West Street Burger hit the spot surprisingly well, though I think it was more because of my increasing hunger on Saturday night as more and more other dinner options fell through. Still, there was enough seasoning and bun-meat ratio on the 1/4 to satisfy me, and the meat, while typically overcooked, was not to a crisp. The mustard-pickle-onion movement in this town - henceforth coined by me as "MPO" - is one I can get behind, as can WSB. Cheap, too. The fries were thin and seasoned well but undercooked and limp. The onion rings were freshly made and admirably so - crunchy and with no bites of onion coming loose from their batter prison. Could have used a little more salt, though. I used to be of the opinion that fresh was better than frozen, but if this is the burger I get from frozen, I would almost have that over a lot of the more greasy options in this city. If you can't make a successful burger from scratch, then at least make a successful burger from frozen.

I see it's been nearly 4 years since the last review. I stopped by today for the first time. The service was really friendly and they had my order out quickly. I ordered the regular cheeseburger and fries. The fries were great...probably homemade and cooked perfectly. Then came the burger. In a word...soggy. I got greasy fingers just opening the paper it was wrapped in and then really greasy fingers and hands when picking it up. I put it down between bites and grabbed napkin after napkin wiping my hands and fingers clean. The mustard wasn't distributed equally and there were a couple of bites that were "mustard burger." ("Would you like some burger with your mustard?") I mean, it was oozing out of the sandwich in some places. The decor was cute and has a 60's muscle car/Route 66 theme. Tiny seating area that hadn't been swept for several hours. For half the price I could get a better burger elsewhere...McDouble at McDonalds, double stack at Wendy's, etc., and just about the same size. And for about the same money I could go next door to Sonic and get twice the burger. The fries were wonderful, but not enough to bring me back again.

Ordered: Philly Cheesesteak + Fries Price: $6.86 Food: A decent cheesesteak with its share of strengths and weaknesses. First of all, in Philadelphia, the phillys are made with thinly sliced pieces of meat, not cubes. I don't mind either way but the problem with this sandwich is that the meat was on the dry side. It was neither tender nor tough. They made up for the dryness by filling the sandwich with warm gooey cheese which was tasty but competed a little too much with the flavor of the meat. They don't pack the sandwich with tons of fillings but put enough mushrooms, bell-peppers and onions to keep it interesting. I was especially a fan of the bun which was substantial and slightly chewy, adding character to the sandwich instead of just being a barrier between the meat and your hand. Overall I think they need to use higher quality meat and cut down the amount of cheese but it was still an enjoyable sandwich. The shoestring fries were slightly crispy and well-seasoned.

Good hot burger. Fries were thin cut, not my favorite.

West Street Burger is a solid choice when you're craving a good old fashioned greasy cheeseburger. No tomatoes, lettuce, or sesame seed buns. Their no frills burgers are simply dressed with only onion, mustard, and pickles, served on a standard grilled bun. The 1/4 lb hamburger with cheese had great flavor, good texture, and had the right bread/meat ratio. Which is essential for a great burger. With the crispy fries it was a very filling lunch. The fries could use more salt, but that's not really a complaint. You can add salt to your food, but you can't take it away. Their onion rings are lightly battered, golden brown & crispy, and some of my favorites in town. The 1/4 lb cheeseburger combo w/drink & fries ran a little over $5 after tax. I like that they still use a revolving window in the drive-thru. The building may seat 10 people comfortably... maybe, but I think this adds to its charm.

Fries and ranch was great, however the burger compared to McDonald's. For the price I expected WAY way more.. Super disappointed and let down. Staff was friendly, just not all that impressed. Most likely won't return and definitely will not recommend.

I have been told that my quest for the Best Burger Joint in Wichita would not be complete without a stop at West Street Burger. It's a nice small local joint on North West Street that is known in the area to make a good Burger. I had never been here before and was happy to go try them out. They have a drive thu and also take call in orders which is nice if you are on a short lunch break. They have a 1/4 LB for about $2.99, 1/2 LB for about $3.99, and a LB for $4.99 which I though was very good prices. The fries are homemade shoestring style and cooked crispy with light salt.. I ordered the 1/2 LB with fries and water since they had coke products (I work for Pepsi, LOL). The price tab for lunch was about $5.86 and even tho its not a fast food place my order came within 5 min. The patties were the thin processed type but were cooked just right with a good flavor and juice but not soaking thu the bun. It had chopped pickles, onion and mustard on it. I enjoyed it and would rate it as a very good burger and the fries were very good also. I will go back again and will be happy to recommend it to you when in the area.

We eat at West Street Burger a few times a year, the burgers are pretty good, the fries are pretty good and so are the tots (my choice). They come as they should (at least in Wichita) with mustard, pickle and onion. Their hotlink is probably the best in town. They have a good menu with lots of options. I agree with the other reviewers though, it's small and seating is often a concern. If I go by myself, I feel self-conscious about taking a table for four by myself. However, it's alway fun to sit down and have a burger with someone new too. Cozy, cool and tasty.

I too had to have the West Street Burger experience and I must say I was disappointed. Processed burgers don't stack up with me when I'm on quest for the best burger. There was no were to sit as they don't have enough tables...the overflow was forced to sit in the storage room in back. The fries which are touted as being homemade sure didn't taste like it. Not like what you get at TJ's or Oasis. Decent place for a quick lunch burger not on par with the best of the best.
