The Tangy Beef was great! Loved the pretzel bun and the beef was very tender. Everyone is so helpful and the owner gives you a hug and let's you know how much she appreciates your business! Haven't felt that appreciated by a restaurant in , well "ever". They really treat you like family!

Tried this place in a whim. The sandwiches were excellent. One sandwich was the mooofaletta with jalapeno cheese gluten free bread, very good. Possibly the best gf bread I've tried.

I liked the place once I found it. Look for the Renfro sign just East of the Old Mill Tasty Shop, it's right next door to the West. The counterwoman was really nice. Very friendly and went out of her way to make sure I had a good dining experience. I had the Tangy Beef Sandwich with a side of Copper Coins, or Copper Pennies, can't remember which. It's a tasty carrot salad in a what tasted like a rasberry vinegrette. I also had the lavender lemonade. It wasn't bad, but I'm not sure if it would be something I would get again. I did drink it all and it was okay. The reason I gave it only 2 stars was that I ordered a large sandwich and a side and was still, extremely hungry. The side was anything off the salad bar in a very small ramekin. Like what a restaurant might serve ketchup in. The sandwich in total made up about 1/2 of the quantity of a Cinnamon's Deli Half Sandwich height wise and about the same size width wise. And this was a large sandwich? I know I am a big girl, but usually a large anything with a side fills me up comfortably and I sometimes have leftovers. The side with this was just a tease. Just made me want more. I thought about ordering another sandwich, but they were pretty pricey and I doubt it would have filled me up yet due to the diminutive size, and money is tight. So I opted for a brownie instead. That was just a bit smaller than the brownies they had at the old Riverside Perk and tasted almost as good as those. I really enjoyed the sandwich, but like the side it was just a tease as well and I left and was still pretty hungry. Went home and had to get something to assuage my hunger. Which was the whole point of going to the Cow and Sow in the first place. That is not a goal a restaurant should strive for. If the portion sizes ever equal up to a full meal, for a decent price, let me know. Plus, you eat in the small meeting room/art gallery. Which, when empty is kind of lonely. Would be nice if they were together. My advice, skip this place and go anywhere else if you are hungry. If you just want a teaser of a meal, more of a snack really, go here.

Great sandwich and super friendly staff. I went with their recommended turkey BLT and it was awesome. They are in a cool part of town too. I'll definitely try to come back by next time I'm in town.

We were out visiting family from California and came across this little Gem! Great Farm to Table Food. Mostly Organic and Non-GMO. The Owners were very accommodating, friendly and generous. Tracy was having us taste test all their yummy cuisine! The Copper Pennies are the Best I've ever eaten! The Home Made Cheese Cake Ice Cream was a Fantastic Finish to a Fabulous Evening! We Highly Recommend giving Cow & Sow Deli a try!

After hearing about this place from friends who work downtown, I gave it a try for lunch. The place is TINY and nothing very nice, however, the people were very friendly and pleasant. There is no place to sit, so plan to take it to go. I got a cup of broccoli cheese and ham soup. It was very average. I also got a half a muffelatta which was the best I've had outside of New Orleans. I was wishing I'd have gotten the whole sandwich and skipped the soup! I WILL be going back for that divine sandwich. If your're downtown, don't miss it!

Wanted to try this place after seeing it while driving by and Yelp showed a single, very good review so on a Saturday noon we gave it a try. We did a Saturday lunch, found a couple of people there ahead of us and were soon to order. The menu is small (as is the deli) but fine for us as we found sandwiches to order. Both sandwiches were taste and or reasonable quantity. The owner told us, as first time customers, we could help our selves to the salad bar and we both did. As salad bars go this was as simple as it comes and not even close to be worthy of a meal by itself. Seating in the deli is just a few chairs along the south wall facing the street and even thought it was cool outside sitting at there would have cooked us with the sun coming thru the window so we went next door the a studio seemingly owned by the same people. Seating was basic and the room doubled as a photography studio and a place for small gatherings. Somewhat basic with an old flavor. This was worth the adventure but not likely going back.

