First time to a Mellow mushroom and loved it. Our server was amazing and totally entertained my 2.5 year old son. I wish I could remember our servers name because I would recommend and ask for him again. Our pineapple, ham, mushroom and green olive pizza was epic. I cannot wait to go back again.

I begin every pizza Yelp review the same way. I state I'm from Chicago and am accustomed to the best pizza in America (it's not from New York. Trust me, the best is NOT from New York, but I digress). Whenever I write a Yelp pizza review, I compare the food I'm eating to the great pizzas of Chicago (Giordano's, Lou Malnati's, etc). Overall, this pizza is not bad. I called for an order for pick-up. The lady sounded like she was in a big rush, and the background sounded like people screaming at the New York Stock Exchange. I wish I had more of a personal experience on the phone, but nonetheless, I'm sure she was busy. I had the Bleu Bayou which was thick, loaded, and tasty. The crust wasn't overwhelming, and there was a good ratio of toppings, cheese, and crust. This place had a wide variety of non-traditional pizzas (which seem to be all the rage here in KY), and after my first pie, I'd be willing to try other specialty pizzas here. I picked up my pizza way later than expected, but it was still warm and tasted fresh. The man at the front hooked me up with plates and napkins. Parking wasn't horrible. I found a street spot 2 blocks away. The main thing keeping me from coming here often (besides caloric intake) and giving this place 5 stars is the price. I paid nearly $15 for a small pizza. It came to 4 slices and looked around the same size as a cheap frozen pizza from the grocery store. There were a lot of toppings and fresh ingredients that make this way better than a cheap frozen pizza, but $15 for that size of pizza is still a lot of money. A dine-in experience for two could easily add up to $35+ after tip, drinks, and a bigger pizza. People told me I had to try this place, and I'm glad I did. Mellow Mushroom has amazing specialty pizzas, just make sure you have a good amount of money on-hand.

Less than impressed. We were seated right away. There were only a handful of tables occupied. Saturday mid afternoon wasn't very busy. But we sat at the table for over 5 minutes before anyone greeted us or brought water. It had been so hot and humid that day we were dying for water. The young man who waited on us was nice in a valley girl kind of way. He tried to up sell us into appetizers but honestly we waited so long for someone to actually come by the table we were ready to order. The food was decent. My husband had their house calzone and liked it. I thought it bland. I had the chicken Caesar salad which was huge! But it's hard to screw up a salad and was good. Bottom line- service was 3/5 and food about the same. It's close to campus so I guess we weren't their target audience. :/

Decided to have dinner here after learning of their "Steal the Pint" promotion via LexBeerScene.com ! Tried the West Sixth Octoberfest brew and kept the glass for $1. Enjoyed the beer and decided to try their Magic Mushroom Soup along with a pizza with nontraditional sauce. We ordered the Gourmet White and added Pepperoni. The soup was pure perfection and I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of mushrooms! As for the pizza we loved the olive oil and garlic base along with the cheeses, onions, and both sun-dried and Roma tomatoes. The pepperoni we added was just the right complement, and as for the crust we loved the texture and taste! This restaurant isn't just for the college crowd. Please don't overlook this gem!

Great chain pizza place located near UK campus. It was really busy for a Wednesday night so we sat outside. Service was excellent. The Thoroughbred drink was so amazing I had to have two. The gluten free pizza is always great. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, the multitude of homeless and mentally ill people hovering over our table throughout the meal. That was pretty sad. You can always get the pizza to go.

I have had many pizzas in my life and this is the best I have had yet. Go safe for first visit and get the House Special. It's the supreme style.

Went to mellow. Expected run of the mill. But food was great. Topped off with the great service. Not only was my server great and exceptionally attentive. The manager Jason Hammond made sure the entire dining experience was complete. It is good see in a sea of restaurants in Lexington.

The server was nice but she was very inexperienced and we ordered 3 pizzas. One mighty meaty, one cheese & one house special. The mighty meaty pizza arrived with RAW bacon! That's mellow Nasty! The other two pizzas were good & the bacon on the house special was cooked perfectly. The only RAW bacon was on the mighty meaty pizza! Our server showed her inexperience and did nothing about it. Her response was ( "a long pause & then asked me if I wanted more bacon"). I don't trust the kids at this place to remake me a new pizza for fear of what they might do to it!

