First time visit, never eaten Thai food. I asked the server for his recommendations and he said he'd only worked there for a month and didn't know much about the food. The dining room was clean, but the staff seemed frantic. I'm guessing they were short handed. Their health dept score was only 95, so I was a bit nervous. We ordered the fried won tons, which were overcooked. No one asked us about them. I ordered the Paradise Chicken which was very good. I have no idea if it was real Thai food though. The food was good enough for me to return, but I'd need to see a big improvement in service to keep coming back. We were there under 90 minutes, mostly waiting on our orders to be taken and food to arrive. Yet the most attention that we received was the 3 times the lady asked us if we wanted to have a box. Message received, you wanted us to go.

If your looking for great Thai food this is one of the best that I have been to. If decor is your thing this is not the place for you. Clean. Very friendly. Fast fabulous service.

It's a 5 because there isn't a 6. Oh my goodness it's good. Red Curry Noodles and Pineapple Fried Rice are two of the several fine dishes here. Pad Thai, Planet Thai Noodles are awesome. Pot Sticker an appetizer make a full meal for a reasonable price. If I could, I would eat here often but I live across town. A hidden jewk in Lexington!

After trying all of the Thai restaurants in Lexington, my friends and I always find ourselves back at Planet Thai for the best Chicken Pad Thai in town! The portions are very generous (not a bad idea to share) and the prices are very reasonable. The service is great and their other menu items are wonderful too!

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Lexington. I have not ordered anything that I did not like. The atmosphere is dated and its a bit of a hole in the wall feel. Don't let the dated atmosphere loose focus on the good food.

Probably one of the best Tom Kha soups I've ever had. Also, the peanut sauce for the satay is excellent. Also, the Panang Curry with chicken was very tasty and just the right heat at a 3, on a scale of 1-5. Then there's the sticky rice with mango. Off the hook. Loved everything we ordered here tonight. Highly recommend if you like good, high quality Thai food.

The food was brought out to us very quickly, and it was good however my Pad Woon Sen tasted a little bland. Where before I've had it spicier in other Thai restaurants. And the egg flavor was a little egg-y. (As in a bit undercooked for a stir fry) Now I would've given it a higher rating if I didn't feel like they wanted us out. Seeing that we came in a full hour before close. Oh well. Not bad in all. Better Thai places out there though!!

Food will get a 4 star but place will get a 2 star!! Needs some clean up and beautification!! We ordered pineapple fried rice!! It not spicy n looked like the chef was a cashew fan!!!

I am sorry, but I can't give this place more than 1 star at this time. I had been here about 2 years ago and thought it was good so I brought my boyfriend here for dinner yesterday and we were both very disappointed. We walked in and No one greeted us and no one came over to seat us for about 5 minutes. There was hardly anyone in the place so they were not busy. We had two different waiters. They were nice enough, but awkward. We ordered crab Rangoon, it was bland and over-cooked with a terribly sweet sauce. I ordered a pot of chicken Tom yum soup, he ordered green curry. The Tom yum was the most disappointing thai soup I've ever had in my life. I love spicy authentic thai and this is far from it. The soup was too sweet and had no lemongrass or lime flavor. It contained only chicken, onions, frozen carrots, and canned mushrooms. That is not Tom yum soup to me. The green curry also contained obviously frozen vegetables. The same crinkle-cut carrots, green beans, mushrooms etc. The sauce was tasty but the rest of it was very very average. There are several really good thai place in town and you are much better off trying one of them instead. Try Nat's or Jasmine Rice. Yum! Planet Thai - blah.

My husband and I are in town visiting for one night and we wanted thai food. We found multiple places on yelp, several of which were much closer to our hotel. However, based on the menu, prices, and reviews, we chose planet thai. We were in kind of a hurry but we were immediately seated and everything quickly came out once we ordered. I chose the red curry noodles with tofu (spice level 2), my husband chose the drunken noodles with tofu (spice level 3), and we shared an order of crab rangoon. The crab rangoon were quite good but we both agreed the plum sauce was almost like honey. Not bad, just different. Our entrees came out not too long after our appetizer. We tasted each other's meals and I am still convinced they accidentally switched our spice levels. My noodles were spicier than his but not too spicy. Both dishes were good and the portions were huge. I wasn't a huge fan of their tofu. It was pretty mushy and not firm at all. But I would still order it again. I liked that they had a curry option with rice noodles instead of rice, but my entree actually came out with a side of rice as well. I really wanted to try the pad thai because it looked awesome in the pictures from other yelpers. Sadly we don't live close so we may never go back to try other things. But service was speedy and servers were friendly. If we are ever in the area again, we would probably go back.

