Food was very bland, the salsa was ok, not bad like previous reviews... nevertheless the $1.99 margaritas were AMAZING!!!

Listen, we eat here twice a month. My wife and I ate there last Saturday and the floor was so slick from grease that we had a hard time walking. They shouldn't have opened the doors like that. The almighty dollar is more important that the safety of their customers. We won't be back.

They have put a lot of money into the building, now it's time to put money into putting out good food, maybe a good head chef. Food is the worst, they will be bankrupt in a year or less.

Can I leave a half star? This place was TERRIBLE. The salsa tastes like marinara, the chips were stale, and I could have gotten a better burrito at the taco Tico next door. Will not be back, nor will I recommend this place to anyone.

I had a late lunch at four. The place was slow. The serve was good. The food was a problem I ordered the sampler the only thing that was hot as the rice. The rest was cold. I may try one more time only because of the staff. All the food was bland even the salsa.

The overwhelming line at 6pm didn't upset me, it excited me!! I was giddy about trying this restaurant out and wasn't even angry about waiting ten minutes. The place was packed and really loud but it was all okay because I was anticipating the greatest Mexican food I have ever had in my life! I had heard good things about this place! We sat down and realized the music was so loud, it felt like we had front row seats at a Mexican Fiesta! But then we were immediately graced with some crusty hot chips and some mouth-watering salsa! I was happy, until the moment my meal came in contact with my tongue. I ordered an enchilada, a burrito, rice and refried beans. The meat in the enchilada didn't have an ounce of flavor. I was appalled! After finishing the enchilada with a raised eyebrow, I sunk a huge bite into the burrito with the thought, "This will be much better!" It wasn't! I kept reassuring myself with each bite, "This is way better! Oh yeah!" but it wasn't! I tried to convince myself but it was so bad and the plan to trick myself into enjoying the food failed miserably. I stopped eating my meal after trying a bite of the rice and almost erupting vomit all over my date. How do you ruin rice? HOW can you do that? I was still hungry despite the disappointment so I started to munch on more chips. That was a bad mistake too! The "fresh" batch of chips and salsa they brought us somehow started tasting similar to the gut wrenching enchilada/burrito I had attempted to consume. It was bad though! My stomach started to ache almost immediately! With no hope to save my crummy experience at this restaurant, I scooped up a spoonful of refried beans and they weren't bad! Not enough to save the meal though. I still had more than half a plate of "food" to go but I asked for the check anyways; I was done! My stomach bothered me the rest of the night and I awoke with a sore throat. All in all, I can truly say that this is one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. In closing, I would say you have to be Los Locos to enjoy Los Cocos.

I have visited the newest Los Cocos in Derby, Kansas a few times now. While I have yet to be able to offer an evaluation of their menu, their drinks have me smiling enough to write a review. Although I'm not normally a fan of restaurant mixed drinks due to their high sugar content, low alcohol content, and mind-boggling prices, Los Cocos gets this right. Strong, smooth margaritas (both on the rocks, frozen, and most importantly, by the pitcher), daiquiris, pina coladas, and more keep this girl coming back. Kick back with a swirl (frozen margarita and sangria) and a basket of chips and salsa (which the staff keeps well-filled) and unwind from a day at the office. The service is friendly, even before the rum-induced haze sets in, and checks in with you just enough to feel like you are being cared for without feeling stalked. From what I've seen - the food is good as well, and the atmosphere is pleasant and appropriate, depending on the time of day, from anything from a business lunch to a family dinner to a date (did I mention those drinks?).

Salsa was watery without much bulk (vegetables ). Overall the food was bland and sub par. The service was friendly and timely. Would not go back. Their so called cheese sauce has the consistency of milk (horrible).

So, I went to this place based on reviews from my co-workers. They raved that the food is great and the service is fast during the lunch hour; which is a real plus. So my husband, daughter, and I decided to go one weekend. I ordered a chicken dish, with the standard beans and rice and it was just ok. Nothing really spectacular, no real bold flavors, nothing to write home about (or to you guys for that matter). They do serve free chips and salsa, which was great; the flavor was good, but I was hungry when I arrived. My husband complained of the food being bland and so did I. I felt kinda bad, cause it was totally my idea to go in the first place. All and all, I probably wont go back to this place. Sorry, Los Cocos, but this has been my lowest rating yet.

Very good mexican food. I have tried several of their menu items. They make a really good virgin margarita.

Things started off slow. The salsa was bland. So I ordered a side of guacamole to replace the salsa. The guacamole was definitely fresh, but otherwise was average. I ordered the house margarita which was on special for $1.99. It was average, and maybe based on value... a good drink to have with the meal. I don't think I would have paid full price for one though. So I waited for my entree, thinking the way things are starting off, this will be just another average Mexican restaurant. I ordered the Chile Verde. It was alot better than what I was expecting. And the portion was very large. I came in for dinner pretty hungry, and I can put away alot of food. But I could not finish my plate. "No mas!" I would have given this restaurant 3.5 stars, but I will round up since I'm feeling nice today. This is probably one of the better options for people living in the Northwest side of town, that want to go to a Mexican restaurant.

I am a regular and have eaten at Los CoCo's many times. I can tell you that they are always packed on the weekends so I tend to go during the week. The have a "Shrimp Cocktail" that is very good - it's more of a meal than an appetizer. Most of their burrito dishes are very good. My personal favorite is Camarones La Diabla - it's very spicy but oh so delicious! I also like thier Salmon dish very well. I recommend Los CoCo's. Service is always excellent.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
