Pho BC is the only Vietnamese restaurant in Lexington that I have been to (I know that there is at least one more), but it stood up pretty well against the places I've been in bigger cities like New York or London. I had the seafood pho (noodle soup) which included shrimp, squid, crab meat, and fish balls. The soup itself is rather innocuous with subtle fish flavor and chopped scallions, but what makes it delicious is adding fresh basil, bean sprouts and jalapenos (not exactly Vietnamese, but I let it slide) and letting it steep for a couple minutes to extract some of those flavors. For desert, I would recommend trying one of the exotic fruit milkshakes such as the Jackfruit.

Worse Vietnamese restaurant ever!!! The pho was absolutely terrible, the broth which is key to good pho hinted to dish water, other dishes were unremarkable. The fried rice which isn't really vietnamese cuisine was unedible and not fit for human consumption, the spring rolls were reminiscent of store bought egg rolls. Its a very small place and certainly not worth even a seconds wait. The staff were pleasant enough but that is irrelevant given the poor taste of their food.

If you have never had really good pho, Pho BC might seem good. Its really avg when it comes to the vermicelli. The spring rolls where done right but the pho just wasnt that great. Still looking for a great Vietnamese in Lexington area.

Fantastic soup. Quick. Pleasant waitstaff. Pros: Only place to get good Pho in town. The Bun bo hue is excellent. The price is very reasonable. Cons: Vegetarian options for the wife are not nearly as compelling. Ambience could be improved.

We miss our staple Vietnamese place in Tucson allot! Luckily we have Pho BC is lessen that pain. Although not as good as out beloved Miss Saigon in Tucson, their Pho is pretty good.

I've been here a few more times, am liking it better. I gotten tai and meatball pho at this point. I can still easily eat a large - which costs like $8.50 - big bowl of soup and kind of skimpy on the noodles. You can order extra noodles and it is about $11 after tax. I found that I didn't like my steak in the soup, because it will get cooked too quickly, so I ordered it on the side, and just put it the soup at the table, and was great tasting. Only complaint about this place is cost for amount of food. I'm used to paying $5-6 for a "small" pho elsewhere, and I'm pretty sure it comes with more noodles, about the same amount of soup, and maybe slightly more meat depending on the place. This is a good two times as much, but as far as I know it is the only pho place in town. It definitely satisfies the craving though. Great on a cold day.

yum! I love this place! the meat itself isn't that tasty, but everything mixed together is fantastic!

Pho BC has quickly become one of my favorite spots. The food is always delicious and fresh.

This is a 4 star rating for Lexington. If this place existed somewhere else, it might have more competition. But since there is a relative dearth of Vietnamese cuisine here in town, this is probably the best you'll get. That being said, it's actually pretty good. My husband and I both had Vermicelli bowls, I had the pork, he the chicken. Both were very tasty, and we gobbled up more than we had planned on. The shrimp in the spring rolls (garden rolls, I think, is what they call them here) could be fresher, the pork could be better (kind of tasted like standard American Chinese food pork, not the juicy charred stuff I'm used to with Bun), but overall it's still a great meal for the price and it will satisfy the need for Vietnamese food. The inside decor is nice, the bathrooms are clean, the waitstaff is friendly. I get the impression it's family owned, as there were three kids in the back playing with legos. I'm also guessing it's family friendly from the above point as well as the giant changing bed in the women's bathroom. The woman who took our orders and brought us our food was very eager to help and almost disappointed that we already knew what we wanted. All in all, a pleasant experience and a nice healthy meal. The location is convenient for us so we'll definitely be back often.

I've eaten at Pho BC at least a dozen times and every time I've had a fantastic eating experience. While they have many options on their menu, this place specializes in Vietnamese soups. You really can't go wrong choosing any of them, just find the one that has the ingredients that sound best to you and go for it! Make sure you also try their salad rolls as an appetizer. To me, it's the best thing on the menu, but some may not like how they look as they don't look like egg rolls most have had w/ Chinese take-out. These are cold and wrapped in a thin layer of rice paper. The atmosphere at Pho BC is nothing to rave about. It's small, with minimal art, but always clean and nice enough to not be an eyesore while dining. Pho BC is one of my top 10 places to eat in Lexington, as the food is always fresh and the flavors are extremely satisfying!