I used to go to this restaurant every week when I lived in Lexington. I've been to numerous Thai places in Los Angeles and this place tops all of them. Can't wait to go back when I visit Lex. Hands down the best Thai in Lexington. So authentic & flavorful, hard to find that in 859.

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Lexington. The Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles are wonderful! Portions are large and service is great. The restaurant is located in a busy section of Lexington, so try to avoid peak hours when you go.

A stretch to get one star. We were in town for business and were looking for a light asian meal for dinner and found Planet Thai on Yelp. Everything looked great so we gave it a go. We were greeted and seated upon arrival, this was the end of our good experience. We ordered Planet Thai Rolls for appetizer to be served Spring Rolls (close enough right?). We are not sure what the Planet Thai Rolls tasted like but the Spring Rolls were not nice at all, a lot of pastry and not much filing. We also ordered a Pinapple Shrimp Curry and a Penang Chicken Curry for entree. Having eaten Thai food all over the world including Thailand this food was hands down the worst I have ever had. There was a very small ratio of protein compared to vegetables and the curry sauce was very, very runny. The curries lacked flavor and we did not finish them. We were asked if we would like a box to go, I replied "no thank you, I really didn't enjoy my meal as it didn't meet my expectations", through waiter then said okay and moved onto the next table. The best thing about Planet Thai is the establishment across the street, Panda Express were we went to get our fill of asian.

Thai planet hardly got its name from an array of spices or great food it offers! The spice rack was minimal and the egg drop soup was way too thick. The air-conditioning vents on the ceiling were in a major need of cleaning as well as the fish tank inside and out. Overall decor weak and uninviting,. Service was very slow and lax even though I was nearly the only customer in there. Pad Thai Chicken was a' ok but I got full after a few bites. Spring rolls came fried I must have failed to read the fine print. I am not sure if I want a spring roll fried. I have traveled many places and a co-worker and I go all over the country trying different Thai Restaurants and rating them. I am no expert in Thai food but I know what I know about great taste and customer service. No pictures to upload as of yet although the pad thai looked nice and tasted fine.

The best Thai I have had so far in Lexington, and I've been to many places. I am a tofu lover and every dish I have had from here-- currys, cashew, thai basil-- has been wonderful. Also recommend the shrimp mango curry for something a little different and delicious! Their thai iced tea is good, the service is good and food always comes out pretty quickly (take out is also reliably quick). It's not the prettiest place ever (but certainly not dirty or dumpy) but it is delicious and the lunch prices are VERY reasonable for the portion size. My one complaint is the egg drop soup that came with my lunch was overly eggy, too much so for my taste, but the taste of my entree far outweighed the soup. Check it out and go curry crazy, Lex!

I went here because I was capitulating to my girlfriend and mom's love for Thai food. I'm glad I did, because my pad thai was generous in portion size and tasted pretty damn good. My girlfriend loved her chicken fried rice (she's a Thai officianado), and said it had the right flavors and spices. My mom ordered the pineapple duck curry and, though it was blow-your-nose-off spicy, she loved it too. Check this place out!

Service: The waitress was friendly and quite prompt to bring drinks and came back often to check on us. Food: We ordered a combination appetizer, sweet & sour chicken, and chicken pad Thai. Appetizers were okay and came with a plum sauce that reminded me of honey. The sweet & sour chicken was really good and came with steamed rice. My pad Thai, ordered medium spicy, tasted great but wasn't very spicy. The portions of food were huge! Price: Fair. Some items seemed to be a bit over priced but where it's located, I was expecting the inflation. Atmosphere: Reminded me of any other Asian restaurant, but with a more diner feel. The place was clean and not crowded but we were sat next to another couple that was a bit loud. Oh well. Recommendation: Give it a try, at least once. You might fall in love with the food.

