Came to this place simply because I bought a groupon and I've never been. I am sure glad I did so, because this place is amazing! The chef, Cai was patient with my friend and I as we decided what to get on our, "build your own roll." The process goes like this: you have a choice between seaweed wraps or soy, white or brown rice, all or any of the veggies, and the different proteins (tuna, shrimp, salmon, crab, spicy tuna & spicy salmon which is just an extra dose of Sriracha sauce or also the shrimp tempura) and you can half your roll and try different proteins if you'd like. They're very accommodating. I've since returned after using my groupon and have introduced this place to 5 of my close friends. You can't go wrong with this spot. And their cucumber water is very pleasant especially if you put too much spicy sauce on your roll, that cooling cucumber water is very refreshing.

I love this concept for sushi. Fast, casual, pick your own fillings, it really is a neat concept. The rolls are rolled big, not small and tight like traditional sushi. So this is more of an americanized version of sushi. The sushi was tasty. I ordered a special roll which was in the $10 range--a bit pricy, but not completely unreasonable. My husband ordered a spicy tuna roll. He liked the flavor, but he thought the pieces were a bit big. We ordered the fried pork dumplings as well. They were ok, but just basic, nothing super exciting. Overall, we loved the concept and the flavors of the rolls so we will eat here again. Things to know, this is not traditional sushi, you can get bacon on and in it. This is a fun, new way of thinking about sushi, so keep an open mind.

If you're looking for affordable sushi in the Fayette Mall area, this is the place to go! Make sure you use their check in coupon! Large sushi roll plus a free app or beverage for about $11, what else could you ask for?!

Great sushi for the price. It's not very busy and the cooks are nice and friendly. I'm for sure coming back again!

Delicious sushi! Loved being able to build my own sushi rolls. I wish the price was a little lower $20 for two rolls is a way to high for me.

These days you can get sushi made in your local grocery store but only during specific hours which leaves you having to choose from what they prepare and leave in the cooler... This is where Red Bang Bang comes in! You can have your sushi, made the way you like it with fresh quality ingredients and eat it in their clean, well-lit dining area. They have also have a few roll-options to choose from if you prefer to have a menu to choose from. I really enjoyed the rolls we chose. One Bang Bang Roll and a Philly roll. They offered several sauces and toppings at the end. Next time I'll ask for "easy" on the sauce. The very nice cashier gave me a free try of the Miso Soup. I loved it! I also took home an imported soda to taste (unique selections, l like Lychee). If you have a sweet tooth, they do sell Mochi Ice Cream balls. It's not made in-house but its still a nice treat (my favorite is Mango). I'm returning soon and if you are a sushi fan (yes, vegetarians too) you should give them a try!

We purchased a Groupon and wanted to try this place out. We tried the Monster Roll, Mermaid Roll, Katie Roll and a Spicy Tuna Roll. Everything was wonderful and fresh! The rolls are huge. Great food for a good price. Very happy with our experience. The owner was very friendly and asked us how everything was. We will definitely be back.

The best way I can describe Red Bang Bang Sushi is as a Sushi Subway. You create your own rolls by picking out the components while the person behind the counter puts it together. It's quite cool; they have a good amount of different options. -We went as a group comprised of four sushi-loving first timers and one wacko sushi aficionado (I love you, Con) claiming we should all try this place out. Every person in the group was very pleasantly surprised. The sushi was delicious and the amount was big enough that some of us couldn't finish it all. We had no idea this place was here and so close to Fayette Mall! I would recommend not getting the sauce over yours or having it put on the side if you haven't had it before as I didn't like as much as there was on it. The tuna was delicious, by the way. Definitely a good experience; would recommend to the sushi fans out there!

Was skeptical as I walked in and ordered but the sushi actually tasted fresh. I was full with one roll, which was a good size, and their crab salad which was good. I'd definitely come back. It's nice to be able to pick what goes in your sushi rolls. They have a fountain drink machine as well.

I haven't even finished my first meal yet, but this place is awesome. Going to be my go-to for Sushi. Having a choice in your order is great. Portion size per price is GREAT GREAT. Sushi places like this don't come along here that often. Sushi Lovers turn up and show up.

