The atmosphere here is wonderful and relaxing. We came for lunch while visiting the Lexington area. Lunch special was the Grouper fingers and Tomatoe basil soup. It was amazing. The waiter was extremely nice and attentive. Parking is easy in and out. There is s good size patio area and a nice bar as well. Great place to meet friends after s long day at work or to hold s small meeting. I visit this area frequently and never disappointed with the food or the people in Lexington .

This place is overrated and way overpriced. I was really excited to try this place for the first time but I was extremely disappointed. The waiter was extremely brief and not welcoming. The service was subpar and the food was mediocre. The waiter was visibly getting annoyed when we asked questions about items on the menu. The way everything is described on the menu really will fool you. The truffle fries were good but my mahi mahi was extremely watery and messily plated. I tried my sister's macadamia nut crusted salmon and was also disappointed. My other sister got the fettuccine which consisted of maybe 10 noodles. The waiter seemed as if he was trying to get rid of us since he took my plate away as I was taking my last bite. Come on. He only came to our table once to refill our drinks and was only attentive when waiting for us to pay our check. I'm assuming that this is rare for Azure due to all the high ratings, but I will definitely not be going back.

I'm happy to report another 5 star restaurant in Lexington. It is located in an upperclass strip mall, surrounded by Bru Burger, Liquor Barn and a few hotels. The size is a bit small when you compare it to Malones or some of the other 5 star restaurants in town. The size may result in my only complaint, it was loud. But hey, a busy restaurant on a weekday is a good sign. What brought me here was one of the monthly wine dinners that they have. I found it listed on the events page, here on Yelp. I didn't decide that I was going to until the day of the Tuesday night event. I called and they added us to the reservation list. We arrived at exactly 7:00 and were seated at a table for two. Which is a bit different than other wine dinners that I've been to, which are usually a group like settings. Our waiter immediately poured us a full glass of the Spanish wine, followed by a asparagus salad. He explained that the salad wasn't part of the menu but given as a starter, before they got started. The waiter came around and topped off our wines, again even before the first course of our meal arrived. I won't elaborate on the food because nothing was part of their set menu. I will say that everything was delicious, and some of the best presentation that I've experienced anywhere. And because it was prepared by the chef/owner and his kitchen staff, I'm confident that the menu items are prepared just as well. With each the four courses of the meal, was another full glass of wine, each coming from a different region of the world. Each of the courses were region focused too. The chef/owner came out and spoke about the food and you could really tell he is passionate about the business. All of the staff were amazing. Our waiter knew every question that I would ask. Many of the sauces and menu items were ones that I'd never had or knew what they exactly were. My phone died, so I couldn't Google items that I didn't know about, so asked him about them. I've never experienced a waiter that had that sort of knowledge about the restaurant, food and wine like Doug did. The other waitstaff seemed to be just as attentive and the manager was walking around being personable too. The lady from Southern something wine, which I believe organized the wines, was walking around talking with people too... but she didn't stop at our table of two, maybe she noticed me grilling my waiter with questions and wasn't up to the challenge. Who knows? I'll be back. I noticed that they offer two meals for $20 on Sundays... so the prices can't be too steep. Look at the posted photos! Where else have you experienced that sort of presentation in Lexington?

Really quality food with a fabulous wait staff. My meal was the lamb shank and it was falling off the bone. The vegetables were not over cooked as they are at most restaurants. The side salad was fresh greens with a great dressing. This is about as good as it gets in Lexington Kentucky. The house cabernet sauvignon was really nice to boot. I also had a bite of my friends pork chop and I know exactly what I will order the next time i visit.

Meh. The food is prepared in fair portions but the marriage of flavor combinations is not to my taste. The presentation is poor, having the food unappetisingly set on the plate and unchecked by unskilled eyes. For the price of haute cuisine in Lexington, there are better overall experiences to be had.

Excellent peach mint julep and love the truffle fries (plenty to share)! Sunday bourbon fried chicken & mashed potatoes is a steal @ 2 for $20! Huge patio w/live music.

Me and hubby tend to shy away from any resistant for Vday because the menus are fixed and well quite boring. We went to Azur last week and decided the menu sounded to delicious to pass up! So we went and we were not disappointed! Four courses for $60 per person. For the amount of food and quality, well worth it! Our server was A+ and the musician was a great touch for the evening! We keep going back to Azur for the food, service, and the ambiance is great!

This place is way past its prime. Our family has been coming to Lexington for 10 + years and I sware the menu is the same with a few tweeks, the staff is rude the interior is dark & depressing. Please update your resturant

Azur is my go to place for good food and a good atmosphere. What should you order? I haven't had a dish I didn't like yet. Every salad has been great. The lobster crepes are good if you like guava (I think it has a guava syrup, if not disregard). The scallops are simple, yet excellent. And the deserts are always worth ordering, no matter how full you may be.

