I love the patio at Palmer's. It's perfect for happy hour or a nice lunch, or dinner! Lots of seating, the bar, bar area, all right next to the pond. I've had a few different entrees here and I wasn't really all that impressed by each one, but some of the plates going by to other tables looked better. Most recently I had the cabo street tacos with fish. I really didn't like the taco shells, I felt like I was eating fried dough. The taco filling was pretty good though, with a tasty chipotle spicy sauce. I have been meaning to get back here for the social hour every day from 4-6:30, they have a few appetizers for $5.50 and discounted drinks.

Went here to celebrate my mother's and my birthday and have to say we were not disappointed at all. We sat on the patio in the bar since it was a nice evening and felt very welcomed as soon as we came in. I ordered the lamb chops and absolutely loved them! They were juicy and tender, almost melted in my mouth. My mom got the steak and fries, the steak was a sirloin but did not taste like it at all (in a good way). Her fries were your typical fries, nothing fancy there, but the sautéed spinach was great too. My dad got the Palmer's burger and it was wonderful as well. The burger was so juicy, it was dripping on his plate. Will definitely be coming here again, and soon!!!

In my opinion the best outdoor atmosphere in Lexington. It is as close as you can come to sitting near the beach. I know that is a bit of a reach but it is a nice tiki bar feel. The food has always been good and good proportions. Sitting out on the water and a comedy club next door. A great night out in my opinion.

I came here on a business trip with some colleagues and we were not disappointed. The wait staff was very attentive and seemed to work very well together. Between the hostess, waitress and food runner, our glasses were always full without being over-bearing. Our waitress gave good recommendations and was very professional in demeanor. The outside patio seating is overlooking a medium-to-large size pond with a water fountain. The music was audible, however not too loud so we could enjoy good conversation. Patio seating is highly recommended. We started with the calamari and it was excellent. The sauce on it was very tastey and the quantity was perfect for sharing. (We had a 4-person party and there was plenty to go around.) I had the shrimp fettuccine alfredo, based on some pictures/reviews I saw on Yelp, and it was very good. The shrimp was crisp (not fried; just fresh and perfectly cooked) and the noodles weren't over cooked. The sauce had a slight smoke flavor but didn't stray too far from what you would expect in an alfredo. The other dishes at the table were: Fish and chips with (2) large catfish fillets, scallops, and pan seared salmon. The presentations were spot on and everyone proclaimed their satisfaction with the entree's. For dessert, I had the creme brulee. Oh my gosh was it good. There was a dollop of whip cream and a strawberry on the side that fit the dish perfectly. One of those desserts that I'm glad I didn't have to share. Not sure when I'll be back to Lexington, but this place left a mark on me. Highly recommended.

Excellent experience, love the flavor. Even the ketchup is made in the kitchen. If your in town, you should definitely check this place out!

Very disappointed! We called ahead to ask about GF options, and were told they could accommodate us. Upon arrival, we verified this again at the hostess stand before being seated. Both times, we were told that the server could review the menu with us and point out the dishes that could be prepared GF. However, the server was obviously not trained in this aspect, as he didn't even know what gluten was other than bread. After he left to go ask for some help, he returned with no more information, so we left. Obviously, we won't be back. Sad, because we like to support local businesses.

Of course I love mussels, they are soaked in coconut sauce, lemon grass, red curry. There must be at least about a lb of mussels. The mussels are so tender. The server was getting going and very knowledgeable of there of the good good menu. There is a wide choice oitems from the menu, plue a full bar. Palmers isolated right next Hilton suites another Broadway comedy club, and the Whole Foods. The manager Brittany came by introduced herself. I yearly enjoying this relaxing place.

12/4/2014 group of 6 went here for dinner-everything was excellent. I had the salmon salad and the salmon was the best I've ever had anywhere. One of the guests recommended the corn clam chowder-we all tasted it-fantastic! Service was exceptional. I even said to the waitress that I didn't want the red onion on my salad...but I could pick it off. She insisted it was no problem and said she wanted everything to be just like we wanted it. Another guest asked to have the fish in the fish tacos grilled instead of fried-no problem!!

