This place is great! They have a fantastic, inexpensive lunch buffet with tons of selections (including vegetarian friendly ones), although I could probably make a meal alone out of their yummy fettoush salad and lentil soup! One of my favorite things here is actually their drinks - they make both mint and clove iced tea, both of which are fantastic.

The lunch buffet is amazing but its also great for dinner. Its also one of my go-to places for takeout. The entrees are huge so they can be shared and the sandwiches are a great bargain! They have the best Tabbouleh in the region, so make sure to try it.

i was disappointed trying this restaurant. they should made 'falafel' station instead- they had all the main ingredients. duhh we went there for lunch buffet and i've ordered mint iced tea which tasted very plain. i couldn't taste/smell that fresh mint. they had little pieces of bread shaped like slices of pizza and served them cold. maybe that's how it was supposedly served(?) but it didn't taste good at all. very unpleasant.....

I love this place! I don't make it over here as much as I would like. The hummus is fantastic! The lunch buffet is wonderful as well. The service is great! The restaurant is pretty small, so if you don't like crowded places I would come to try it out during slower times.

Not a mirage. This is an actual oasis of Mediterranean food in Lexington: A+ service A+ menu selections (why is it that mediterranean places always seem to have such a large list of menu options/combos?) A+ Fatoush salad size, which is enormous even when it comes with the Veggie platter. The attention to detail with spices and the way the vegetables were prepared was impressive too.

My daughter and I decided to have the Oasis Platter because of the variety. The waiter tried to convince me that it was too much food for the two of us but there wasn't anything smaller with that variety. We had the choice to start with a salad or lentil soup along with the hummus and pita bread, we chose the salad which only came with a very good vinaigrette dressing. The beef in the platter was a bit tough but maybe that's the way it's supposed to be. Next time I'll stick with all chicken. The Kafta skewer (ground beef and lamb is what the waiter said that it was made of) and the grape leaves weren't my cup of tea...we've only had Mediterranean one other time and that was a few years ago...so this was a "different" experience for us...in a good way though. I thought it would a healthy choice but our favorites were fried...the falafels (mashed spiced fava beans and chickpeas) and the kibbies both were fried to a golden brown and they were excellent. The rice was great and I usually don't like rice. We got there at about 6 on a Thursday and beat the crowd because when we left at around 7 and I think they were full to capacity. A lot of people were coming to pickup their carry out orders as well. Our waiter was a bit slow which is the mean reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. I'll come back though.

Good Mediterranean food is hard to find overall, so last place I was expecting to find good food was Kentucky. The food is great, especially the chicken shawarma. They know how to make it right here. why only 3 stars? Service - they can be really slow. They'll forget to bring parts of the order (soup after the meal, tea after the food?) If you are not in a rush, the food is good... just expect hit or miss with service

Really great food, especially for a buffet. I like everything I've ever tried. Just a really great place. My one suggestion is that they label the buffet so I know what I'm eating and then know what to order off the menu.

We are very lucky to have such good Mediterranean food so close to downtown. We're regulars having eaten take out every 2-3 weeks for years and years. BRAVO. One request... become a WiFi hotspot!

I don't know authentic Mediterranean food, so I don't know just how authentic Oasis is, but it sure good. I really enjoy this place. I absolutely LOVE their rice. It's even better if you mix some of their delicious garlic sauce in with it. While we're on that topic...the garlic sauce is amazing. I always ask for extra, and so far they've yet to charge me for it. As for their entrees, the chicken shwarma is my absolute favorite. It's tender and flavorful. And it's a HUGE serving. For $13, I had enough to eat for lunch, then finished the rest for dinner. I also enjoy their falafel "pita-wich" and lentil soup. Overall, nothing but good things to say!

My favorite lunch buffet. Love the lentil soup a many salad and vegetarian choices. If you come for dinner, portions are large. Kids love the Chicken shawarma. Service is always quick.