This restaurant lives up to their description "an innovative restaurant that offers truly unique cuisine, excellent service and European ambiance." I was very happy with my meal and service. Can't wait to try the patio in the summer.

Good food, but not worth the price. Good wine selection. Smokers next to us on the patio tainted our experience, unfortunately. I know tobacco and bourbon are a devilish delight, Lex, but it's killing us. Let's respect the trend sweeping the rest of the nation and keep our eating establishments secondhand smoke-free!

I am not a Lexington local, but AZUR in always on my list when I travel to LEX. They have the most amazing bourbon fried chicken!!!!! (I dream about it!) The staff is always attentive and helpful!!

Always a treat. Great meals and great setup. Particularly enjoyed the music tonight as well as my meal which included: - truffle fries roasted garlic aioli, fine herbs, parmesan - wild greens roasted pear, warm cheese gateau, crispy onions, balsamic vinaigrette -lime bruleed scallops creamy corn, bacon and okra chowder, jalapeño polenta. Fantastic environment where the chef is never a stranger. A true Lexington classic and a MUST for all out of towners!

Food was very good, but overpriced and service was just ok. The wine menu wasn't updated, and after selecting a bottle the server informed me the wine was no longer available. The server proceeded to offer a comparable wine and offered it for purchase at the same price as the one I had originally selected - a $10 discount. When the bill arrived, the wine wasn't discounted. I was then told the wine couldn't be discounted and that it was $30 more than original I selected. The server then said there was nothing he could do and offered that I take the $30 out of his tip. Not an appropriate way to handle the situation. Disappointed because it's a good restaurant.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant in a strip mall across from my hotel while traveling on business. The online reviews were good and I enjoy this type of cuisine, having lived in N. California for a time. Azur did not disappoint. After a long, tiring day, I wanted a good glass of Chardonnay and the Laguna was a perfect choice. Then I had the Azur Superfood Salad, with duck for added protein. Presentation was beautiful and my waitress, Caitlin, was friendly and efficient. Great experience. Would definitely return if I am back in Lexington.

We arrived at Azur at an odd time, so my experience may not be typical. Since it was about 3PM, they were between lunch and supper, and we could not choose a main, but rather only starters, salads, and desserts. All three were very good! We began with the fried green tomatoes. They were very good and served over a large salad and with hard-boiled eggs. Next, we ordered the superfood salad. This was also quite good, with spinach, kale, edamame, blueberries, and some other things. The part of the salad that was unique and the best, was the spicy carrots that topped it and delicious chili-lime dressing. As good as those two courses were, I think the highlight was dessert. We tried the chocolate torte (with vanilla ice cream) and some sort of apple dumpling cake (with caramel ice cream). 10/10 for both! I would be hard-pressed to pick one over the other since they were both outstanding, but I would perhaps lean towards the apple dish. Don't be fooled by the location is a strip mall into thinking this is an ordinary greasy spoon or sandwich shop, this is a higher-end place, and I recommend giving it a try.

Spent 5 minutes sitting at a table waiting for at the most someone to come over to me for my drink order. The place wasn't all that busy for a small establishment. Open Table gave it 5 stars and Yelp gave it 4 1/2. The hostess who seated me decided to skip over me and get the drink order for an individual after me, dressed in a full suit attire. Annoyed, I walked out. It says casual but most of the attire was dressy. It's a shame I would have probably dropped more money than the gentleman in the suit. The menu is way over priced.

Wow, how do I start? We had the fried oyster appetizer, which was good & had us anticipating the arrival of our entrees. My wife had ordered the $32 NY strip, I had the $26 pork chop. With the first cut of my wife steak, cooked medium rare, she had to begin sawing with the steak knife to get through it! I said" maybe it's just on the edge of the steak". Well it wasn't, the guzzle run through the whole thing & she wasn't able to chew it. When we got a hold of a manager, he suggested that she may have asked for it to be too well done. With blood running out on the plate, I was a little surprised to hear him go there. Finally he agreed to exchange for the "superfood" salad & refund the difference. She asked for the salad to go because we were traveling, when it arrived she peaked inside to see what it looked like. They had put the salad on a plate originally, but when my wife asked for it to go they just turned it over into a to go box! I got the impression that they thought we weren't quite up their normal customers standards. A $32 steak should be able to be cut with a fork, just sayin'

Whether dining with girlfriends or date night with the beau, Azur never ceases to amaze. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly. Most recently, we dined there for the last seating of the prix-fixe NYE dinner. The meal, as always, was amazing. You'll more than likely be greeted by one of the owners or enjoy a local celebrity siting. The expertly trained Executive Chef Ashby can be spotted in the kitchen more often than not with his sleeves rolled up. I always suggest the "chef's composed menu" when deciding on a dish - this three course tasting menu provides the freshest and trendiest seasonal fare. This place is a can't miss when hoping to impress or entertain guests.

One of Lexington's a finer dining places. Prices are high but the quality and taste if food is amazing. Seasonal dishes make AZUR a must visit anytime of the year. Also, bourbon selection was excellent.