Great venue with a fountain out front, and the dining area is spacious and elegant. Their strawberry and peach sangrias are sweet and refreshing- perfect for warm weather! I didn't much care for the wedge-cut truffle fries but the rest of the orders- bacon wrapped scallops, fish n chips, salad, tacos and burger were all great.

The first time we came to Palmers was two years ago. We really enjoyed the feel and decor of the restaurant but liked we could still be casual if we choose! The food was excellent our first visit! I had the scallops and my husband had a steak. We continued to go there and say outside at the bar area which I just love the outdoor seating, you almost forgot that New Circle is right there (almost). Than I heard management changed and we went a few other times and it was just not good, like I got sick not good and the portions and quality seemed to be taking a dive. I had the oysters and the scallops and I was so sick that evening it was disturbing. So we stopped going all together. My friend called me and wanted to go somewhere to sit outside and have drinks and dinner and picked Palmers. I was Leary but it isn't all bad so I had no problem. I had the burger and it was so incredibly good! We shared the Ahi appetizer and that was yummy also! I think it might be placed back on the list for spring and summer and give it its second chance. I just stay away from oysters and the scallops (although I love the scallop dish)

Spoiled. I'm spoiled. It's my standard expectation to have excellent food so excellent service gets my stars. This place has a beatific exterior and interior decor. Comfortable open but yet not exposed. A wonderful venue. The food selection is wonderful with a constantly updated menu.

I went to Palmers Fresh Grill with a group of friends last night. Everyone enjoyed their experience. The waiter was courteous and checked on us often. We had mussels, calamari and chipotle egg rolls as starters. All were tasty. For dinner, two of us had the Pretzel Crusted Trout. It was very good. I enjoyed the spinach and potatoes that came with it. My husband got the salmon and enjoyed that as well. The atmosphere is pleasant and festive and in a nice location. The lights were a little bright for dinner. That would be our only complaint. The waiter let us take our time and talk. I had the bourbon and salted caramel bread pudding for dessert. It was a great fall dessert.

I honestly have no idea how this place gets 4stars. The staff was kind and helpful, but we dealt pretty slow service. The drinks seemed watered down, a complaint that not only we had, but the table next to us had. Speaking of the table next to us, it was a group of older women complete with old woman perfume that blew into our faces with each breeze. This put a damper on the fun outdoor setting- I realize this is no fault of the restaurant, just one more thing that made this experience worthless. Then we asked for recommendations and decided to do their deal 4 course meal for $25 and our waitress highly recommended the Cajun shrimp and grits and the trout. The apps started out ok, the onion rings were pretty good, the Caesar salad was meh, and then the trout was just straight gross. I ate one bite. I couldn't even pretend. So bc the food failed so hard- I just can't recommend this place. It was one of those restaurant fails, that was expensive and sticks in your mind, because it felt like such a waste of money.

Went today for a business birthday lunch. Everything was nicely, cleanly decorated. Service was friendly. We had a table of 9, and drink refills did take a bit longer than expected. I had the lunch fish n chips. The rest of the party ordered sandwiches, which all seemed to be huge portions, but the fish felt like it was a bit small - only 2 planks, small/medium size; portion of fries was a bit skimpy. I also got a cup of chili. So why 4stars having said all that? Because the food was delicious. The beer battered fish was perfect. Not too done, and the batter was smooth & great. The chili was phenomenal! I could have eaten 2 more cups it was so good! I definitely recommend for lunch, but stick to the huge sandwiches & burgers.

My boyfriend and I were in town for the night and I wanted sea food. Based on the reviews I read from others on yelp, we decided to try palmers out. I'm glad we did! I couldn't have been happier with the service, food, and ambiance. It was amazing. I will definitely come back again next time I'm in town.

