Since my recent visit to Bud E. Rooster's, I've started paying more attention to the restaurants that more than likely have franchising in mind. Some aren't as upfront about it as those who speak to Carrie Rengers, but you can still tell based upon the amount of money put into the place. Sometimes, even the concept itself implies franchising, as I suspected when I visited Wings & Things' website (warning flag #1 - a restaurant in Wichita has a professionally-maintained site before they open), but confirmed when I entered this slick sports-themed fast food restaurant. Val wasn't anywhere to be found, but the teenagers working the register were somewhat ready to take my order. I thought it was odd that the signage promoted a sauce for garlic and a separate sauce for Parmesan, but when I tried to order the former, I was told it wasn't available. Then I moved to the latter, which also wasn't available, due to it confusingly being the same sauce. Success was found with half a dozen Cajun wings and another half of Raging Hot, the hottest sauce on the menu. Along with my fries, my wings were placed in a Styrofoam container that wouldn't stay closed, which doesn't make for a very good take out order. From the first time you open that container you can see these are frozen wings. Drumettes actually, and nothing but. They were a pretty decent size and were fried to a nice crispy exterior on the outside, though it left the inside quite dry. The sauced Raging wings helped alleviate the dryness of the chicken, but the exterior was no longer crispy because of that same sauce. In terms of heat, it was on par with your normal buffalo sauce, which is to say fairly mild if you're a fan of heat. The fries were frozen, but seasoned well with a custom rub. I'm not against fast food wing places in principle. For many people - myself included a lot of the time - it's as much about the sauce as it is the chicken, and while I can pardon a skin that gave up its texture for the sake of the sauce, the dryness of the meat is an issue. Maybe some of the slickness can be attributed to the football player who purchased the place for his mom, but unless Val at some point actually intended on sharing her cooking with the world, this is nothing but a cash grab. Not a bad one in this wing-barren part of the country, but a grab nonetheless.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food and staff were subpar, even when compared to the other mediocre wing establishments in town. They were slow and got my order wrong, which I could deal with if the food was good; but it wasn't. Save yourself some trouble and eat at buffalo wild wings or hooters. Not that these places have the best food, but they are far better than wings and things.

We tried Wings & Things today and enjoyed it enough to go back. I hope others will try it out so it'll stick around. The building has a clean and modern feel to it -- everything is new looking and one of the employees was cleaning tables while we were there. It's not a big place -- seats maybe 40 -- and there wasn't a crowd about 5:30 on a Saturday night. The two women working the front counter were friendly and explained the menu options to us. They have a couple of large flat screens TVs on the walls with sports on & they had music playing. I sorta expected to see a Kamerion Wimbley high school, college or NFL jersey hanging on the wall since it's his aunt's restaurant, and I think that would give the interior some personality too. We tried four flavors of the breaded & sauced wings -- Val's Sauce, BBQ, Parmesan & Honey Mustard. My husband had an order of 12 that he split half & half. I had the special (6 wings, fries & a drink for $8.99) and they even let me split the six in half so I could try two flavors. The wings were good size, meaty and cooked well. They tasted great although we would prefer a little less sauce. I will likely ask for a light amount of sauce when I go back. I'd also like to try the dry rub versions, and they offer non-breaded wings. Oh, and if you want to try a sauce before ordering it, you can do that! The fries were hot & fresh and had a batter on them -- they were excellent! The menu had other options for non-wing lovers ( wingsandthings.com ). Prices were a little high for a lunch spot but on target with other wing joints in Wichita. I think these wings were a little bigger than the competition and the flavor was definitely bigger. I plan to go back and I hope others will try Wings & Things so this local wing option succeeds!

I wanted to support a local restaurant. It was clean & small. My husband & I both ordered the special. Six wings, fries and a drink. I got the breaded bone in wings with sauce on the side. Hubby's were boneless with sauce on the side. His 6 "wings" were meager, cooked so long that chicken was tough & just had a bad taste. My wings were cooked nicely, but permeated with the same funk as hubby's. We think the wings were doused in either garlic powder or the "special seasoning" that they try to sell. By the way, the fries were cold. We noticed that the 2 women dining next to us were picking their food apart too. We couldn't stomach it anymore and threw our dinners in the trash. I will say that the counter girl was nice.