THE BLUES AT AZUR This highly hyped restaurant is over-priced and underwhelming. Nice patio for warn weather dining. Very loud band inside. Could not have a conversation until they went on break. Large plates with small portions. Was double charged for my drink --$18.95 for a martini. Received two excuses from the waitress, and one from the manager with an attitude. Did they think I wouldn't notice? I'm over dining on pretense! Lexington is a food mecca. Too many terrific restaurants to ever want to go back to Azur.

An amazing place to go for a great dinner. Me and my gal pals came here last week. We all enjoyed it and the staff was quite courteous and helpful. You'll definitely see my face in this restraint again!

Four stars for our waitress Hannah: efficient, friendly, and made a good recommendation on a pinot noir. Two stars for food: (1) $32.95 for a tuna entree is WAY too much when it was a bad cut: it is supposed to be sashimi grade but had so much white membrane that are hard to cut I almost spit it out once, had I thought that would worry (and disgust) my companion. (2) Veal special (bone-in) was $36.95. It was cooked well, but way too much for the quality. (3) Good sized salads ($9.95-$10.95) but some greens were yellow and wilted. One star for the strange ambiance: The live two-person band was LOUD and made it hard to chat. Most songs were romantic but do not sound romantic at all: The singer do not have the voice to carry it off. In fact, he was singing slightly off key during one of the songs. If the owner(s) hoping to create a somewhat romantic ambiance , I'd suggest at least turning down the volume a few notches and finding a better band. If it is energetic ambiance that the restaurant is trying to create, choose a different genre of music and, please, don't be so loud. This ain't a night club! When the entrees cost $20-$38 each, I would like less annoying ambiance and better singing! An expensive mistake. Will not return.

We come here often, but this week we went and the food is less and less and the prices go up. Four of us went two got fried chicken,we always got two pieces, now one piece.

I must admit that I have been very satisfied with everything I've had to eat here. I had the lobster crepe, rack of lamb and the crème brûlée. The place was right next to my hotel ........sweet. Final bill $55.20 this was for 1 person, no alcohol and no tip added yet.........pricy!

So disappointed...overpriced and not worth it for the quality of food. I ordered the pork chop with mac and cheese and collard greens. Mac and cheese cold...greens way to salty and pork chop tough. My friend ordered salmon which had a good flavor but too salty. Waiter was underwhelming. Will not return

Five stars for Hannah, our waitress. She is efficient, friendly, and attentive. Three stars for food quality. One star for price. One star for ambience, the crowded seating, and the overly loud and VERY mediocre band. On average, 2.5 stars. Rounding to three. Probably will not return.

Had a glass of wine at the bar while I pondered over what to order. The beer menu looked well stocked of craft beers and the menu of seasonally fresh dishes. I wasn't sure what to order but the bartender was quick to help with a vegetarian option of roasted veggies and Parmesan risotto. It was heaven after my long day of traveling.

This week I had my BiRTHDAY DINNER at AZUR with five other people. The food was outstanding. I appreciate the personal touch that the Chef applies with his dishes. We had five courses and the spacing of the meal providing great time for tasting...digestation and visiting. As one who has the opportunity to travel all around the USA and being a "foodie", it was outstanding and will be back.

Tonight was my first time here, and I will not be going back. Service was fine, our waitress was friendly. They weren't particularly fast at getting stuff to us, but we had a large group. The food, what little I got, was fine. Nothing to write home about, but it wasn't bad. Due to dietary restrictions, I wanted something low-fat. Most of their menu consists of heavy, fatty foods, which isn't unexpected. I thought I'd be safe ordering something with portobello, tomato, and onion from their salad section. I expected portobello mushrooms with other tasty things on top of greens. Nope, I got a slice of mushroom with some fiddly bits on top for $10. Tasted fine, but I ended up eating mostly the free bread that came out with people's salads because there just wasn't enough food. The bread tasted like stock, bought-elsewhere sourdough, so it didn't seem like tasty bread from a local bakery. I'm not asking for Applebee's-style portions, but if you put a dish in the "salad" section of the menu, I would expect some greenery. To semi-confirm this when I was trying to decide what to order, I looked at their caesar salad and it didn't explicitly say "lettuce", so I figured "oh they just don't list the greenery, I'm sure this portobello salad comes with something more than a slice of mushroom." This wasn't a side salad either: there was a big price difference between side salads and the salad I ordered. This was intended to be an entree. Some of the other dishes people got did look tasty, but all the portions were small. I'm actually eating some cereal at home now because I didn't get enough to eat. We spent way more than we would have at any other restaurant, for way less food that wasn't particularly good. Honestly, I could have gone to Subway and got a $5 sandwich that was a better deal. At least I wouldn't have spent $10 on a slice of mushroom with overly strong vinaigrette.