The best part about Palmer's is their "lake" front patio. It's very cute. I had lunch on the patio with my girlfriend and we both enjoyed it. I had a grilled chicken sandwich. She had fish tacos. It was my first time here, but I would definitely go back and try some of the other items on the menu.

Very good food. The oysters were awesome and the trout was cooked perfectly. The ambiance is fantastic as well. The price was a little steep but overall it's worth it. A very nice place and I will definitely eat here again

While the ambiance inside tugged at my heartstrings (think old Hollywood-1920s meets the Bluegrass horsey crowd), Palmer's dining experience left my palate wanting something more. I had the "Steak and Fries" and my partner had the Tuna Steak. The steak was decent, but the rosemary butter served with it was something that tasted like a kitchen experiment. If you've ever gone through Macy's at Christmas time, you've probably tasted what I'm talking about. You know the fog of perfume you walk through at the entrance, and then the aftertaste? That. My partner like the tuna steak well enough, but it would have been a tastier dinner had the waiter brought the specially requested broccoli BEFORE we were finished eating rather than when he was asking if he could box anything up to go. And about the waiter - let's just say my houseplant has more personality. He was thoroughly uninterested in us and our drinks sat empty for a good while before they were refilled. Dessert was never mentioned. Maybe he was having a bad day. At any rate, Wayne (I think that was his name?) fell short of what I'd expect from a waiter serving a $100 dinner and drinks. We probably won't eat at Palmer's again.

I had a great time enjoying a dinner here with my husband, son, and father. I can't think of another restaurant in Lexington that I feel is similar to Palmer's, so they immediately get points for being unique. We chose to eat outside on the patio overlooking the fountain and pond and it was a great atmosphere. They have fans and heat lamps built into the roof over the patio so they can adjust the temperature as needed. All of our food was fresh and flavorful (we got four different seafood dishes) and our server was the perfect balance of being friendly without being intrusive. This is easily one of my three favorite places to go to dinner in Lexington and I look forward to returning.

First visit so we're learning the menu. The truffle fries were spectacular as was the Palmer chop. Crab cakes were just ok. Over processed.

Commonly for me, I waited and visited several times before posting this review. Palmers is really hard to describe, the food, decor and location are unlike any other in Lexington. I really like the change that The Mall at Lexington Green has made in the last year or so, I think Palmers was one of the first steps in the right direction. The decor is eloquent and classy. I've had several pasta dishes and each time, it was right on point. On Tuesday 1/7/14 Palmers graciously hosted our first ever Yelp meet and greet, so I can attest and say that it's a great place if you're looking to bring a group. At the Yelp event, we ordered several appetizers and they were all excellent. The calamari, mussels and scallops were my favorites. The bread pudding is a must try, the first bread pudding version that I actually loved. I really can not say enough good things about each experience that I've had at Palmers, so I better end my review before sounding too much like a commercial ;) just go see for yourself, truly one of the best dining experiences in the bluegrass.

I met up with the other Lexington Yelp users here on Tuesday evening. This place is no slouch when it comes to decor. The table and booth spacing was such that the room seemed very inviting and open with lighting bright enough to see, but dim enough to create a warm ambiance. There were framed photos throughout the establishment of horses in non-traditional, artistic shots. The bar area sets toward the rear and to the left and has seating for about 15-20 people at the bar with 5-6 tables off to the right of it. Our server was the bartender since we sat just off of the bar and she was very pleasant and offered the group suggestions for drinks and appetizers. We ordered the Truffle & Parmesan Fries, Palmers Calimari, Thai mussels and a few other dishes. I had the ones that I named and they were all delicious. I definitely want to come back to try the steak and seafood. I think this is a great place for everyone (families, groups or even individuals) to come for a great meal and a good time with friends. I highly recommend it!

Love there outside patio, Maybe the nicest in Lexington. We both had the $25 4 course meal. All was pretty good. My wives meatloaf was great, Shrim n grits was ok. But your not going to get great shrimp n grits outside of South Carolina. Overall it was ok.