I eat here at least once a week. The pho here is incredible. The stock is rich with beef flavor and flavored with the perfect blend of spices. You choose the type beef you want and the accompanying bean sprouts, Thai basil, a lime wedge and jalapeño slices just mature in the soup. It is served piping hot so the flavored just get better with every bite. I always get a Spring roll with shrimp. Always fresh and good. The Vietnamese special pancake is really two oriental omelets meant to be broken into bits, wrapped in Romaine lettuce leaves and anointed with the tangy sauce. The key words here are fresh, good quality ingredients cooked to perfection and served by very friendly people. Without using names, I've met several notable chefs from around town eating here and one state representative. See you there, usually at lunch on Friday.

I'm visiting Lexington and went to this place with some friends who have never had vietnamese food. Overall I thought it was pretty good. We all had the rice vermicelli-bun bowls so i can't comment on the pho. We shared the shrimp salad roll which was yummy. Instead of peanut sauce on the side, they used a difference sauce which was good bit i prefer the peanut sauce. I had the beef rice vermicelli bowl which was tasty but the beef wasn't grilled in the way i'm accustomed to eating it. The chicken and pork (which my friends had) looked grilled (with that great slight char!) and yummy. We all enjoyed our meal. Overall i would give it 3.5 stars.

I have no other Vietnamese food to compare this restaurant to, but I thought it was pretty tasty, but a little overpriced. We could have used a little more assistance with the menu/eating our dinners from the waitress.

The food at this place is fabulous... we always get (and share) the pancake because is was suggested on Yelp the first time we tried the place many years ago and is truly addictive..... and then we venture off from there for another dish to share.... the staff is attentive and very nice... we had the sesame balls for dessert... and they were very tasty... will order them again... I can't say enough good things about the food... everything is fresh and delicious and we will be back....

Revisited this place and it has kinda gone down hill. The soup was less then disable. Seems like new owners.

Take out of brisket pho. Broth has good flavor. Plenty of noodles. "Brisket" not exactly brisket. Looks like the beef you would get in any Vietnamese dish. Ok all around. Need to try more things from them.

Great stuff. Dig in and enjoy the fresh flavors and clean taste. The meats were very well cooked as were the veggies. Yum. Come on over and try It out.. You will Like it Indeed

All I have to say is BLAND, BLAND, BLAND. I have been eating Pho as long as I can remember. Originally from Philly and my dad knew fluent Vietnamese (he was in the war) and we would go to some of the best places and get great service because of my dad's fluency and because we were regulars just like family! This place is just BLAND, not bad but I feel like they watered down everything from the soup to the dip for the spring rolls! Just moved to Lex and I need to find a place to get my fix!

  • Dave E.

I was rather unimpressed. They've accomplished almost everything that could go wrong with Vietnamese Pho cuisine. Bland soup broth, I could see the bottom of the bowl before I even started eating, wilted and browning veggies (bean sprouts, basil leaves, etc), and my tea was empty for a few minutes even though I was the only person in the restaurant. I gave them 2 instead of 1 star for their bravery. You either have to be a huge risk taker or lacking in business smarts to open a Pho restaurant on the outskirts of Lexington.

Best place for Vietnamese cuisine in lexington by far. I haven't ventured very far into their menu but the chicken bun is mighty tasty packed w/ rice vermicelli, romaine lettuce, veggie egg roll & sauce are on the money. I can only compare this place to one spot I visited in Chinatown NY called Nam Son. Very traditional Vietnamese food the Pho is also the best in town. Not a very fancy place but if you are like me about the food & not the appearance you won't mind to much. Prices are very reasonable & you also have the option to make your meal large. If you are looking for a meal that's healthy & filling but won't make you feel stuffed check this place out it's authentic as it gets....