(3.5 stars) Good experience on my first visit to Azur. Everything we tried was well prepared and had a good flavor except the scallop dish. Although the scallops were perfectly cooked, their flavor was overwhelmed by the red-wine based sauce that was served with the dish. One annoying thing was the small number of scallops they serve for the price they charged for the dish. However, other than that, the experience was good. We went there on a Tuesday night and the place wasn't packed so the service was quick. Once the weather warms up, I hope to visit Azur again and enjoy the outdoor patio dining.

Azur was perfect for our trip into Bourbon country. The dishes are complex and well thought out, but not impossible to eat. They have a good eye toward gluten sensitivity, and vegan, and are willing to work around dietary considerations in general. It's clearly a tight knit group of servers and staff, and they work well together. The food was well prepared and delicious. In general, I would be more likely to stay around them in order to eat there next time I am in town. Highly recommended.

There were these two Fridays in a row where we found ourselves at Azur and had really watered-down martinis. But guess what? Have been there twice since, and no problem. Great martinis. And the truffle fries are so good you should need a doctor's prescription to be allowed to eat them.

Patio tonight was really nice. Table felt a little small and crowded for our plates when the meal came but everything was so delicious. Truffle fries were amazing especially the aeoli dipping sauce (sp?) Red grouper and a bed of mushroom/rice was super good but the sauce was a lil unnecessary. Yum all around!

Kentucky is my second home thanks to my job. When I want a fresh, delicious meal, I come to Azur. I've ridden the emotional roller coaster of falling in love with and seeing duck ramen fall off the menu. My new fave is the spinach gnocchi (served with shrimp). I've brought coworkers here, and their reactions are always the same--Wow! This food is (expletive) outstanding!! Every time I've come here, the atmosphere's been great, the food outstanding, and the wine list decent. Sadly, the service has always been lax and flighty. Being that Kentucky is known for its friendly people, why can't Azur find friendly, caring servers?

We often forget about Azur because of it's location, but the food has been AMAZING every time we have eaten there. On our most recent visit, we started with the Truffle Fries, which were perfectly cooked and while they could be enjoyed plain the aioli was a great pairing. One of the specials during our visit was a Filet topped with Bleu Cheese and although it was a bit peppery for my taste, my partner thought it was one of the best filets he has ever tasted. It was served over mashed potatoes that I was tempted to order an extra serving of just because they were that tasty! I had the Stuffed Gnocchi with shrimp and it was absolutely delicious! The flavor combinations in the dish were just right (and you just you can't go wrong with sun-dried tomatoes). I took half of it home and it was just as good for lunch the next day. Although we were stuffed, I was intrigued by the Tempura Banana Split so we caved and had it for dessert. I don't know how they managed to fry the bananas like that, but they were crispy and yet not mushy inside. I am not a fan of Nutella, but it's presence was not overwhelming and I very much enjoyed the dessert. I will definitely go back just to have that dessert again!

Eh......tries hard but doesn't quite get it right. Overpriced, food is ok, service could be better. Patio is nice, but forgot its KY and smokers sitting at patio bar, yuck!

Great food. Beautiful food. We had the post sticker special....loved it!!!! Our meal was the amazing started with farmer arugula salad topped with duck confit. It was delicious. Entrees included the woven shrimp which had a mixture of sweet flavors and the filet burger. I would definitely go back. Our waiter, Josh, was knowledgable and friendly. Only downside was the salt rimmed lemon drop, but josh fixed that quickly!

Azur is a small place in a strip mall in Lexington. There was live music and I have to compliment them on keeping it just the right volume, so we could still eat and talk AND hear the music. I was worried we wouldn't be able to talk. I had an amazing sea bass, that was yummy. We ordered wine by the glass, nothing exceptional-looking on the wine list. I do believe the restaurant is over-priced for what they offer. Service was good. It was a nice place to meet friends.

Food and service were good but the music was so loud it was impossible to enjoy a dinner conversation. I think the music should stick to the patio area.

We ate dinner here after the Keeneland races. Service, when we arrived, was prompt and friendly. We got our salads quickly but, after that, our server vanished. She had been given a table of 13 plus another table and she was too busy ever to check on us. In addition, the patio doors were open and there was a table of about 8 guys smoking cigars. The stench inside the dining room was awful! Someone else must have complained because they finally shut the doors but not before the whole dining room stunk! Superfood salad was great but we won't be back because of the service and smell issues.

We went to Azur for my birthday. We were seated on the patio, it was a lovely night. We proceeded to have dinner and were rudely interrupted by 3 very intoxicated regulars. I had hope to enjoy a wonderful birthday dinner but I ended up watching a very drunk woman show her breasts and get fondled by two men. When we asked our server to say something we were told that they were regulars and that she really couldn't. We have been there several times and we will never come back. waste of money

Fun place to eat except my booth had a huge hole in the seat. The recommended Meatballs were pre-cooked and hard as a rock and just as dry. The fries were very good and my buddy said his pork sandwich was good. Our serve was VERY nice but on the whole no one seemed to be in much of a hurry. I'll try it again but meat balls are so easy to cook they will not get a pass from me on doing half-assed job on them sorry.