I wouldn't say I drive down Douglas regularly, but I'm good to pass through Old Town once or twice a week. I tend to keep my eye out for new places, and try as I might I couldn't spot Cow and Sow. I actually had to use my GPS to find the black logo that covered the dark windows (protip: look for the sandwich board on the street). Upon entering I was greeted by the extremely friendly proprietor, Tracy, who owns this space and the one adjacent for her art projects. She was more than happy to show me around. This is by no means a large business - a third of the usable area is occupied by the tiny sandwich-making counter, a prep table, and a home oven. Another third is reserved for your typical corner store-type wares, though Cow and Sow's conceit is to offer as many products from local farmers and suppliers. This, along with the general supply issues of a newer business, can make the selection rather anemic - there were a few bunches of kale left, but you were SOL if you were looking for an apple. Thankfully, they seemed to be keeping much of their product for their own use. A lot of it could be found on the salad bar, which was in itself also quite different than what you're used to. A couple of lettuces, maybe half a dozen toppings, The other half of the salad bar - a majority, probably - is for the small prepared stuff: homemade applesauce; a parsnip, apple, and kale salad, and other prepared items in that vein. Sold in quantities of "little plastic container" or "slightly larger plastic container," neither of which seemed adequate for the portions of those salads I would prefer to be eating. Not that they had much quantity to offer. Small batch salad bar-ing: only for the hardest of core. I was more interested in their soup and sandwich offerings, the former changing daily. The day of my visit it was a lentil and kale affair that was plenty homey and good. I think you'll find kale as an ingredient in many of the daily soups; they've clearly found a reliable provider for it. Sandwich for me was the Moooofaletta, which is how a cow would pronounce "muffaletta" if cows could talk and also develop a taste for traditional New Orleans cuisine. The sandwich itself isn't difficult - sure, finding the big round loaf that gives the sandwich its name isn't easy to come by (and is something that even Cow and Sow omitted), but the rest of the sandwich is mostly just cold cuts. Except for the olive salad, of course; that pickled olive, cauliflower, carrot, and olive oil salad that is part and parcel of the traditional sandwich. There's no reason more restaurants can't produce the sandwich successfully, but most attempts don't commit, making the final result weak. This one hit everything it needed to, and thanks to the toasted and pressed bread, it was a sandwich that was self-aware and an effective homage. Even in a town that can claim Jack's Coffee Shop as its own, Cow and Sow Deli is decidedly slapdash in design. There's no room to expand, no room to add proper cooking equipment, and no room to keep more than a handful of ingredients on hand on any given day. Still, this hasty concept is part of its charm, and at its center is a knowledgeable cook and sandwich assemblers that can produce a product that has more charm and at least as much flavor than a lot of the other sandwich places in the area. Plus lots and lots of local kale.

Love it! Great staff, great owner, and delicious food. They have an awesome assortment of vegetarian options, too. I find their prices to be very reasonable (sandwich, bag of chips, and a soda for $7). Will be a long-time customer here for sure!

Went down to this deli for the second time today. Great food! The seating situation is a bit unconventional but it works. It's next door. The young ladies who work there are very friendly. Loved this little gem next to Old Town. For foodies with different diet preferences (gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian), this is a good place with a great selection and great quality food. They let us try the two soups of the day and both were so delicious I could barely choose! I love that they also support local businesses. I will be coming back for sure in the future and bringing friends.

Cow and sow is a place you think about long after you've eaten there. That's how good their sandwiches are. I had the moofletta which I highly recommend. The bread is perfectly toasted with a light oil and crisp. The meat is well seasoned and textured, thinly sliced. Other ingredients come along with the moofletta which I can't recall but the sandwich was a great experience that I wanted to last. A gem of Wichita that should stay. The owner and staff are extremely friendly as well.

Great food. Gluten free options are a nice bonus! And you won't find a friendlier staff and hostess. My in-laws were in town from California and my mother-in-law can't have gluten or soy. They were very helpful with picking menu items that accommodated her diet. And to top it off the owner found a loaf of gluten free bread in the freezer and sent it with us, no charge! We will definitely be going back!!!

It was my first time ever going in there and I loved it! I wasn't even getting food for me, I was picking some up for the lady's I work with. I only had $4 with me so there was no way I could buy anything, but the owner asked if I was a first timer and I was. So she gave me a small sample of tomato soup(which was delicious) and I thought that was awesome, but then she asked "what do you want?" And I said I couldn't have anything because of my money situation, and she was like it's for free! I want you to have something! And she made me a delicious sand which and chips all for free! I can't wait to go back! They were so friendly! And helpful all the ladies in there helped me pick out my food. I really can't wait to go back. It kinda felt like a family reunion when I went in there! I loved it!

