I miss a lot of things about living near Lexington, and this place is high on the list. Coming here was a pretty regular excursion throughout my college years, and for the few years after when I still lived in the area. I've since moved away, but still find myself thinking about how much I'd love a Penn Station sandwich. The sandwiches are loaded and hot, and no reason not to like them. The fries are great too, but the Italian was always what brought me back.

I placed a to go order, I've never had so much trouble trying to place an order. Jordan was rude both on the phone and durning pick up. My subs were thrown together haphazardly. I normally love Pennstation and will be sticking with the Zandale location, where they have competent staff.

I called in an order and my husband went to pick it up. They said it would be ready in 15 mins. He got there in 30 and the sandwiches were not all ready. Then he told them he thought there was supposed to be 5 sandwiches and they said no I had only ordered 4 and that they were the big ones so maybe we were sharing. They were wrong about that too, they were a small and a medium. So basically missing a sandwich. Also, I asked for Doritos and they gave us French fries. The kids drinks were missing and they charged him for two other drinks. The kids sandwiches were disgusting as well. There was barely any meat on them at all. Worst of all when I called the Manager, Vanessa, she was completely rude to me and told me how wrong I was and was not listening to anything I said. I was not looking for a refund but she was all hung up on this. I wanted my food right! I finally had to give up and hang up. She treated me horribly. Honestly I have never had such a bad experience and I used to eat there all the time. I will not be going there ever again. I am very disappointed. Poor food, poor customer service.

Okay, so I'm in Lexington, KY for one night. I've never been here before so I have no idea what is good. I haven't eaten anything all day, I don't have a car and the hotel that I am in doesn't have a restaurant. I head out on foot to the strip mall down the street and decide to give Penn Station a try. I had the Deluxe Italian which is served on this awesome bread that is dense (in a good way) and very flavorful. There was a good amount of meat and it was topped with lettuce, tomatoes, peppercinis and a really good oil. I got the combo which came with fries that were fresh cut from real potatoes right there in the store (like In and Out Burger but better). Maybe it's just the hunger talking, but that was one kick ass sandwich. Definitely better than anything I've had in Los Angeles in a while. Someone please open one of these in LA! (preferrably in the valley). They lost a star for having poor seating and a weird atmosphere, but the food is outstanding and I highly recommend it.