Incredible dining find! Amazing food, amazing atmosphere. There was a live band playing outside while we ate. Wonderful, unexpected combinations that keep the down home flavor in fantastic meals. The bourbon fried chicken and mozzarella chicken are must haves and our server, Doug, made sure out first night in town was the best! A must visit when in Lexington

The reason I am giving this restaurant a 3 has NOTHING to do with the food, so I'll start there. I had the fried chicken breast over mashed potatoes with fresh green beans (which was really delicious!). It was one of the lower priced items on the menu. My girlfriend ordered their equivalent of a caprese salad, which she really enjoyed as well. We are college students, so many items on the menu were out of our price range, but we ended up leaving with a $35 tab including tip, so definitely doable! If you want good food, this is the place to go! The hostess was very lovely and got us a table right away on a Friday night without a reservation. The waiter, however, was not very professional. He didn't introduce himself, didn't offer suggestions for entrees, and we could tell that we weren't very important to him. That being said, he got the minimum %15, which is probably what he was expecting. That was our experience, and there are usually a few bad apples in each restaurant as far as wait staff goes, so others may have had very professional waiters. If we had I would have given the restaurant a 4 or 5! Everything else was spectacular, including the live music. All that said, I recommend you try it out for yourself!

Good atmosphere, good service, good food. Can tell chefs are creating thoughtful, tasty dishes. They certainly seem to support local ingredients, which is awesome. I only wish they would have more organic ingredients, & more cage free, hormone/steroid free protein options, especially grass fed beef. If they did, I wouldn't eat anywhere else. Surely expensive to waste that on some patrons who don't care about these things but I bet with some education, they would!

Hands down most inventive restaurant in Lexington. Very fresh ingredients. This establishment uses as much local produce and meat as possible. Most of the wait staff has been there for many years and Grant, one of the veteran bartenders, makes the best cocktails in town. We feel very blessed to have this little treasure in our neighbor. They have certainly raised the bar for the food scene in Lexington and Kentucky. Chef Ashby has earned his accolades. Bravo!

The bad service ruined the exprience for me. My salmon salad was delicious, but my husband's burger and fries were served cold after a long wait. No apologies. I don't spend that kind of money to beg for service and eat cold food. Even more disappointing was taking the business card of the owner, emailing him with both my concerns as well as some compliments and receiving ZERO response. I did not want free food. I wanted an apology. Clearly this restaurant doesn't care about satisfied patrons. I will never go back.

I found the variety and quality of the food to be excellent. Other diners seemed to have complained about portion size - not sure if they used to be smaller but the portions were very reasonable. My boyfriend and I split a starter and each were full after our main entree. I had the duck, which was well prepared and tasty. A great meal. Service was friendly and prompt. Ambience was okay, although felt like it could be more be comfortable, didn't feel quite as special as the food. Overall, it is recommended if looking for some good food in lexington.

My husband and I came here for an anniversary and it was our first time here. I had no idea this place was going to be so awesome being located in a strip mall. I came here only because it came so highly recommended. Everything was perfect! The service was impeccable! The food was absolutely the best in Lexington. I had the coconut shrimp and my husband had the steak in which he claimed was the best steak in town. He is a huge Capitol Grille fan so that is saying a lot. We shared the calamari appetizer in which we both enjoyed. We were there in February and so the patio was closed. I cannot wait to come visit Lexington for the Keeneland Spring meet 2013 when we can enjoy Azure on the patio. I highly recommend Azure as it was to me on a special occasion or on any occasion!

Hello Jeremy and staff, Just to let everyone know my husband called Maggie a few days ago and told her that it was our anniversary. She instructed Jeremy the Executive Chef that we were coming on the 18th of December. He was to surprise us with the meal. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and Sam the assistant manager explained that Jeremy had planned a 4 course meal for us. From the first bite to last it was prepared with the caliper of preparation compared to the original Morton's in Chicago.. Nothing disappointed us from the Lobster crepe, salad, Bacon wrapped Filet Mignon to the egg nog Cheesecake. Masterfully prepared each and every bite. Thank you Sam for the excellent explanation about each course. Thank you Jeremy and staff. All of you reading this review will not be disappointed. Make a reservation today!!!!

I found this restaurant on yelp and from the reviews alone we decided to try it. WONDERFUL!!! The staff were all very professional and helpful, the food was delicious and each item lived up to its description on the menu. The only reason i'm not giving five stars is because it was so loud--we were sitting on the very edge of the patio and I found it loud, I couldn't even hear my dining partner when we were still standing inside. So if you're averse to loud, go early--the food is worth it!

This restaurant is a poser. Who ever owns this place must be rich. This place has no sense of urgency to succeed. Every customer facing employee we delt with was apathetic, lazy, entitled, imposed upon, and out right rude. Service sucks!

