So.... Olive Garden. Yep. With soooo many different exciting restaurants to try in Lexington (I have tons of bookmarks on Yelp!), we ended up at Olive Garden today. Go figure. But.... having a gift card and a limited budget is a good reason for Olive Garden. And breadsticks. Oh, those breadsticks. We came here around 2pm for a late lunch. We were quite surprised by how busy and packed the restaurant was; however, we were pleasantly surprised at how short the wait was and how quickly we were seated! A five-minute wait for two? Yes, please! Service was good -- our waitress was quick and attentive. The wait for our food was short and the food itself was fantastic. I was, however, bummed to find out that the dish I usually order --- tilapia with angel hair pasta -- is no longer an Olive Garden offering. Also, since when have the prices gone up!? Eek. I tried something I haven't tried here before: the five-cheese ziti. My husband had his usual Fettuccine Alfredo. The ziti was surprisingly good. He enjoyed his dish too. And of course, we devoured salad and breadsticks. I also ordered a slice of white chocolate raspberry cheesecake to go because.... I just couldn't resist. Our bill was just over $30 for two entrees and a slice of cheesecake (we had water to drink). Most of it was covered by our gift card, but the price increases scare me. And let's face it --- we all know that while Olive Garden may be our guilty pleasure, it's an overpriced chain that can be easily beat by quality, local restaurants. We won't be back much, but it's good to know how Lexington's Olive Garden compares to the Chicagoland locations. But those breadsticks.... mmmmm!

I had a tough choice on where to go to eat so I picked Olive Garden. It was a 40min wait for excellent service and food. To start off the appetizer I got was the Lasagna Fritta and mozzarella Fondutta it was decadent. My main Course was capatavii pasta with garlic Alfredo sauce and chicken Fritta. Overall I would say my best experience at Olive Garden.

The first thing you will notice about this Olive Garden is the weird smell when entering. Day Visited: Friday, August 28, 2105 Server: Sat at the bar tended by Brent, though my bill said Joseph F.. Brent is an excellent server. He tried and succeeded at upselling me. He was knowledgable and descriptive about the food, and he had good quality short quips one would expect from a good bartender. I wish most front of the house staff were like him. Zuppa Toscana - is essentially a potato cream soup with spice and sausage. A little disappointed with the thickness of the soup, it seemed watery... And looks like it was thickened with cornstarch. It's potato cream soup for goodness sakes... Don't water it down... The flavor was good. Calamari- cooked perfectly, light and crispy. If my opinion counts, the marinara should be spicy for this item. Lasagne- was a soggy mess topped with marinara. The texture was terrible. I am happy the portion was small because I didn't want to feel bad for not eating all of it. If I come back to this place it won't be for the food, it will be for the service from the staff .

Food was delicious but service was a little slower than usual. Our waitress seemed to be covering a lot of tables and tried her best to keep everyone happy. I had the baked ziti, and my husband had the spaghetti. I had a glass of the house Moscato and it was very good. Sweet and cold. I didn't eat all my ziti, so our waitress boxed it and gave us fresh breadsticks too. Wonderful dinner.

As a treat my husband took me to my favorite restaurant last night, yes be surprised that it is Olive Garden. We arrived at 9:25 and were seated promptly. The waitress gets our drink orders and we decide on what to eat. She comes back takes the orders and brings out 2 pieces of very hard bread sticks. I was kinda aggravated but hey, they'll bring more! Well.. She didn't. When we asked for more we were told that they were out and the kitchen refuses to make more after 10:00... Uhm I'm unsure what clock they had because it wasn't even 10 yet. Our food comes out and my husband got the tour of Italy and I ordered the smoked mozzarella chicken. He said his was "okay" but mine was completely greasy! And I've had this dish before, it wasn't saucy it was just oil. Very disappointed considering it was a treat and spent almost two hours worth of hard earned money to pay for sub par. Not sure when I'll be back. But I will add that when I served I was happy to see any table to walk in to help pay my bills!

Every time I go to Olive Garden I get more and more frustrated. I got the endless soup and salad on this occasion. The salad was awesome - but the soup was just so-so. I asked for a different soup with my refill and was told that I could only get the same soup again - but would be charged a fee otherwise. I then told them I didn't want another bowl of soup and they brought me one anyway.