Typical Wichita, so many restaurants that no one is ever heard of. I was turned on to this restaurant by my wife, and this is hands-down the best barbecued wings in the city, in my opinion. I think they just recently got second place at the wing-a-polooza event in Wichita. Great job guys!

For some reason this place seams like it's a national chain, but then you don't get what you pay for. The prices here are just out of whack with reality. What makes you think 1 chicken wing is worth $1.15? Well actually that's the price for half a wing. The picture on their website of a plate of wings is not at all what you get. Just simple fried fish and wings. Nothing special. Large, frozen wings, made from scratch (if you mean opening a plastic bag and flopping them around a bowl of sauce for a few tosses) Service is very hit or miss. The people working there clearly don't have any interest in making this place great. But they are definitely busy with the take out crowd. Dining in was just an afterthought, and not much thought put into it.

Nothing is quite as spicy as I would have guessed, and the ketchup (for fries) has a distinct honey flavor, but just order a little spicier than normal and you get some great juicy flavorful wings.

we went there after my husband dined at the south location and said it was great. the wings did not have good flavor at all and were hard. the ranch tasted watered down and the fries were not very good but were better than the wings. it was not very busy around 5:30 pm but the wait was super long. won't be back. might try the south location though and hope it's better.

Stopped here one day on a Thursday simply wanting some quick wings and to go back to work. For a fast food Style dining location the service was anything but fast. The girl behind the counter was very nice but everything else took forever to get. I personally am not extremely picky when it comes to food, actually most my posts are very positive, but I really would not come back to wings and things if I could help it! I was pretty excited to try the wings but I absolutely did not enjoy them, I feel like they could have been ok but the sauce was drowning the chicken and made them feel like I was eating little mushy tater tots. The fries were great but the frozen, sauce drowned wings were not!

Went the other day for lunch. Place had a like 2 tables. Music playing was like the volume of a night club on Saturday night (mind you this was Monday lunch) Decorated nice, everything seemed new, but not so clean. The place wasn't filthy, just not maintained. Manager was in the front talking with a table (the old manager from Hooters). Didn't greet us, or check on us during our meal. There was 2 girls working the counter, one seemed not to be able to pull herself away from her Iphone.....but they were both polite and were quick to get us anything we needed. Noticed 2 cooks in the back not doing a ton......but we were the only ones waiting on food. Got our food and it was really pretty good. I got a dozen wings, breaded and sauced. I got Medium with both ranch and Bleu Cheese. I do have to say, the Ranch was TERRIBLE. It was the constancy of water and the ranch flavor didn't hold up, even on the fries......but the wings were out of this world. Perfect flavor, meaty, and cooked perfectly. My wife got the Chicken Strips and they were just OK. They were cooked perfect, but the breading had no flavor. The fries were awesome. Overall the experience was pretty good, but I worry about the way the place is being run. Seemed overstaffed, a little dirty (shouldn't be the case with all the staff), and staff lacking drive and direction. I hope that they stick around........I will be ready for more of those wings!

It was okay. Not my favorite but I've had worse. Its a nice little wing joint close to my house so if I want wings in a hurry I don't have to go far. The Hot sauce has been my favorite so far, it has a lot of flavor to it. The House sauce isn't bad, its a sweet and spicy sauce but its a little too sweet for my liking. I would personally prefer more spicy in that sauce. The BBQ sauce was a little bland in my opinion. The wings were well cooked and well sauced. The fries were very good.

The food was absolutely amazing. The wings were large and cooked perfectly, I like them even better than Buffalo Wild Wings. The onion rings were awesome, I seen someone was complaining about the ranch being runny. The ranch was really good, a little runny, but only because they make it, not just pour it out I the bottle. The lady working the front was really nice, and the whole place was nice and really clean, the place was small but not busy. Would definitely recommend this place, I wasn't sure at first from the outside but figured I would give it a chance!

I ordered wings and my wife ordered catfish, yet price was too high for serving size.