Good coffee, great desserts, OK pho, this is one of my fav places in Lexington now. Like I said the pho was fine but the avocado smoothie and fried bananas were two of the best of their kind I've had at a Vietnamese place. Surprised and delighted this place is in Central KY.

  • Chris C.

Not bad at all, perhaps a little bit underrated by other yelp reviews. The pho noodle soup is ok, served with generous portions of meat and vegetables and a decent broth--it won't blow your mind, but won't make you mad either. Chef seems to have a liberal hand with MSG, which I don't mind. The chef specialities are much better. I recommend the banh xeo, which are crispy savory mungbean crepes with bean sprouts and shrimp; and the banh cuon, steamed rice noodles rolled with ground pork and herbs. Prices are comparable to other Lexington pho joints, but a bit high for the national average. In Lexington, Pho BC is my preference for Vietnamese food.

So far Pho's chicken noodle soup was fresh and has a nice flavor and you get plenty for your money. The pot stickers and egg rolls were fresh and taste good. Clean and nice service. Going to check it out again. Next is the noodle bowls with meat. Looked pretty yummy.

Good tasting food. The service is always good. The atmosphere is cozy and clean. I always enjoy the soup. The grilled pork chop is also very good. If you are on this side of town you can't go wrong with stopping in for lunch or dinner.

The best! Pho broth ever their blending of the spice used us just awesome! Everything is fresh and delicious! They are the only place I know of in town to serve a betelnut leaf dish that has beef and pork and lemongrass and is grilled. This is a Must! Try dish. One of my all time favs is the combo spring roll this is light yet filling too.

This was my first Pho experience. After a fellow Elite recommended it months ago, I attempted to stop in on a Tuesday and they were closed. Months later, we went here on a Saturday night. I ordered E1, it's a stir fried noodle dish and I ordered the vegetable option. The waitress recommended it because I hadn't yet experienced Pho. It was piping hot and just right for my taste buds and it was reasonably priced at $8.95. The place is a little small and our table was right next to the register, where a big group with no common courtesy gathered around to pay for their meals. This is no fault to the restaurant, just an observation. The next time that I go, I'll sit away from the register area.

Good selection of pho. The meats are nice and the broth is very flavorful. I really like the rice vermicelli bowls, very refreshing. The House Special Crispy Egg Noodle was fantastic! The papaya salad is really good but not always available. And the perfect ending to a meal at Pho BC is a fun bubble tea! Mango is my fav.

  • Rebecca Z.

The spicy beef pho is ok. The soup is a little salty and the beef is fine. I ordered Vietnamese special pancake to go, and I tried the pancake before I leave. Actually the pancake is better than I expected. It is not salty and very crispy. I have no clue why they serve pancake with fresh veggie, so I decided not to take them... I've tried 3 Pho places in LEX and the ranking is: 1. Pho Saigon 2. Pho BC 3. Pete Woh.

Lexington, Kentucky, you have great pho! What a pleasant surprise! I walked in and it appeared to be a typical pho restaurant until I saw the menu. No Vietnamese on it. There was a little bit here and there, but the majority was in English. First time I've seen seen one like that. The girl that helped us was young and not Vietnamese. I told her what I wanted in Vietnamese and she knew so she's heard the lingo before. The spring rolls came out. Good balance of ingredients and the sauce had a spicy kick to it. I like. The pho came out and it was delicious! The broth was very authentic and just all around yummy! My husband agreed. Their portions are great. Not too small like other places. This city has really impressed me so far with their food. I want to go back and try some more.

I've spent time in Viet Nam and try to have Vietnamese food as often as I can when in the states. I was pleasantly surprised with Pho BC. The atmosphere is quirky but not unlike many Vietnamese restaurants I've visited- large photo murals of cherry blossoms and Hai Long Bay juxtaposed with four photos of Las Vegas! However the food was good. Had the cold rolls (vegetarian) and the chicken cabbage salad. The nuoc Cham made all of the dishes- it was authentic and really good. Other dishes my family and friends had were pho ga, lemon grass chicken and bun cha Hanoi and they all liked their dishes.

