THE PLACE! Amazing and authentic Vietnamese food. Never had quite as delicious as Pho Special. The staff is super friendly. Never disappointed.

I can eat here without any guilt because the food is so fresh. The staff are extremely helpful and will give you recommendations if you haven't had Vietnamese cuisine before. If you have never Pho'd before this is the place to Pho!

Pho broth is good. Meat portion was much larger than expected which is a bonus. Friendly attentive staff.

My favorite pho place in Wichita. It is a local gem. The location is so so but the restaurant is clean and very nice on the inside. When the owner is there, the service is terrific. When he isn't, it is only okay. He was more than accommodating of my gluten intolerance and assured me that the whole menu was MSG free and my pho ga was gluten free. They have a large menu and all their food is good. We get the egg rolls, spring rolls, and pho. I get the white meat pho ga every time. My husband gets his with sirloin. The portions are HUGE, even the kids size is generous. You won't leave hungry and you won't be disappointed.

This being my first trip to Kansas, I arrived with a few preconceived notions of what I expected to find: Gloriously warm weather (check), friendly small town vibe (check), too much country on the radio (check), Dorothy and her ruby slippers (negative). What I was not expecting to find was surprisingly authentic Vietnamese food. After attempting to go to My Tho Restaurant and being blocked by their arbitrary closing dates (what restaurant closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays...?), I opted for Pho Special in my undeterred quest for a bowl of pho. But deterred I was.. by their Specials menu. I ended up ordering a Banh Mi Dac Biet, a Bamboo Noodle Soup, a duck dish with a dipping sauce, and an avocado smoothie with boba. (The waiter raised an eyebrow and jokingly asked if I was sure that was all. This girl's got an appetite!) The noodle soup was a little too sweet for my taste. The duck was a little too plain even with the dipping sauce. But the banh mi was amazing! They do their subs the authentic way it's supposed to be done. I kid you not, I was tempted to order a second one to take on the go. The avocado smoothie was also incredibly rich and delicious. Two thumbs up for the banh mi and the smoothie. And the best part? All of that for less than $20. Sold.

Hu Tieu and Pho was very good. Springroll was average. The environment was friendly. Owner came out to greet us with a big smile. We are happy.

Pho Special is super good! I originally ordered the Beef Stew but they did not have any that day, so I went with my second option Spicy Noodle Soup. The portion size was huge. This soup had thicker noodles which I like better than the noodles in the Pho. The broth was not too spicy and addicting. Between my brother and I we shared a grilled pork Banh Mi, salad rolls, and egg rolls. The peanut sauce for the salad rolls was too thin that it tasted like peanut butter water. The egg rolls were my favorite. Crispy and had great tasting filling. The Banh Mi could use a bit more filling and be toasted more but nonetheless was good. The place was clean and had a nice atmosphere. The service could have been more attentive.

Already have a favorite pho place that I'm lucky enough to have exist here so everything else is just a comparison to. There is nothing wrong with Pho Special it's just not.....oh......what's the word I'm looking for? Great service, modern feel and clean environment. The location is poor but a nice oasis for that part of town.

Best pho in town!!! We are regulars here and the staff remembers is every time we come in. Our waiter, Daniel is by far the most helpful individual. The pho is amazing and at a great price. We bring new people here all the time. The express lunch is great too. Bahn mi of your choice and egg rolls. Them to top it off you get your choice of a smoothie ( they have the best ones in town to boot) all for under seven dollars!!!! Great service! Great food! And amazing people!!! ITS OUR FAVORITE PLACE IN TOWN!!! Highly recommended!!!

Stop on a long roadtrip to Texas, this was one of the best reviewed places. Good Pho again from Kansas. We both liked the Pho here, has good broth and everything is fresh. Looks like Wichita is good for Pho fa sho!

Nice little restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you know that someone relatively young has had much influence in the creation of Pho Special. Great marketing, clean restaurant, good service. Still, the food is too far adapted to Midwestern tastes for my liking. The nuoc mam was very bland though the rest of the food was good. On weekends, you can get an entire cornish hen with rice, veggies, and soy sauce for about $10. That bird was cooked right. When I cut into the thigh, all this delicious liquid came out. I've also had their banh mi and vermicelli noodle salad, which were both ok and regardless, well priced. It's not my number one pic in the area, but I would never be disappointed to end up eating here.

I'm going to chime in with the five stars for Pho Special. I am no Vietnamese expert either, and I've not tried much of their menu, but I can say this: I ate at My Tho on a Saturday night and then Pho Special on Sunday night, and there's no comparison in quality. My Tho is not in the same league with Pho Special in pho broth. Even the ingredients tray is better stocked. Furthermore, Pho Special has Pho Dui Ga, dark meat, skin-on boneless chicken slices covered in ginger and served with a bowl of chicken-broth pho with noodles. You slip the chicken in the broth, and it's out of this world good. And great smoothies...the avocado is really excellent. Be adventurous and give it a try. Then there's the as-noted excellent service. I like this place and these people.

