Victorian Quarters Bed & Breakfast

Reviews:
I couldn't be more pleased with my experience with Victorian Quarters. I was in Henderson for a family funeral and decided I'd rather stay in some place homier than a hotel. We were so pleased as Victorian Quarters was beautiful, elegant, and perfect. The rooms are tastefully decorated. The owner, Coy, was warm and accommodating. We arrived very late and she waited up for us and still was up early to make and serve us a delicious breakfast in her lovely dining room. Coy was flexible with our crazy schedule and allowed us to keep our belongings there on our check-out day--much later than a hotel would have allowed. I found the price to be very reasonable too (possibly less than local chain hotels, but I'm not sure on that). Although we weren't there long enough to use them, the rooms had kitchenettes and there was an above-ground pool on site. If you are visiting Henderson, I highly recommend staying at this elegant, centrally-located Bed & Breakfast.

Rick’s Una Pizza

338 S Green St
Henderson, 42420
Reviews:
Take note up front - if you're looking for a drive thru "hot and ready" pizza, Rick's may not be for you. If you're looking for quality pizza that you can share with your friends, a pizza that can be the centerpiece of your evening, then read on. Rick's is going to take a little longer to get, and you're going to pay a little more, but the pizza you get is well worth both. I called on a Friday night, right at supper time. I was expecting a wait, so I called before the family got hungry. I ordered the all meat pizza, which had been recommended to me. Upon placing the order, I was told it would be about an hour and ten minutes (again, I expected it due to the time of my order being during the supper peak). We took some time doing things with the kids, ran a couple of errands, and then headed to pick up. Now, Rick's is located on the corner of one of our busiest local streets - Green Street, and the parking area is very small (one car, parked diagonally). Accessibility is best by hitting MLK on the east side of Green Street and heading west, parking along MLK. Very quick and easy in and out. The pizzeria itself is physically small, so if someone is at the counter picking up, don't crowd the door. Just hang on, because service is super fast and you won't be left standing around. I picked up my pizza from a very friendly and interactive staff. The large pizza and an order of pepperoncinis came to 23 bucks and change. When I picked up my pizza to leave, I was shocked at the weight. This was going to be a substantial task to take this thing down. We weren't disappointed in our anticipation. The pizza was cooked perfectly, with a nice ring of thin, brown crust flaking round the outside edge. Fresh mozzarella and huge meatballs made the pizza a visual feast. Under the cheese, the bacon and pepperoni waited in just the right amount of sauce. I've never had a pizza with more meat on it than this one. Admittedly, my knock on pizza is always the cheese. Not so with this Rick's pizza. Just the right amount of natural tasting cheese. Not a hint of processing on any ingredient on this pie. And the usual grease problem that plagues a meat pizza was not an issue due to the careful preparation and handling that the toppings get prior to going on your pizza. It was as delicious as it was filling. When I got full, I was actually sorry that I had to stop eating it. The next day for lunch, popped the last remaining pieces into a non-stick skillet, and we knocked out the rest. Rick's pizza will definitely be our first choice for pizza from here on. Next time, we intend to get a different offering (have to try them all to decide which our favorite is), and maybe add a stromboli. As I said up front - if you just want to "grab a pizza", you have other options. But if you're looking for a classic pizza experience right here at home - there's only one place to go!

Delicious, authentic New York style pizza. This place has pizza different than any where else you will find in Henderson. Pizza is thick, warm, and the ingredients/toppings always taste fresh. For an appetizer, try the rice balls. They are unique and a good plus to your meal. The only downside of this place is the wait time. Since everything is cooked fresh, it takes a while. This has definitely become one of my favorite pizza places!
Great little place to go for a slice. It's also nice to see a different style of pizza around here. I'm from Chicago and I've never been to New York, but this place knows what they are doing. They use quality ingredients with real mozzarella (not that pre shredded junk). I also like that they don't try to mask the flavor of their pizza with tons of toppings and their crust is excellent. I haven't tried their other food, but I plan on it. Also, you got to like a place where you can see them making your food and the chef wears garlic bread chef pants.
Parents insisted on taking me here when I came home to visit. SO good and a much-needed change from the cracker thin square pizza that was/is at every other establishment in the tri-state. High quality!