I've never had Pho before, and I saw quite a few reviews saying the broth was very bland, but I decided to try it anyway. Let me just say that I have NO IDEA what "bland" means to those reviewers, but this was far from bland. I got the Steak and Meatball Pho. I've found my new favorite place to eat.

The food here isn't bad but it's not great either. The phos are definitely something different and worth trying. These are good if not too spicy. While spiciness might not bother some , there have been times it's simply too much and will mess up your stomach. I recognize this is subjective but this is just something to be aware of so you don't ruin your dish. Another reason it's just ok is because of the service. The owner/cook seems very nice but the waitresses he has had in the past are pretty poor. They seem like they don't care and aren't very friendly. This hurts the reputation of the place quite a bit. I hope that gets fixed and I can update my review later.

I was really impressed with the freshness and deliciousness of the brisket Pho. Service was great also. I cant wait to go back and try something else.

Let me preface this by saying I live in California and have some of the best pho in my back yard. I was happy to see that Lexington had pho since it was a cold and rainy and there is nothing better than a big bowl of pho on a day like that! I got to the restaurant and there was a line out the door, which made me even more excited for my big bowl of pho. I had to wait about 15 minutes before a table was available, not a big deal though, I don' t mind waiting for good food. When my XL bowl of steak/meatball pho came out, it looked delicious! I always taste the unaltered broth at a new restaurant so I can fairly compare, and this is where I started to get disappointed. The broth was boring. It was good, but far from great. I had to load up my pho with Siracha and Hoisin, which I normally don't do for really good broth. I will say this, the meat was tender and the meatballs were delicious. It's just the broth... there's something missing. It's also a bit pricey for a pho place, I ordered two spring rolls and an XL bowl of pho and my bill was nearly $20 (no drinks just water). Anyway, this is a good place, but the broth is not worthy of 4-stars by any means. I will likely go back since it is close to where I stay when I am out here.

I'm so glad I discovered this place. It's a really solid Pho/Vietnamese joint that also happens to be the only game in town. I went with a few other people and three of us ordered pho: spicy, regular beef and seafood. All were excellent. Nothing earth-shattering but very good. I'm already thinking about when I can go back and try another kind. By the way, the "small" bowls are pretty big. I have no idea who orders a large, much less an XL bowl of Pho, but you'd have to be seriously hungry.

We love Vietnamese food. A lot. And having lived for almost a decade in the Pacific Northwest and California, and almost four years in the D.C. area, we've eaten our fair share of top notch pho. Thus, we were really excited to learn about Pho BC in Lexington. We went for lunch on a Sunday and it was packed (people were standing around waiting for tables to open up), but things move pretty quickly so the wait was not terribly long, especially considering there were only two servers. (And once we placed our orders the food came promptly, it was hot, and the servers would reappear periodically to refill water glasses.) We got steak pho (P1) and vegetarian pho (P18), and we split an order of tofu salad rolls. The rolls were decent. The vegetarian pho was solid--it had an ok amount of tofu and a good variety of veggies (bok choy, cabbage, broccoli, carrot). Note: they do use a veggie-based broth for P18, so vegetarians, don't fear. The steak pho was good, although a little disappointing because we expected extremely rare steak ("tai") that then cooks in the broth. This meat was fully cooked (but it may have been because they were so slammed the soup sat around for a bit before it got served...we'll give them the benefit of the doubt here). The broth was alright. Pho comes in small, large, and extra large; we both ordered large. Compared to the many pho restaurants we've eaten at, there was not a lot of broth and the large would have been a small at virtually every other place we've tried, on both coasts. So, we would agree with some other yelpers that this pho place is a bit overpriced (a large is 8.50). One other aspect that disappointed us was the fact that the table is expected to share one plate of condiments (the usual basil, jalapeno, and bean sprouts; the menu also specifies that diners should get cilantro but none was to be found). And, again, we agree with other yelpers that the sprouts and basil were visibly past their prime. Last, they may be watering down the sriracha... Other notes: Pho BC takes Mastercard, Visa, and Discover. Ultimately, in spite of the less-than-prime condiments and the inflated prices, we'd go back for seconds--beggars can't be choosers, right?

