Hotel manager recommended the diner for brunch during our visit. As you know, there are times during travel that you experience that dragging sort of feeling from running around. Our family dragged in and were welcomed by the most cheerful individual named Susie Q! Between Susie's delightful and attentive care and Anna, the manager's, dances to the tunes of the Righteous Brothers, Louis Armstrong, etc. while she delivered food and rang people up to the delicious plates put in front of us..well, all we can say is that we pranced out of there. The atmosphere is addictively friendly and goes beyond the usual care for a customer. Customers were greeted with hugs and smiles and called by name. The food was delicious and had the feel of handed down recipes that were allowed to be shared and combined with someone's imagination that had skills. We will make a point of visiting each time we come to visit and that is often. Chocolate covered strawberry French toast, bourbon cream French toast, wagyu beef topped on top of pimento cheese and then layered with a fried green tomato and chowchow, all on what I think was brioche? What can you say besides oh goodness!

I'm on vacation and had to come twice, once for breakfast and then lunch. After eating so much down home food, it was great to find a farm to table restaurant where food was fresh, creatively made and presented. AND they also have the traditional fare if you like a "hot brown" or "biscuits n gravy". I absolutely recommend!

very clean when you walk in. we were greeted by a very friendly server. The Diner burgers very juicy and huge, carmelized onions. The chips vere very crispy..My grandson had the kiddie burger, boy if thats the kiddie burger than it would fill me up, The food came out very fast.

Had an early lunch there. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff. The lunch menu was pretty basic by sticking to burgers, salads, and wraps. What they do offer though they do right. I had the southern burger with pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes. It was delicious and did not fall apart. My friend got the taco salad. The only conversation while we ate was about how our food was so good! Two thumbs up for the food and service!

Stopped by for brunch. Staff was nice, let us sit forever outside and we had a good time. I was a bit underwhelmed by the French toast. Great idea needed a lot more egg sopped into the bread. Gouda omlet was again nice concept. It needs a lot more cheese. I'd even pay extra for more cheese. Lastly cheesy grits could be better with melted and mixed in cheese. I had a previous stop for burger week, the staff are awesome and the burger was on point. Maybe we'll stick to dinner and be happier.

Lexington Diner is one of the best breakfast spots in the downtown area. Be sure to check out the breakfast brown--a delightful breakfast twist on an old Kentucky classic. The restaurant is rather small, so expect a little wait if you hit it on a Saturday or Sunday morning. I've spent a fair amount of time in NYC, and this is the closest any Lexington restaurant gets to matching a NYC-style diner. My only minor complaint is that service can be a little slow, so don't expect a quick in-and-out. But if you're up for a nice breakfast made with locally-sourced ingredients, this is your place.

I went here a few weeks ago with a couple of friends and we went during brunch hour. Their food looked delicious. I got the biscuits and gravy with a side of eggs. The biscuits were really good and the gravy was great but there was not enough gravy at all for two biscuits cut in half. There was barely enough for one. The eggs were also super runny for my taste and I got them scrambled. Next time I think I'm going to get the veggie omelette that my friend had because it looked amazing.

The Lexington Diner never ceases to amaze me. The food is always superb, not only in taste, but in the inventiveness. For example, where else could you find Dr Pepper Glazed Ribs, or a sandwich, that has Pulled Pork, Fried Pork Belly, and Bacon? :-) Breakfast is always delicious too. My favorite meal there however is breakfast. I love the selection of French Toast, ranging from the classic, to Peaches and Cream, which is insanely good. The staff is always really friendly, and are just fun people. One other thing, They also do great catering. I have used them several times for important events, and they always come through.

Went for lunch and got in and out rather quickly. Service is quick and the place is about as rudimentary a diner should be. They have some interesting stuff on the menu; I was convinced to try the Bourbon BBQ burger after being told it was Waygu (for $9.99?) and had won several awards and was told it was the best in town. Got the potato salad for the side, as I loved it at Natasha's when the chef was at that location. The person with me got the BLT. Overall, the potato salad remained as awesome as ever. The burger however...wasn't up to snuff. I wasn't too happy with being forced to have it prepared medium well, but the staff insisted they weren't allowed to prepare a burger less than that. That's a shame. The BBQ sauce wasn't anything to write home about, but it certainly wasn't bad. I subbed cheddar for ghost jack...but I'm not into spicy. I felt the burger, due to the cooking, wasn't anything special and could have easily been swapped out for one of those pre-made Kroger patties. The flavor was entirely dependent on the additions...and they weren't anything to really get me excited. A case, perhaps, of too much hype. It wasn't a bad burger, but it was nowhere near 'best in town.' I do look forward to checking out the breakfast and getting more and more of that amazingly delicious potato salad. The BLT was decent, I was told. Nothing special, but nothing bad.

