If it was possible to rate 0 stars I would. Came here for my grandmother's 80th birthday and was so incredibly disappointed. Found out they had a prime rib for $14.95, too good to be true right? Definitely! I went ahead and tried it because 1) had been here a few years ago and was so impressed with the food and figured they would do it right and 2) after making sure from the server that rare prime rib was available. Sorely mistaken on ALL fronts. When I received my food, I was taking my nephew to the restroom, so I was not able to respond to the pitiful excuse for a steak on my plate. The server was slammed, despite the plethora of other servers walking around tending to their one or two tables. It took 15-20 minutes for our server to check on our table, which gave the rest of my table a chance to choke down the dry, thin shoe leather that they were too hungry to wait to send back. I finally got tired of waiting when I got another waitress to speak to about my food, she informed me they could only do medium rare (which I beg to differ of that even possibility). Long-story-short, I decided not to get something else because I would have kept the others waiting on me (of course waiting 30 minutes still to leave now, guess I could've) so I just wanted it taken off of my bill. So, here's another problem on top of all of this, my salad wasn't able to be taken off because the server "couldn't get it zeroed out in the computer". I then noticed the $1 charge for water, I asked her about that; she said since I ordered wine she could take that off, but my mother's bill was still charged $1 because she didn't order a drink. To top all of this, no manager was brought to us until we asked for it. Now mind you, I blame NONE of this on my server, this is completely management's fault!!!! Needless to say, I cannot leave this place quickly enough.

I came with a group of friends, and was vastly disappointed. The waitress was extremely rude and the food was cold. I ordered steak and ended up taking most of it home simply so I could heat it up in the microwave. Not impressed. Not worth the price.

Recently had dinner at the Chimney Corner and I struggle to find something positive to say about the experience! Small portions....tough steak .....no bread .....barely warm pasta......really $14.95 for only the small serving of pasta... Salad extra ... a bit overpriced. Don't you think! We have eaten and enjoyed eating here for over thirty years and is now not that way. The last time we were there it wasn't great either. Think we will take our $60 plus dollars this last dinner cost and go else where. Good luck to you if you venture in looking for a great dinner! You'll need it!

The wife and I decided to try out The Chimney Corner for our 22nd anniversary. We had not been there in several years. As it was the holiday season and it was a last minute decision, we called ahead and were seated when we got there. The atmosphere was good with about 75% full that night, but it was quiet enough that we could talk. In a nutshell: 1. The service was good. We never waited too long for anything. Friendly and courteous. 2. The food was excellent, served on time and fresh (hot or cold as need be). My wife's peach chicken was declared very flavorful and not too dry. My brisket was good, not Texas BBQ style, but acceptable with flavor and tenderness. 3. The portions seemed small for the price, but we were both in a happy place (not overfull and not wanting more) after a shared dessert. Over all, we enjoyed our time and dinner there.

Upon entering I was greeted by the owner. He was very friendly and made me feel at home. The atmosphere was nice. The booths looked comfortable. We were seated at a table near the bar. For an appetizer, I got the burgoo. My impression is that it is a fancy name for stew. I did enjoy it and would order it again. For dinner I had the peach chicken. The presentation was very nice. The chicken was pounded thin and not dried out. The portion seemed small to me, but with the bread they bring out and the appetizer and dessert I was full when I left but not uncomfortable. The vegetables that accompanied it were fresh, crisp and had a good flavor. My wife had the chicken pot pie. She said it was just ok. For dessert we had the lava cake. It totally missed the mark. There was no chocolate sauce oozing out at all. Maybe a little syrup drizzled on top, that's it. For the size of the portions the price was more than fair. Given the overwhelming amount of chain restaurants in the area, I would definitely recommend this place if you want something different.

Had a business meeting planned in Ashland one night and wanted to have a local caterer, so chimney corner was my choice. I am new to the area and probably should've weighed my options more. "Chef Paul" did not come across as the most professional person I've worked with, but was nice. He did make sure our dinner was there on time and the food was good. We had cold cuts and pasta salad, so tough to really go wrong. That is, unless it is WAY overpriced. Averaged out to about $20/plate. For cold cuts, pasta salad and a cookie. At the end of the meeting, "chef Paul "came and took all the remaining leftovers without saying a word, although we had paid for it. I was stunned. I will have more of these meetings in the future and find it highly unlikely to choose chimney corner again to cater. Good food, poor service.

My career requires me to travel the country (thus experiencing a wide variety of eateries from all over), still I can say in all honesty that the Chimney Corner is my favorite restaurant anywhere. Perhaps there is a bit of bias and pride since it's a one-of-a-kind hometown establishment, but that shouldn't detract from the fact that The Corner's menu (under the guidance and handiwork of Chef Paul Runnels) is second to none. From amazing appetizers like the Grand Crab Quesadilla or Fondue, to their massive gourmet burgers, to the prime rib or peach chicken dish, you absolutely can not go wrong with their unique options -- and there is something to please everyone, and on any budget -- from a side order of buffalo wings to a full out culinary masterpiece with all the trimmings. (And I can recommend every single dish that the menu has to offer, as I've frequented The Chimney Corner enough to try it all several times over). I can't praise the staff enough for a truly perfect dining experience, atmosphere, and meal...every time. If you're in the Ashland, KY area, this is THE place.

I'm not gonna bore you with a long review you won't read. This is the best place to eat in the area hands down. The entire menu is great and has a great range of prices and selection. I've never been let down by the food or service. Do yourself a favor and come here.

So I went to meet some friends here for the first time. We were surprised to find that we were the only ones not in possession of an aarp card. Yeah, was not the vibe we were looking for. It was ok looking, very subdued but there was the chef and some other people talking by the bar and it was distracting as there was no one really in the place.

First, the wiatress said the bread is served with olive oil and spices for dipping, but the oil is not olive oil - just regular canola oil or something, and the spice is really just minced garlic. I didn't enjoy it, so I asked for butter instead and got a pile of margarine in a dish. This gave a terrible first impression and would be an easy fix. As for the menu, there aren't many options for eating healthy (i.e. lower calorie). The Airline chicken was recommended but was a breaded and fried breast which was really greasy served with tortellini swimming in an oily sauce. Plus, the restaurant and the bar are in the same room. The TVs above the bar are on spoiling any atmosphere a diner might be hoping for. My dining companions had similar complaints about their meals. It is a lovely little spot decorated well, but the experience for me in March 2013 was abysmal,

I went here a few times for their "Beer and Burgers" night and found the food was very good. The beer selection was decent. I did have to go point out which one was the Anchor Steam beer but it's an improvement over the "deer in the headlights" look I usually get when asking about the beer selection at a restaurant.

This used to be the restaurant where old people went to not complain very much after church. A recent chef addition has really spruced it up. Just don't expect them to make authentic tacos for your wedding rehearsal dinner. They don't know what "chorizo" is.