Had the Norwegian Salmon and the Ghirardelli Chocolate Brownie for dessert. Both the food and service were excellent. Make sure to ask for Jason as your server, he went above and beyond in helping our table decide our orders. Definitely planning on going again.

In town for Daughter's UK see Blue U orientation. Found Palmers on Yelp. Looked good and was not disappointed. Sat outside on the deck. Service was good. I had one of the specials, soft shell crabs. They were very good, lightly dusted in seasoned flour and sautéed. My daughter had the Cajun shrimp and grits. It was awesome. My wife had a burger and was happy with it and the way it was cooked. Will definitely return.

Lived in Lexington for 5 years & finally discovered this place! The outside sitting area was perfect with a great view of the pond. Our waiter frequently checked out on us and our food was delivered fast! The lamb chomps and tilapia where amazing! I would definitely recommend this place and will be back again before I move to Chicago in a few weeks.

I'm wasn't terrify impressed by my meal. I had the blue steak salad. I did ask for the steak to be medium but on the rarer side. It wasn't rare was raw. I would still try it again always willing to give it a second chance . The waiter was great on the positive side.

A buddy and I met for drinks and an appetizer last night about an hour before close so it was pretty empty when we arrived. The server was probably thinking, "Man, I want to get out of here people" but she was super friendly and the food and drinks were served to us quickly. We tried the crab cakes and I have to say they were the best crab cakes that I've ever indulged in. They were great paired up with a bed of arugula. The rest of the menu looked great so I will more than likely visit again when in Lexington.

This is now one of my favorite restaurants in Lexington. Food is very good. Atmosphere is great, service is attentive but not pretentious or overbearing. Over all I would give this a 4.5 stars but you can't give 1/2 stars. I travel a lot so I get the opportunity to sample food all over the country. Palmer's is what the name says "Fresh" We had the Scallops wrapped in Bacon, They were perfectly cooked to a moist consistency and bacon was decently cooked also which is rare for that dish. Brussel sprouts were shredded which was a bit strange but they came out very well taste and consistency wise. They shrimp and grits were fairly traditional low country style except for the cheese which add to the dish without over taking the other flavors. The chef really knows how to blend flavors and keep the dish to it's true origins. I had the Scallop and Shrimp dish which was fair in portion and once again perfectly cooked. Over all this is a very good place. Hopefully it will be around for a while. Oh and the prices were very good for the quality of the food. I'll definitely be putting this on my go to list.

This latest entry in Lexington Green replaces the former Regatta, which was kinda like a Red Lobster (right down to the biscuits) for people who wanted to kid themselves that they wouldn't be caught dead at a Red Lobster. Every new restaurant team should ask themselves a few key questions: does this place solve a problem? Does it meet a need? Does the culinary point of view contribute to this community? Maybe there is a need for one more place to take out-of-town relatives who are shopping the suburbs while visiting -- someplace other than the Mall food court or Olive Garden. This is ok for that, especially if they're relatives who are better seen and not heard -- the open floor plan creates quite a din (comparable to the Morrison's cafeteria that once occupied the upstairs of Lexington Green and also addressed the palates of visiting elderly relatives). The menu is typical suburban fare that seems to aspire to a chain or franchising deal -- with portions about 8 percent smaller and maybe 10 to 15 percent pricier. The wedge salad -- a nostalgia menu item that every Lexingtonian over 50 insists on -- was the paltriest version in town: four crumbles of bacon, six dots of outta season tomatoes, and a light drizzle of sweet bleu cheese dressing that probably wasn't out of a bottle but sure tasted like it. One suburban Mom in our party actually felt compelled to fall back on the famous quote, "it was terrible... and there was so little of it." The sliders were fine, the pasta a little gummy and bland -- the gorgonzola sauce was thin and didn't seem to have any gorgonzola in it. Service was friendly and solicitous, but harried (runners and servers didn't seem sure of who was responsible for what) -- they're still working out their systems as any new place does. Our server spent some time describing the house-made ketchup that accompanies the fries (and tastes a lot like KC Masterpiece). What problem does it solve in Lexington's restaurant scene? What un-met need does it address? Maybe time will tell.