Upscale and expensive. Food is good, not great. The woven shrimp is tasty. There are better upscale alternatives in Lexington .

This was a special celebratory night out for my husband and I. Due to the price, not a place I would dine at on a regular basis, but makes a great option for a special night out. The menu is a nice size, the dishes offer a variety of flavors I would not likely make at home. The service was outstanding, the food was wonderful. The portions are reasonable, which seems rare. Too often one gets way more than should be eaten on a plate. Got recommendations on dessert from the host. He did not steer us astray, the desserts were tasty. We dined at an off time and the restaurant was not busy. I'd definitely go back.

Interesting menu. Everything was prepared well. I am just too much of a country girl so I don't always appreciate their menu. But our server, Emily, was great and everyone enjoyed the food and the meal

Picked up takeout and was disappointed by my meal. The Bibb salad left little to be desired. Complete with missing toppings & a bland dressing. It seemd that the chef plopped lettuce on a plate with 4 small pieces of mozzarella on top. The calamari appetizer was a fried party, I wish the description was a little better for this dish. Beautiful Decor but Overall disappointed by the food.

If you are looking for a place that has great food and great service. This place is great. You may want to call ahead for reservations. Nice patio, great wine selection and great food.

Nice place with very good ambiance, especially the garden area. Very nicely decorated. I liked the menu, it was fairly small but had something for everyone. Service was very good here. The wild greens salad was one of the best salads I've ever had with a delicious dressing and wonder cheese. The steak was very disappointing after the beautiful salad. it was a very strange thin cut of Rib-Eye from Alltech that I've never had before? Not particularly tasty and much tougher then I expect from a Rib-Eye. Sure you can run into pockets of fat with a rib-eye but for the whole steak to be that way something was wrong with either the steak or the preparation.

Two words: LOBSTER CREPES. Oh my gaaaawd. Seriously, food orgasms are real. If you're not lactose intolerant and not worried about your cholesterol, may I recommend the lobster crepes with some white wine? I also asked the waiter to add a little spring mix with balsamic on the side, which he happily agreed to, and I was in food heaven. Ridiculously delicious. My family ordered all sorts of great-looking and great-tasting food, but I seriously don't remember any of it because I was too absorbed in my lobster crepes. Doesn't matter though because you can't go wrong. Every time I've eaten here it's been amazing. I've also tried the calamari and the grilled portobello mushroom. All were done to perfection, and they don't skimp on presentation either! The food almost looks too good to eat. Good thing they are too delicious to just sit and stare at. This place is a little on the pricey side, so not great for college students on a tight budget, but I'd even go so far as to suggest saving up and trying it for a special occasion. The patio is great for parties. And did I mention LOBSTER CREPES?

We were wanting to try something a little different for Valentines Day this year and heard great things about the establishment and the chef. It was a nice but simple atmosphere and the service was top notch. We had the truffle fries for starters as well as a glass of velvet devil Merlot and a very good Manhattan. I was tempted to try the duck deviled eggs but I wasn't ready the that leap. I had the bourbon fried chicken and the wife had the prosciutto wrapped chicken on a bed of chipolte mashed potatoes. No complaints and I look forward to trying some of the more exotic menu options next time...as well as the deserts.

Very meh. I think Jeremy Ashby's quasi-celeb chef status has gone to his head, or possibly the Lovelys are having a hard time making money from this venture, because the service and food have suffered quite a bit since our last visit. We had dinner on a Friday night / Keeneland opening day. At 6:15, we were told we couldn't sit on the patio because all the tables were "booked." At 8 when we left, there were still lots of empty tables on the patio. Seems there could have been a way to accommodate our request, but ok, we didn't book too far in advance. We did have our choice of inside tables (tho the booths were also "booked." The first inside table we chose was next to a window crawling with flies. So of course we moved but were still annoyed by a couple of drain flies all night. The cheese plate was ordinary - maybe 2 oz of cheese split among 3 pedestrian selections. We ordered it with our drinks but it arrived 20 minutes later (maybe they were trying to make sure the cheese was at room & not refrigerator temperature). The vodka martini came to table warm & without the ordered olives. The waiter brought them on a plate later (fortunately without being asked). Said waiter also advised that one of the specials came with a side of rice "pie lafff," whatever that was. The fried brie & spinach/arugula salad was overdressed and I couldn't spot the arugula; I also thought $12.95 was a lot to spend for an ounce of brie in puff pastry and a half cup of greens. The lamb burger was ordinary, and the accompanying sweet potato fries lost a lot of their charm as they cooled. This is place is trending from what was a more upscale restaurant to one that is more middle of the road, despite high menu prices. There were lots of baseball hat-, t shirt- and cutoffs- wearing patrons.

Dined at AZUR tonight and had the chicken stuffed with mozzarella, which is wrapped in prosciutto and served with chipotle mashed potatoes. An excellent meal, through and through. I saw some other items on the menu that looked very promising. Service was competent, but not very warm. If I lived in the area, I would definitely go back!