I wanted to really like this place after reading all the great reviews but I can not honestly give this place more than 2 Stars. There were 4 of us the meals were good to not so hot. Burger I had was good but not great. Chorizo bowl was good the hot brown omeletes we ordered 2 were just no more than average very little flavor and little mornay sauce on either. The home fries were very good. Now for what I consider unforgivable we asked about desserts and were told by 2 different servers that they were made by a well respected local bakery for them. The desserts were good but on the way to the restroom I look into a glass door refrigerator there are the boxes for the desserts and they were not from where we were told but from a foodservice distributor part of a line of desserts. This was very disappointing you should never tell your customers a lie. If the servers didn't know then that's on the owners if they knew it wasn't homemade at the place it was represented then that is terrible.

I was excited about Lexington Diner - until we went for lunch. While the breakfast is pretty good, our lunch today was a huge disappointment (breakfast was a four, lunch was a two, so I am averaging it out to three stars). The Farmstead Salad, which is supposed to come on a bed of "mixed greens," was a plate full of cheap, flavorless iceberg lettuce. The ham and turkey was simply sliced up deli meat. The salad was ordered without cheese and with chicken added - it was delivered with cheese and without chicken. The best thing about the shrimp and fried grits po boy was the fried grits. But there was nowhere near enough to save the dish. Also, a po boy isn't supposed to be served like a regular sandwich with bread on top and bread on the bottom - that lets all the filling fall out. It should be a roll that is not sliced all the way through. So, it was pretty impossible to eat. Finally, it was just bland and sad. We were so bummed to have such a poor experience on our second visit. We would never go back.

The Good: the food, the rotating menu, seasonal local items. The Bad: not being able to add sides to any menu item, not good descriptions of their menu items. The Rundown: at first glance you wouldn't think much of the Lexington Diner, but you would make a mistake on passing this place up. I got the Breakfast Brown which is egg, hollandaise, toast, bacon, tomato and chorizo. This is an amazing dish, and though it looks like it won't be enough food it is very rich and filling. The fried green tomatoes are under cooked, not tart enough, and the bread doesn't stick to the tomato at all, I was pretty disappointed by this one. Service there is nothing special, just people who are polite but it somewhat seems they just want to get through their shift. The Impression: all and all this place offers some delicious food, however not all of their menu items are created equal. They could use some work on their customer service and the ability for some a la carte.

We went for brunch and the croque madame was amazing! Unfortunately it was really busy and the waitress forgot to place our order and we ended up waiting for almost 45min for food. She apologized and gave us free dessert so it worked out.

When I move to Kentucky last summer we went to Thursday day live downtown. This was the first local place my family visited after relocating. I heard the breakfast was awesome so I decided to wait until I had it before I wrote a review. I'm a fan of downtown living so to eat a place with views of the hustle of downtown fascinates me. Unless you face the kitchen you get that in every seat. They also have an outdoor sidewalk seating area. However due to the construction of the high rise next door it's not the best right now. Give it a few months to a year and it's going to be awesome. I was very surprised by the limited menu choices for both dinner and breakfast. Both menus are a single page (one side). I later learned that you can customize each item so it seemed like more choices. Food wasn't bad if you can leave you traditional taste palette at home. Garlic cheese grits are far from traditional but quite tasty. My wife had cornbread hash. I am almost embarrassed to say she is a fan of canned corn beef. So real corn beef hash "wasn't" hash to her. Let's face it she isn't a foodie she is just good a picking great men. My daughter has the best home fries ever. So overall this place is wonderful for food. Now this is when I started removing stars. Professionalism. I'm all about free speech and people being allowed to be open but as a business owner certain conversation shouldn't happen in the work place. The cook made a comment to regular (i hope it was a local) about how much she hates the military. As a veterans my wife and l almost walked out. As a business manager I know what conversations shouldn't exist while on the clock. Regardless if it's appropriate to curse or share controversial topics at work is debatable. However you have to consider returning customers. I pick where and when to spend my hard earned money and when it's comes to taking my girls out to breakfast unfortunately that comment will resurface.

We ventured here today because of the great yelp reviews. Today must have been an off day because I was not impressed. I ordered a burger it had cheese, bacon, sautéed onions (not caramelized like the menu stated), and BBQ sauce (I think, there was barely any on there if it was at all) and the side was sweet potato fries. First, the burger was both dry and oily at the same time. The burger itself was dry and the bun was wet with oil. If there was bourbon BBQ sauce on it, I couldn't taste it. Then the sweet potato fries were cooked with skins on which seemed a bit odd and it made the fries a bit chewy. The fries also were cut in different shapes so some were overcooked. This wasn't the worst meal I've had in lexington, but I certainly wasn't impressed. Maybe it was an off day. It happens. I will try to go in during breakfast and try some things from that menu.