Generous 3 stars, had jerk wings, smothered in a sauce that lacked flavor and substance, like eating a wet rag, pizza was good but again disappointed, by the fact the cheese was dry, no fat content, therefore no flavor, have been to many mellow mushrooms, This one fell way short. Service was great, beer cold, needs work.

We really enjoyed the pizza and the staff was very friendly. I didn't realize there would be so many options! We had the Bluegrass High (off the 'Unique to our mellow location' menu) and it's been a while since I've had pizza that good! Apparently dessert is tasty too but we were too stuffed to eat anything else. Why the four, not five stars you ask? It's loud. Louder than I prefer. Don't get me wrong, I loved the music selection, I just need to be able to hear my dinner date & speak without shouting. It didn't help that the large group of twenty-something's next to us were roaring in conversation. There are televisions mounted at many prime locations too. Sensory Overload!

I've been to a Mellow Mushroom on vacation, but this was my first visit to the Lexington location. I went on a Saturday night with friends. The atmosphere was lively. The restaurant felt cozy on a cold winter's day. Our server was fun and friendly. He didn't write down our order (which always makes me nervous) but he got all of the orders right for our party of 6. Many of my friends were excited about the gluten free options. There were two vegans in the group who found many options they liked there as well. I got the Mega Veggie pizza which was topped with just about every vegetable imaginable. It was very good and came out quickly. They had a nice beer selection. A lot of the other pizzas looked pretty yummy. My friend had hers topped with pesto. It was just what you would want a pizza joint to be and a good place for groups. I will be back.

Stopped by while in town on 5/8 for the first day of Lexington Craft Beer Week. Convenient location right off the UK campus with plenty of street parking. Place is rather small. It appears to be an old converted house. They have packed the place with tables though and have made the most of their space. The place was completely packed whe we got there and we had to share a larger table with an older couple because there was literally no where else to seat us. Smaller craft beer tap list of about 8 to 10 beers, mostly standard fair and a few local breweries beers that are available pretty much everywhere. Fairly large bottle list though. We ordered a large cheese pizza and it was delicious! I love Mellow Mushroom's pizza! Garlicky buttery crust! Our server was excellent and was checking on us every time she passed even though they were slammed. Great atmosphere of psychedelics, classic rock, and UK stuff with several fairly large tvs showing a few different sports, (Stanley Cup playoffs and NBA playoffs when I was there), while playing a lot of classic rock tunes. Amazing pizza, fun place!

Love the mellow mushroom! Great pizza! 5 stars for the Kosmic karma Pizza and the funky Q Chicken pizza ! They have several specialty pizzas and build your own style as well. The dough is the perfect thickness. Other items on the menu such as sandwiches , but I have only tried the pizza and pretzels. Oh! The pretzels! Made fresh to order. Garlic Parmesan for an appetizer and you gotta finish off your meal with the dessert pretzels.... So delicious smothered in cinnamon sugar and honey . They have a full bar and great local beer selection. They also mix up the perfect margarita ! The restaurant has a cool eclectic vibe. Excellent Staff! They are always friendly and helpful. If you are looking for good food especially pizza ( not your typical italian joint) and a cool dining experience ... This is the place for you!

Tasty pizza, fun atmosphere. It can get crowded but tables seemed to move pretty quickly. The bartender and servers were friendly. Manager made his way around to tables checking on patrons.

This place is amazing. Such a fun chill laid back atmosphere. It brings me back to my Boulder hippy roots. Everything is delicious. My favorite is the Holy Shiitake pie.

Surprisingly good pizza, ice cold local & specialty beers on tap. No wonder they have restaurants in college towns all over the Midwest!

I'm always a fan of Mellow Mushroom! It doesn't matter if it's in Atlanta, Winter Park, FL or on University of Lexington's campus. Delicious and always consistent. I'm a fan of the calzone with artichoke hearts and black olives. Always a great pick!

  • Olwen C.

Mellow Mushroom is a great place to go for pizza and beer, or even a salad, or calzone. I like the Greek salad. I was also really impressed by the variety of beer they have on tap. It's a great place to go just for a drink. The bar area is a little bit cramped, though, and I've had to wait a long time for a table during busy hours. I'm not sure how often they do karaoke now, but I've done that here in the past as well, and it was fun.

  • Brian W.