Great place for date night beside Comedy off Broadway. Excellent drink list and seafood is a nice selection for Lexington. Also the bread pudding was fantastic.

I'm giving this place three stars but with the potential to earn two more with some time under its belt. The atmosphere is open with a hint of a horse racing theme. The decor is very simple and modern. I found the restaurant very inviting with a very cool atmosphere! Our server seemed to be very knowledgable about the menu and was very attentive. We went on a busy Friday night and we ordered a West Sixth IPA and the house Chardonnay along with the Thai Egg roll appetizer. The drinks and appetizer came out very quickly. The presentation of the appetizer was fantastic, unfortunately the egg roll was overlooked and dry. For our entrees I ordered the ribeye and my wife chose the pork chop, both highly recommended by our server. Once again, the presentation of our meals were perfect, but both dishes were overlooked. I ordered my ribeye medium-rare and it was presented to me medium-well. The sear on the steak was boarder-line charred while the fingerling potatoes were average. I would normally send back an overlooked steak, but we were limited on time. My wife's pork chop was also overlooked and under seasoned and the bacon/potato hash was decent but a bit of a disappointment. Given that Palmers has recently opened and was very busy, I'm going to write these mistakes off as needing to get some more services under their belt. I REALLY want to like this place. The atmosphere is great, the menu is fun and creative and the service was top notch! If the kitchen can work out the kinks, Palmers will be a great addition to Lexington's thriving restaurant scene. My wife and I have plans to return to Palmers in a couple of weeks. I'll revisit my review and update my rating! However, until then, please give Palmer's a try! I would reccomend it.

Meatloaf sliders: good flavor but the meat-to-bun ratio was light. Scottish Salmon: The sides and sauce lacked wow factor, but the salmon itself was very good. Dessert: The bread pudding was GREAT. Save room! This place is still fairly new, and I am intrigued enough to go back and try more of the menu.

Went to Palmers on Christmas eve. Only about a third of the tables were taken. Hard to describe the atmosphere. Minimalist in nature, but with chandeliers, butcher block table tops, very bright lighting - not very romantic, but yet with candles on the table... GF had a house salad, which she liked very much, we also that the sweet onion Hush Puppies, - which were outstanding. We had the tabasco - Rings of Fire - Onion rings. They were cooked quite well, and were interesting, but we only ate One apiece, just way too hot for our tastes - but they were as advertised - and prepared quite well. I had the Grilled Trout - it was cooked correctly, and nice seasoning. I had ordered the mashed potatoes instead of the standard red potatoes, when the meal came they had not put on the correct potatoes. The young waiter quickly went and got the mashed potatoes. All in all - Salad and fish were quite good, Hush puppies were very good, the onion rings were a bit to hot for our tastes. Waiter kept our Iced Tea filled. Main issue I had was the atmosphere was odd, I was looking for something a bit more romantic, But with the lighting and echos - just did not get there.

Palmer's patio is a great place to relax with a drink. Never disappointed with the service or the dining selections. Not only convenient to the Hilton, but overall a great place for dinner and drinks.

Good place to blow through a lot of calories. Food is appropriately priced for the quality. Beer cheese and chips is a great app. Tip: if your staying next door at the Hilton Suites and show your room key they give you a free appetizer which gives you an extra drink on your expense account. Relaxed vibe and good looking crowd.

First time here, absolutely loved it. Prices are on the higher end, but not steep. My only deterrent from giving it a 5 was the price/portion of the fries. Although it's minor in the grand scheme of things, I'd think that $4 would net the customer more than the equivalent of 1 potato worth of fries (if it was even that much, likely closer to half). That said, the mussels were excellent & the West Amber Ale was a great addition to my meal. Our server was efficient & funny. The decor is very open with tall spacious ceilings & colors that just scream "Welcome", the perfect atmosphere. I look forward to visiting again with my husband, we are in need of a nice date night & this is the perfect place!