I was going to hold off on this review until I tried them again, but considering that everyone at my table had a less than favorable experience, I'm going to tell about my visit. Atmosphere: the diner was clean, the tables were large and not seated too closely to the next, the decorations on the wall were forgettable. It was freezing during my entire visit - and I don't get cold very easily. (Granted, I did visit on a cold day but we didn't sit by the door.) Service: it started off pretty good, We asked what was recommended and she raved about how good the burgers were, so my two dining companions ordered burgers. She came back once for refills, and failed to refill my glass but did get the other two at the table. It wasn't a busy time when we went so I don't know why we weren't given more attention; she was only waiting on us while two other waitresses tended to the other two occupied tables. Food: I ordered the Kentucky Hot Brown. It was described as toasted bread with thinly sliced turkey and ham, covered with Mornay sauce and Parmesan cheese, and topped with bacon and tomato. Okay, sounds great and it looked great (see the pic I took), but the taste was not good. The Mornay sauce separated, so there were oily spots and parts of it tasted heavily like raw flour, the ham was in big chunks and had rings of fat running through it, the turkey had a strange grilled flavor to it, and the bread was not toasted - it was soggy. I did not finish my dish, left feeling like I overpaid, and was still hungry. Conclusion: I feel like I need to give this place another try since there were a lot of positive reviews in the community about the food here. I hope that it was just an off day for everything, but I must admit I'm a bit skeptical. I'd like to go back for the breakfast service to see how that is, but I don't know when that will be. I'll review my experience again next time I go. For now, I can't recommend anything to anyone reading this. I just hope you have a better time than I did.

Smoked Gouda, bacon, shiitake mushroom omelette was Outstanding !!! Served with some of the best home fries ever. And their special today was off the chain!! Friendly service is an understatement. Thanks for the pleasant dinning experience! It was a great stop in the middle of a long journey.

In town visiting for a wedding. We found this place near our hotel and gave it a try. It was well worth it!! There were 6 of us and everyone loved the burger they got! The bourbon burger was a hit with our group. I got the special of the day, a Sadistic (hot sauce) chicken burger. It was amazing! The Sadistic sauce is spicy so if you have a weak mouth I recommend not attempting it. They also have mustard potato salad (which I love because I hate mayo). The other sides to choose from are kettle cooked chips (made in house) or coleslaw. No fries so if you are craving some fries look elsewhere. It's a small little diner, but they easily accommodated our group of 6. They have outdoor seating too. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a dynamite burger! They also have gluten free buns if that is your thing!

Tasty breakfast burrito and friendly service. I thought the cheesy grits were a little bland, but the burrito made up for them! We also found a few small pieces of egg shell in our burrito, but mistakes happen and our server was polite and apologetic about it. As a word of caution, we arrived 15 after they opened for brunch, and the restaurant was packed 10 minutes after that. Needless to say, our service was a little slow because it was so crowded, but we were not in a rush so this didn't particularly bother us.

I'm ashamed to say when I headed out for lunch today, we were not headed here. We just happened to park nearby and I said to my wife, "Hey, I've heard that the Lexington Diner is good." Her response: "Let's try it!" Not really one for spontaneity, I slowly agreed. I must say I thanked her later. Services was amazingly fast and responsive. I almost felt a friendliness usually reserved for family or close friends. The menu didn't have a ton of choices, but if the few things you make are made correctly, who am I to judge. While the variety of French toasts were very tempting (especially the tropical one), I had to go with the Breakfast Hot Brown. This thing was life changing. Perfectly scrambled eggs, spicy chorizo sausage, creamy rich sausage gravy, crispy bacon, and a single tomato slice all topped up on a piece of toast. If I had room to eat it again immediately, I would have. Go here and eat. Do it. Trust me on this.

Great! Excellent place to get brunch. I had the hot brown omelette and it was delicious. The sauce was the best part. I have also eaten here at lunch time and the burgers are great. Loved seeing them at CRAVE this year too. Great local place! Highly recommend.

After my last review, I said I would not go back here, but I am always willing to give a place a second or third try ... especially after one of the owners reached out and stated that they had addressed the problems. Let me just say, it was obvious. The food was incredible, as usual, but the service was a 180 from the last two times. I am happy to update my review from the last one. Lexington needs good places like the Lexington Diner.

Great option for laid-back downtown dining! I have tried them for both lunch and brunch and I came out happy each time. Lunch menu features several different options of wraps and burgers. If you are avoiding red-meat or any meat, you can instead get a "burger" with a grilled chicken or black bean burger. Their brunch menu seems to change often and features several classics including french toast and eggs benedict.. They have great, friendly servers to complete the experience. What doesn't make this a 5-star experience (yet) for me is that they haven't completely figured out how to handle the brunch crowd on Sundays. They don't seem to have a designated person to bus the tables, so each server is in charge of getting orders, checking on customers, bringing out the orders, clearing tables, and seating new customers.. Just a bit chaotic for such a small yet popular place! Hopefully once they get things straightened out, this place will become a downtown classic.