Food here is great. Pizza crust is great! Many unique pizzas. My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Hummus appetizer is as good as any Mediterranean restaurant in town. Sandwiches are top notch and huge! Basically the best pizza in town.

I know Mellow Mushroom isn't quite the quaint local pizza place you like to brag about as being a best kept secret, but I love this place. I hate to try to say which pizza joint is my favorite because there are so many different types of pizza in the world, but this place is definitely in top 3 I've had. Their dough is just crazy good. Their creativity for toppings is also great. They have a very good beer selection with brews on tap ranging from local, to national to international.

  • Michelle R.

Great pizza and pretzels! The crust on their pizza is second to none. Unique pizza menu and lots if options for build your own. It's packed on the weekends so best to go during the week if you don't want to wait. Get the cinnamon honey pretzels for dessert!

Located conveniently to downtown Lexington and the University of Kentucky campus, Mellow Mushroom is revered in Lexington for their pizza offerings--and rightfully so--but did you know they also serve fantastic hoagies? Should you not be in the mood for pizza (it happens), try a hoagie. My favorite is the Jerk Chicken Hoagie. It is a delightful blend of grilled Jerk chicken, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, pineapples, Roma tomatoes, spinach, and feta, served with pesto mayo. It is served warm on your choice of three breads. I chose the French bread as the perfect compliment and the "whole" is certain to satisfy even the heartiest of appetites. My only disappointment is that Mellow Mushroom serves their hoagies a la carte. Chips add an additional $1.95 to the price. At $8.95, I would prefer that the chips be included which would then make this terrific sandwich a "must" for lunch or dinner. Mellow Mushroom offers inside and outside dining (weather permitting) and a fun atmosphere with a friendly staff, but occasionally the noise level inside the restaurant hampers a normal level of conversation. Whether you choose from the variety of always perfect pizzas or any of the other items on the Mellow Mushroom menu, you can't go wrong when you want a casual, worth-the-trip dining experience.

Great pizza! Love the Holy Shiitake Pie and the decor is awesome. Got mine to go but looks like a great place to sit and eat if you can beat the crowds. The only downside is its hard to find if you dont know Lexington that well and dont have a GPS and the parking lot is small for the big business they do.

  • Kris R.

Mellow Mushroom is fantastic! The pizza is the best in town and the pretzels are second to none. The service is always great and the beer selection is solid. One of my favorite spots in Lexington.

Mellow Mushroom is one of our favorite places to eat in Lexington. The atmosphere is funky and fun, the food is great and the service is wonderful. The tables are a little cramped in small rooms that can fill up fast, so I definitely recommend a booth on busy days. The food is all good, but my favorites are the holy shiitake pie and the doughnuts (that they only have on the weekends for some reason!). My boyfriend is a meat-eater and I'm a vegetarian, and the holy shiitake pizza makes both of us very happy. The staff is all great, but Caitlyn is the best waitress in the place. She's friendly and very knowledgeable. We ask to be seated in her section every time we eat there. My boyfriend even trusts her to pick new beers for him and she never lets him down. Great place, great people, excellent food!

Best pizza in Lexington!! My favorite is the mellowterranean, but seriously, it's ALL good. Great salads and hoagies too and I love, love, LOVE the hummus!!

C'mon it's Mellow Mushroom!!! I absolutely love their pizza! And I am not a pizza fan. Why can't other pizza places use toppings? Mellow Mushroom always stacks my pizza high with fresh toppings and they always come to the table perfect. Always the best pizza in any town.

I think it's the best pizza we've had. The pizza is very creatively made and we love being able to watch them cook it right after ordering. We ordered a Bruschetta as an appetizer which had the right amount of crunch and tasted great. I had the Mushroom pizza, I think it was called Holy Shiitake Pie or something and it was just perfect. My husband got the Meaty Pizza that was just covered in meat and he said it was fantastic. The waitress was awesome, making sure our drinks were full while not pressuring us to make an order. I love the ambiance of the room, very relaxed and fun. Many great designs everywhere. We loved this place and cannot wait to come back.

Great food! The calzones are so yummy-the best dough I've ever tried. Their red sauce is on the sweet side and very good. The drinks are also delicious.

Awesome! I feel I know pizza and this was the best crust I have ever had. If you like hot dough pretzels, you will love this crust. Can' t wait to go back with a good appitite. I am stuffed!

