Ordered: Pulled Pork Sandwich and half-order ribs Ambiance: Not much to say here, you got your fast-food feeling restaurant with standard booth seating. Place was clean and staff were friendly enough. Food: The pulled pork here was moist and tender and served on a more of a roll than a bun which I liked. It had slightly chewier and more substantial texture than your standard hamburger bun although I wish it was toasted just a little bit more. The ribs were pretty decent, not fall-off-the-bone tender but not too far from it. The meat didn't have a strong smokey flavor but the charring of the rub kind of made up for that a little, they really could use a more flavorful rub though. Overall the meats were enjoyable with no obvious flaws although I think they need help from the sauce to really be enjoyable. The sauces themselves were pretty delicious but definitely on the sweet side so be warned. I personally liked the spicy sauce although the heat level could've been kicked up another notch and like I said, it was still pretty sweet. The beans also had the story, good texture and sweet but overall tasty. Overall I'd definitely come here again, I think it's pretty comparable to Two Brothers BBQ although I enjoy the buns here more. I think this place could benefit from focusing on their meats more and making them more flavorful and complex rather than relying on a sweet but delicious sauce. Bottom-line is that the food here is tasty, quick, and easy but hardcore aficionados probably will need to keep looking.

Coming from Texas, I'm well versed in barbecue, and though I understand that regional variations exist in the Q, there still that picture in my mind of what a barbecue place should be. You should be able to smell the food from miles around. Open pits aren't a requirement for good barbecue - I would use an enclosed solution at home, for example - but in a restaurant setting, there's such a disconnect between my idea of barbecue and the sterile, open kitchens which contain the smokers somewhere in the back. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. They were offering a Carolina-style version on special, which came with a "tangy" coleslaw served on top. What I received was a nicely toasted bun with their standard pulled pork* - an adequate, though sometimes a little dry affair with moderate bark and no smoke ring that I could see. I was expecting the worst with a thick, heavy, and sweet sauce, but Hog Wild exercised a good deal of restraint here, which I appreciated. The coleslaw was your standard supermarket product and not particularly more tangy than any others I've tried, though Carolina style is less about the coleslaw and more about the vinegar-based sauces. I didn't really expect the restaurant to get this aspect of the barbecue correct, and I think it was more of just a re-employment of things they had lying around. *As an aside, if there's one thing I think the Texans have wrong about barbecue, it's the choice of cow rather than the pig. I understand that cows (rather than pigs)were abundant in the Lone Star state and vice-versa for every other states. The curly fries were rarely more than slightly curved, but they were pretty standard and underwhelming. I should have tried some more standard sides, like the beans, but it wasn't meant to be (read: it was lunchtime and I didn't want to). When I moved into the middle of the barbecue belt, I was expecting a lot from Wichita. Unfortunately, Hog Wild didn't meet my expectations. The food was serviceable, sure, but there has to be something else in the River City.

Really good pulled pork sandwich, Carolina style which means they put standard cole slaw on it. They have mild and hot sauces in each table, and both were very very good. On a Tuesday at lunch, got there there at 11:45 ( they open at 11:00 ) and was easily able to order and sit and enjoy the awesome sandwich and curly fries. By noon the place was full so that was a good sign. And also the drive thru lane was always full. Very popular place. Also saw large To Go orders being processed. This place is very tasty and very popular in the area. Highly recommended.

Great beef brisket, coleslaw could be punched up, kind of blah. Chicken was good, a bit dry. The bbq sauce is what makes it...thick, alittle sweet, alittle tangy.

Lots of food but not super tasty. I'm spoiled by having my experience of BBQ tainted by a unicorn in the food industry - really good gas station food. There's an excellent BBQ joint (that just happens to be a convenience store) just outside Joplin Mo that has so far been unbeaten in excellent BBQ. The brisket is dripping moist, the ribs are hot and tender and the sides are amazing. This is not that place. The food here looks stunning but they forgot to add flavor somehow. Even dousing it with the "fire" sauce has little effect. The one exception is the mashed potatoes - they are very savory and tasty. The coleslaw however is a bit like eating wet lettuce. Its not creamy or garlicky or sweet, just bland. The ribs were a bit warmer than room temperature but on the tough side. The brisket was plentiful but dry and stringy. If you're hungry you will leave full but its unlikely you'll remember what you ordered.

