Itty Bitty French Fries! Ok here is the thing. It's not fine dining. But it's fast food with a diner feel. The menu is varied enough that you can certainaly find something you like. I love the Carolina Slaw dog and That Boy is a fan of the chicken fingers. They also make delicious milkshakes. The service is really dependent on your waiter. Two times we have gotten this one guy, and he is really amazing, especially considering his young appearance and the fact that he works at Steak 'n Shake. I wish i could remember his name but I'm always terrible at that. Anyways. Not everyone is a fan, but for late night or a quick lunch I'm never really let down. Plus I love the little bitty fries. I'm a sucker for small food.

Terrible service. Waited 20 minutes in drive thru and order was completely wrong and didnt get our drinks. How hard is it to ask people what they want, take money, and hand "correct" food to customer. The people that work here are lazy, dumb as hell, and rude.

I'd give this place zero stars if possible! It had been over a year since my last visit and with good reason. This time was no better. 15 minutes to be seated, another 10 for our server to recognize she had a table seated in her section, another 45 for food to come out.... The killer, 15 minutes standing at the register for someone to check us out!!! Ridiculous!!! Had there not been cameras there I'd have walked out! Save your time and money and go elsewhere!

Took my daughter and her friend in for lunch on a snow day from school. The place was absolutely packed. Took a while to be seated and even longer to be acknowledged by a waitress. My daughter and I have always loved Steak N Shake. We are huge fans of cheese fries. I ate them almost everyday day the last month of my pregnancy when I lived in Indianapolis. Which is probably why she loves them too. We all ordered vanilla cokes which we also love but they were all very bland. They are usually heavy with the vanilla syrup but not this day. We all had something different to eat but all equally good. Although we were all a little sick to our stomachs later but we should have expected that when we chose greasy lunch food. The waitress was nice but the service was just so so slow. And the place is in dire need of a good scrubbing. The floor was filthy and none of us wanted to see what might be in the bathroom.

They are open 24 hours and satisfy your need for a good burger and an even better milkshake. The prices are already pretty reasonable and they always seem to have coupons around. I've only had good experiences with the service and food. I'm not a huge fan of their really thin fries, but it is what it is. I'm suddenly craving a Jalapeno Crunch burger.. don't write reviews on an empty stomach!

The restaurant was nasty when we arrived and it took them a while to clean it. It took them a while to seat us and get our food and milkshakes to us. The waitress was the only good part about the whole thing (and Brittany gets 5 stars for being good). My parents and I had to listen to one of Brittany's coworkers be a whiny brat and a trouble maker the whole time. It was so bad that even my mom complained loudly enough for the waitress in question to hear my mom state that the waitress "needed to go whine in the back, where customers can't hear the waitress whining about table coverage and people doing their jobs." I agree with my mom -- the waitress needed to go in the back and complain -- we did NOT "need" to hear about the waitress' malfunction on table coverage. I think that it was extremely unprofessional on the waitress' part and she needs to be coached on refraining from complaining on the floor or within earshot of the customers or she needs to be shown the door.

0 STARS. Worst steak and shake location, actually no, worst drive thru food location. I expect to wait at a steak and shake, I do not however expect to long enough to consider suicide over a milkshake. My milkshakes are usually decent from here but my food is always a miss! They never give you a full order of fries, the burgers need to be blotted with napkins to clear enough grease just so you can hold the damn thing. I love other steak and shakes, but this one needs a complete overhaul of their staff.

Typically burger place. Parmesan cheese fries were good. Waitress, Abby was ok. Never came back after we got our meals. Burgers were good but only warm. Not hot. Got what I paid for. It's not fine dining. Reconsidered after I paid the check and dropped it a star. Manager never spoke as we paid because he was on the phone while ringing us out. That's just rude. I'll go to Mad Mikes from now on.

My time is worth more than a bowl of soup. Last time here. Last visit left without ordering. No management presence at all. Order lost. Handwritten and lost. Counting seconds. Sad. And insulting.

Friends invited us to meet at this location. After tonight's visit, it's no surprise that this Steak & Shake is rated so low. Our visit was plagued with forgotten drinks, forgotten milkshakes, forgotten food, and foreign items in food. We weren't given kids menus. The kids that did order kids food didn't get the paper cars & hats that they enjoy. It took 45 min to get milkshakes, food came about 10 min later. Simple things like napkins, straws & water had to be asked for multiple times. Food was cold. So much oil on the bottom of plates that fingers looked as if they had been dipped in oil. Had to get paper towels from the bathroom to wipe hands, after having asked for napkins (not a single one given to our table,) multiple time. Will never go back.

Any time I visit this location it is almost a year before I consider attempting it again, usually in some vain hope that something has changed - staffing, service, cleanliness.... Tonight was no different. I was craving a milkshake after leaving work at 2am, and thought that the typical wait and poor service would be worth it. Six cars parked in the drive-thru gave me a crazy notion that going inside might be a better option. After 15 minutes waiting at the counter for service (along with two other customers) and staff never leaving the back of the kitchen, I left. Maybe next year.....

Gotta tell ya this place has slowly gone down hill. I went in there a week ago about 5 pm and I was shocked at the appearance of the place. The floors were dirty and slippery, I slipped a couple of times just walking to my table. There didn't seem to be enough workers, seemed to be a lot of confusion. I had to wait quite a while for a waitress then for my food. The food was what I'd expect from a place like this, it wasn't bad. Wife and I have decided we won't be back for a while.