Disclaimer: I eat sushi with a fork. There, now that we have that out of the way, I'll proceed. This place is the Subway of sushi. I don't know if sushi snobs would like it or not. I love it. They have soup and salad options too but I think those are just to go along with a sushi roll. You start with your choice of a seaweed, or soy wrap. Now come to think of it, I could've stuck with the plain rice shell without the wrap. Then you choose whether you want plain rice or brown rice. Then you choose your protein. The protein for sushi doesn't always mean raw fish. They have cooked chicken as well. I say this because while I was sitting there eating, two groups of people walked in and walked straight out after they learned that all they served was sushi. Really people? It's pressed rice! You walk into an Asian fare restaurant and not like rice?! Ok, back to the point, next you choose your veggies and then your sauce. The options are posted and I took pictures and posted them here. I opted for my sauce on the side but the spicy mayo sauce was excellent. The wasabi sauce wasn't my cup of tea but I liked their plain wasabi. All for under $8... Not bad if you ask me. I'd like to say that I tried the ice cream, but I didn't. The sushi roll was big enough for me at lunch time.

Sushi for people who hate real sushi. Bacon really?! If you want real sushi this isn't the place to look. If you want chicken and bacon in your rolls, then you've found your spot. There were no real raw, traditional sushi options and the cuts on the fish were not what I expected at all. The selection is just bad. That being said, the staff was helpful and nice.

I was pretty skeptical at first, as the pricing seemed a bit at a premium for fast casual, but as other have stated the roll is big enough and makes a fine meal with soup. THe soft drinks are a bit overpriced at $2 with not a lot of variety (e.g., no unsweetened iced tea from the fountain). I was surprised to be the only person in the restaurant at lunch considering the positive reviews here, but that comes and goes I suppose. Overall solid food for lunch but definitely a touch on the "too expensive" side if I had to nitpick, but great as a change of pace.

It's quick sushi. What can I say. 5 star it's not but that's not what they are going for. The concept isn't new but it is for the states. They do a great job of quick and affordable. It is still not cheap but the experience is worth it and the staff is friendly and helpful. Good for getting your sushi fix on the run. They also have gluten free options such as spicy mayo and GF soy sauce.

Great place for Sushi! Price is a "tad" expensive but it's not to the point where it would at all affect my decision or stop me from eating here. Nice dining room. Clean. Friendly staff who always strike up conversation (if it's not busy) or if you have questions. Their miso soup is good, as is their seaweed salad (love it)! The only real downside is the fact that it's near the mall. I avoid Fayette Mall / Nicholasville Rd like the plague. If this place were in the Hamburg or downtown area, I would eat here at least 1-2x a week! Sushi Snobs might not like it but it's great sushi and isn't terribly expensive. Definitely bigger and better than the stuff you can get at Kroger or other grocery stores.

Soooo Good. I've been here 4 times sense I discovered Red Bang Bang Sushi. The staff is great! It's laid back and super modern. They have it set up to please everyone. From the nervous novas to the balls to the wall sushi connoisseur. I give Red Bang Bang 5 stars!!

The sushi was very delicious. Was a bit disappointed in the miso soup, however, it was quite bland.

Guy at counter - manager? owner? - called it the Subway of sushi. Ok. It's probably that. And I don't like Subway. I don't know why we don't have tons of fast food sushi options as they likely do in Japan. This one doesn't wow or impress but it is fast food for about $8 a roll.

First of all, this place has great options for people who love raw fish and people who like things cooked, for people who are health nuts like me and want brown rice and veggies, for ladies who are preggers and can't eat raw fish but miss sushi desperately, literally everyone! The brown rice tastes really good, unlike at most places where it's awk and warm, there are options like tofu and egg, and fun veggies like pickled radishes. Also, the price is a great deal, 7-9 bucks for a ten piece roll that's huge. Customer service is also incredible, and I have been remembered, greeted, and treated like a VIP after coming only once! How many places actually remember their customers today! Well red bang bang sushi does and it's awesome! Will be coming back probably too much for my wallets liking :)

Fresh, fast and cheap. You get a sushi roll created for you with your choice of ingredients. Big, 10 piece rolls. Between $6.95 and $9.95. I loved it!