Lexington has terrible pizza generally. Mellow Mushroom is a chain, but it's a solid one and heads above the rest of pizza in this town. Don't go anywhere else. If you are satisfied with less, you shouldn't be eating pizza from a restaurant. Just get it at Kroger and save yourself half the cost.

One of the very few places with gluten free pizza and they taste great too! I love that they have Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale on draft, yum :-)

Best pizza ever! I always eat Mellow Mushroom pizza when I travel, and this one is just as delicous as the last. Amazing and flavorful sauces and toppings and of course always amazing crust. Their wings are in my top 5 list. I love the sweet chili sauce. Fast service and great quality food.

If going during happy hour, you really cannot beat the price. I do, however, prefer other local pizza places in town over this chain. They do have different selections like the Caesar salad pizza, which is tasty!

Happened to try this place on a whim as I was walking by for lunch. First time there and sat at the bar. Had the Curry pizza which was really good. Good flavors very different from your typical pizza. Will definitely be back.

Not a big Yelp reviewer but had an experience that I thought I'd share to save anyone else's time in contacting this location to accommodate a large party. We've got about 20 adults, including myself, traveling to Lexington for a weekend celebration. We were trying to find a spot that was walking distance from our hotel. We've got some celiac folks in the group, and being unfamiliar with Lexington dining options, thought Mellow Mushroom would be a safe bet. We are fans of the chain. Kate informed me just now that they do not accommodate reservations or large groups. Suggested that I make the journey a few minutes early in person, to see "what they could do." (Like I would parade 20 people to Mellow Mushroom to wait for "what they could do.") She added that if they would put a table together for 20 people, that would be half of their dining room. I didn't realize that 20 guaranteed hungry, thirsty customers would be a bad thing, but apparently so. And not sure why I'm being told to come see "what they could do" when I'm being told in the same breath, that they wouldn't accommodate us anyway. Needless to say, we will be finding another dining option in Lexington for this Saturday night.

I cannot take my mother anywhere anymore without her asking "Is there a mellow mushroom?" So we ended up here, chowing down in another city, in another MM. This time I got my sister to try something other than plain cheese, and we all tried a bite of each other's food. The potato skin pizza is a little....strange, but very good. Reheats well too. Also, I really appreciate the waitress just bringing us a pitcher of water: after walking around all day we really needed it!

  • Abigail C.

It was okay. The service at this location was particularly slow (in their defense, it was a busy night when I ate there). Trivia night can be extremely loud and I found it difficult to hear the person sitting right next to me. The food options were really interesting and is something I would come back to explore more. The food quality is to be expected from a pizza place (greasy, yet sinfully delicious...). Cool atmosphere.

Thanks Yelp Reviewers for another great recommendation! Got into town from Chicago, first time to Lexington with no clue where to eat. Your reviews were spot on. Whole family loved it! Hoagie, cheese pizza and Mighty Meat pizza. Delicious!

We stopped in Lexington driving home from Tennessee specifically for lunch at Mellow Mushroom, and it was well worth the short detour. Started with a couple of nice draft beers and a half order of the amazing parmesan pretzels. I thought I'd tried every variation on garlic knots/parmesan bread but these pretzels are truly special. Knowing there are other Mellow Mushroom locations in the region, we wanted to order one of the pizzas unique to Lexington. This, by the way, is a great idea for any chain trying to maintain some "local" flavor or keep people interested in visiting various locations. We went with the jerk chicken pizza (can't remember the name), changing out the pesto for red sauce. Another delicious surprise! I love specialty pizza and have had a lot of flavor combinations, but the combo of jerk chicken, sausage, bacon, onion, great red sauce and perfect crust was totally new to me. Added bonus, the left overs reheated excellently!

Really friendly staff, wide selection of beers, and neat atmosphere. My only complaint was that the pizza was a little soggy but otherwise it was quite yummy! Parking is right behind the building.

Possibly the WORST pizza I've EVER had! I went only because it's one of the very few places in Lexington on my airline miles dining account. OFF my list!

Mellow Mushroom is my favorite pizza place. The Greek salad is delicious and every pizza I've had has been great. Very fresh tasting. The stuffed portobello appetizer is large enough for a meal. The service is usually fast.