We decided to grab brunch today after the farmer's market this morning. I had eaten here for the first time on the 4th of July. I had the chipotle grilled chicken sandwich that day. It was good, but it ended up being too spicy for me as I am I picky on how much heat is one my food. I wouldn't let this alter your opinion if you try that sandwich. I'm just a wuss when he comes to that kind of stuff. This morning I had the chocolate Covered strawberry French toast. OMG!!' This was to die for! Picturesque too! My husband had the breakfast brown and it looked amazing and he said it was great. My daughter had biscuits and gravy with two sausage patties. She seemed to enjoy it too. Nice little place. They gave out frequent diner cards today too. When you visit 8 times you get the 9 free of 8.99 value. Nice addition to the downtown area!

Went in for Easter Brunch. They had a nice buffet set up in the back with a variety of different breakfast and lunch choices. The best part of the meal was the lobster bisque that they had on as the soup. Being that it was Easter we didn't have a chance to see or try the real breakfast menu, but will stop in on our next visit to Lexington to give it a try.

Creative creative let the food flow!! If you have not been here yet you gotta get in the car now!! Extremely good choices and a variable menu. So there's always something new to choose from. The sauces and cheeses OH MY! Friendly efficient service made the meal even more memorable. My meal was a Shrimp Bacon Mac and Cheese. The shrimp were done and seasoned perfectly. The Mac and cheese was a combo of three different cheeses. How can you go wrong with a topping of bacon. Go ahead look at my pic and see if you don't drool some!!!!

This is one of my "go-to" locations for weekend brunch. The staff is friendly and service is generally quick. Menu items are not overpriced, and portion sizes are huge! I've always enjoyed whatever I ordered, and I highly recommend whatever French toast concoction they have available. (Menu tends to change and rotate.) I highly recommend!

Stopped by for a quick lunch here shortly after getting into town. I got the Southern Charm burger with pimento cheese, a fried green tomato, and chow chow. I rarely get burgers, but this one was pretty good! Seemed like a good mix of locals popping in, and the service was very friendly.

They have week menu and weekend menu, I would recommend going for one of the specialities on the weekend menu: the hot brown, steak and eggs, one of the awesome French toast options. I had the Lexington Breakfast which is your basic sausage, eggs, toast, and home fries and my choice was what made it boring. I have been before for the week menu and liked it a better, the burrito and the breakfast sandwich were huge for the price and there was fresh fruit. The service was really fast and it was a good place for a morning catch-up. I would recommend coming here for a breakfast downtown across from the historic courthouse, farmers market, and supporting the couple who runs the place. It has a diner feel but no signature item, or at least that I have found yet. Maybe it is the French toast options, but I was in a savory mood.

I came here for a late breakfast (brunch) with a friend and my daughter. I was starving and wanted something meaty so I ordered the bourbon burger. It was absolutely heavenly. I love bourbon and I love BBQ sauce so it was right up my alley. I'll definitely be back for brunch again. Reasonably priced, good service, above average food...what more can you ask for in a diner?

An awesome little diner. Downtown Lexington is fiercely competitive over dining options downtown. There are all kinds of places of all sorts here. This is one of the best. They've got fast and attentive service, very good food, and a clean and pleasant environment. I've never had a bad meal there, and their desserts are made fresh. They even have an emphasis on using local ingredients when possible, and so many variant burgers with special toppings. If you're looking for an outstanding burger & fries-type place in the downtown area, you can't go wrong looking there.

  • Jason H.

This is a brand new diner that Lexington is fortunate to have downtown. The people are extremely friendly and inviting. My girlfriend had the black bean burger which was out of the Lexington (world) and I had the traditional diner fare which was the diner burger but substituted with chicken. Most of their dishes are made from scratch or affiliated with local growers/merchants. You will not find anything inorganic about this place. If I worked downtown Lexington everyday, I would probably have gained 1,000 pounds! That's how scrumptious this place is! If I had suggestions to make, it would be to re-consider the decor, maybe make it retro style and open up the diner during evenings! Thus, one star deduction. A lot of potential and this place is going to be epic if the pace keeps up.

My intention was to take pictures of what my husband and I ordered but that idea went out as soon as they brought our meals. I had the lamb burger special and my husband ordered the Gringo burger. OMG! Both burgers were amazingly good! The service was outstanding too. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful. They have a few dishes that we are curious about so we will definitely be coming back.

If you've never been here you should. My suggestion is to always ask for the special. Each day brings its own unique selection. You can never go wrong with the main menu either. This was my 2nd visit since moving here and this time with a few co-workers. The service and attention to detail was top notch. The wait staff was so nice & always on whenever you needed. I was just really impressed with this place. It will mostly likely be a main stay for me now.

Cozy and delicious. I had a garden omelette with a side of glazed apples at the Lexington Diner. It was made just right. Yum!! This diner is run with tender loving care. It's firing on all cylinders of great food, good location, a cozy setting and personable service. This little diner gets the fundamentals just right. It is worthy of a rare five star ranking.