J & B Barbecue & Catering

48 S Holloway St

Reviews:
off the beaten path, but worth the detour. this place was suggested by a local. some of the most tender ribs i've ever had. and ribs are one of my own specialties! the potato salad was absolutely insane - big chunks of red potato with the best dressing i've ever tasted. the cole slaw was equally excellent - just the right combination of tang & sweetness. everything we tried (ribs, pulled pork, smoked chicken) was moist, tender, expertly smoked and perfectly seasoned. don't forget the great sweet tea! we'll be back!!!
Very good! Moved away from Henderson years ago but constantly come back to visit family. On our last visit my husband stumbled upon J & B and asked to try it out. His "trying it out" consisted of buying one of nearly everything on the menu... Can't think of one item someone did not like. All were great, some better than others but all good. I'm sure this will be a MUST-stop for my husband during each family visit now!
This place is a definite gem ... As you look for the joint, don't be thrown off that's in a neighborhood of single family homes. ... Awesome food ... Nice folks ... Incredible prices. I had the sampler platter with pulled pork, a rib and some turkey (it was too cold to make the pit chicken) and it was absolutely tasty. This place could go head to head with any bbq joint.

Lucy Bella’s Pizzeria

Excellent pastas. The lasagna has tons of cheese. Pizza is thin crust. I have tried a variety of the sandwiches and pastas all have been great. My favorite pasta is the lasagna. Best sandwich is the Stromboli. Favorite pizza is the Hawaiian Delight. We have also had them cater and even though it was over 30 minutes away the lasagna was still so hot you had to blow on it. Great place. Pick up or delivery.
Excellent pizza and friendly staff and owners who were there working when I went in. I recommend the buffalo chicken pizza. With all the chains around it's great to see a real local restaurant. They have a good variety with sandwiches and pasta as well as pizza.
My mil who is elderly asked for spaghetti and Lucy Bella's is very close by. I ordered an individual serving of spaghetti with meatball and cheese, both of these are extra, $1 each. The total was $8 with one small piece of bread and no salad. I have not tasted their food and I don't think I will as it is too expensive. It seems they are making up for their lackluster business by charging too much. Come on Lucy spaghetti is dirt cheap to make.

Applebee’s

Reviews:
We were driving through and stopped at Applebee's. Brandi, the bartender, was great. She was so nice, informative and genuinely happy with working for Applebee's. She is the type of employee every employer wishes for. And more importantly, she is the type of person that will bring customers back! Great people person. We had dinner later, and the meal was good. Our waitress was busy but very attentive and friendly.
Ready for along wait for your food? Because that's what you are in for at this Applebee's. It was my grandmother's 96th birthday - yes, the restaurant staff was aware of the nature of our occasion - and we waited for more than an hour for our food. When we complained, we were told, "Sorry, but we're really rushed. Everyone came in at the same time for lunch." I looked around the restaurant and it was half empty. Other tables got their food before us. One of our party had to leave without eating. The restaurant took his meal off our bill, without our asking, and that was nice. But cold, late food? No, that's unacceptable. When I shared this experience with others in Henderson, I was always told the same thing, "Oh, yes, we had that experience too and that's why we don't go there."
I have always enjoyed my experiences here. This is where my family and I eat when they come in from out of town. Always have friendly staff and quick service.

This bakery has recently changed ownership but I heard that the new owner worked for the previous owner and the donuts are the same and are still delish! You have to get there early because they run out of donuts quickly. Not sure if they are cautious and dont make many or it they are slammed very early in the morning. The new name is Chewy's. My family thinks they should have a person dressed like a wookie outside directing people in. :}