Mellow Mush is always so good. The waitstaff is always really pleasant and the atmosphere is so chill. Plenty of TVs at the bar, so you can watch just about anything you please (within reason--sports). I got the funky q chicken this time, and last, as a calzone and it was delicious. The pretzels were extremely good as well. Hard to go wrong here.

Great unique pizza! If you're tired of the "big chains" pizza this is a great place to go. We always like going here for dinner. Great for people watching, and always busy. Which is nice, feels like you actually live in a city atmosphere. Large selection of items to choose from the menu. A nice selection of domestic and import beers. Trivia on Wednesday night. Will say however that you will be there with the underage out for the night. Weekends may need to wait.

Went in since I had a Gift certificate and wasn't disappointed by the service or the food after having the baked wings . I think everyone in this entire place was friendly and came up to thank me for coming in and tell me about upcoming specials and events. I wasn't really expecting this type of atmosphere . Keep up the nice work , it's nice to get good service it makes me want to continue to stay away from the chain restaurants

Now that's a pizza! Place looks like it should be in Berkeley California. Good friendly service too. Waiting is no problem, the decor will keep you entertained, I have been here several times during my trips to Lexington. Every time we get something different and I am always amazed at the combinations available and a little scared about trying them. Another thing AMAZING is how great they taste! I gave up on Pizza long ago because it was BORING. Mellow Mushroom has brought me back. Prices are competitive.

I may still be on a trip from the Magical Mystery Tour pizza I ate earlier, but either way, I'm feeling pretty darn happy with my selection of Magic Mushroom for dinner tonight. Something told me that tonight was a night for some seriously tubular pizza, and an early dinner proved to be the perfect antidote to a long week. My dining companion and I only had to wait about 3 minutes for a table as it was bussed; a good departure from the nights I remember waiting 30 minutes or more for someone to get off their pizza trip and stumble happily out the door. One taste of this stuff, though, and you see why people are so happy and just want to enjoy the moment with some pies with radical names. Service was relatively fast for a night of the week that Mellow Mushroom is typically slammed. Our drinks stayed filled, and - despite my ravenous appetite - the time from order to delivery of food was very acceptable. And the pizzas - fresh-tasting ingredients, chewy crusts of the perfect thickness, and cheese melted to a perfect crisp - make a trip to Mellow Mushroom one that delights the senses in a way that almost makes it seem like the ingredients should be regulated. I was full after about a slice, but kept shoveling food down the hatch in spite of myself. Totally worth it in the end. If you're passing through Lexington and want your own Magical Mystery Tour of the senses, have one at Mellow Mushroom. If your experience is half as gnarly as mine was, you are in for a good time!

First of all, i'm a pizza fan, Second - I'm an ARTISAN pizza fan. Mellow Mushroom satisfies on both fronts. The start by meeting you at the door (generally a granola/hippy greeter, which I'm ok with) and leading you to your table, which can be a blessing or a curse depending on the time of day/night (it can get CRAZY loud in there) Pick a booth, trust me, they're huge! You can watch the guys making your pizza if you get a seat on the left side of the building, which I always try and do. They also have a "Mellow Mushroom Beer Club" that lets you try all 100 beers they offer (I believe it's 100) which kept me going back there for (literally) years. Sadly I lost my card :( The menu is extensive, and they have clever little names for the pies, so make sure you read what is on the pizza first, but they're ALL delicious. Overall I would reccommend this place to your mother, grandmother, aunt, nephews and the second cousin once removed. It's some of the best artisan pizza in the country IMO. Check it out!

Funky fresh! Soon as I walked into this place I absolutely loved it. The positive energy of the staff, the random tree in the middle, the music & lively customers.. This place is great. When I got here, there was a guy on the mic & everyone was playing some sort of trivia game. Very interactive, everyone was having a great time. Perfect place to come with friends. I got the spinach salad, which was delicious. Ordered a pizza to go which I haven't eaten yet, but looks delicious as well!

  • Alyssa K.

SO GOOD! Their pizzas are great and the restaurant has a relaxed, hippy vibe - although their waiters do always seem a bit slow and high. Their menu has some awesome topping combinations. Our favorite is the magical mystery tour which is has a Pesto base with button and Portobello mushrooms, feta and mozzarella cheeses, spinach and jalapeños on a pesto basted crust. Their pizzas never seem overly greasy like most other pizza places and my favorite part about their pizzas is that they used unbleached whole wheat flour dough and that they bake their pizzas in a brick oven. delish! Oh! And my husband's favorite part of this place is their bar and its wide selection of cold craft beers - good pizza and good beer, what a great combo!