Just ok.. nothing to write home about. I had the brisket and the pork. As they were both chopped it would almost hard to see which was which. The pork was decent with good flavor, but could have used more. The brisket was lacking in bark and a deep smoke ring. It wasn't bad, I just think it could have used a little more love.

Service was fast... Macaroni and cheese and toast were cold. Fries were hit and crispy, but very salty. Chicken and turkey both tasted like they had been under heat lamps all day, very dry and not flavorful at all.

Ordered family pack #2, which is almost $50 at the drive through. I asked for 5 paper plates and was informed that they do not supply paper plates at the drive through only for dine in customer's. To top it off after I stated I was not happy she just shuts the window and walked away. Poor service will keep me away as there is better bbq in town.

Pretty good pulled pork, probably about the best yhou will find for mass produced BBQ... I would say there are better places, but have not found many in Wichita.... I personally am from OK, and our BBQ is hard to beat.... But if'n you do make it over here, get some of their pulled pork... Sauce is pretty decent too!

Hog wild has the best bbq in Kansas! The bbq sauce is so amazing and sweet savory deliciousness taste in your mouth. I suggest the brisket and ribs. The sides are the best part my favorites are: Mac & cheese, curly fries, mashed potatoes, and the pickles. This restaurant Easily Gets five stars!

The only reason we went here was because the two brothers down the street was closed which is very disappointing because it was 10x better than what I got at Hog Wild. The menu is a little confusing. None of the sandwiches come with sides and when I asked the cashier about it he said I could have any side and as many sides as I wanted not specifying that they were all separate and I had to pay an additional $2.19 per side. I got my food very quickly still unsure exactly what I was getting for the $10 I paid. Again I paid $2.19 for a side of coleslaw that was gone in four bites. I don't appreciate having to pay $0.50 per bite I take. The pulled pork was okay. It satisfies a bbq craving but still overpriced small portions. The only reason I would ever go back is because it's the closest bbq to my work.

I've eaten bbq all over the country and I think this place has the best ribs! I honestly haven't tried anything else here yet but the ribs are awesome and the employees are great

I ordered the baby backs and got a full rack. My first half was fine a little under cooked but was fine. the second half was burnt and I could not even rip the meat off the bone. I was shocked at my discuss because I've heard nothing but good things. But I except that it was a mistake and I'm going back to give them a second chance.

Hog Wild really does its best to be a chain BBQ place. They advertise like crazy, they seem to have the prep and consistency down, and they have a wide range of meats and sides. That said, nothing is very good. It tastes like chain bbq...maybe a little better than Famous Dave's, but nowhere near the level of freshness, the quantity of food, the combination of crusty bark, smoke, and juiciness--the true BBQ gold standard--that you can get at any number of other places in town. Mostly it looks good but is a bit bland, a bit warmed-over. HW does ok in a pinch but they're cutting big corners here. I urge folks to try a few other places in town.

I didn't think that I was going to get the best pulled pork ever while in Wichita, but the restaurant was conveniently located on our way back from the Zoo so we decided to stop. The best thing was there was a drive through so I didn't have to get out and walk more after traipsing the zoo all day. I sat in the warmth of the car and lazily ordered a regular pulled pork sandwich. The BF got the large sandwich and also some mashed potatoes and corn. Then we took our spread to the hotel room to munch down. Pulled pork was alright, not bad at all. I do love a good pulled pork sandwich! Hot sauce was not by any stretch of the imagination hot but it was alright. The corn and potatoes tasted pretty much like they came from a can....we still ate them though. Overall not a bad place to get some pulled pork if you are in the area and hungry...but definitely not TN worthy!!

Great BBQ and lunch stop. Had the 3 meat dinner for lunch - ribs, beef brisket, and hot links for $8.99, Ribs were standout - meaty, yet succulent, and with a nice mild sauce.

Friendly people and great BBQ. The ribs were amazing. Definitely worth a visit. And they have a drive through which was handy in the downpour that followed me around Kansas.

I really enjoyed the BBQ and the slaw is the best I have ever had at a BBQ joint.

Good BBQ joint. I had the brisket and pulled pork. Both were moist and flavorful. Kicker here was the sauce. While I am usually a fan of spicier sauces, the mild sauce here was rich in flavor and made the meal even better.

I really like pulled pork and Hog Wild's is very very good. It is like the memphis style bar b q which I love. I have had the pork ribs and I like them too. The rating is for the meat - the sides are ok.