Dear Lord. If I could eat everything on that menu every day for the rest of my life, I'd die a happy foodie. I'm partial to the Bourbon Beef Banh Mi and the spiced peach French Toast, but the daily specials? Damn. And the vegetarian options? Even better. Seriously, try everything. Lexington Diner answers the prayers of downtown foodies who don't want to be pretentious or wonder what they're really eating. Eat here now. Don't ask questions.

I seriously love this diner. It's clean, the location is killer...the staff is friendly and fun...and the food - whether you're in for breakfast, brunch or lunch..it's all fantastic. Everything I have becomes my new favorite, until I try the next thing. You can't go wrong with the burgers. Braised short ribs to die for. Super salads and crazy good French toast creations that are chef inspired..whatever she's feeling that day - and it's always mouth watering...and delightful.

Got the Western and it was tasty but extremely greasy. I don't want to sound all negative because I ate it all but next time will definitely ask for no oil, butter or whatever it was. I got the wheat toast which was AWESOME but the home fries was not done and still hard in the middle but they were thick and that sometimes happens even when I cook them.

I rarely give five-star reviews, but Lexington Diner is an exception. Lexington Diner is a great addition to downtown Lexington. It has an upscale look without being pretentious. The server was attentive and charming. I started with freshly brewed iced tea, then ordered an Inferno Burger Special accompanied by homemade mustard potato salad. The Inferno Burger was off-the-hook delicious. It was a perfectly cooked medium burger, inferno sauce, 5-alarm chili, and ghost pepper jack cheese. The burger was served on a wonderful butter-toasted bun, and to make things even better, it was topped with battered, deep fried jalapeño halves! It was marvelous, and definitely provided an endorphin rush. The mustard potato salad was also great, and a perfectly cooling foil to the incendiary burger. The tab for everything was $11.64, which wasn't bad, considering the excellent quality. On paying my check, I received a buy 9, get one free punchcard. Although I live 90 minutes from the Diner, I took the card and hope to fill it. Lexington Diner is that good!

First visit today. Cozy little place. Like having big windows to watch street scene. Servers were quite amiable. Prices are reasonable. Had the harvest salad for lunch -- greens, roasted butternut squash and beets, candied pecans with a honey balsamic dressing. I added chicken, which was a good thing, as it would not have satisfied me without the protein. (Personally, I would like to have seen some goat cheese in it.) My friend told me I had to return and have some "junk" food. She meant something like the lobster mac and cheese. Sounded good to me!

I guess the best title for this will be "Hollandaise and confused". Today I tried the steakhouse eggs benedict. The rich creaminess of the hollandaise sauce was outstanding. I must say the best I have ever had. You can tell that it was handmade because of the warmth that it gave your entire body. The richness and creaminess of the sauce made my tongue whisper "Don't swallow yet" to my stiffening throat muscles. They held fast as if they were pearched upon the edge of some magnificent cliff. Lets change gears........ The steak medallions were perfectly done pink in the middle, perfect. The eggs were also perfectly done and had just a little runny yellow in the middle. I choose the fried apples as my side item. I found them to be equally wonderful. It was almost like having a slice of warm apple pie with my meal. The meal size was perfect. I did not leave overly full and I did not need a container for leftovers. Most places serve meals that are too large, I realize this is my opinion. The menu was not too large so the staff are able to concentrate on perfecting the menu items. And items on the menu also change which is a feature of more upscale restaurants. Way to go Team Lexington Diner!!!!!

I had the Diner chicken sandwich with gouda cheese and mustard potato salad for $7.99. The prices were reasonable and actually a little cheaper than I expected. I figured for a chicken sandwich and side I'd pay $9. We used an Amazon Local deal so ours was even cheaper. Our table got a Caprese salad as an appetizer and it was great. I ended up with leftovers of my sandwich because it was so big. I'll definitely try here again, the menu looked interesting.

KY Bourbon Burger... The barbecue sauce was a nice mixture of sweet, smokey, and just the right amount of heat. A cozy atmosphere, perfectly picked Pandora station, and friendly wait crew made for a pleasant mid day pick-me-up.

What a wonderful establishment! Delicious! Be prepared to wait because this quaint little place is always packed. It's no wonder. The food is out of this world! French toast= amazing! Burgers are perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. My mouth waters just thinking about the food. Staff is friendly and attentive but never overbearing. Owner is very hands on and welcoming. This has become a Lexington legend and i am sure it will be around for a long time.

Ok, I went back. A friend wanted to go, so I thought why not. Because we had limited time, we called ahead and placed our order, and I think that is the key. Our food was ready when we got there, and we were able to sit in the dining room and enjoy our lunch. We both got Fish and Chips, and it was fantastic!! Yes, I will go back, and I will call ahead to place my order.

I will just say that everything I have tried at the Lexington Diner is absolutely delicious! Whether you are there for breakfast or lunch you'll find something to fall in love with. The service is awesome, they are very polite and are very attentive. I eat here quite a bit and I'm even having them cater my reception for my wedding. Ranada (the owner) is super nice and helpful, she will treat you like family. If you've never eaten here you definitely should, once you've been here you will see what I'm talking about!!