First, I have tasted quite a few Thai dishes between here and Toronto, and I can take quite a bit of spiciness. This place has pretty good service and some interesting decor. But the food! The peanut sauce was like watered down peanut butter, both for the salad rolls and one of their chicken dishes. You can tell the difference when something is made with fresh peanuts or a jar of JIF. The salad rolls were okay. It's a fine choice for vegans as a lot of dishes have a choice for tofu/vegetable and menu items are made with coconut milk. I love curry, I tried the green curry but it was super watery and overly spicy. It had more heat than actual flavor and wasn't very coconutty. I've heard lots of good comments of this place, and I'm not sure why.

Still on quest for good pad thai. We stopped here and have heard good things about it. Clean and friendly service. Wife got pad thai but it is orange and tastes sweeter than other pad Thai we have had before. When I say orange I mean like carrot orange. Not even a hint of spice. The kway koa was good though. Kids loved the giant fish too.

The food here is great, reminds me of some of the dishes I had when I visited Thailand. Our last visit, about a week ago was slightly disappointing. The food was just fine but it took over 10 minutes before we had a waitress come ask what we would like to drink, and she asked if we were ready to order. It was a bit off putting because it felt like we were being rushed even though we were sitting there for awhile. It was a Friday night and they seemed a bit understaffed, hopefully it doesn't happen again. Will for sure be order one of the curry or pad thai dishes next time I visit.

My husband and I just recently relocated to Lexington from Cincinnati and were anxious to try and find a Thai restaurant in the area. Based on yelp reviews we decided to give Planet Thai a go. It was incredibly disappointing and we will definitely not be back. I honestly cannot understand why this place has the rating it does. Service was mediocre. Appetizers tasted like they were from the frozen food section at krogers and the pad Thai was the most bland we had ever tasted. I wasn't expecting much to begin with especially by the ambiance of the place but it seriously was the worst Thai food we've ever had.

This is the best Thai restaurant in Lexington...or anywhere that I've tried. Do not let the size or decor fool you, the chicken Pad Thai is excellent. I once tried a tofu dish and didn't care for it much....so I stick with the same Pad Thai every time and I always have leftovers because the portion is huge.

This place has great food. There is a large variety of noodles and curry. The service is swift and sweet. Great for a lunch alone or with a small group since seating is limited and very close together. Prices are also very reasonable especially if you go during lunch hours.

I did not really enjoy this restaurant. The gf and I went for lunch. When we sat down the waiter asked us if there was anything we would like to start with. I ordered the spring rolls. An order of spring rolls is 5 rolls with a ramekin of what tastes like simple syrup. Opting for soy sauce instead these rolls were ok. Not much in them, just cabbage. The waiter dropped these rolls in the middle of the table and left. No side plates. When I waved him down and asked for a couple, he said you want more plates? Yes, I do. He went off and came back with two dinner plates. Next we ordered off of the lunch menu. I ordered prik poa pork thai hot, and the gf ordered vegetable pad thai. When our plates arrived they came with spring rolls standing up in the simple syrup. Ok, seven spring rolls. I think the waiter could have mentioned that lunch came with spring rolls. Maybe they could have subbed some other app since we had just had 5 spring rolls already. The pad thai the gf had was sweet. Incredibly sweet. She lives pad thai but she did not like this. My dish was watery. The sauce needed reduced. The pork had been boiled in the sauce so it was dry and tough. This very well may have been an off day but the problems were not just one person, it was several. If this is the best thai in lexington, as some yelpers claim, then I am very sad.

Well, the flavors were very good overall...but I was a little shocked to find that they used canned, sliced mushrooms in their thai food...both in the red curry with noodles and in the tom yum soup. All the other veggies were fresh, so why not the mushrooms too????? The other odd thing I noticed is that to "bump" up the heat level in the food they just tosses some crushed red pepper flakes in the dish, sooooooooo, not what I was expecting to "amp" the Thai heat ya normally get at a Thai place. So overall good flavor for the food, but I have been to much better. I wasn't disappointed in anything it was just good vs really good or great! Service was fast and friendly as well...so they were great on that aspect.