We really like Pho BC. The food is generally quick, and delicious, an inexpensive. Don't come expecting ambiance and 5-star service, but do expect to leave full and happy. Closed on Tuesdays though!

  • Joe D.

Okay, I'm reluctantly downgrading it to a 4 stars. Lately, their service have been worse, things like the ice coffee and boba tea got watered down so I don't order those anymore. I still like the pho so I still eat here since it's the only place in Lexington that has this and it's good. My main advice to any restaurant is never compromise on your food. Do not water down anything. Please make the best that you can. I think people are willing to pay extra (if you're just not gouging them and providing a fair price) if the food is good. My second advice is hire efficient and friendly servers.

Love it, love it, love it. I usually get rice noodle soup with chicken (p15) and I get it spicy. Today I did the take-out thang. They give you a container of broth, a box for the noodles and chicken, a bag of sprouts/basil, and a container of sauce. You just go home and mix it all together. Nothing I love more than to eat pho in my pj's on a cold night. And for that little kick to keep you going till you get home, get a cold Vietnamese coffee. Delicious!!!

I am a pho lover but this place was not for me. I was excited to see it as I am here visiting but I was dissapointed. I ate there once and had their rice noodles which were really watery. I went back again to try the pho and had the shrimp pho. I got about 4 shrimp in a soup with some noodles in it and some cilantro. They actually asked me if I wanted all the trimmings (bean sprouts, jalapenos, etc..) I mean its pho! Just bring it to me. The tea is eh... The service in the place could use some cheering up. Most of the time you look like a bother to them. I always try a place out a second time and there will be no third time.

Huge letdown. We sat down and I immediately fell for Pho BC after reading the origins of Pho they had printed on the front of the menu - I'm a sucker for a story, what can I say? But then fifteen minutes went by and we still had not been greeted by a server. Two other couples who arrived after us already had their food. We were drink-less. We had to walk up to the counter to ask if we could order there (maybe we missed the memo?) before we finally got to order. About another 5 minutes passed before we had water. This isn't a huge restaurant so it's not like walking time factored into any of this. It was fairly busy, which means I could have overlooked the service in this review...but not when the food didn't measure up either. It was edible, sure. I ordered egg noodles with chicken, bean sprouts, cilantro, etc. I tell you this not to go into detail, but only as a segue to advise never to order the chicken here. Very rubbery and had a bizarre flavor. I'll probably end up going back here at some point just to try the Pho. I wonder if this is the sort of place that does one thing really well. Will report back soon...

This was my first experience with Vietnamese food. I have tried many of the menu items but I keep coming back to the Pho. The broth for the Pho is so rich and delicious. It warms you inside and makes you feel at home. I request flank and tendon. The combo is not on the menu but they will do any combo that you wish. I always add a healthy dose of fish sauce. The fish sauce enhances all of the flavors involved in the broth.

  • Kristie P.

As someone who is part Vietnamese, I feel as if I am a credible source. First off, if you find yourself ordering a chicken stir fry dish, just stop. Vietnamese people do not eat chicken; therefore, it is not a well-thought out dish. Here's what you should order; the pho or a vermicelli bowl. Pho with rare steak is a classic dish. The idea of pho is that it hits all of the different taste buds and textures; sweet hoisin sauce, spicy sriracha and jalapenos, crunchy bean sprouts, etc., so be sure to doctor your pho with the accoutrements that they give you! If you want a cooler dish, the vermicelli pork bowl is delicious. Go crazy, add some sriracha to your fish sauce. Also, I can't be in a Vietnamese restaurant and not order the salad rolls with shrimp. The peanut sauce that comes with it is slurptastic. When you're eating at a Vietnamese restaurant in a strip mall, ambiance should be a non-factor. I have no idea why yelpers insist on talking about service and restaurant decor, especially when the food is as good as Pho BC's.

The pork egg rolls we had as a starter was very tasty, I loved the lemon dipping sauce! The large portion Spicy Beef Pho was as spicy as I had hoped for and had the best hearty flavor. I tend to crave Pho and Pho BC didn't disappoint.