Excellent food, service, and decor. Loved the egg rolls! Just as good as the other reviews say. Even my husband who is a pretty closed minded mexican loved the food. I had the chicken pho and my husband had the vermicelli with pork. Will defenitly be returning!

I have tried many vietnamese restaurants. Some with great pho, and poor service. Some with great service, and poor pho. This place has the best of both. I live near 29th North and Maize, and I dont normally like to travel far to a restaurant. But I do make the 25 mintue drive to this place for lunch once a week!

So many of these Vietnamese restaurants I was eating and then phoning in because I claimed I didn't know enough about the cuisine. Shut up, me, because I'll show you - I'll go to a bunch of pho places, in rapid succession, and find what makes a good pho. In my attempts at doing this, I've also seen some places (Pho Hot) who try to elevate themselves above the typically dive atmosphere that comes along with most Vietnamese restaurants. Not that it's a bad thing, of course: a low rent place just means they're putting their focus into the food, though that doesn't do much to sway the uninitiated. Pho Special walks the line between modern and down-to-earth: the interior is much nicer than the area, and it has an welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel welcome, not the least because of the counter at the register that has been doing what I think more Vietnamese restaurants should be doing: offering bahn mis and smoothies in deli counter-like fashion. The pate, ham, crunchy pig ear, and vegetables are a great $4 lunch in their own right, but the name of the game is pho. As I've been putting myself through the paces and shoving as many dac biets as I can find, I've found that the broth shouldn't be too hard to do well. Sure, you have plenty of ingredients within arm's reach to make it what you want, but any good bowl of pho should have a good base broth from which we build, and the slightly sweet, meaty broth of Pho Special, complete with a hearty handful of onions, is definitely a great soup in its own right. I don't know much about boba, but I know it's hard to find in Wichita. I got an avocado boba smoothie as I was leaving, and between the health benefits of the fruit combined with the soy milk used as the base, it felt like a healthy and tasty alternative to an actual milkshake. Plus, every once in a while you'd be surprised when you suck up a tapioca ball. Some pho places in town are divey in a way that makes you feel a little uneasy, and some are divey in more of a charming way, but for the most part they all feel a little cheap. Pho Special is still pretty cheap in cost, but the presentation makes it seem like a real restaurant. Also, the food's good.

Super nice staff. Service really fast. Good prices. My only complaint is I didn't know how good the smoothies were and I only got one to share. Mango is awesome.

Really nice place. Great summer rolls & the pho is on par with several other places in town. Large menu that should suit everyone's needs.

The peanut sauce for the summer roll was way too watery. Barely had flavor. The pho was ok. But just ok.

My wife and I drive an hour from our hometown to enjoy Pho Special. When we moved to Kansas from New Orleans I was really worried I would not be able to find good Pho but to my delight, Pho Special delivered! The staff is awesome and always recommends good dishes. The Pho is perfect but I like to branch out and try different dishes and they have a lot to choose from. Huge portions, deep, rich flavors and an attentive staff. No complaints. Perfect Meal: Fried egg roll app, Pho (any meat combination), and a jackfruit or avocado smoothie with tapioca balls. The smoothies are out of this world by the way.

We happened upon this restaurant entirely by accident a few weeks back and decided to give it a try. We started with the eggrolls and the vegetarian summer rolls. The former were excellently crispy and tasty. The latter were all right, but not very tightly bound and the bulk ingredient was iceberg lettuce. For dinner, I had the meatball Pho. This was my first experience with Pho and I can't say I'm a huge fan. However, I don't blame Pho Special; it's just not really my thing. The Pho tasted very good and unique. I enjoyed the experience even if it's not something I'll crave. I also tried some of my wife's "Egg Roll and Shrimp in a Bean Curd Wrap" and that was very good. I'll probably order that on our next visit. The prices are very low for the quality of food you receive and the staff was all very friendly.

Hands down, Pho Special is the vietnamese restaurant with the BEST customer service EVER. Employees are so polite, friendly , and approachable. They remember their customers and treat them like old friends. this is very rare for vietnamese restaurants as the culture in Vietnam doesn't really involve itself in "customer service", especially if you are non-vietnamese. I've had experiences at other pho/vietnamese restaurants where I walk in and am Ignored, or sit down and have a menu fling at me with the response "Muon gi"? Lit. Translation : "what do you want?" This type of demeanor is ordinary in Vietnam and many vietnamese restaurants in Wichita carry this attitude. Pho special I must say stands out for this very quality and I applaud them. They could teach the several vietnamese restaurants in Wichita thing or two about customer service or hosting in general.