Just finished my 2nd Pad Thai lunch here this week. Fantastic! Especially after the miserable experience at Thai Orchid Cafe yesterday, (where I had to give 1 star and basically vow to never return) Planet Thai is the best Thai I've tried during my stay in Lexington. Food tastes great, staff is friendly, and their lunch portion of Pad Thai is bigger than Thai Orchid's dinner portion (that I paid to upgrade for) included a starter soup, tastes better, and is basically half the price? I'm sure the two restaurants will be closer in price soon, but Planet Thai will be missed as I leave Lexington tomorrow.

Started with the pot stickers, they were delicious! I was excited to dive into my Tofu Drunken Noodles. Unfortunately the meal peaked with the appetizer. The menu description said they came with bell peppers, tomatoes, onions and basil. There were green peppers and onions, but carrots instead of tomatoes. We ordered takeout, so I didn't feel like driving another 15 minutes for my juicy tomatoes. I've had a similar dish at Thai Smile in Frankfort, KY that blew this one away. My boyfriend ordered the Pad Thai and it was better, but what Thai place can't do Pad Thai? Overall, my noodles were a bit dry and bland; I'd rather drive the forty minutes to Frankfort!

I ordered the curried salmon and it was some sort of industrial salmon that was pre breaded and covered with flash froze vegetables and curry sauce. The calamari or fried squid, what ever the restaurant calls it was unrecognizable as it was heavily breaded and most likely a commercial product bought and simply dropped in a fryer. If I go to restaurant I do not want commercial prepped products that I can buy at Sam's. I say Sam's because Costco will have better quality than was prepared last night. Maybe my mistake was ordering other than Pad Thai.

My coworkers and I decided to give this place a try for lunch since my favorite place for my pad thai fix is no longer serving pad thai (Thai Orchid). At first the service was really quick. We ordered immediately when we were seated and our food did not come out until our lunch hour was almost over. Once we got our food I realized that they got my order wrong. It was so spicy that I couldn't eat it. When I told the waiter this he offered to have them make another, but that just made us another 15 minutes late from lunch. Then it took the woman at the register another 10 minutes to figure out how to do the bills. Almost an hour and half for lunch is pretty ridiculous for a lunch special during the week, and on top of it they still charged me for my doggie bag of pad thai that I won't have time to eat at work now. Very disappointing!

My boyfriend and I ate lunch here today and were very pleased. Our food came out fairly quickly and was nice and hot. Our silverware... Well, we had to wait for that. Our waiter apologized and explained that sometimes they forgot to put silverware on the tables. And by sometimes he meant always. Not something he should have admitted to us, but whatever. Our food was very, very good. We both enjoyed it. My boyfriend did mention that for 'very spicy' his was not very spicy. Mine was mild and was actually mild.

First time here. Had their Pad Phet (stir-fried Spicy) which was a nicely sized portion. Great meal. Service was nice enough but I can't say that I felt very welcome. Also, my table kept vibrating the entire time. Thought I was going nuts until I saw the water, in my glass, shaking. Overall good experience.

basil eggplant, pad see ew, drunken noodles, duck with basil and planet thai noodles are all fantastic! pretty decent pad thai too. not a fan of the curries- too thin and not nuanced enough compared to what i've had elsewhere.

I lived in Bangkok for 8 years. Having loved the Thai food I ate there daily, I have been hesitant to try Thai restaurants in America, afraid that the food would be unrecognizably Americanized. I recently moved to the Lexington area and went to try Planet Thai after reading promising reviews of it here on yelp. My first impressions were mixed. I was served by a very non-Thai waiter, and had to order my sweet and sour chicken and "Thai iced tea" in English. While some menu items had their phonetic Thai names, others were just in English, or given new names altogether. The iced tea was good, although a little sweet. The sweet and sour chicken had the correct ingredients and a decent taste, but looked like some kind of food coloring was used- the whole dish was tinted pink- something I have not seen before. Overall the food was just alright. The service was good (albeit not Thai), and as usual the price was painful for someone who has eaten in Thailand, but about standard for Asian cuisine state-side. Will have to try more dishes and try to talk to the owners before forming a more solid opinion.