This place is amazing! We decided to go for lunch and go tapas style. We sampled 5 different things on the menu. The bacon wrapped scallops and meatloaf sliders were amazing. Service is great. Get a seat outside

Excellent service. A nice pesto served with the bread. My lemon blueberry martini was quite a bit more tart than I like it and pink. My bone in chop presentation was very nice. Perfectly cooked, wonderful texture, but somewhat too salty. The bourbon maple and potatoes were a perfect compliment. The fried apples were nicely fried, but the apples were harder than I expected, yet worked nicely. My husband said his meatloaf was salty too I tried his Tabasco onion rings and that was really good. Now for dessert. Caramel salted bread pudding to share. ... Review in tasty ..would prefer a little more bourbon. Ice cream is sweet

My husband and I went there on a beautiful Saturday evening and sat in the bar. They were super busy but we were able to get drink orders in and relax by the pond. Service was friendly and the wine/cocktail/beer/food menu all looked great. I ordered the Moscow Mule, which is one of my favorite drinks, and it came out in the tiniest little copper mug I've seen. It was very cute, but a little disappointing for the money. I have honestly never seen a copper mug that small except for tastings. All other drinks and beer ordered were fantastic. For our appetizers we ordered the calamari and mussels. The calamari was delicious! The sauce they tossed it in was wonderful and the breading wasn't too thick. The mussels were a not as impressive. The curry sauce they were tossed in was congealed in a little blob at the bottom of the bowl. It was thick and goopy, it overwhelmed the tiny mussels. This will not stop us from returning. We will definitely be back, the atmosphere and service was great, and I would love to explore the menu more.

It would be fun if the outdoor patio was ever opened. We have been trying to sit out and enjoy the weather for about 2 weeks now & every time we go there is no staff outside or if there is they pour one drink & disappear . Hope they fix this before summers over

First time visit to Palmers. Love new decor, comfy and bright. Seated quickly and server arrived soon. Was courteous and attentive. Had knowledge of food on menu and answers questions. Food prices mid range, not cheap but not overly high. Food came in reasonable time. Wife had fried fish and I had catfish. Both were great, nicely fried but soft and flaky inside. Hush puppies yummy. Best I've had in long time. Not usual doughballs. Ketshup homemade and smoked, OMG good. Finish with Bread Pudding. IT IS TO DIE FOR! Wonderful and as good as any I've had. So I must say I was very pleased and will be back many more times. Follow up!! Have been back a few times. I do like the fish and the meatloaf is real good. My only problem is they are little pricy compared to others with similar stuff. Someone needs to contact Mall management about lake smell. Did not use to smell. Simple lack of maintenance on their part not restaurants. Still like Palmers.

They soooo ruined a great place. The prices went up and the food was bad. Real small drink selection. Unless all u want is wine. I used to love to go there all summer and watch baseball and football on patio.

As of now I give it 4 stars. But I will need more data to tell for sure if it will stay 4. I have Shrimp and Scallops with gnocchi, very good and would have again. Also had app fries that was good. Love being out on the patio as its hard to beat in Lex. I will be back for more Data so stay tuned!

Palmers is located int eh old Regatta building but luckily it isn't owned by the same people that used to own it. The new owner is very hands on I met him as he stopped by to say hi. One word describes the food here.. AMAZING. The meatloaf sliders are a must. I went on a friday night of opening week and WOW. The place was packed but it took no time to get a seat. I sat at the full bar and the drink combos the have are just as amazing as the food and atmosphere. This place is a must. If you call yourself a foodie you better try it or you will be kicking yourself for not. I also had the Ribeye steak it was cooked perfect and probably the best steak I have had in years.