Certainly a step up from the previous tenant of this spot downtown. I've been a few times sampling different menu items and everything has been pretty solid. Nothing mind blowing just yet, just typical diner food. The breakfast certainly is better than the lunch so far.

Great place for a nice southern breakfast. My husband had the peaches & french toast and he loved it, but couldn't finish it. I had eggs, potatoes and bacon and enjoyed it very much. Beyond that, the staff was very nice and the coffee was excellent. We were just passing thru town and wanted more than the buffet breakfast offered at our hotel. This was a nice sampling of the locals!

I tried Lexington Diner on a whim, and come back time and again because the combination of happy waitstaff, fun music, local focus, and nourishing food just can't be beat. I've hired them twice now for catering gigs - they were on time and professional, and the food was quickly devoured. Though the kitchen is efficient and willing to accommodate (even vegans), this isn't fast food - this is kick off your shoes and stay awhile - enjoy the day food. And I do. I enjoy every day I spend there.

Nicest and fastest wait staff. It's not everyday you get a dancing waitress. Had the Berry French toast and it was incredible!! The cream cheese dollop on the side was delicious!! This place is pretty hopping. You can tell it has a following.

Went in on Saturday afternoon for brunch. I didn't have a lot of time, but it was great. Good coffee and fast service. I got the steak and eggs benedict. I didn't read carefully so I got home fries in addition to the hash browns that already come with it lol. Lots of potato which I don't need but really good.

My buddy GH had ate here 3 times In about 7 days so he decided to take me too. Good choice friend. I had black bean (in house made) burger. I would have again. Service went out of the way to take care of us and make it a place we want to come back and I will. More added once I try more. Also serve breakfast every day till 10:30 and I like breakfast. So be in soon for that

As a chef myself, I'm always looking for a place with great food and a great atmosphere. I have to honestly say that whenever I get a chance, the Lexington Diner is my go to place. Food is always great, specials are creative and inviting. Staff is friendly and inviting. If you're looking for a solid experience, check them out. You will not be disappointed. Promise.

It was no contest: my review for this place has to be five stars. No matter what type of food you're used to, there is definitely something for you here. Lexington Diner offers an incredible variety of unique offerings that combine beloved favorites with delicious, unique, flavorful ingredients. I ordered the Handbasket Burger, as an ode to the divine Helena. Fried egg, chorizo, and cheddar cheese on a burger was easily the most delicious, affordable piece of heaven I could've ever imagined. I typically don't like potato salad, but the potato salad that I ordered as a side was delicious.. my mind has been changed about potato salad! The atmosphere is very welcoming, and it's as if you don't meet strangers here. Ranada is such a sweet heart, and I feel that she does a wonderful job contributing to the amazing community that Lexington has. What a wonderful place. I know I'll definitely be coming here frequently. The breakfast menu looks absolutely heavenly, so that's my next goal. Regardless of what you order though, I can guarantee you'll enjoy every second of it.

My mom came into town so we decided to go to breakfast. We wanted to support a local business so we came here. I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. When buying into the eggs they were extremely chalky. I had my mom try them to make sure it wasn't just me...it wasn't. She couldn't even swallow her bite. I have no idea what they made them with but they didn't taste even the slightest bit like real eggs. My mom let the waitress know, who then let one of the owners know. The owner made a HUGE scene in front of the whole restaurant ranting about us. She started yelling at the waitress, and adding that we were "ridiculous" and "the first people to ever complain about the eggs". We were in the back of the restaurant and heard every word of her rant. After we payed and we're getting up to leave we heard the waitress go over to the couple eating to the left of us and asked if there was something wrong with the mans food. He told her he didn't care for it ( he had scrambled eggs as well) so clearly we weren't the only ones that didn't care for the eggs. Because of the owners behavior, unprofessionalism, and the way she treated her employee, I will NEVER be back there. If I could give them zero stars I would.

We stopped for a quick bite before heading home for the weekend, hoping for a quick diner style meal. Unfortunately that was not the case. They sat our party of five somewhat quickly, then our waiter (Ryan) I think greeted us. He seemed quite preoccupied. He finally brought our drinks, and then left for about 15 minutes. Once he came back he walked up and said "I think I'm ready to take your order now." He took our order, the food came out in a timely manner. He was not mindful of refills at all. He never anticipated any of our needs. I realize this is a small diner, but there's no reason you can't provide great service if you hire the right people and train them well. The food was decent. I'm sure they have some great things on the menu, just don't go if they're busy, they don't know how to handle a rush. Also, if you're thinking about the biscuits, pass on the hockey pucks.

I happily give The Lexington Diner five stars... I travel a lot and often seek out diners (as they're good for dining alone). Like many of the best diners, it's small and nondescript... But the food - wow!!! AMAZING. I went for brunch on a Saturday, and had (honestly) the best French toast I've ever had (spiced caramel apple French toast)... And because I'm below the Ohio River, I had to get grits, too! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful... And there was the great bonus of live music... Yep, a singer/acoustic guitarist for brunch. I'll be back on my next trip to Lexington!