Pros: friendly and helpful staff, location, and short wait time for to-go orders Cons: the chicken and beef were dry, as if the food had been sitting for hours, or precooked and reheated. They are edible and were well seasoned but just not as good as Sahara's or Zaina's

  • Jess F.

I tried the lunch buffet, and I wasn't very impressed. It was pretty small. I liked the lentil soup and hummus and that's it. I was particularly disappointed in the falafel. They were tiny and didn't have much flavor. There's better Mediterranean in Lex. This place doesn't even compare to Sahara.

I came here for the first time today and had a lovely experience. My friend and I both ordered the lunch buffet and it's a nice little spread of food including pita bread, salad, hummus, lentil soup, white rice, falafel, and various vegetable and meat dishes. My favorite was the falafel, and meat with potatoes and carrots with rice. The price was reasonable and Peter, our server, was very sweet and attentive. I told him I had never been there before and he gave us a complimentary slice of baklava. It was delicious. I assumed the food was Greek but was told it was more Lebanese. Either way, it was very good food, with a nice ambience, wonderful service and I will certainly be back.

My husband I tried Oasis on a recommendation from a friend. We loved it! The service was extraordinary...always helpful, explained how each item was made and the particular ingredients. We had the dinner for two (with rice) - with one of us selecting the soup and the other the salad (which was huge, as others have stated). It was enough food for 3 and still would have leftovers; and for only $25. Everything was very tasty! So why a 4 and not a 5 - 1. I have not had enough Mediterranean food to compare with other places. 2. Clean and appropriate atmosphere, but not extra special. 3. I think five should be for the best of the best.

  • Megan M.

One of my favorites in lex. Turkish coffee is amazing. The garlic sauce is to die for. Moussaka is on point - I love it all! The only thing that disappoints is the pita is not home made.

Oasis is a good Mediterranean restaurant if you want "fancy" Mediterranean. It's on par with most all other Mediterranean joints in this town. I think they all shop at the same Mediterranean restaurant food supplier. Oasis just fancies it up a bit, no styrofoam plates, plastic forks, you don't have to fish your pita bread out of a plastic bag, and there's less scowling. You have a server who serves you with real silverware and whatnot. This extra fancy costs a little more than those other places and that's fine. It's an experiential thing...if you can afford any experience beside the feeling of food being rammed down your gullet. To sum it up: Food is exactly the same as every other Mediterranean place in Lexington, but it's nicer. It costs a little more that the others. It's in a nice location and there are no stryofoam plates.

  • Patrick B.

This used to be the best Med place in Lexington, but it's been surpassed in cost and quality in my opinion. Still, definitely has the best hummus in town, hands down. I really feel like it's overpriced for dinner, but you get A LOT of food. Be ready to take it home! Worth a trip, but I prefer Sahara in Beaumont for similar styled food.

This place is SO GOOD! I decided to go here because I saw high reviews on Yelp and thought giving it a try would be fun. I love iced tea and was excited to hear that they had two kinds of unsweetened tea: mint or clove. I ordered the mint, my husband ordered the clove, and we both tasted each others. They were both delicious! We ordered a sampler platter to start, and the amount of food (including delicious hummus and pita) was really generous for the price. Everything was fresh and light, and we had to stop ourselves from gorging before our dinner came out. We enjoyed this place very much and had enough leftovers for a meal the next day. When we told a local resident that we were at Oasis the night before she smiled and said "I LOVE that place!" It seems like everyone knows about this place and appreciates the delicious food and friendly service.

If you're in the area, Oasis is an awesome lunch buffet spot. First of all, if it's hot out get the iced tea. They have two kinds: clove and mint. I prefer the clove, but they are both delicious. Skip the menu, and get the buffet. The highlight is the soup. It's lentil-based and really delicious. There are a couple of meat dishes, but the bulk of the buffet is vegetarian. So good news if you're a vegetarian looking for a good place to eat out. The tomato and cucumber salad is extremely fresh, and the falafels are just a little spicy. The decor is not fancy - paper napkins and plastic cups, but they play fun Arabic pop music and the wait staff are polite and helpful.