1 For Service 4 For Food Taste 4 For Value vs Food Quality Wings were a 5 in my books. Bruschetta was a 3. Pizza (made my own): Red Sauce Base, Mozzarella, Mushrooms, Green Peppers, Onions and STEAK! - Overall Pizza 4 But you can't just have decent food coupled with crappy, really crappy service. Your luck will eventually run out or maybe not if your only business is a bunch if college kids in this UK College Town.

Yum, yum, yum! I've been here twice in the past month and it's been delicious both times. The first time I had a pesto type pizza and sampled my boyfriend's holy shitake pizza; both good pizzas but the pesto one didn't warm over so well the next day. The second time we shared a greek salad (I LOVE the dressing) and a holy shitake pizza; still all delicious.

My favorite place to eat when visiting Lexington. There are so many veggie options, whether you want a sandwich or a pizza. The beer list is well-rounded, and if you're staying sober, the bottles of root beer are delicious. Great staff, fun atmosphere, and a huge variety of patrons. Lots of families with kids, older couples, college students, and many others. Any place that has a gigantic smiling trippy mushroom statue in the middle of the room is gonna be alright. Mellow Mushroom goes way beyond "alright."

  • Ernie D.

This review might be kind of biased, as I personally think they have the most delicious pizza I have tasted, at least here in Kentucky, and I am in love with it. The many different varieties they offer means that everyone can get something they like (even the veggies in your group) and the salads are top notch. Also, if you like beer in any way, then you will definitely have a good time as they have an enormous selection and more than 20 beers on tap. I used to go there during my drinking heydays and would always find something different to drink down all night. They aren't necessarily cheap, but for the quality of food you receive I think the prices are more than justified. Also, the atmosphere is hard to grasp at first; is it a family place? a college place? a place for hippies? Eventually, you realize it kind of works for all the different crowds, and I think that is pretty smart as well.

Great Pizza! Great atmosphere. Super friendly staff. Clean. And the art, everywhere, is amazing! The prices are reasonable. If you haven't been, and want to ENJOY your meal - visit.

Pizza at Mellow Mushroom has always been hit or miss for me. The first time I ate there, I thought it was great, and was excited to go back again. The second time, my pizza crust was so limp that it just flopped over when I picked it up, so I had to use *gasp!* a fork and a knife to eat it. Tonight, however, was different. I had the Kentucky Hillbilly, and it was delicious. The crust was perfect and the toppings were spread out perfectly. I wanted to eat the entire thing in one sitting, but I forced myself to save half for tomorrow. The staff here have always been very nice and have always gotten my order correct. The pizzas are a little pricy, but when the pizza is as good as mine was tonight, it's definitely worth it.

Two words - Holy Shitake! That's all. One of the BEST pizza's we've ever had. The caramelized onions blended with the shitake mushrooms awesome. The Aioli sauce drizzled on top finishes off the pie perfectly. We'll be back again when visiting Lexington. Hopefully they will expand into Michigan :)

Their house pizza must be illegal, because nothing legal can taste this good....

Been there twice. The first time got calzones that were pretty good. Overpriced, but a standard good calzone, nothing above and beyond the expected. The second time I called in to get a pizza to pick up in about an hour. Stopped in and picked it up, and when I got home to my dismay the pizza was totally soggy and lukewarm. I'm pretty sure that even though I gave them an exact time for pickup they cooked it right when I called, and then in the meantime it just sat there. Overall would have maybe been a three star rating but since it's overpriced I knocked another star off. Don't bother, walk across the street to Pazzo's for better food and atmosphere.

We had the mega veggie, traded tofu and broccoli for ham and went with olive oil and garlic over the red sauce. Delicious! We were there before Taylor swift concert so very busy with screaming girls. Can't wait to go again without the boisterous fans. Glad my daughter is grown.

Great pizza. The crust appears to be whole wheat, but you can not tell by how good it tastes. Not globbed with cheese so many of the other flavors are able to come out. Their pesto sauce is wonderful!

John and his team took great care of us. Food as usual was great!