Fantastic food. I love Vietnamese food. I get pho cravings. The pho combination, which includes such (to Americans) exotica as tripe and tendon, is hot and delicious. You can season it your way. Other menu selections are fine, too. On the other hand, only the Pho 75 in Falls Church, Virginia comes to mind as clearly better pho. Were this review based upon the deliciousness of the food only, it would have been five stars. The service varies from adequate to cruel and insensitive. More than once I have waited forever for my check. Last time I stopped in, my wife and I stood there--I on a cane--as some large-group diner, right in front of me, took one of the chairs from the last available (and least desirable) table as the staff watched and didn't do a damn thing. Outta there fast. That alone costs them two stars, and that's only because I'm being a nice guy about it. For this sort of thing to happen, and for a grossly excessive wait for a check to be a constant problem, there absolutely have to be serious, serious management problems that are being ignored. I fear they will eventually overtake the high quality of the food and lay Pho BC in its grave. Robert Irvine, where are you?

My bf is the biggest pho lover, whenever we go to a new city, the first thing to do is to try out their best local pho. I really love pho too. And thats probably why I have standards for my pho. I want it to be tasty but no MSG and I dont expect for a high price since its pho. And sadly, this is the only pho place in town that we can go to. We keep going back since we are such big fans for pho. But the owner is just soooooo cheap. The soup just has so much MSG!!! Oh and the service....pshh, they all look pissed, just leave them alone. And they keep raising the price. So so so sad! One time, their lime was dried out, and we went as a huge group and we kept asking them for more lime. The owner got mad and gave us a bunch dried lime and charged us 2 dollars per person for some dried up lime. Ughhh. We all wish so bad that there could be another pho place in town.

I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately it just left a bad taste in my mouth all the way around. No pun intended. I had the steak pho and my friend had the veggie. Mine was ok with some additions, not the best but definitely ok. The veggie was pretty awful but it's veggie so I can't be too critical. The lime was dried up, the basil wilted, and bean sprouts were way old. The service was less than stellar with the kid not even offering to fill our iced tea. The price was decent. $7.50 for the small is a very fair price but they certainly gouge you on their crappy drinks at 3.00 for some weak ass iced tea on a 7.50 entree. I also had to beg for the check that I was expecting to be around 20 but turned out to be 24 with tax. I feel it is just a rip off from a place like this to do it. I expect it from big chains but not mom and pops. I hope someone from Pho BC reads this because their dumb ass greed will cost them dearly in the end. I'm not going back and will tell everyone I know to avoid it like the plague. And I am a very good and fair tipper, always 25 to 30% of the bill if not more and I eat out everyday. This is the first time I left a dollar. I left the server at Ramsey's the balance of $30 on a $22 lunch tab today. I do not mind paying for good food and service. I welcome it. But please!! Don't yank my chain and expect me to take it lightly.

Think this is the place in Lexington for fresh and consistent pho. I tried the pork w/ egg noddles and the spicy beef. Liked them both a lot. As soon as I walked in, this place felt right. No frills, but service was solid. Will return.

This is the only Vietnamese place I found in Lexington and their food is ok. Definitely a few notches below pho I've had in other cities such as Boston, Seattle or Louisville. It's also about 20% pricier than other Vietnamese restaurants. At least it'll satisfy your pho craving.

Mmmm, pho. I love both the pho (P12!) and the rice vermicelli bowls (chicken and egg roll, please!); the food is delicious and not heavy or greasy at all. The pho broth is flavorful and with the addition of basil, sriracha, and lime, almost divine! The vermicelli bowls are filling while still feeling light, with well-flavored/tender meat and hot crispy egg rolls offset by cool noodles and crunchy veggies. Reminds me of the time I got a little lost in San Francisco Chinatown and ended up with the most amazing, absolutely massive $5 bowl of pho....thought I'd died and gone to poor college student heaven.