Love this place. Fast, clean, looks cool, service is great (plenty of friendly help if you don't know what you want), and the price for what you get is as good as I've found anywhere else in the area.

One the coolest places I've been in Lexington! Food, service, atmosphere, portions and pricing were all terrific. I will definitely be visiting again.

Tasty option for a quick and fulfilling bite. Their sushi rolls are quite big and options of fillings are plenty. Walk up to the counter and have fun with customizing your own sushi roll. Don't forget the specials board on the right. Those have good options but I don't remember seeing the prices listed there. So you could end up getting a special roll worth $12 when you were trying to stay under $9 (that happened to me!!!). As Ashley M. mentioned, you might want to ask them to be easy on the sauce or they will cover the roll with plenty of sauce. If you have any dietary modifications, let them know. The people working behind the counter know their ingredients and they will be happy to help you making a vegan or gluten free sushi roll. They also have soup, edamame, dumplings and a few other things you can add to your order. Don't expect the dumplings to be anything fancy. Remember, this is still a fast-food place and the dumplings served are straight out of a bag that can be purchased at the Asian stores in town. Regardless, the dumplings are decent and the miso soup is a good appetizer. One thing that doesn't work for me here is the ventilation. On each of my visits, I ended up walking out of here smelling like fried food. I guess when they fry shrimp tempura or other things, the place ends up smelling like grease instantly. On my first visit, as I walked in, I was welcomed by a smoky haze that bothered my already-dry eyes. I have a tendency to eat fast and on each of my visits, I was probably done with my food and out within 10 minutes, smelling like I was the one frying the food for the last several hours. I guess I just don't enjoy smelling like food when I'm out and about, meeting people. Overall, you should definitely keep this place in mind for when you are in a hurry, want to customize your food and enjoy a lighter fare. But please remember that the grease smell will join you on your way out!

I am so impressed with this place that I can't help but get right to the point: Red Bang Bang is, in a word, phenomenal. In two short days, it has managed to become my favorite sushi spot in the entire city--and possibly the history of ever, but I guess only time will tell! I originally heard about it from a co-worker who had seen a flyer for the restaurant in our break room (I work at the mall.) Excited about the prospect of make-your-own sushi, I popped in after my shift this weekend... I won't lie, I pretty much expected greatness. However, what I got was far from great. For me, it was near perfect. I walked in and right away noticed how clean the place was; I was also greeted immediately by the friendly staff, who practically made it their personal mission to assist me in my choices (going so far as to provide samples, which was awesome.) I ended up going with an avocado/cream cheese veggie roll topped with spicy mayo and tempura crunch and a seaweed salad on the side. Let me start by saying that at Red Bang Bang, you apparently get a LOT of bang for your buck. The rolls are massive in size and come in 10 pieces, and...well..you definitely won't be hungry after eating one. Mine was no exception, and it was absolutely delicious--the cream cheese/avocado combo was devilishly good without being too rich, and the seaweed salad was wonderful. Even better: everything tasted fresh despite the fact that it was made at 7pm on a Sunday. It's almost too good to be true. I'll end my love letter on this note: try Red Bang Bang if you like food. Yeah, if you like food... you will love it here. The concept of getting to pick what's in your sushi roll is innovative and generally amazing and even if you don't like sushi, I'm fairly sure you'll like what you get!

Great food, especially for the price and quantity you get. One roll of sushi is definitely enough to fill up a single person. The vegetables taste nice and refreshing, the sauces are savory and flavorful, and the meat is of good quality. The idea of being able to pick and choose your own sushi creation is a little surprising/overwhelming at first, but it's hard to create something undesirable especially since the workers guide you from making disasters. Being able to try sushi combinations that you've always makes each time you go a different experience. The taste of the sushi seems to always pan out and provide something new. I loved my experience and will definitely go again!