Great stoned service and amazing pizza. Beer selection is super rad for a pizza place. It's pretty loud and obnoxious sometimes but no biggie. Outdoor seating is limited. Pricing is pretty fair for the quality. I go here often for a pesto, basil. Garlic, portabella and tomato pizza. Custom, tell you what.

Awesome pizza and sandwiches but the service is a bit slow. I'm thinking that the staff is usually high. They have messed up our to-go orders more than once so check your food before you leave. But I have to say that their pizza dough is excellent!

The Meat Lovers and the Thai chicken pizzas are outstanding. Great beer selection, also. The parmesan pretzels appetizer are habit forming.

I've never been disappointed by Mellow Mushroom (anywhere). The pizza and sandwiches I've had are always good. The garlic parmesan soft pretzels are a must, and I love being able to "build" my own salad. They have a good beer selection, too. :)

I like a place with a good amount of attitude - but only if they can pull it off. This place can. It's full of young people from the UK campus next door and around downtown, so there's little complaint about the barely attentive service. They bring you a good beer and a fabulous, made-to-order pizza and then go back to ignoring you and watching the UK game. Works for me! Always packed with a good crowd that's fun to talk to. BTW, we once ordered a $45 pizza loaded with custom toppings - it was worth it, and I am CHEAP. Doesn't happen often.

bland, lukewarm pizza has alienated me away from most pizza, but after some convincing, i gave in to ordering a few pizzas for my debate team last night. i was very pleasantly surprised. the dough was light and perfectly chewy! simple pizzas like pepperoni and mushroom were delicious (a little light on the pepp, but oh well). really enjoyed the shitakke surprise. the garlic sauce was really nicely balanced without being overwhelmingly garlic-y, and everything blended well. definitely first on my list for pizza when i visit lex.

My friend and I stopped by for dinner. We had a wonderful time and the food was delicious. The service was very prompt. I like that the pizza choices were unique and that I chose something slightly outside my comfort zone. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to someone not afraid to try new things.

Excellent, kitchy food and atmosphere. Wonderful soft & chewy crust- and this coming from a native Chicagoan, I loved this pizza! We enjoyed the blue grass high- a type of Mediterranean chicken pizza. Divine! The salads are also bountiful, fresh, and large. They keep the massive glasses of soda/tea/water (whatever) coming and service is casual cool attentive. The menu is extensive while also being highly health-conscious. Well done. No complaints to think of. Not fine dining, but you wouldn't expect that walking through the door.

I can't believe no one's reviewed this place yet! I was ecstatic when I found out there was a Mellow in Lexington. My only experience was with the one in Asheville and Boone, NC. They've got a decent sized menu with some pretty good specialty pies. I'd reccommend the Kosmic Karma if you're into feta and pesto at all. Their hoagies are good if you're not hungry for a full pizza. They've also got 70+ bottles of beer, and 20 or so beers on tap, including Kentucky Ale. You can't go wrong with that! They're right across from the UK campus, so you have to deal with rowdy college kids, but really, Mellow attracts all kinds of crowds. And who says college kids aren't fun, anyhow?

First visit to Mellow Mushroom did not disappoint. The stuffed portabella app was great and the pizza was very good too. We chose the karma pizza. The crust was doughy and crispy which is a nice combo and the sauce was very good as well. As others have said, they have a large and great beer selection. We will be back next time we are in Lexington.

It's like pizza on acid! Love it! Great beer selection. Great non-tradition pizzas. Came here on a date despite hearing the knock being their service. We were there on a busy Friday night and I felt like the service was just ducky. Only complaint is that this franchise isn't everywhere.

They don't deliver. So, whoever said they deliver is a liar. The 1 star is for being lied to.

Only been here once but it was very good. A little pricy in my opinion but the pizza was great. The atmosphere was fun as well. It's a great place to go for a pizza whether it be traditional or the most exotic you can think of. They've got it all!

I love this place! Especially when it's warm enough to sit outside delicious food and great beer selection as well. Make sure to try to the bruschetta appetizer...amazing!

Had a GREAT lunch. The Ky Hillbilly was a great pizza: lots of toppings, but not so many as to destroy the integrity of the pie. Service (Madelyn) was great.

Best pizza crust in the area. Their Greek salad (and dressing) is a wonderful compliment to any of their delicious pizzas.

Many good choices of sandwiches, salads, and pizza even for a vegetarian. THE most amazing offering is the pretzels. They're worth the made-to-order wait.