I use to dine in here all of the time, but my friend just shared a link on Facebook that Lex18 had posted about dirty dining in Lexington. Pho BC was recently found as one of the dirtiest dining restaurants in Lexington. This immediately caught my eye considering I was a regular here. Unfortunately I will not be returning, but just thought I'd let other diners know as well.

This is one of my "must eat" places in Lexington. It is perfect for lunch but it's 15 minutes from my office. My solution, I call and order ahead. When doing so, I've never had any trouble getting in and out quick enough to get back to work on time. Plus it makes me feel special to arrive and already have a table set out for me and my guest. Regarding the food, I'm ashamed to say I have never ventured far from the pho. I have tried the spring rolls, which were very good. The sauce with the spring rolls is tasty with bits of peanuts chopped in. But mainly I just order the P1 steak pho. I have tried the other meats, but the steak is so delicious I've decided to just get all steak instead sacrificing some of the meat that I love for some of the meat that is less tasty. Some reviewers have said that their pho is not as good as the pho in other cities. For me, this is the second place that I have ever tried the dish, and it's been the best that I've had. I have not tried pho in too many other places, but Pho BC is my benchmark for comparison. Perhaps there are better places in bigger cities, but I have yet to experience that. Personally, I always add some hoisin and sriracha sauce. One reviewer mentioned that the soup was bland and perhaps it is if you don't season it. For the novice I recommend that you put a little sriracha in and taste it before you go overboard. A little can go a long way. Another item that I recommend is the Vietnamese coffee. I always save this for desert. It's served in a porcelain coffee cup with a metal strainer above. As you wait the coffee strains through into the cup. The cup is also filled with a thick sweet milk. After the coffee is done straining, you mix it up with thick milk and pour it into a glass of ice. It's delicious. One reviewer mentioned that the vegetables were wilted. I find this shocking as I've been eating here on a regular basis for a couple of years and have never seen anything but fresh mint, lime, and bean sprouts. I don't like that they recently switched from the (Chinese soup spoon) to the metal spoons. The metal spoons aren't as good for drinking the broth and holding the noodles. Also, the service has been slower lately. I think that's because they've been very busy. The last few times I've been there, all of the tables have been full. Although that means the service might not be as good, it makes me happy to see that a restaurant that I like is doing well. They may need to expand and/or add some staff. I've noticed they seem to rely on 2 people to wait and bus the entire shop but they might need to add a third. This is one of my regular hotspots in Lexington that I always try to visit when I'm in town. The staff and owners have always been extremely friendly although service isn't always as quick when it's busy. The food is consistent and very good, although I don't like that they changed to a different type of spoon. I still give it 5 stars because it is one of my favorite places to eat and I've never had a bad experience here.

I'm giving them 4 stars because they are the only game in town. They have several dishes that I think are pretty awesome, and a lot of dishes that are pretty meh. I come here over and over for the same few things and have been pretty neutral on everything else. That being said, the Chef's Special Pancake must be tried. It's a crispy omelet-y deal that's eaten by wrapping it up in lettuce leaves and dunking in a dipping sauce. You get two huge omelets with each order- the first time my husband and I ordered it to split and we thought they made one omelet for each of us. But on subsequent visits, we've continued to receive the dueling omelets, so it's just a huge dish I guess! It's got a lot of great textural things going on, hot crispy eggy thing, cool crispy lettuce, sweet/tart sauce. This is what we come here for. There is also a dish (crispy noodle chicken? or something?) that is a tasty moo-goo-gai-pan-esque chicken stir fry served over a bed of deep fried noodles. It's a dangerous dish to order given the noodle-shattering situation, but for lovers of crunch, it's perfect. In spite of Pho being in their name, I'm not too crazy about it. Unlike Dave E. mine was very fresh and perfectly lovely to behold, just very mild and not nearly as exciting as the aforementioned dishes. Not to damn with faint praise, but if I were feeling sick, a bowl of this stuff would be awesome...Or on a rainy day maybe. I've gotten their Vietnamese coffee, both hot and cold, and it's great! Very intense, but good. I'm curious to try some of their stranger beverages (avacado shake, anyone?) but haven't done so yet.