Yummy and cheap Mediterranean food! What more could you want? How about plenty of parking- well it has that too. Small and cozy and casual. For the best deal go for lunch and get the buffet. Peak lunch hour tends to be very busy so be aware that you might have to wait.

The lunch buffet here was terrific. There were lots of options (though most were vegetarian). Everything was very, very tasty, and nothing seemed to be a 'filler' dish. At $9, its more than most cheap lunch buffets, but it is definitely worth it.

Probably my favorite restaurant in Lexington. The lunch buffet is great for lunch and they have many vegetarian options. Everything is very fresh and Highly recommended!!

Oasis is the best Mediterranean restaurant in Lexington. I always get the Oasis Platter when I'm there with guests because I love everything. Hummus is perfect -- not too heavy. Their falafel puts a lot of NYC spots to shame, and the kibbeh is succulent. I've been to Sahara, King Tut, Zainna... between the counter service and measly servings of meat, they just aren't in the same league. Oasis has been around a long time for a reason.

Their Oasis Platter is a meat and hummus lovers heaven.

Awesome little mediterranean place-- we had the lunch buffet which is served 11am-3pm Monday-Saturday. I am usually weary of buffets but this had lots of vegetarian options (huge plus for us as we are not red meat eaters) and a GREAT chicken dish (I think it was called the Oasis dish with chicken). Yes, it is a little pricier than some lunch buffets at $9, but great choices- super fresh greek salad, okra stew, lentils & rice, lentil soup. Everything was great except for two things- mint tea wasn't our favorite and I didn't care for the chickpea dish they had, but loved everything else I tried! Great way to try lots of awesome med food for a great price!!

Mediterranean being my absolute favorite type of cuisine, I should have known better then to build up expectations for a lunch buffet in Kentucky. Still, I was pretty underwhelmed. The highlights of the buffet were the salads/fresh greens and the hummus, which is pretty hard to mess up. Anything on the hot side was a pass. I tried their baked egg dish, the chicken (which was dry and served in the same sauce as the egg thing), okra, and orzo (they had no rice option, which I think is weird). Overall it was okay, nothing to really write home about. Maybe their a la carte menu is more interesting, and brings home more of the authentic Middle Eastern seasoning and spices I was missing. I probably wouldn't go back unless I was in the area and in a rush.

Those were some delicious Kabobs! The portions were generous, the flavors made my mouth sing and the Baklava was served warm. I can't wait to go back! There are chicken and fries for kids who won't cooperate. You can also get a Pita-wich or salad for a lighter option. I had the Chicken Kabob which came with a starter Fattoush salad, rice, garlic pickle slices, Garlic sauce, Hummus and a thin Pita bread. For drink I tried the Arabic Tea. The tea is very strong and a little bitter. Not bad, I just usually choose a more mild tea. The space itself was on the smaller side but comfortable booth & chair seating. It was clean, the lighting was just right and the service was friendly.

I've only had the lunch buffet. Hopefully I'll try something off the full menu soon. I love Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food, and the type of food is not as prevalent as I need it to be. The mint tea is tasty and refreshing. The clove tea is...not my cup of tea, but that is a personal preference. The Shakshuka (?) on the buffet line is so good, but I couldn't find it on the full menu.

My boyfriend and I both ordered the Shawarma mix with beef and chicken. Take my advice and split this dish! There was so much (delicious) food that we could eat on it for two more nights! The sauces were delicious and the service was super friendly. The salad was very good and fresh and also there was a dressing with it that was simple but totally amazing. The only drawback was that the chicken was a bit dry for my taste but overall it was a great experience.

Amazing food on an impromptu night... Food was fresh and filling. Best Greek salad I've had in ages!