Good Thai food - better than I expected from Kentucky. (No offense intended, just not a place on thinks of as good for Thai food). Had the basil tofu and the Tom Kah soup - asked for it "very spicy" and it was good - could have been a bit hotter but was not mild. Basic beer & wine menu, but the requisite Singha and TsingTao

Thai tea was great. I ordered my Spicy Basil Beef a "3" out of 5 and it was more like a 1. A 3 at most other thai restaurants for this dish gets a little forehead perspiration going. For this, I didn't even take a drink of water the entire meal. I'd go 4 or 5 next time. Planet Thai Rolls are AMAZING. Get them, dip 'em in the plum sauce. Delicious.

Planet Thai was not too shabby. I don't know how much Thai food there really is in Lexington, since I am not from there, just have visited 3 times. The food is AMAZINGLY spicy. You can ask for the spiciness on scale from 1-5. I got my food at a 1 and I was dying, I had to order Thai Iced Tea so I could drink the milk part down to cool my tongue! I don't know HOW spicy a 5 is, but I think my head might explode if I tried it. I tried the red curry w/ tofu, it had a great flavor but the spiciness masked how awesome it truly was. Plus they only had white rice, and I am used to being able to get brown rice in LA! The Planet Thai Noodles were really tasty, super delicious and I would highly recommend these! Just make it not spicy if you can't handle heat. And add peanut sauce, it takes the spice level down and adds a great bit of flavor. There are also very large portions here, so good deal. Yummilicious Factor = A-

I'm not sure the people who rate this place highly have ever had really good Thai. If you haven't had good Thai, then go ahead and give it a shot. Bland, giant vegetables, oddly spiced. I had a curry that was so tasteless that I wanted to just leave. There are so many other Thai places in town that you shouldn't waste your time here.

This is the best Thai food In. The. World. My wife and I love the Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle. They have big portions, amazing flavors, and we love how their tofu is more steamed than fried. This is THE standard for how good Thai food should taste. Life Changing!

Ate there for lunch... the place is plain inside, but the service, food and prices were all quite good. Don't go for the decor - go for the food, friendly faces and service.

Planet Thai is not the best Thai restaurant of all time; there are no culinary revelations to be had here. BUT, if you want Thai food and you live in Lexington, this is your best bet. It's tasty, it's clean, they always get high scores on their food inspections, and it's consistent. I won't take any time to detail why the other Thai places in town don't make the grade, for me, because this is a review about Planet Thai. Sean M mentioned his surprise and dismay at the fried Spring roll. While, I would not exactly be surprised at that, because lots of places fry their spring rolls, I understand his confusion, as the nomenclature seems to be somewhat vague. What he was hoping for was a "salad roll", which is a fresh rice paper wrapper filled with tofu, bean thread noodles, julienned carrots, cucumber, and Thai basil. The Salad Rolls at Planet Thai are fat, chubby rolls served with a duo of dipping sauces, sweet and sour, and peanut (I posted a picture). If you would rather have a warm, crispy roll, go the Spring Roll route. The spring rolls are very slender and much more dainty, however... Also, the stuffed chicken wings and chicken satay are quite yummy as well. I have to make myself not order them because I would never have room for dinner otherwise. When I come to Planet Thai, I come for curry. This is their strong suit by far. They have many other tasty dishes here, but the curries are where it's at. Green or Red, over rice or noodles, Planet Thai makes a mean Thai curry. Coconutty, rich, lots of flavor, and lots of heat. When I am craving Thai curry, but not the fatty goodness of coconut milk, I get the Gang Pah (sp?) which is a coconut-milk free, and is perhaps even more flavorful. The slices of Asian eggplant are gorgeously purple, and very tender. One of my favorites. As another reviewer mentioned, the Yellow Curry Shrimp is a thing of beauty- and you can order it w/o shrimp, if you want to go the vegetarian route (it does, however, sound quite silly to order "yellow curry shrimp, hold the shrimp" but as a confirmed shrimp hater, I do what I have to. The mango pieces blow my mind...) After years of currying it up at Planet Thai, I ventured off the menu to order the "Asparagus in Garlic Sauce" which is a chef's special on the back of the menu. I still have trouble getting over how tasty that particular dish is. Probably my asparagus addiction speaking here, but give it a try! Drunken noodles are another dish done well here, and the stir fried egg that comes with it is so substantial you will think it's chicken. Seriously. I sent it back the first time I got it (during a stint of vegetarianism) but I was assured that it was not chicken, but egg. Intriguingly meaty egg... I'm not a Pad Thai person, but several of my Pad Thai loving friends have said that Planet Thai's version is not their favorite. So, take this third hand information how you will. In short, go here, order curry. Some of their other menu items are stellar, and some are really pretty blah. But you can't go wrong with the curry. This is also a VERY vegetarian friendly place, and, with a little inquiry, vegan friendly.

