The night I dined at Margarita's, I learned a valuable lesson: Don't quickly judge a place based on the stars it has on Yelp. Seriously. From now on I vow to really read the reviews and the dates of when said reviews have been posted. That being said, I'll just go ahead with my review and try not to be annoyed with how my Saturday night was lack-lustered by this food. Atmosphere: Somewhat lively - a variety of patrons were seated throughout (families, couples, friends, etc.) Seemed clean, no weird smells. There is a stage and a dance floor, too, although we didn't get to experience either. Service: Service was ok, although the staff honestly looked as if they wanted to shoot themselves at times. Our waitress was fine - nothing too bad, nothing too write home about. Menu: If you are a fan of Taco Bell, Taco Tico, and Carlos O'Kelleys, you will LOVE this menu. Also, if you like Wichitan Tex - Mex" (which, by Tex-Mex, I mean, the usage of tortillas, chili powder, and lots of cheese), you will probably like the menu. I honestly had a hard time choosing just because the options are not only few, but not interesting (think Burritos, enchiladas, tostadas, fajitas, taco burgers). Food/Drink: The drink special had $2.50 Sangria. I jumped on that, because I'm a whore for Sangria. I even make it myself sometimes. However, my love for said lovely drink became my downfall when I took my first sip of their version. If I had to guess, they used the cheapest wine, watered it down, sprinkled in a few drops of O.J. , and put a cherry in right before serving to me. It was a very "meh" sangria. I guess that's what you get for $2.50. We didn't have to wait long for our food - I ordered some sort of burrito with rice and refried beans (not my favorite, but I don't believe you have the option to get another kind, like black). The plate was very hot when it came out, which I like. The food itself was very "meh." My ground beef burrito only had 2 ingredients: ground beef and chili powder. Therefore, the minute I cut into it with my fork, it began unraveling. It was topped with copious amounts of lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. There was some sort of sauce, but I couldn't really tell what it was due to the ambiguous color - it was kind of a light milky green? The rice tasted ok, but perhaps was a little under-cooked. Overall, the food was O.K. but definitely not worth what we paid for it. This restaurant is best for people who have a specific idea of what Tex-Mex is (and are completely wrong about it) and like bland food. Save yourself some $$ and make your burritos at home. They will be better and will cost a whole lot less. Also, if you do like semi-authentic/authentic Mexican food, steer clear of this place, because they won't have what you want. There are PLENTY of other restaurants in Wichita with a much more complex menu.

Spent NYE here with friends. Although we did not eat the food, we drank the drinks. Our waiter was great even with the craziness of the evening. Drinks were cheap! The band Lotus, which apparenty plays every weekend, was amazing! Wichita people, if you don't know about this place, RUN - go check it out! We danced the night away

Had lunch special! The place is packed during lunch hour and the service is expedited!! Enchiladas are yummy. Will come back again

This visit was disappointing from a service standpoint. However, the food was delicious. I enjoyed the shrimp fajitas, which features sautéed pineapple rather than the traditional bell pepper fajita innards. It was delicious! Unfortunately, in spite of it being a very slow Saturday, we only saw our waitress three times. At one point I had to get up and ask for a pitcher of water to refill my glass. Needless to say, I'll give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, and instead next time we will be choosy about our waitstaff.

Fast service, reasonable prices. I had the Pollo con Pico - I would recommend. My friend had the Chimichanga, it was fried perfectly!

Since we live in the neighborhood, we frequent this restaurant. The food is always good, but the drinks and service are disappointing. The margaritas are always watery and 9 times out of 10 we are neglected by our server. The atmosphere is fun, especially on the weekends, but that doesn't make up for the lack of good service.

Yuck! This food was bad. The "green chile sauce" is not green chile. Sour cream on the plate before you put it in the oven? Why would you do that. Nasty rice that was burned, the chips taste like rubber or something, do they need to change the oil? Drink the margaritas they are cheap.

Margaritas. I didn't have one of those. Namesake fail. But once we've gotten past my epic foible, then we can move on to... ...TAMALES. Listen up, my dear Wichitans, and visitors heretofore, tamales are some sort of sacred find in any town north of Brownsville, Texas. If these cornmeal logs stuffed with meat and seasonings and topped with lardy beans, cheese and chunks of tomato are delicious, then the find is equivalent to the Fountain of Youth. That Margaritas needs serious interior decorating, and that those vinyl seats are not exactly comfortable won't bother you as soon as you stuff loads of cooked maze and sauteed, succulent, moist seasoned beef in your mouth. And a little bit of a hint: just order the "side order." One is enough...unless of course, you're a glutton for digestive punishment and enjoy having a food baby every once in a while.

Din. Flies. Mediocre Food. After 1 o'clock on a Friday service was adequate albeit slow. The Gold something-or-other margarita tasted of a sickly sweet lemon-lime mix. Not sure if there was any tequila in it. Glad I got just the small one. The cheese enchiladas were okay - just barely okay. I amused myself by swatting at flies and was forced to listen to the conversations being conducted several tables away while my overheated plate cooled to a temperature somewhere near molten lava. Nothing here was appealing - won't be returning. Date of Visit: 21Aug2015

5 stars for the music and dancing!! 1 star for the food, service, and drinks. If this place wasn't poppin' on the weekends, I don't know how they would survive.

