Biggby Coffee

I live within walking distance to this place, which could be really bad, but I try to control myself. I would choose Biggby over a Starbucks ANY day of the week. The shop is cozy, the menu is simple and fun, and the staff is always super pleasant and fast with my order. I'm a sucker for the iced treats, but everything is easily customized to your preference. This is a chain out of Michigan, but doesn't feel like one, and we were so excited that the only one down here so close to our apartment! If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping in to Biggby for a delicious treat! You won't. Be disappointed!
My FAV coffee place. Everything is deee-lish. If you go in more than once, they remember your name. So friendly, and they make conversation while making your drink, which makes the (itty bitty) wait time fly by. LOVE this place. Not sure if all locations are as friendly, but I would and do recommend everyone over here.
I fell in love with Biggby a few summers ago when studying for the bar. The owner was so friendly and would frequently bring me iced water as I studied on the patio. The coffee comes in a number of delicious varieties and there is something for everyone whether you like it simple and black or like a morning dessert. They have mocha Monday's with discounted drinks that are perfect to take with you to treat your coworkers. If you want to support local businesses pick biggby. I promise you will fall in love with the friendly barristas and best owners around.

Love PeeWee's!! Friendly staff, ICE COLD BEER and delicious food! Mondays work lunch for $5 burgers and fries and our go to for the Bengals games on Sundays! Pee Wee generously provides a FREE food bar during the game! Could be gumbo and soups or taco/nacho bar or cheese coney day! Family friendly and we usually have a cornhole game going out back during halftime. So happy football season is back upon us! See ya'll Sunday at PeeWee's!!! Save me a pitcher of PBR! :-)
Not a good place for getting a healthy lunch. The staff didn't get our order correct. The salads are all iceberg. Spring mix is not iceberg! The food was meh. I feel like i have to come here for onion rings and burgers but haven't tried it so cant recommend.
This place has good food and a casual atmosphere. Great place to drink a few with friends. Breakfast served @ 7 and they have Goetta!!!

Oriental Wok

317 Buttermilk Pike
Fort Mitchell, 41017
Reviews:
Tonight we were looking for good Chinese food, and we are SO happy we chose Oriental Wok! To start out, we got there a little late... 20 min before closing... and they seated us no problem. The service was wonderful! As we walk in we are greeted by a red and gold archway, and water features with koi swimming tranquilly. It is beautiful! The special "beer" was a ginger beer that was just fantastic, and the lychee martinis were to die for. The food was fantastic! The best eggrolls I've had in years. I'm a real pot sticker snob, and these were amazing! They have a special of two regular menu options with soup and choice of rice that is more than plenty for 1.5 people. My partner got the special of the evening (orange roughy rolled with shrimp and asparagus and steamed, then seared; served on a bed of wilted spinach with a mushroom broth that was deliciously earthy!). The owner of almost 40 years greeted us and chaufferred us through our meal. He also made me a special dessert based on my dietary needs (Crohn's disease) and it was amazing! Basically: Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Well worth your time! A great step out of the strip-mall chinese take-outs of our time. ***** UPDATE: We went again this evening for a special night out, and were thrilled with the service, the food, and especially the ambiance! They were celebrating the Chinese New Year. Being Year of the Horse they had carriage rides, and also a mini petting zoo with adorable small horses! They had wonderful performances all evening of traditional Chinese music, dances, and theatricals. Definite MUST for anyone in the Cincy/NKY area! Still ***** * * *
The oriental wok was delicious and cheap. The prices were very reasonable for how great the atmosphere and service was. I ordered the beef and broccoli and it was amazing. I hope people stop here more and experience the great things this restaurant is doing.
It was just ok. Over seasoned and overpriced. The atmosphere was a little strange. Server forgot fortune cookies with bill.