We had lunch here before my flight back to Austin, TX. It was what you expect out of Olive Garden which is a decent mail for a value price and they didn't fail to deliver. But above and beyond that, I had stated to my waitress that I just wanted quick service because my flight would be soon and I didn't want to rush. She made sure that everything came out on a timely basis and that I wouldn't cut it close to our flight. The food was on par for Olive Garden. It's amazing how it's consistent all over the country. Yes this isn't unique or special but you get what you expect. The service was above average in this case. I wish I could remember my waitresses name. I think it started with a L and was very unique. Kudos to her. The atmosphere looked just like any other Olive Garden. Great value, decent food, good service. I enjoy coming here from time to time.

I used to love this Olive Garden but this time I've been made wait almost 45 minutes for my order to arrive I ate it not very warm then asked where my soup was cause it stilled had not come out they h a d forgot finally comes and I had been also waiting for a refill which I had one drink but they refilled it with something else... Used to be a great restaurant probably could be again if they payed their workers a living wage so even though I'm upset I sort of have sympathy for the waiters who work for nothing... But I won't be back

I want to start by saying I don't enjoy their breadsticks or salad. The breadsticks are very average and don't exhibit much taste. The ones at Fazolis are actually much better. The salad is more disappointing. Only a few bites are edible, otherwise it is just bits, ends and pieces of lettuce, onion, tomato and olive. I ordered the Chicken Stuffed Marsala. It was very tasty and exceeded expectations but at around $16, it was too expensive. I only come here sparingly and am never left "wowed" but the entrees are generally acceptable.

Don't ask for a dry side of noodles unless you have 9.99 to pay for it. They justified it by saying because I ordered another entree and appetizer and asked for salad and breadsticks. The bar waitress was terrible. I saw her 3 times and each time because I flagged her down.

I still love Olive Garden's minestrone soup (where else can you find such a tasty and filling option for only 110 calories?), and their many delicious and comforting carb options, but I wanted to update my review of the service. I visited Olive Garden last night (a Monday night) with four friends and our server was friendly, but inattentive, slow, and forgot a couple of things that we asked for. I normally wouldn't update based on one night of off service, but this was the second time in a row that the service has been slow.

We head over with our family of five on a Tuesday night for dinner. When entering the building we got the "ugh... really" look from the greeter. When I said party of five, she proceeded in a less than polite tone, "It will be AT LEAST a 45 minute wait". I looked a bit confused and said in a surprised voice, "really?" The nice and curt response was, "there are five parties ahead of you". I noticed empty tables so I am guessing that they're understaffed. Yet... they had four, yes FOUR "hostesses" standing at the check in desk. It reminded me the "Mean Girls" movie. We declined the lovely red flashy coaster and headed out the door to Bella Notte a decision we were extremely pleased with. So, to the four mean girls thank you for pointing us to our new favorite Italian place to eat. It was fantastic and the prices compared to yours. We will not be back.

I've always enjoyed going to Olive Garden and eating the salad and breadsticks. My family and I went after church today. Were told a 5-10min wait but were seated in less than 5 min I think. We waited longer for the waitress to even just say hi and take our drink order than we did to be seated. The waitress was very slow. Their prices have increased quite a bit the last few years. My daughter got the kids spaghetti with meatball (which on their sheet said1.29 extra) I was fine with that. When we got our bill we were charges 2.09. I know it's not much but they should do due diligence and change their kids menus and update prices if they aren't going to honor it. Probably the worst service I've had in a long time there.

Several problems here. For being called the "Olive Garden", our salad only had one olive in it. Pretty sure only one tomato too. But thanks for the lettuce! Then, was unable to eat about 1/3 of the meager piece of lasagna I ordered because it was burnt black. Why didn't I go to Puccini's again? Oh yeah. Gift cards.

    (2)
  • Jerry A.

Soup was luke-warm. I ordered the Tour di Mare and it looked horrible. The fettuccine was undercooked and luke warm. I paid without complaining just to get the hell out of here! They let one of the server's daughters run around asking for chocolate. HORRIBLE Experience!