I ate here with friends because I had heard good comments. The server was slooow and inattentive My wife's pork chop was raw in the center my friend ordered the surf n turf of NZ elk which was so tuff he could not eat it but the lobster was tasty. This place is all smoke and no fire.

The presentation of the food and the service was great. The atmosphere was ok but the prices were equivalent to an upscale restaurant in down town NYC. The food.... Ok, at best... I would recommend somewhere in downtown Lexington any night.

I have never been disappointed with the food here. I have been here about 4 times over the past few years. When I am not traveling we do not eat out very often. If I did not love to cook, I would definitely eat here more often, and have to take on a second job to pay for it. Pros: The menu offers a pleasing variety of options which always present a challenge for me to select the courses which sound best, since everything sounds good and so many appeal to my adventurous culinary nature. Like most good restaurants, the menu changes pretty often which appeals to my desire to experience something fresh out of the mind of someone who seems like an expert executive chef with a great group of professionals who back him up. Exciting dining options for foodies in Lexington are pretty limited, and thankfully this one is convenient to where I live and work. Cons: There are a few strange and somewhat uncomfortable seating options inside which I have not enjoyed, a spot in the back corner or enclosed in the circular thing in the front are to be avoided in my opinion. At my last visit in the late spring, I was put off by the fact that we were seated in that circular pocket near the front door and there must have been serious climate control problems since we were all in the verge of sweating, the table in the circle may not get enough circulation. Also, any foodie-friendly place should think seriously about offering more creative beer choices. I like wine, I like bourbon, but there is just no excuse for a place like this to not have some decent craft brew choices -- Kentucky Ale is nice but a far cry from special.

My husband and I made New Year Eve reservations at AZUR. I have read many great write ups on AZUR and had wanted to try it for some time. The staff was fantastic, seating us and taking our order, but not rushing us through the evening, even though the restaurant did fill up quickly. We had the four course meal at $55 each, and it was worth every penny! The tuna tartar was FANTASTIC...I could have licked the plate! Even the salads were the best we have had, and both entrees ( the grouper and chicken breast) with the sweet potato purée were awesome! The drinks were very well made, with original flavor combinations that were amazing! And the desserts were an indulgence themselves. Everything was made with the freshest and highest quality ingredients ....we will be back soon!!!!

So, we went back to Azur for dinner last night and it was exactly like I remembered! Tasty dirty martini, and yes, I ate the same dish as before-filet over smoked mac and cheese. The mac and cheese had huge chunks of pancetta in it-nom nom nom! HOWEVER..... They took the chocolate fondue off the dessert list. WHY, GOD, WHY???? Bring it back, dammit!!!!

Azur is one of our favorite restaurants in Lexington. We have never had a bad meal there. Foodies will appreciate the creativity and plating of the cuisine. The specials are always a favorite of my husband. If price is an issue, it is a great place to have some drinks and appetizers. The staff is incredibly attentive and friendly. We always recommend Azur to visitors in Lexington. Great patio in springtime/summer. Lexington is fortunate to have the cutting edge cuisine that Azur serves. Favorites - gruyere fondue, pimento beer cheese sandwich, sweet potato fries/chips, woven shrimp, lamb burger, grilled chicken sandwich, lexington broil.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Azur the last time we were in Lexington. I hope to make it back again during our current visit. I want to try another order of calamari which we enjoyed as a shared appetizer. Some of their specials have been sounding interesting lately and I want to go back to try something different after having the excellent beef short ribs on our last visit.

We had a fantastic dinner! The hot brown gnocchi starter was great. I had a house salad that was perfection. The woven shrimp entree was both beautiful and delicious. Pork carnitas were incredible. I can not wait to go back!

If the food lived up to the prices, it would be incredible. Making dishes out of odd ingedients doesn't always work and the chef seems more interested in being unusual than in the excellence the prices would make you hope for....

Located in a strip mall, it's not exactly where you would think to find fine dining. We went for lunch. The lamb burger was perfect. Really tasty. Regular fries and truffle fries were great - match stick kind. Like all good food places, awful beer options on tap. Whey can't good food understand craft beer? Otherwise, great, and we're going back.

Dinner was 4/5 star, music & setting were 5/5 star. Best dinner pieces were bruschettta app, lobster crepes, salad w beets & strawberries, and cobbler dessert. Patio setting and live jazz were excellent. $110 for 3, incl 2 cocktails, 2 good wines and 1 dessert. Yum.