My daughter and I had dinner here last night and throughly enjoyed ourselves. It's not a storefront but a real restaurant with booths so you can be away from the door on a frigid night. My crispy duck special entree was perfectly cooked and flavorful; the wok-fried basil was crispy and ethereal and unexpected! My daughter's pad thai met with her approval, and she's a pad thai junkie. She prefers more noodles and less bean sprouts and there are no bean sprouts in this one. Though we couldn't even finish our generous entrees, we decided to try the honey bananas dessert, which was banana wrapped in pastry, sautéed and doused with honey. Delicious, but there were 8 pieces and we couldn't finish that either! I would definitely return.

Well, let's just say, I eat a lot of Thai food. I was happy to be in town visiting my folks and was even happier when they agreed to have Thai food with me- beats Arbys... So on a scale of 1-10, or meal was prob a 5 or maybe 6. Which is a shame cos Thai food is damn good! I had soup, which was mediocre- (but I WAS happy to find it in LEX). Mom had some cashew chicken and dad had a meat dish that he was please with- even though he did have to send it back as they left some requested vegetables in. Overall this place was A-OK- it WAS packed... really bustling- so I would give it another shot, especially when my dinner choice are bad Italian, KFC, and planet thai! Thai wins, hands down.

If you're looking for Thai food in Lexington, Planet Thai will not disappoint. From their delicious yet inexpensive lunch menu to their generous dinner portions, Planet Thai is one of the restaurants that turned me into an avid Thai-food eater. The servers here are friendly and helpful when you need assistance in ordering. There is a variety of flavorful curry over rice here, with 5 levels of spiciness for each one. I am equally enthusiastic about the fried rice here, as it tops any fried rice you'll find in the area. For dessert, mango slices with sticky rice offers a moderate, sweet treat that won't upset your stomach. If you're in the mood for reasonably-priced Thai food, Planet Thai satisfies in food, service, and atmosphere.

The Thai iced coffee is divine. The food is pretty good, too. The restaurant is clean, and the waitresses are friendly. So far, I've tried the basil eggplant, the won ton soup, the rice noodle seafood soup, and the chicken ginger. The chicken ginger was excellent. The rice noodle soup was chocked full of seafood, scallops, mussels, squid, and shrimp--Yum! The broth of the won ton soup and the BBQ pork were excellent, and the won tons were decent. (My Asian friends would tell me that they used the "wrong type" of won tons.) The won ton soup would be perfect if they used the right type of won tons. The eggplant basil dish was very good, too. I enjoy Thai food over Chinese food any day; however, I have yet to find a Chinese eatery that isn't Americanized. If I can make the food at home, I do not want to eat there. Give me a Chinese eatery that is authentic, and I would be more than happy to eat there. Planet Thai is an excellent eatery. I do not give them 5 stars, because in Los Angeles, I find authentic Thai food that is excellent. However, I am very happy to find Planet Thai in Kentucky. It gives me hope that other great Asian eateries will be opening in Kentucky soon. By the way, Planet Thai has beautiful fish tanks. I love to watch the fish while I am there.