Have been coming here since the early 90's. Love the flour fried chicken tacos. Nothing like them in California, where I live now. Best rice in town. Can't wait to get back.

If you like your food bland, pilled to the ceiling with cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes (to cover the lack of any flavor) then this is the place for you. One of the worse meals I've had in a long time.

God awful food. Salsa should have chunky and not taste like melted tires. You get both with this joint. Skip this joint and visit Taco Bell if you want anything that tastes remotely close to Mexican food.

Worst customer service in the world. They have this stupid kid that opens door for you just stairs at you! Than 5 people standing around looking at you when you walk in finally another idiot walks up says how many? Not Hi how you guys? Than seats you! We timed it on Friday night it took 11 minutes till this girl who is 10 feet tall to come over! You can't hear her she doesn't say sorry took so long she says do you want waters? First off you never wait 11 minutes to wait on a table! 2nd say hi I'm so and so! I have all waters and chips for you. What else can I get you to drink? We love the food! But never fells. Worst service in the world!!!! Seriously who ever is the owner or manager should be fired! The staff makes you feel like you can't ask for anything! Little secret your idiots we are out to eat with our hard working money! Your are trying to make money! Get a personality and learn how to wait on tables! We always laugh at the service it's the worst!! My friend has a morning show and asked who has the best food but worst service in Wichita! You guessed it Margaritas! That's so embarrassing! Out of 116 calls 89 said this!

We recently decided to go here and Im not kidding my boyfriend and his roomate went there four times in one week. Now I think its just once a week. We all loved the sourcream enchiladas, probably one of the best things on the menu. We also usually start of with the queso and some flour tortillas and I like to use it in my chicken fajitas (which are even great as leftovers/ huge portion). I would have hoped for better margaritas since thats the name, but if youre gonna get one get the strawberry one frozen. One night I wasn't super hungry so I got the queso and a chicken tostada, I think it had too much cheese, but still delicious. Love going here

This place was recommended by some work colleagues, so we ventured there on a hot 100 degree day. From the outside, the place looked attractive and attention grabbing from the road. It has a very large parking lot, so you won't have a problem finding a space. Upon entering the establishment, the place was a bit dim and our hostess was there to find us immediately to seat us. The seats are large and are made for fat american ass. Very comfortable. We were seated close to the booth/window area on the North side. There was a stage also, but no live band during lunch. There is also a top floor as well. Our waiter was a very enthusiast person who greeted us with a smile. Got our waters and made a joke about how if we wanted our waters on the rocks. Came back minutes later with our drinks and immediately asked if we were ready. The menu is only 2 pages with enough information about what to expect. We looked at the lunch specials, and I had the Especial Margaritas Burrito, which was moderately 6.59. After our orders were taken, the waiter brought us our chips and salsa. Now with the salsa, there are several options for how hot you wanted. We got the mild and hot salsa. The chips were fresh, thin, crunchy, and PLENTIFUL. The salsa.. well I wasn't the least impressed with it. You couldn't really taste the fresh tomatoes like some places have. Maybe I prefer the cilantro taste to it that it lacked. Our food came about 15 minutes later. Very quick and fresh. The amount of food was probably more than I needed at the time, but I finished it. The rice was very flavorful with all kinds of spices in it. The re-fried beans were gooey with the hot melted cheese on top. The burrito itself was topped with lettuce, tomato, and cheese. I had the beef one which was well minced and moist. The food wasn't amazing or the best I've had, but for the price and speedy service it's worth a trip to try out.

I enjoyed dinner at Margaritas Cantina. Really, it was the enchiladas that stole the show. Gotta be one of the best enchiladas I've ever had. And even though the rest of the meal was kind of disappointing, I bumped the rating up to 4 stars just because of these enchiladas. I mean, the cheese was awesome and the sauce was awesome. For the rest, the tostada tasted alright, but I couldn't even pick it up, the shell was so soggy by the time it was served. The margarita was also a bit disappointing... kind of weak, especially when I paid extra for top shelf. The chips were great... light, thin, crispy and warm. The salsa was also really good. Service was good too. I wish we had been there later in the evening... would've loved to have seen the live music or whatever they do here later on. Definitely, next time I'm in Wichita.

I love this place! Their salsa is the best in town- not too much cilantro like other places. Service is always friendly and prompt. Everything I've eaten there has been delicious... Especially the 'Margarita dip', Pork carne asada tostada, Mexican chili (beans, pork and cheese dip w/tortillas). Their fried ice cream is awesome!!! The kitchen really rocks out the food too, we usually have our meal in less than 10 min after ordering!!! Also, weekend nights they remove some tables & clear the dance floor for their house band Locus-- FUN!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