We've been to Pho Special twice over the last few weeks, and on first visit sampled the wings, egg rolls (more similar to spring rolls), and pho with sirloin and meatball. Service was prompt, and our apps were delivered within 5 minutes and a few short minutes later the pho arrived. You can order either regular or large size bowls, but unless you have a Hungry Man size appetite the regular size is a plentiful serving. The depth of flavor in Pho Special's broth is something to behold and we couldn't place all of the spices that result in a flavor similar to allspice. We asked when checking out and was told by the host that his father hasn't given him the recipe but includes 3 different types of cinnamon, one of which is placed on the grill and another in a wok before added to the broth. On our second visit I tried the chicken pho which I understand is non-traditional since the base used in traditional pho stock is beef. I really enjoyed the Chicken just as much and it had a bit lighter flavor that I appreciated. When you consider both the menu pricing, the quality and quantity of the food, it's hard to beat Pho Special.

Ok, first off I must admit, my mouth is watering right now...omg, this place is good...ok ok ok. The first thing you cant help but notice was how packed it was, not to mention, all the foreign languages being spoken, which reminded me of my time overseas; I knew I was in the right place. So some friends and I stopped here for lunch, I always wanted to and I finally got my chance - I was excited. I ordered the noodle soup with sirloin and it was divine! It came with all the fixing of course; I also ordered the spring rolls as an appetizer. I had never ordered them before, but they were delicious and came with this sweet peanut dipping sauce that I literally almost stuck my straw in and sucked it all down - yup, that good. Anyway, back to the soup. The broth was full of flavor and I could not stop eating; I did not engage in much conversation I can tell you that LOL. the atmosphere was very laid back and the staff were all very friendly and catering. If you were like me and drive past it often, stop by and try it. Oh, and thank me later... :)

Excellent food. The menu lists it in Vietnamese but gives English descriptions. You order by number. Tasty and filling.

This is it! Pho Special is the numero uno, el supremo, creme dela creme of Vietnamese noodle soup in Wichita. It just doesn't get any better!!!. ...and if you find yourself in the mood for excellent Vietnamese food, Pho Special has you covered here as well. The short and sweet: 1. Top-notch customer service the moment you walk through the door, quite often from one of the owners herself. 2. Restaurant is clean from top to bottom. 3. The other owner (this is a wife and husband team) is the chef and he truly cares about the quality of the food he's putting out. 4. Avocado shakes are on the menu. For anyone who just thought, "Yuck!!!" Give an avocado shake a try. You'll find something as creamy and delicious as vanilla but healthier and far more refreshing. You will not only see the difference on the plates at Pho Special from typical Vietnamese restaurants, the taste will just blow you away! Try the cha gio (egg rolls) and you will find yourself with a mouthful of meat instead of the usual abundance of cabbage. This is because the owners know quality food is what will drive customers back time and time again. This is also why, on my first stop into Pho Special, the owner pleasantly warned me away from the avocado shake because the avocados were not yet ripe. Though I was disappointed, I was very happy the shakes were made fresh instead of from a packet. On this trip I ended up with a mango bubble tea, also made from fresh mangoes instead of a packet. ...but if you're reading this, you most likely want to know about the pho. It is divine! I don't/won't leave until I've lapped up every last drop of broth. One thing that sets Pho Special apart from other restaurants is they have pho ga (chicken with your choice of dark or white meat) on the menu. You will find this in a number of restaurants but sometimes they continue to use beef broth and just add chicken pieces. Also a number of restaurants will stick to an entirely beef menu while Pho Special has options like chicken and shrimp. I really like options and I appreciate an owner who takes the time to explain the ingredients. She can do this because what is going out to customers is prepared with the same care and quality ingredients as what she eats at home. Perhaps it is the simplicity of this Vietnamese home cooking which takes Pho Special to a entirely different level. While Pho Hot Bistro is good, the corporate atmosphere is dull. There's also a complete absence of owners pouring their hearts into the food as well as the dining experience to make up for it. Pho Special is bar none the best place to go in Wichita for Vietnamese, casual dining suitable for the whole family, and exceptional customer service!

Got Pho" ? This place does, . Very good Pho" with beef broth that I have to finish the whole bowl evrytime. Its that good. 5*S*T*A*R*S. If you are looking for really good authentic Veitnamese food, this is the place for it. 5 Spice Chicken dishes are very tasty as well. Bun" is anoher favorite, its a bowl with rice noodles , veggies, and meat, NO broth in this one, comes with a fish sauce that you add to your noodle bowl and mix it up and munch .. very tasty. Try the Hoisin Sauce with anything, especially with the Pho". Awesome Place to eat.

This place is as good as it gets! Try the broth here with no sauce in it first! Every time I go out with friends, they always put a lot of sauce in there and everyplace we go, they say it taste the same. But here you can taste a full, flavorful broth with out the generic taste of hoisin water. Give it a try!