I would love to meet the two people who can finish the Oasis Platter. This is perfect dish to share with a healthy leftover for lunch the next day. My husband loves the lentil soup and my toddler, who is a hummus snob just adores it. They pride themselves on cleanliness as one of the few restaurants rated 100. Where can you go for $30 plus tip for appetizer, salad, main entree, dessert and a meal leftover? We just love it!!

I was here 3 times in 4 days. Totally awesome in all regards. Staff, cleanliness, and most important FOOOOOD. They cater soooo well to vegans here, but don't be afraid omnivores, there is tons of meat for you to feast on. The lunch buffet that happens Mon-Sat is just the best. I ate so much and still didn't feel sick because it's such real and healthy food. Great ingredients, expertly prepared. Can't wait to come back here next year when I travel through again.

This was my initiation into Med. food, and I'm hooked. I think the grilled chicken dishes are excellent here, the salds are nutrititous, and the rice is out-of-this-world. The male waiter with the short blond hair is very professional and accomodating. He knows the menu well and will make recommendations. The owner (the gentleman with glasses, I believe) is also great at refilling drinks. This is good ,healthy fare at extremely reasonable prices, and you feel like a king when your chicken and rice dish is brought to you on a silver platter. You will not find better rice in Lexington, unless you prefer the fluffy white rice they serve at Chinese restaurants. Anyone who knows me knows that I like independent restaurants. This is a true win in Lexington. Parking can be tight, especially at dinner, when crowds flock to the insipid pizzeria next door or Josie's, which is better.. They take all credit cards. Dinner will be about 13.00 per person without a drink. Now an update: as of late 2012, this place continues to have good service and food. The rice is out of this world, and the prices are still reasonable. I do like the buffet at lunch, but I think the food temperatures need to be checked as some items seemed warm(not hot) on last visit. Repeat customers are treated well here, and I think that makes good sense. The clientele is interesting, too. The customers reflect the diversity of Lexington that you won't see at, say, Josies.

Oasis for the win. Seriously. This is my go-to restaurant. I go here for lunch any day I have exams. They have seriously good and seriously healthy food. I could make a meal just out of the cold salad varieties they have on the lunch buffet. Treat yourself to some delicious Mediterranean food at Oasis!

Sat for a good ten minutes before a waiter could be flagged down to take our order. Not sure in a 1/2 empty place why...

I ate here on a cold friday night. I shared an Oasis platter and we had more food than two people could eat. The service was excellent. A favorite part of the platter was the Fatoush salad. The toasted and crunchy pita pieces were awesome!

  • Cherlynn S.

By far the best Mediterranean in town. It is actually one of our favorite places to eat in all of Lexington. We always get the Oasis platter for 2, as it gives you a great variety, and then there is always more than enough for lunch the next day. On top of all of this, I can't say enough good things about the staff! They are always super friendly, attentive and they know our order by heart when we sit down.

    (5)
  • D M.

Food was okay buy the service really killed it. I came on here by myself and apparently they serve the tables that are more full. I never got any refills and never was checked on after I got my food. Dont come here if you arent in a group.

  • Pam C.

Easily the best Mediterranean food I've had all year. My boyfriend and I shared the Oasis Platter ($25.95) and it was a delicious mix of meats and I love their garlic sauce. My date doesn't really like hummus but enjoyed their version and the lentil soup. I've had better hummus elsewhere but everything else made up for it. My only complaint is they're only open until 9pm even on the weekends but apparently this is a reoccurring theme for most locally owned establishments in Lexington. I'll be back and it'll probably be this weekend for their buffet!

  • Jeff W.

Thank you Yelp for clueing me in to this very excellent Mediterranean fare in the most unlikely of places - a strip mall in the middle of Lexington. Buffet style at lunch - take a small sample of everything and save room - you will be going back for seconds. The meats were moist and flavorful, but a carnivore like me could make an entire meal out of the vegetarian dishes and not even realize I hadn't had my daily dose of flesh.
