This is a west side tradition. The food is fantastic. The Mandu (Korean egg roll) is so good I order them by themselves for lunch often. They make their own spicy mustard -WOW it is hot but really good The place looks like the 80's died, but the food makes it worth it

Mediocre food, weird atmosphere, but was NOT A BUFFET WHICH WAS IS GOOD. I got the beef and broccoli and the portion was large bit it came in a weird serving dish with a lid. Nice that it kept food warm but was very awkward to dish out. The beef was not velveted so it was tough and flavorless. My son got the Ghangis Kahn, which was just teriyaki beef on rice, it was the best dish we had, break sliced thin and had good flavor. The wonton soup was good, had a lot of vegetables in it though (bean sprouts, lemongrass??). Because there is a lot of Chinese food options in Wichita I wouldn't return until I tried other options first.

Magic Wok comes highgly recommended to me by friends and family. The BF and I visited about two months ago. We were greeted and shown to a booth near the front. We were dining fairly early, so the place was noticeably empty. I did, however, notice lots of people coming in to pick up to go orders; always a good sign. We ordered the crab rangoon as a starter. It was fresh and piping hot. The flavor was akin to what you find at many other Chinese restaurants, but we enjoyed just the same. I should note how excited I was they had the really good chinese mustard; the kind that burns your nose (which I love). Not many places carry it, so MW gets an extra point for this. For entrees we ordered the genreal's chicken (which they list as Imperial chicken) and Kung Poa beef. We also both order fried rice on the side. I thought the texture of my beef was a little off. It was slimy and a bit rubbery, but the overall flavor was good. It was too overpoweringly spicy unless you munched one of the many peppers. The highlight of the meal was by far the Imperial chicken (the BF wins again for best dish choice). It was crunchy even coated in sauce, and the flavor was extremely delicious. It definitely had that umami we were looking for. We passed on dessert. We both had soda to drink, but I know they have awesome drink specials. This is a great place for a big group or a small dinner with friends.

Had been a loyal customer for ten years or more and have seen the service consistently get worse. The last time I was there I was asked if I was ready to order before we even gave our drink order. Was a great place but would no longer recommend it. We ended up leaving right away.

I love this place!! I used to be a Wong's fan and when they closed I was devastated...until I stumbled upon this place and I'm so glad I did! Their food is always fresh and the staff is always friendly! Their egg rolls are divine...I just love everything about it...by far the best Chinese in Wichita! The only thing I will say is that they serve their egg drop soup with saltine crackers instead of won ton strips, but the soup is great on its own so its not really a nuisance.

Nice place to curb your Chinese cravings. I used to like it a lot cause my friend used to work here and she would get us all freebies :) which is always good. She doesn't work here anymore :( A little far if you live on the east side.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