Kocanut Joe’s Frozen Yogurt

2479 Dixie Hwy
Fort Mitchell, 41017
Reviews:
If you like frozen yogurt, this is the place to come. It's a short ten minute drive from the airport area hotels, but Kocanut Joe's is also right next door to a seemingly popular neighborhood bar called Saddle Club. It's a good stop for a night to check out some local flair. I mainly came here because I'm watching my calories and another reviewer mentioned they posted nutritional facts above each yogurt tap. I took some pics to show you Yelpers what exactly that means. They provide not just calories (per ounce) but also some other key nutritional facts and ingredients. I felt the choices of favors was far superior to what I have in Atlanta. The Funky Monkey and Sea Salt Caramel flavors were most appealing to me. I wanted to taste test more flavors but they were closing up shop and these two were fantastic. I put as little as I could in the cups (while still feeling like I was getting something), and put no toppings, and I was at 7.3oz- just about 300 calories. So yeah- watch that yogurt coming out of the taps! The Sea Salt was the big winner here. Although I love all things ice cream + toffee (funky monkey) I felt the sea salt flavor really packed a lot of punch. It really didn't need any toppings to be delicious. Both yogurts were creamy, not watery/icy, like I've experienced at other froyo places. Their toppings looked fresh but it appears they have done away with the crank cases. Fine by me- but just so other know. Total cost was $3.50-ish. There was a Yelp check-in deal for 10% off but I felt silly using it on such a small purchase. If you're paying for a family, however, it's probably worth your while. Overall- this place is definitely worth checking out!! Great flavors.
Out of the many frozen yogurt joints that are multiplying like bunnies lately, Kocanut Joes is my absolute favorite. And I'm not just saying that because it's within walking distance from work either ;) The staff and owners are very welcoming and the surfer atmosphere makes it summer all year round. I love the feeling of helping out a local business, and I get a tasty treat while doing so. If you are in or near Fort Mitchell I would suggest stopping by for a healthier alternative to ice cream. Don't worry, they have lots if add-ons to make it less healthy if you like.
As with all my yogurt reviews, I'm pretty picky. If the yogurt ain't real, no 5-stars. We found Kocanut Joe's on my favorite review site, Yelp! You heard of it? It was pretty highly rated and on our way home, we had not visited before - so we decided to give it a try. You'll see the dispensers and cups right away when you walk in. There's about 8 flavors that you can combine to make specially-designated combos (as with 95% of yogurt shops hitting the midwest right now). Yogurt is sold by weight, .45c/oz. Check-in for 10% off coupon with Yelp! I had a cherry amaretto and some fruit on top. The flavors were not super exotic, but were paired well. The most interesting: rice krispie treat. Somehow that combined with another to make birthday cake. Somehow. Outdoor seating is limited, but available. The decor of this place matches the name...bring a sharpie to mark your name on the wall. Or draw a picture. As I said in the intro: not real yogurt? No 5-stars. Joe's tastes good, but it's not tangy and doesn't have the real-yogurt tartness to it. It's not *alive,* if you catch what I'm saying. It's glorified soft serve, y'all.

This is a cash only dive bar with a awesome dart board. You will smell like a walking cigarette when you leave, but I had a good time at this place. The people were friendly, the jukebox was digital with a good, new selection. There are plenty of TVs and usually at least one has on horse racing. A pool table that seemed nice, although I didn't play.

This is now on my rotation to visit. I goto the gym at Better Bodies and stop once or twice a week. I was never a fan of Eastern Panda but this new management/owner is great. The service is great and the owner (Eileen i believe it is) really seems to care. They made some coconut shrimp and gave me for free also which was very nice. The best part though is if you sit in they make these very beautiful decorative birds, butterflys, etc. which I love. I think it's a nice touch which sets it apart from the other Chinese restaraunts around, plus it's very clean. Smile, cleanliness and little extra perks I rate this as my new favorite Chinese takeout. I really enjoyed the Crystal Chicken. The brown rice was actually perfect also! I actually like them more than Oriental Wok.
It is unfair that this place has to carry the reviews from its predecessor on this site. Eastern Panda it is not. It is now clean and inviting. The food portions havef grown by at least 25%. The hot and sour soup actually has flavor. I'm happy to see the change here.
Food was awesome. I was reluctant to try a new place but I was glad I did. We will be eating there on a regular basis.

Montgomery Inn

400 Buttermilk Pike
Fort Mitchell, 41017
Reviews:
The most profound aspect of Montgomery in was the amazing service I received.each server was attentive to my needs, even though they were not at my table. The busters deserve medals, as I see them running around constantly, but more importantly I'd like to say that the food was amazing. The title of ribs king is rightfully given, as the ribs were phenomenal. The atmosphere was nice and the prices reasonable, I'd suggest this restaurant for anyone traveling on I-75 and are hungry for good food.
My boyfriend was in town visiting so I made sure to bring him to Montgomery inn to show him what I was talking about. The sauce at Montgomery inn speaks for itself and helps to make everything taste better! The ribs are amazing, you can't go wrong but if your looking to change things up I recently had the crab cakes which are awesome or the duck. The duck was so crunchy and delicious, the crab cake was exactly that CRAB! No fouling around with extra fillers and stuff just a lot of CRAB!!
I heard wonderful things about this restaurant from local residents, so when my cousin said she would pick me up at my hotel in Florence for dinner at the Montgomery Inn, I was in high anticipation all day! We were immediately seated upon arrival and offered beverages. The specials were also brought to our attention. I ordered the Ribs / Crab Cake Combo with a side of Chopped Brussels Sprouts cooked with Bacon and Onion. I immediately devoured the Crab Cake and Brussels Sprouts. I took longer to polish off the meaty Ribs. I forgot to mention that we were provided bibs to protect our clothing, which was a nice touch. I are everything on my plate! No room for dessert. :-) Will be back the next time I am in the area!