Zero stars is too many!!! Kids wanted a milk shake and the mt zion location was closed for what looked like a complete fumigation or something. So in my infinite wisdom i said to myself hey we'll just run up to the road to this location. I know the wait is a bit at steak and shake and with only 4 cars in line I figured 15 min or so was to be expected... well 35 min later we make it to the window. I ordered milk shakes but received milk "drinks". If it hadn't been so late and already being on the highway I think I would have walked inside and made a scene. I think they prepared my shakes right after I ordered and let them sit for 15 min until we made it to the window. They were all VERY thin and not thick like milkshakes usually are. They were not even cold! And I want to say it was the manager that was at the window serving us. The fact that you would let such product go out your window is amazing and shows your lack of respect for your customers. I will NEVER stop at this hole in the wall location ever again!!!

Dirty and Noisy. You think management would get a clue after reading all these reviews but this place is a toilet waiting for a flush. The burgers were cold and the buns were greasy to touch. One star for the pepper sauce but what a disaster

Very poor customer service because they wouldn't let us pull a table up too the booth, so we had to cram into a booth. Also our waitress looked like she was smelling shit the whole time.

Arrived around 10 pm, two other tables occupied, already served. When we are seated, my father, mother and myself each order a milkshake. There are five employees working at the time. It takes them 45 minutes to bring out three milkshakes, one was made incorrectly, in styrofoam cups, as they said they are out of glasses...? Forty five minutes for three shakes. Four. Tee. Five. Minutes. Pathetic.

If I could give zero stars, I would have in this case. The store is filthy... Menus on table were disgusting. Our kids ordered hand dipped ice cream, it came out as sloppy mush. I waitress was not attentive but did at least take the kids ice cream off of our tab. This is essentially why we avoid chain restaurants. Sometimes though with kids this is difficult.

Absolutely the worst customer service. Totally ignored upon entering. 12 customers waiting to be seated without so much as as a hello. Spoke with manager she said " well someone will be with you soon." Waitresses complained about being short staffed but stood around talking ignoring customers. If you want to be ignored and insulted eat here otherwise avoid this place

I don't really expect much from a Steak N Shake but this location is so much worse than any of the others. Never had much of a problem with service at other locations until this one. We waited 30 minutes to sit down, amongst a large crowd of other people, with plenty of tables clean and available, yet no one being seated. No one even realized names were not being taken down. They are completely understaffed and as the lady behind me said, "this is unorganized chaos." We finally sat down, ordered and got waters right away. Thought things would improve, but no. We waited almost 30 more minutes for 2 milkshakes, and then another 20 minutes after that for the food. We even watched another table of 2 walk out after waiting too long for the server to acknowledge them and take their drink order, and other tables waiting even longer than us for drinks, shakes, and food. The floors were dirty and gross and everyone who was working seemed unenthused to be there. Overall, a crappy experience. Luckily the food and shakes were decent. I will choose a different location next time.

0 Stars. Started in the drive tru, the lady comes on and says "I'll be with you in a minute". We wait, 3, 4, 5 minutes with silence so we yell into the thing "hello!?!" and still no answer. In spite of this we decided to go inside to order. We walk in and go up to the counter and see the manager messing with some bacon 5 feet away from us but he doesn't even lift his head to acknowledge our presence. We stand there for a couple of minutes right by the register with employees walking around and no one even says "hello". We walked out and went somewhere else, and we will never be back. I live very close to this place too so they will be losing money for a lifetime.

If I could put zero stars, I would. We have been here for forty minutes and just now received our drinks. We are surrounded by dirty tables, our cups are chipped and appear to be unclean. When our self proclaimed "new and likely to mess up" waitress finally arrived, she informed us that there are three other waitress working, which begs the question, why have we not seen any of them yet? The cooks are surprisingly hard at work even though I look around and see no other tables having their orders taken. After another ten minutes of waiting, a guest in our party finally received his milk shake only to discover the ratio is 1/3 whip cream, 2/3 milk shake. There are napkins and other unclean mystery items strewn about the floor. As we have yet to get our order, which the waitress so eagerly informed us is likely to be incorrect, this post has potential to be much longer. And another guest in our party just returned from the bathroom with more problems, giving me the impression this should not be a yelp post, and should instead be turned into a book on how not to run a restaurant. After another fifteen minutes, we have now received our food with one of our members not receiving her soup or her burger without mayo, and my fries are refrigerator cold. The waitress was right about one thing; she did mess up our order.

Computer issues cause insanely slow service???? Just for shakes to go! Lots of staff, very disorganized. Maybe it was a bad day.

I wasn't impressed with this place at all! The shakes are not made with real quality ice cream. It seems like they use some kind of cheap frozen yogurt. I would recommend Penn Station over this place any day.

This place is filthy and the employees seem to hate working here. Service was slow, as the customer in front of me had a problem with his order. I ordered a plain steakburger to go and the older lady said "cheeseburger" when my order was up. I questioned it and she opened/checked my burger, but held it so the paper around it obstructed my view. She then assured me it was plain. Just got back to the room and found out that her statement was in fact a lie. This Steak 'n Shake is horrible and should be avoided, plenty of better options in the area.

Ick. That's all I can think of when I come here. Ick. Three of us visited here the Sunday after St. Patrick's day to help settle our wine and green beer induced hangovers with the greasy diner food. The food helps.... but wow! Horrible experience. The floors were absolutely NASTY! They were supposed to be white, but were covered in dirt. A little girl fell on the floor while coming back from the bathroom and I cringed when her mother didn't wipe her hands off before placing her back in front of her food. The service isn't even good enough to be considered bad. It's worse than terrible. It's worse than downright awful! We had to wait 15 minutes to be seated (our fault for going at noon- right after all the church goers are swarming onto this place) and then had to wait close to 20 minutes to get our waitress to notice us. The table next to us was seated after us, and had their food before we get our drinks. Our waitress was horrible with people skills and you could tell (um, excuse me- smell) that she had over indulged the previous night and came straight into work. Bottom line- hit the drive thru and don't expect to be served quickly.