"Planet Thai is awesome, you have to try it," I was told after lamenting my experience at Pad Thai, AKA the worst money I've spent since moving to Lexington. The recommendation was being offered by somebody I barely knew, but she was some kind of Asian (as am I), so I went for it. We pulled in front of a small but quaint establishment off of Nicholasville Rd., and entered through the door not marked "out of order". The server/hostess, who wasn't any kind of Asian but was friendly nonetheless, seated us in a small booth. The environment was pleasant enough. Ignoring the peeling wallpaper next to my wife's head, I instead scanned the menu. The usual fare greeted my gaze, along with a few new takes on old friends. I settled on the "Planet Thai Noodles", while my lady-friend ordered "Drunken Noodles". Our meals were palatable. The drunken noodles were a bit too sweet, and the noodles a touch dry. The Planet Thai noodles were tasty, and at a 2 on a 5-scale for spice, I only had to add a little bit of Thai chili sauce. I found these a bit dry as well, but the curry flavor was pleasant. I'll order it without pineapple next time. Is Planet Thai awesome? Not for me. Thai Orchid, which I'll probably review eventually, has better drunken noodles and is more convenient for me to get to. I can see going to Planet Thai for the occasional change of pace. I'd give Planet Thai 2.5 stars if I could. Is Planet Thai the best Lexington has to offer? Based on the high praise I've heard for it, it's starting to look that way. Though with the buzz Baan Isaan Thai Gourmet is starting to get on Yelp (with several questionable, possibly shill reviews), that has yet to be determined.

Seated promptly on a Tuesday night. Great food, but it took a long time to arrive. We must have waited 20 minutes for an order of Pad Thai to arrive. Waitress never really checked on us. I give 4 stars for food .... Hot, fresh and spicy.....but 2 stars for service.

I've gotten the pad thai here. You get A LOT of food for a cheap price, giant plate of pad thai (easily enough for two meals) with soup and and egg roll also. The pad thai just okay though. But..the veggies are welted, the noodles aren't as chewy as I like. I've also tried a chicken salad - that was bad. Small, and kind of a strange sweet flavor. Won't get that again. Service is super nice. They also have huge fish tanks that are neat to look at. Update: I went to three thai places (here, Jasmine Rice, and Thai Orchid) in town within two weeks and got their pad thai. I got the beef pad thai here, and it actually was not bad. Large portion, good amount of beef. The veggies are welted though - not enough bean sprouts at all, you don't get that fresh raw crunchy flavor. To be fair though, I was picking up take-out and didn't get home to eat it until about 15 min later. There was also only 1 lime wedge not enough for citrus flavor. I got 5/5 spicy, and it was decently spicy, but nothing that a normal person couldn't handle. Not like thai spicy that would hurt when I ordered even a 7/10 in California. In terms of flavor of pad thai, I think Jasmine was a little better to me. But their portions were smaller, and prices higher despite smaller amount of food.

I give 2 stars because I normally get the vegie Pad Thai & it's almost always good here. This time I got the Phanom Prawns & this dish was really bad The prawns tasted like they had been in a freezer for way too many months. I had to request a knief to cut them into pieces small enough to chew, but it was like cutting leather. I removed them to a napkin so others could see & not waste $19 on a horrible meal. Stick with the pad thai & really good thai tea.

As my favorite Lexington Thai restaurant, other places have a really hard time measuring up. In fact, it's taken me a solid two years of living in Nashville to find a place that I like as much as this one. Their curries (my mark of a good Thai place...and I've tried all of the curries here) are all delicious. They've always got super friendly service and they're great at keeping your drink refilled. Also love the lunch menu portions and prices. I make sure I visit this gem every time I visit Sexy Lexy.

Great Thai food for Lexington. Love the spring rolls - light and crispy, with delicious plum sauce. Their Pad Thai is great and the portions are HUGE. I took home enough for two more meals. Also try the red curry.

I love Planet Thai - but more specifically, I love their Pineapple Duck Curry. It has become my new comfort food. Bad at work? Pineapple Duck Curry. Taxes? Pineapple Duck Curry. Fight with the wife? Pineapple Duck Curry. I can't recommend this dish enough. Love it.