Average Joes Bar and Grille

405 Buttermilk Pike Crsnt Pkwy
Fort Mitchell, 41017
Reviews:
It delivers what the name promises: an A-OK, average bar. Located right next to the Fort Mitchell Graeters, I've driven past Average Joes numerous times and had no idea it was there until some friends invited me out one night. Average Joes is a blue collar, place to escape after work kind of bar. You won't find specialty cocktails, craft beer, or even root beer at this place. Miller Lite and Budweiser are the brews of choice, as well as flavored vodka. My friends like this place because of the $2.50 bourbon and Cokes and $3.00 pints. It's an easy way to drink cheap. They also have bags of chips and pretzels for sale for 50 cents each. That's a nice touch. While this is a smoking bar, being in Kentucky, my friends and I opted to sit on the patio which we had all to ourselves. This made for a pleasant night; the company definitely made my Average Joes experience better. Come winter, I doubt I'll be back simply due to the cigarette stench. It was pretty intense inside and I'd rather not have to wash my coat after each visit. If you're a blue collared, Budweiser, and cigarette enjoyer, Average Joes is your five star bar. Price per drink: $2.50
How have I not reviewed this terrible, terrible establishment yet? It's a travesty I tell you. What is Joe's? Well, it's the type of place you go when you simply don't care and just want to get trashed. That's something easy to accomplish considering how cheap the drinks are. Before you even think it, this is not a hipster hang out. This is where all the friends you forgot about in high school come to drink and watch the game and blow off steam when their shift ends at whatever factory they work at. Warning, this place is loud, smoky and can be absolutely insane. That's definitely it's charm though. The bartenders will come to know you quickly and you'll rarely need to ask for a double. Just don't come in expecting anything fancy. Joe's also has karaoke some days and it's highly amusing to come watch the locals belt out some Journey. All in all, there are much worse places to get drunk in.
I'm pretty much an expert in getting drunk here. Some things to know is that the owners are there a lot, and are very sociable. Tell them I say hello! The bar attracts a somewhat older clientèle, but on the weekends you can usually find younger people there as well. They have a trivia night in a Jeopardy like style, to which "hairy balls" is always an acceptable answer. Karaoke nights are best to be avoid. Now, I love these people to death, but I don't think even Autotune would help. There is intense ear rapage happening here, so you'd best take a seat outside on karaoke night. They also have a guitar player, who drinks as well as he plays. Tell him "Fire in the hole", and he'll certainly respond back with the same. I don't really know what this means exactly, (no live grenades that I'm aware of) but I'll be damned if it's not fun to say. Their patio is awesome, and is usually where the younger folks hang out. Sometimes there is enough parking, but it may get a little dicey on Fridays and Saturdays. There's an insurance place next door that has not minded (as of yet) when people park there. Sorry insurance place, I hope you're cool with that. Overall a nice, local watering hole with great service and hot bartenders.

Empire Buffet

570 Clock Tower Way
Fort Mitchell, 41017
Reviews:
This Chineese buffet is a good place to get the best bang for your buck. If you like a good Chineese buffet, you'll enjoy the variety of food on the bufet at Empire. They have four bars with traditional Chineese fare to some American fare, with a full sald bar and sushi bar. They also have a dessert bar and a cooler with self-serve hand-dipped ice cream! Great for families on a budget, especially for lunch. Empire Buffet charges roughly the same as your other run of the mill Chineese buffets, but with a lot more options. Everything tastes great, and I will be sure to go back next time I'm craving a great Chineese buffet!
I am a bit of a Chinese food snob, and when it comes to buffets in the NKY area many leave a lot to be desired. Empire is amazing because for the same price as other area buffets, there is easily twice the selection on the buffet. The food is fresh and quality of food and service is consistent. The hibachi grill and sushi offerings are fresh and delicious, and they even have six different flavors of Blue Bunny ice cream for dessert, which is great for kids. The buffet also has amazing super cheesy pizza, great if you have picky kids (or adults). My personal faves here are the sweet coconut shrimp, duck, broccoli chicken, and the crab rangoon. Be sure to try the egg drop soup, which is just absolutely wonderful.
I'm going to make this short and sweet! As far as Chinese buffets go ( frankly not a huge fan of any of them) this was good! Large selection of asian dishes, hibatchi, sushi, salad bar, american cuisine & desserts.. Overall, a good value and worth the 15 min. drive into NKY for a Chinese Buffet, if that's what you're after...