Very quaint little place. Owner Tracy is super friendly, and very committed to local fresh products. Prices are a little steep for the portion size, but the quality deffinitally makes it a worthwilde treat. Personally I got the Mooooben and it was spicy, tangy and delicious. Try the lavender tea too! Highly recommended.

Cow & Sow is the perfect spot downtown to grab a quick sandwich and soup. You can even snag up some locally sourced groceries while you're at it! I got the Hen House Chicken Salad Sandwich and tortilla soup with a side of potato salad. It was all delicious and hand made with all local ingredients. It's definitely a little more expensive than your average sandwich but you can taste the difference. I've been there a few times and every different employee I have encountered has been wonderful. I'll definitely continue to support this great local business!

I had the whole Tangy Beef sandwich. The sandwich itself was great, the pretzel bread was good and so were the angus cold cuts and the spreads. However, it was so small! I was very surprised for $9.11 incl tax, how small the sandwich was. There was probably 2 slices of cold cuts, and 2 leaves of lettuce (I weighed it because I track calories LOL). It was very delicious but even considering that it was locally sourced and high quality in terms of ingredients, it is very costly. The salad bar had some cute combinations of foods.

As you arrive at cow and sow you are greeted by old brick and a small park across the street. Entering you realize this start up is small and knocking it out of the park with solid flavors. As a well traveled man I am a bit of a connoisseur of sandwiches. I got two. Both were fresh, hearty and affordable. When you consider what you get at a chain or hotel for the money this place is gold. The workers are friendly knowledgable and caring. I recommend this to anyone wanting a fresh affordable sandwich.

Quaint, healthy and just plain relaxing kick-back venue with occasional music and great tasting food. Some Gluten Free stuff, but the owner's personality just literally bleeds "Kansas" charm. Stopped in for a late lunch yesterday and was entertained by the staff like no other restaurant/venue could ever offer. SUPPORT local business and enjoy the uniqueness they offer. Super good salad bar offerings. I had the Moo-Ben sandwich and really enjoyed it. It's really hard to locate due to the intimate location, but worth the trip around the block to find parking and enjoy. Enjoy Yelpers!

This place is amazing. Mostly locally sourced food and great gluten free options. They get all their gluten free baked goods from Cravings bakery. They have a salad bar, a soup of the day, they make their own from scratch ice cream, smoothies and have a killer sandwich menu. You can buy their meat by the pound and there are some a la carte grocery items. The owner will greet you at the door with a hug and the venue is unique. The kitchen and dining area are separate. The dining area can be rented out for events and parties. Often, local artist work hang on the walls. This place is can't miss. We no longer live in Wichita and always make sure we stop in when we are in town.

During my recent 2 week vacation my wife & I took our niece & nephew visiting from Seattle here. It was the first time any of us had been. We arrived on the tail-end of lunch, so it was busy, but obviously slowing down as most people in the dining room, which oddly is located next door from where you order--you order through one storefront, then go back out the door to outside & enter another storefront if you choose to eat there, were starting to leave, opening several tables. A little strange, but it was fine. The only complaint I have, if it even is one, is the wait for our sandwiches was/felt really long, which I attribute to the business getting a writeup in the Eagle the week prior. Anyway, the Cuban I got was ridiculously good, making my wait pretty tolerable.

Great food with great service! Doesn't look like a lot when you first walk in, you order through the door to the left and then you go across the way and they have tables to eat. My friend and I had both had lavender lemonades which were super tasty. The sandwiches and salad bar items were super fresh and tasty! The staff was so friendly and helpful. We also got the homemade ice cream. Would definitely come back and recommend!

My first impression coming here was that it was a very intimate set up. You can imagine the owner preparing each of the components of the salad bar (thus there's not much quantity wise). She was also the only one making the sandwiches. Her little girl took orders and ran the register. I ordered the tangy beef, since it sounded spicy. It was near the end of the day, and they had run out of the horseradish chive cheese, so I asked for more lettuce. I'm glad that I tried out the salad bar, otherwise, there wouldn't have been enough salad for me on the sandwich. She also forgot my horseradish mustard sauce. I didn't ask for it, since the owner had already graciously allowed me to dine in while they were closing up shop (also I got away like a bandit with my groupon). Regardless, I did enjoy my dinner. The mayo was very creamy and the pretzel bun was absolutely delicious and thick. Some more meat would have balanced the sandwich more, though. I'll definitely return to try out the tangy beef properly. It's nice to visit a restaurant that attempts to source everything locally.