My girlfriend enjoyed the food while I thought it was just fair. But the service was terrible. Our waitress never came backed to check on us and, after waiting 15 minutes after we finished eating, I had to find the manager for to get our bill. And the place was not even that busy. I'd give it one more try because I am a generous soul.

This is the place to go for Thai food in Lexington. Others may disagree, citing Siam Thai, Bangkok House, or Thai Orchid Café as being far superior, but as someone who's eaten at every local joint with a tenuous claim to Thai food, Planet Thai is the bees' knees. Their egg rolls are a delight, and this is a place where you can ask for it to be as spicy as possible and actually get it prepared that way. Their basil fried rice is lovely, as is their crispy fried duck, and if you'd rather have takeout than eat in, your order is always prepared promptly.

Absolutely the best Thai restaurant in Lexington! And I'm virtually positive I've tried all of them. I like to order Pad Thai at each place as a benchmark and then go back and try other dishes. Then I ordered the Red Curry Noodles at Planet Thai one day and I will never go anywhere else (unless I need Thai at 5pm on a weeknight in which case the traffic in front of this place is horrendous). Also recommended: Planet Thai Noodles, Green Curry Noodles, Musaman Curry, and Pad Thai.

I was a little worried about eating Thai food - I hadn't eaten it since I was living in England and I was in love with it then. This is one of the best places I've ever eaten! The best part is that you get enough for today and for lunch tomorrow. I got the sauteed broccoli and it was awesome. My boyfriend got the pad thai and it was delicious!

Planet Thai is one of our favorite regular dinner places. It's a good stand-by. The drunken noodles, yellow curry, and massaman curry are our favorites. The tom kah soup is perfection. The service is usually pretty good, except for one guy whose job seems to be to walk around looking busy and avoiding eye contact. When you can catch him, he's super nice, but you really have to wave him down.

Best Thai in Lexington. The ambience is not particularly charming, and service can be quite slow sometimes, but they serve -by far- the best red curry around. Don't miss the Spicy Eggplant, my favorite.

Food is wonderful, but staff leaves much to be desired. I ordered take-out and was confronted by the server when I didn't leave a tip. I'm sorry, I used to be a server, and when there is only one meal in the order the server does little to no work to deserve a tip. I have yet to return to this store solely on this experience. Which is quite a shame because I really loved their food and it so convenient to my home.

The problem with Planet Thai is that it is terribly inconsistent. We have probably eaten here 10 times and out of the 10 times we've eaten here 6 or 7 times it was really really good and 3 or 4 times it was really really bad. You never know what you're going to get so where do we keep coming back because for the money you get a lot and when you do get good planet thai it's totally worth it.

The food is excellent; the best place in town for Pad Tai. The only reason I didn't rate this restaurant a 5 star is because it is not the cleanest. Great food, but not worth having dead bugs right next to me while I eat. Not to be picky, but the walls look like someone splashed soy sauce on them. They need a little scrubbing. This shows me that they aren't wiping down their surfaces.

Delicious.

  • Cherish H.

This is my favorite place to go enjoy some great Thai food. We have eaten here on a regular basis for over 5 years now. The decor is not much to look at but the food will leave a lasting impression. Food and service has always been above average and the restaurant is always busy.

Love it.

It's a 5 because there isn't a 6. Oh my goodness it's good. Red Curry Noodles and Pineapple Fried Rice are two of the several fine dishes here. Pad Thai, Planet Thai Noodles are awesome.

Best Basil Dishes in town! Fresh Thai Basil! I always ask for extra Basil! It's my fave! And the Ginger dishes are excellent also!

The food's not terrible, the service isn't terrible, but nothing here was particularly good. It was some of the most bland Thai food I've eaten, and just an overall disappointment. I much prefer Bangkok house.

Food is awesome. I love the pineapple fried rice. The drunken noodles are a house favorite as well. Make sure to get the planet Thai rolls with plum sauce. They are packed with flavor. This is the 2nd time I have eaten in here and I will be back.

  • Ronald D.

Delicious.

  • Cherish H.

I go here fairly often. I've wanted to try other dishes, but I just can't stop ordering their delicious Pad Thai. Their Thai iced tea is a great addition to the meal. It's all reasonably priced as well.

  • Ernie S.
