to mention that the portion was huge. I loved the atmosphere and colors. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers for another spot on rating/recommendation.

It is what it is. A solid Mexican place with great service and great salsa.

They have the best chips and salsa I've ever had in Lexington.

Definitely the best Mexican food in Lexington. Great atmosphere, complete with brightly painted wall murals and an often-seen man with sombrero playing Mexican tunes on the guitar and serenading during your meal.

Til now, our favorite Mexican restaurant was down in Nicholasville. I was telling my wife we needed to find a solid place to go here in Lexington. We thought of Rincon and decided to try it. It was a good choice. I had the Burrito con Carne Asada. It a flour tortilla wrapping steak and drizzled in cheese sauce. With rice and beans on the side, it was just what I was looking for. My wife had the Burrito Rincon with chicken and was equally pleased. The decor is pleasant and colorful. The spot is cool, but easy to miss if you're not looking. Take the stairs up and enjoy your meal. Buen provecho!

Definitely not the best Mexican food in Lexington. No, it's fine. It's near campus. I get it. It's way better than chain Mexican/El Chico or whatever. There are, however, seriously good taquerias in town where you can experience excellent carnitas, lingua, and al pastor. This place definitely has mass appeal. The margaritas are passable. Good for groups, good for kids/picky eaters. If you like white "cheese dip" you will like this place. I like white cheese dip. It's fine. But, i you want something a bit more interesting, this city has a lot of better options.

Pretty good food with excellent service. The margaritas are ok. It's not as authentic and tasty as El Rancho Tapatio but I sure do love the ambience at Rin Con.

I used to be a big, giant fan of Rincon. Not sure what happened. Either I grew out of them, or they got worse. The decor is still fun...the location is still fun...but the food. Man. The food just doesn't hold up. There's too many other good options for Mexican food in the area now...along with some other great Latin American restaurants. The last time I went...a few weeks back...the food was too greasy and flat. The flavors should be big and bold...and they just plain aren't. I hate to say it...but for the money, I'd rather even go grab some food at Chipotle than Rincon....not to mention half a dozen other Mexican restaurants. I think I'm over it.

Wow. So disappointing. I remember Rincon having really great food. I don't know if they've changed or if I have, but we did not enjoy our dinner last night. The chiles rellenos (battered and deep fried cheese-stuffed chiles) were super soggy and greasy. The "awesome" refried beans and rice I remember from before were bland. The spicy chicken chimichanga was surprisingly bland. Our food came out lightning fast (microwave, anyone?). The margaritas were watery and tasted like they came from a mix. Not worth it for $5.25! Over all, the food isn't terrible. It's just over priced fast food.

It's not bad. The Enchiladas Rancheras are worth going for! Typical fare otherwise.

Eh...maybe if you're drunk or haven't eaten in days...the mahi mahi tacos were dry with greasy cabbage and no flavor. Rice was bland, margaritas weak. Not a fan- go to la marquesa instead!

Come if you're a) hungry and want to stuff your face with Mexican carb-wrapped protein or b) thirsty and want to get wasted with their large selection of beverages. Tortilla chips were crisp and tasty. The salsa could be better, but whatever. I really enjoyed my obviously-microwaved burrito de carne asada. PS. get your bill and pay at the front. orrrrr wait forever at the table.

Rincon is upstairs above bar/restaurant Charlie Brown's on Euclid Avenue. The dishes are typical of most of the dozens of other family-owned Mexican restaurants in Lexington. Rincon, however, has the best fajitas in town in my opinion. I particularly like the fajitas huastecas, a mixture of chicken, beef, and shrimp. Try them with a few drops of the green chili sauce in the bottles on some of the tables. The clientele is a mix of local campus types: college students, professors, etc.

I love Rincon. Really great Mexican food for a great price. I'd give it five stars if the chile relleno was better. Don't miss Rincon.

Eh, Rincon is just OK. However, I do remember being an beautiful, undergrad Spanish student, yearning to get bonus points with Rincon as an excellent, and only, choice to make such a thing happen. Tortulia anyone??? Ah, the memories.....My friend Jennifer taking 21 shots on her 21st birthday...Me,knocking a few back at the tender age of 19. Thanks for the memories, Rincon. I love you, but not your food.

Location is probably their best quality. I love the interior; it's stereotypical mexican restaurant style but it feels really cozy to me...very colorful with murals covering the walls. The food is, as stated, pretty good but nothing exciting. They are generous with the chips y salsa. This is pretty much where I go for Lex Mex. lol

edit: there have been some more Mexican places coming into lexington which are probably cheaper and better than rincon. One place to try is Jalapeno's. After going to Sedona and eating at the Elote Cafe though, I've decided that all of the Mexican food around here is pretty uninspired. Hopefully i'll find a place that will prove me mistaken. The decoration of this Mexican food shop is creative and original. The food, while not that creative, is good quality. Perhaps a little overpriced compared to Jalapeno's (another Mexican place) and arguably not as good, but a great college joint with respectable specials on Margaritas and other drinks if that's your thing.

Ok food, but we went there a lot for the 2-for-1 margaritas on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'd never choose the place, but I never really minded going there.

    Greasy and noisy.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