Eat here now! How wonderful is this great addition to the ever growing food and drink mecca of Downtown Lexington! Their food is GREAT...creative and clean (not greasy or swimming in sauces and "cover ups"). The portions are large (for me anyway) and the prices are very fair. I have been there twice in one week since finding them and I am looking forward to going again. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable (you hired some terrific servers!). The chicken salad was not drowning in mayo as all too often is the case when ordering it. I did ask the server if it was very "mayo heavy" and he was right! Top that off with a large cold cup of Diet Dew (yes I said it)...and wow what a lunch. I have yet to try their breakfast offerings but intend to. The diner is clean and easy to get to (next to the old Court House)...a few outside tables add to the sitting space but it is small so please do not go when I want to! And I hear the mustard potato salad is delicious but they had already run out of it by the time I got there. The menu is not huge but they offer specials and I think no matter what your eating needs are, you can find something to try. Good job Lexington Diner...I am a fan!

Falls short of consistency and taste. This diner on the corner of Upper and Short in downtown Lexington, with its limited hours, offers an array of culinary tastings however few deliver in taste and consistency of service. I did not experience positive customer service in my visit, which is unfortunate.

My first visit was Valentines day early morning. The menu is creative and the food is delicious! It was hard to choose what to order. I went with the caramel delight French toast and my husband had the Italian sausage, pesto and provolone omelet. My only complaint is the service was slow and not very attentive and it wasnt even a busy morning for them as I am told. We'll be back but hopefully sitting in someone else's section!

I love the concept of this restaurant as well as its location, and have been here a few times hoping it would become a favorite, but it just hasn't. Service is very inconsistent. One time we had a server who was great at first, then disappeared. After waiting for more water and our check for a full 20 minutes, I went to look for her and she was outside on a cigarette break. The other times, our server has just seemed miserable and been very unfriendly. The food is pretty good, but not exceptional. The most recent time we came here was for breakfast a couple of days ago. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, which the menu describes as two large biscuits served with a bowl of sausage gravy. What I received were two small biscuits with cream gravy and some sausage on the side. The gravy being separate from the sausage didn't bother me too much (I can tear it up and dunk it, no problem), but the biscuits were way too small to be a full breakfast. When I finished them, I had about 80% of my gravy left. If we're in the area, I MIGHT stop by again, but it's unlikely which is unfortunate because the concept is great and some of the food was really good!

Great little gem located in the heart of downtown. I have been during the week and on the weekend for their brunch. It's one of those places I like to take visitor's from out of town! They do French toast better than the French and their burgers are fanfriggintastic!

Incredibly friendly place serving traditional but well well done food. None of the food was life changing, but it is of the quality that you would hope to find in a dinner where things were made by hand but which you rarely do. One caveat, the OJ isn't very good.

  • Brittney E.

I checked out this place for the first time and was very pleased with both the service and the food quality. It was a Sunday so they had a special brunch menu, and I chose the garden vegetable omelette. The garlic cheddar grits were really tasty as a side, and the omelet was fresh and flavorful. I think the food quality and value is just right. It's a great breakfast/lunch spot in a convenient location.

Wow! This place is going to be a hit! It's only been open since Monday and has already made the top spot on Yelp as Lexington's new business in Lexington...they had already earned one star from me, before I ever stepped foot inside. They're only open from 7am to 3pm and closed Sundays. I got there around 2:30 but didn't feel rushed. You know how you get the feel around closing time, at some places that the employees are ready to get you out and go home? Well, not here. The owner was even walking around greeting people. The food: I had one of the daily specials, The Rosie-a chicken salad wrap and a side for $6.99. The coleslaw was some of the best I've ever had. I snuck a bite of my husband's black bean burger, just to make sure that he wasn't lying when he said it was the best black bean burger he had ever eaten. He was right! They also have KY hotbrown that I must try...on a cheat day, of course ;) I love the area too, right in the heart of downtown. A review that started and ends with wow.

Were passing through Lexington, and my father has stomach issues and a very particular diet. So we have to eat at vegetarian type placwa. We came arias this diner on yelp. The staff is so nice!! The food is absolutely amazing! And the owner even came up and talked to is like she's known us for years. Turns our, she has a particular diet like my fathers s, to us that's why she made this restaurant. The place is clean, cute, and well managed! If I happen in Lexington again, I will Deffinately come back :)

We were looking for lunch around UK at lunch time while classes were in session what were we thinking?! So we came on in to downtown and remembered that Lexington Diner had just opened. We love the new decor vs the previous establishments decor. It's very clean with a nice choice of colors and art. The food was very good. My husband had the white ghost cheese burger w/ chili and I had the fish and chips. The cole slaw was just like 'moms from childhood'. The fish was good although slightly over done. My husband finished the burger and refreshed his sinuses all at the same time ;) We wish we would have had room for the pistachio-honey-almond cheesecake but were stuffed from lunch! It must have been delicious because it sold out right from under our eyes ( we were sitting at the counter) We will definately return as we live downtown and can walk there. Looking forward to breakfast brunch on Saturdays with live music!