Very nice experience. Good remodel of a Regatta: open, good ambient lighting. Though the lights were turned down too much too early. Greeted by friendly staff. Scott the manager was very accommodating on special order of fried oysters. Food was delicious though it took 25 minutes to get it. Would have cooked red potatoes longer. A bit over priced. Four of us with no appetizers or desserts or liquor (2 water and 2 teas) and Bill was $87 with tip. I would go back but need to work that one off. The only real ding is that even with no music it was very difficult to hear - had to yell at times - due to few soft surfaces or draped to absorb sound.

Wouldn't have gone, except we had a coupon from the Hilton. It's not especially attractive and quite noisy. And a strange wine list. The bottles listed are very expensive by my standards ($40++) and the wines by the glass are fairly priced. However, there is no way to tell the latter are available by the bottle at 4x glass price. Wouldn't that be good to know? The server seemed to think we should have understood that. To start the so-so bread was accompanied by an acidic dip. Note to restaurant: get some olive oil in that dip! Best news for last. The scallops and the filet were first rate. We were just passing thru Lexington, but under similar circumstances, I'd eat there again.

First time at Palmers, but happy to see Regatta was no more. Made reservations for three on Mothers Day, called and was helped with excellent customer service on the phone for a mid-afternoon reservation. Arrived and was seated immediately, greeted by our server less than five minutes later. Super attentive and helpful, we tipped very well. Never had less than half of our drinks before he brought fresh ones. We ordered the pork chop, salmon, and mahi entrees. Also had a cup of the soup of the day-white bean turkey chili...All were excellent! Although more pricey than the normal chain restaurant, a very nice date night or special occasion dinner spot. Will definitely return and highly recommend!

Inconsistent food, marginal service and loud (not from music). Definitely eat outside if you are willing to wait for a table (no reservations). Inside it is like you are inside a drum. The noise just keeps bouncing off the windows, wood floors and metal tiled ceiling. Definitely needs some acoustical tiles and sound management. I'll be surprised it this one makes it. Been in business long enough to work out the kinks.

Went there as part of Beyond Grits restaurant week, but had to ask for the menu associated with that. In the end we did not order from that menu. The food was good, not great or extra memorable, but very decent. Our server was not very knowledgeable but extremely pleasant and helpful as she could be (think she may have been new). The fried oysters had good flavor, but the breading lacked any kind of crunch. The truffle fries were pretty disappointing, undercooked potatoes. The salads were very good. The fish tacos were excellent and I would order them again. They have very good wine selection and it is priced accordingly. I wish we had requested outdoor seating when I made the reservation, but did not realize how important that would be. Although the interior is beautiful (extra tall tin ceilings, white leather booths, natural wood tables and gorgeous chandeliers, wood-look tile floors) it was SO loud our table of four in a tight booth could hardly hear each other. I suspect they did not plan the acoustics well. I would not go back unless I had an outdoor table which looked extremely pleasant there on the water. Too bad, because it really is beautiful.

Why 4 stars? Because it satisfied my need, despite the lameness of said need. --- --- --- I was traveling to Lexington for work, and staying right next door in the Hilton. I had a small window of time to grab a quick bite before I needed to head over to that evening's Yelp event. Heather P recommended Palmer's, which happened to be approximately 75 steps way from my room :) I normally would have ordered their hot brown, and not even given any other item a second thought. But, there was a major hangup with this - I had just completed a 3-day juice cleanse the day prior, and my meal at Palmer's was going to be my initial re-introduction into the world of solid food. So I went with the caribbean chicken salad. It was great, and it didn't set off any alarms in my stomach, which had been so used to only taking in kale and carrot juice. I also liked the water-front theme here. Obviously living in Florida, that's not uncommon at home, but I don't ever tire of it :) I realize I wasted the first two paragraphs outlining a story that no reader of this review would care about. They just want to know, "is Palmer's good or not good?" The residents of Lexington could not care any less about my juice cleanse, and I'm not narcissistic enough to think otherwise. But I just had to justify why I would order a salad when a hot brown was available. I felt weird not defending myself.