  • Peter B.

I don't understand why you'd eat here instead of the excellent Bella Notte just a few blocks down the street. Our 12-year-old niece wanted to have her water in a wine glass, but the waiter told us it was "against store policy"... something about too many children sneaking alcohol into their glass. What happened to "the customer is always right"? The sangria mostly tasted like fruit juice. If there was any wine in it, it was so diluted I couldn't really taste it. Most damningly, the pasta was horrible. I tried pasta from several plates, and all of it was mushy and overcooked. I guess Olive Garden isn't Italian enough to know what "al dente" means. Everything else was average to good... the bruschetta was very crispy, the salad had just the right amount of dressing, and the taste of all the dishes was fine. But it wasn't enough to make up for the mediocre service and awful pasta.

  • Matry P.

The food is excellent, but the place is severely understaffed considering the constant flow of customers. We were a table of four. Once the first three were served their meal, the fourth didn't get plated until 10 minutes later. Breadsticks were constantly promised, but only finally served with the last bites of the meal.

  • Lee P.

I have tried some of their dishes and they are pretty good. I like that you get lots of bread sticks with your meal. they offer a good deal Monday through Friday on the lunch menu it is a bit more costly on the weekends than I like. Their meals are okay but I have been to Italian Restaurants that are better. the service has been good when we went. Okay but not great restaurant.

I have to be completely underwhelmed with a dining experience to think to Yelp it two months later. This qualifies. I am NOT a picky eater; shoot, I love my In-N-Out burgers here on the West Coast and am not particularly a taste, organic, fresh, or other kind of snob, even though I appreciate those qualities. Having said that, the Lexington Olive Garden was not even delicious, fresh, or any other quality in high amount by ANY stretch of the imagination. I still enjoyed my time there because of the generally friendly atmosphere, friendly service from entry to exit, and company of one of my best friends. But, my bread and four cheese dip were borderline disgusting. The bread was hard (and complimentary breadsticks tasted like they had just been hardened after being thawed out) and the cheese dip was like a tasteless porridge. I also expected to pick up the newspaper and read "VP George Bush Elected as President," because it sure felt like a kickback to the late 1980s. Suggestions: improve the ambiance and (likely company-wide) improve the quality of the ingredients you use. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because I left my gift card behind and they were nice enough to just issue a new one.

soup and salad for lunch is hard to beat at this place. Service was very good. One of the waiters a guy seen that no one had been around to take our drink order but our table was not his. He jumped in and helped us get our drinks sooner. Great touch of service. Thanks guy I should have got your name.

It's the Olive Garden. Really, do you need to know more? it's like every other Olive Garden. It's not gross or anything, but if you want better food from a chain Italian place go a few yards down the road to Belle Note and if you actually want GREAT food go down the road a bit further to one of the best places in town, Giuseppe's. The Olive Garden is also irritating because it shares a parking lot with the mall and if shopping is heavy, you'll have to walk a long way.

Slow... My fiancée and I usually can get out of a restaurant within 30 mins depending on what we order. We has unlimited soup, salad, and pasta. Only ordered two orders of little bowls of pasta but we were there for about an hour and fifteen mins (and I even rushed our waiter at the end). He only had two to three tables. I have worked in restaurants before and this is very unusual for a two top table. Also, no mints given with check! That's the best part of the meal! Boo! Subpar Olive Garden!

"Iceburg Lettuce Leftovers, Bad Breadsticks, Canned Soup?" If you expect to get anything good for the 6 or 7 buck all you can eat soup salad and breadsticks think again.. There might be some decent dishes on the menu but the quality of eat all you can ruins the reputation of this place.. For it to be a garden of olives it tastes like they were grown in cow dung. Not to say that if you go for dinner that you might not get something ok. But ive also ordered dishes of the menu and none had that great of flavor.. Its just around the corner From Bella Notte.. I would consider it..

But it wasn't enough to make up for the mediocre service and awful pasta.

The food is excellent, but the place is severely understaffed considering the constant flow of customers. We were a table of four. Once the first three were served their meal, the fourth didn't get plated until 10 minutes later. Breadsticks were constantly promised, but only finally served with the last bites of the meal.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