We were in town for the Bourbon Trail and I like to do some research beforehand for good places to eat (local, not chains) and saw this place just 2 blocks from our hotel. The deal was sealed when talking to a local gal who told us it's awesome, and we usually get the Breakfast Brown. So the next morning my wife and I ordered the Breakfast Brown and a side of cheesy garlic grits to share. It was plenty for both of us and it was incredible! Mix the Breakfast Brown together to really get the best of all the flavors. The staff is awesome, friendly, and always on it. The chefs also have some pretty creative specials for lunch and dinner, so I gathered from the menu board she puts out. We were too full to try the Strawberry Champagne cake or the baklava, but they looked great too. An aside, just listening to the staff in the back it sounds like they have fun and LOVE what they do.

Awesome, friendly, intimate diner with great service, absolutely delicious breakfast and lunch, and a cool downtown location facing the pretty and historic court house. Loved the omlettes, biscuits, sausage (best Chorizo I've ever had), burgers. One of our new favorites.

Delicious! One of my favorite lunch spots downtown. If they have the meatballs on special you're gonna wanna make that happen. The Cadillac burger is also a winner. Fast, friendly service and reasonable prices. I like that the menu is fairly simple but everything on it is done with great quality.

Very friendly and fast service. We had wanted breakfast so were disappointed that it ended at 10:30, we were 20 minutes late but there were plenty of lunch choices. We were very impressed with how fresh everything was and the attention to local foods. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were covered in a lighter batter than I have had which I really liked with cheese sprinkled on top and 2 types of sauce, pesto and a tomato based. We should have asked for more of the sauce it was a bit skimpy. I had the Mediterranean wrap. Delicious with a lot of interesting veggies and hummous and the cole slaw. The slaw was vinegar based but with a non-vinegar sweetness that was perfect. My husband got the special: chili and grilled cheese. The only reason I didn't give the place a 5 was his feeling that his whole meal was fine but nothing special. He thought the chili was spicy but not flavorful, the bread good but just American cheese. I would love to go back and try other things. This place needs to stick around, they do it right!

With the word "diner" in the name and the standard diner look from the outside, I was expecting basic diner food (or a "coney island" as we call them in Detroit). So, I was so so so pleasantly surprised by the awesome lunch I had here. They were featuring a yummy poutine (Canadian-style french fries--topped with super tender beef, gravy, and cheese curds) and it was delicious. We had a slice of cheesecake that was exceptional and super rich as well. I'd for sure go back here next time I'm in town. The owner mentioned that she's going to be featured on TV soon--unsurprising since there is clearly a great deal of care cooked into this "diner" menu!

  • W L.

Breakfast experience: Nice owner and staff. Fresh ingredients in omelettes. Home fries were potato wedges that would have been more tasty if they were a bit crispy. Very dry and dry cheese grits. Both are free with omelettes. Service were slow, especially with coffee refills even when there were only 4 tables.

  • KC C.

Very disappointing. Hours to day old cold biscuits, cold french toast with what tasted like smeared canned pumpkin in between slices. Bacon gouda omelete was decent and service was fine other than absolutely no response when mentioned our dissatisfaction with the meal. Can get way better food at home. Will never return.

  • Austin M.

Awesome local joint and delicious food. Can't go wrong with any of the burgers and it is all very reasonably priced. The rotating daily specials is also a nice touch as the chefs aren't afraid to go out of the norm with their recipes. All of the staff members are extremely friendly and cheery. Located right in the middle of downtown this diner is an absolute must!

Great food, even better service. As an out of towner I was taken under their wing and given the full tour of places to visit. Fried Green Tomatoes were phenomenal! The special sandwich of the day was also very delicious! It consisted of steak with a Thai inspired slaw with cilantro. I was dipping the homemade potato chips in the juices that ran off it was so good!! The wait staff was very attentive which I appreciate. I will definitely be going back and bringing friends.

I wanted to like my meal, but there were some issues I just couldn't get past. It seems like other people really enjoyed their food, so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. I definitely see the potential in the restaurant, but my food was executed so poorly that I'm unsure that I would like to return. My philly cheese steak was so tough I had to use a knife and fork to eat it. My kettle chips were not evenly season and many were soggy. I think we will wait a few months and try again.

One word: Delicious! Everything I have tried has been amazing! Great service, and great food. What great addition to the Lexington Food Scene. I can't wait to go back and try breakfast next time. I saw Banana Nutella French Toast on the breakfast menu. MUST try!!

I've been here 3 times for lunch so far and everything has been good. So good. The regular menu is extensive but the specials are always fantastic. Today I had shrimp quesadillas that were out of this world. Definitely one of my favorite lunch places downtown.
