High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.

I know it's so hard to review a chain but this Applebee's is very good. The people who work here are all very nice and service is fast. I've never had to wait for a table here either. When I go I usually always go for happy hour because of the half off appetizers and drinks. This trip I had the wonton tacos, they were so good! They were a wonton wrapper that had been deep fried into the shape of a taco shell, filled with chicken that tasted like it had a teriyaki sauce on it and a kind of cloeslaw on top. Applebee's is a great cheap place just to relax with a beer and watch the game. Just make sure you get some of those tacos, they are great!

I wish I could see this was a good Applebee's, but in the past few months it has gone downhill tremendously. Poor, slow and incompetent service is what i have experienced the past few times i have been there. Recently I waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged by a server, then toward the end of our meal we waited 20 minutes for our check. It's very sad, because it used to be wonderful!

Service was way too slow, had to leave. Had to head out to Smashburger due to the slow service. We waited about 15 minutes at the table and to me that was long enough.

Had no real complaints here. Just got appetizers and a beer because it's happy hour and they are half off. Our server was Tabatha D. And was very present and helpful. Was going to give a 4 star because of its standardness but she earned the extra star for them. Very helpful even offering up graham crackers for out baby. Food was good and a great price with the happy hour. And if your leaving a bad review just because they are a cooperation then you don't know how to Yelp. If you don't like to eat at franchise businesses then don't go to franchise businesses.

Great food, great service. Although a chain, who cares? The food is very good. My only real complaint is the remodel... I absolutely despise the new modern design. It's just so bland now. But as long as you ignore the hideous new modern building... Everything else is great.... Please restaurants, listen... SIMPLICITY IS BORNING, NOT MODERN!!!

I used to enjoy coming here weekly with my family since the place opened years ago. Recently the place has gone downhill completely. Several times they have taken a long time to come and get my order whether it was busy or not. Once or twice management would help. They also would place my family of 6 into small cramped places which is understandable but every once in a while I'd like to eat comfortably. When they had 10 cent wings after midnight, it was literally chaos in there. I would constantly get cold wings and a few times I was told they were out which sucked because it was the only reason I was there. After complaining once on the website, for a family of 6, upper management gave me a 25 dollar gift card to try and come back. Two people can barely eat on that much. I wasn't going to use it because I never wanted to go again, but I decided to use it for the carry out service. I had never done the curbside carry out but I didn't want to go back in. When I got home, literally everyone's food was cold. I also went one time and the waitress told my girlfriend that there was no cucumber on a dish she ordered (she is allergic) and she got the dish and there was in fact cucumber. Luckily, she caught it. Needless to say I won't be going back.

We went because my husband won a gift card at work. We live in Newport, and considered going to the Crestview Hills one but found out that this was closer. I wish we stuck to the original plan. We waited a very long time to order and get our food (yes it was a Friday night, but still), it was freezing, the music was too loud, and they had to move us to another booth because our original one had a leak above it. The food was ok, but the one bright spot was our server. I wish I remembered her name because she was really great at diffusing the situation with humor and pleasantness.

Don't know why this address shows as Newport. This Applebees is located in the heart of Highland Heights directly across from the Highland Heights Post office and NKU. But I digress. Stopped in Saturday night 9p for a light meal with the Mrs. and a friend. We were seated quickly. Drink orders taken menus distributed all in a timely manner. We were surprised to see a live 3 pc band setting up to play. This could be interesting. How could we possibly enjoy our company conversation and a meal with a band blaring in our ears. Food order was taken just as the band started an acoustic set of 70s classics. Very nice no loud music nice background favorites. The chicken tender appetizers arrived. Something happened in transit to the the Saratoga chips so a second comp order arrived. I never really understood what happened but hey if its free and comped its for me. Enjoyable conversation continued the atmosphere was very conducive to hanging out. The main orders came as promised. Mine was steak, baked and cheesey corn all good the Mrs. had Barbecue ribs and our friend Ryan had a salad. All very good cooked to order and satisfying. Most of the ribs and left over chicken tenders went in to a Go box for Sunday dinner. The band finished its first set just as we finished our meal. One of the band members walked by and said hi we thanked him for his music. His Name was Bobby Heck he thanked us and moved on. As I mentioned if we were not headed out to hear another band in Newport we would have lingered for another set. We will return.

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