Coming home from San Francisco to the motherland of Kentucky has always been a bit of a culture shock from a culinary perspective... but I can honestly say that the shock has been eased by two wonderful restaurants: Azur and Holly Hill Inn. I'll review the Holly Hill Inn in another separate review. Azur is a bit of Napa Valley in the heartland of Kentucky. Actually, it's a lot of Napa Valley --- close your eyes, take a bite, wake up and you might think you're at Mustards bistro in Napa Valley... that's an honest comparison. I've now been here 3 times, and each time it just gets better. My most recent dinner was spent with my folks and wife, and here's what we had: ahi tuna carpaccio: thinly sliced , raw sashimi grade ahi in a tasty marinade... excellent. Only wish there was more of it. Steamed artichoke: tasty -- simple, yet great for its simplicity. The roast duck: fantastic -- one of the best ducks I've sampled. Cooked to perfection. Move over KFC.... Kentucky may be famous for Azur's Roast duck! Miso Ahi: One of the standard California style sashimi grade ahi, seared.... but Azur takes another step and wraps it in a crispy wonton wrapper... never seen this in the SF Bay Area, but take note Napa Valley --- Azur does it right on! Pan Fried Kampachi: For those of you who don't know, Kampachi is amberjack -- super tasty when it's fresh. Fresh means $$$. But, Azur knows this and delivers fresh, Hawaiian Kampachi... this was perfectly cooked and not fishy AT all (means it must be fresh). The goat cheese risotto was incredible. Hearty risotto with some awesome fresh greens. I think they were snow pea sprouts, but I can't be for sure. I've NEVER seen this vegetable in KY before. Only in CA. The mushrooms with the risotto were excellent. Vegetable Medley: this was the only one we didn't care for. It was well-seasoned, but a bit on the oily/greasy side. Bite Size desserts: What a great idea at 1 dollar each. 3 bite size samples were more than enough: Bourbon cookies with ice cream: Awesome. Ice cream was light, with hints of cinnamon and vanilla. Poached pear: tasty... a bit too sweet for me, but excellent Peach bread pudding: excellent. I think next time I'm going big size on the peach bread pudding alone. Or... no maybe I'd go with three cookies. On second thought... you can't go wrong. I've met the owner each time I've been there. He's the one in the blazer with a white beard. He knows he's hit the niche in Lexington that foodies and transplants from New York and California have yearned for. But, hitting the niche isn't enough. He's always trying to improve the place. For example... the live music tonight was Grover Mollineaux.... this guy was incredible. Jack Johnson look out. Mark my words: local guitarist/singer Grover Mollineaux will be on to bigger things. I bought his CD tonight and then decided to buy two more to give to friends in California. I used to be afraid of the food shock when coming home to Lexington from San Fran. No more. Lexingtonians take solace in knowing that the 30-40 dollar meal you just had at Azur would cost you easily upwards of 70 dollars in Napa Valley --- and Azur's quality and innovation are on par with the most famous and popular of Napa Valley's bistros. The only knock against Azur is the strip mall location, but we are in Lexington... and what's NOT in a strip mall in Lexington these days? SOLID FIVE stars for bringing what Lexington needed so desperately. Azur and Holly Hill Inn... I will be seeing you on a regular basis when I come home to the motherland... and will actually be excited to eat in Lexington! My advice: go to Azur and look for a day when Grover Mollineaux is playing there. You won't be disappointed. Lexington is no longer bland Big Boy/ Golden Corral/ Big Chain Applebee's & Chilil's....it has finally expanded its culinary breadth and moved into innovative, new California-style cuisine. THANK YOU, AZUR!

Service was deplorable at best. Ate a late lunch so the restaurant was near empty. Took 15 min for the waitress to take my order. Forgot my water and when she finally brought it they never refilled it. Had to choke down the second half of my mediocre food. About the food it is average but then again it is hard to mess up grilled salmon. Took another 10 min to get her attention after I was finished to get the check. Did I mention it was dead. I would understand if they had a late lunch rush and were understaffed.

If you are looking for a quick, inexpensive meal, this is not the place. Azur is a restaurant where you should go when you want to splurge a bit, and when you want truly good and interesting food. I went here with my girlfriend the day before Valentine's Day when they had a four course prix-fixe menu. The flavor combinations were delectable. In particular, I enjoyed my entree of pan-seared scallops, over goat cheese mashed potatoes, drizzled with a mango puree sauce. The sweetness of the sauce was a perfect contrast with the strong flavors of the goat cheese, and the scallops were cooked to perfection. If you are a food-lover like me, this place is worth the money.

Wonderful food and great ambiance. When I need to take clients to dinner, I know that the Azure experience will be a good one. When relaxed conversation over an excellent meal is called for, Azure is the place.

Made a visit at random and went two more times within the week. The Lamb Burgers are unbelievable for lunch. Service is always top notch Dinner service and food was excellent with great flavors and "adult" portions. Highly recommend. Stands out among the best and most unique in Lexington.

So actually a friend and I went to this restaurant after finding it on Yelp here. We had the cheese fondue as a starter, which was AMAZING! The main dishes were fine, a bit over priced, but good. The decor was very hip and trendy but I think this place suffers from its location. We noted everyone was in the above 40 suburbanite category, so not much of a social scene like other trendy restaurants in Lexington. I wouldn't be my first pick but it's a nice option to have.
