Had the Chicken Shawarma. I think it was in a tortilla wrap rather than pita bread - and it just wasn't as tasty as some other places I've tried it here in Wichita. Also, my table wasn't the cleanest with dust and grime on top of the napkin holder and salt and pepper shakers.

Perfect for lunch! Good prices for lunch portions. Local place, cheesecake looked AMAZING so we'll have to go back and try it!

Amazingly delicious - friendly local owners - neighborhood feel - we will be back when we are in Wichita

Fantastic place. Not a high end restaurant but they do it well. I've never had a bad meal here. Plus it is super affordable. Tonight my sister and I shared a turkey sandwich. For sides I had the Cesar salad and a cup of the lentil soup. Both were excellent. If you want to eat healthier without sacrificing taste eat here. Some Americans shy away from these places but don't. For the money it is five stars.

Delightful place for lunch or an early dinner in the heart of College Hill. Very unpretentious - the owner has been present every time we have eaten here - and he takes a lot of pride in this establishment. Food is fresh and tasty, portions are good. Very small cafe - great experience

They have the best fattouch salad in town! We had the chicken schwarma and beef gyro, which were both delicious. We were too stuffed to try the desserts, but there were a large selection of tarts, cakes, and cheesecake. This is a great little place to stop in when you're craving Mediterranean.

I'm a sucker for quaint little out of the way diners. I use yelp quite a bit and while visiting Wichita for work, I decided to expand my search and drove to this awesome part of town. Very 40s and 50ish style to the neighborhood. Restaurant was perfect for my liking and everyone was very friendly. I sat at the counter and ordered what my cute waitress suggested. Spicy chicken wrap but that wasn't what they called it. You can figure it out, it's delicious. The deserts are phenomenal. I settled for the carrot cake like I always do and I wasn't disappointed. Perfect. I will be back so I can try the key lime. Hope that helps but know I like simple, easy and friendly. The price was super reasonable

Excellent food and kind staff. Deserts are phenomenal, too. Nice mix of international cuisine if that interests you.

Extremely friendly staff and owner. We were just passing through on our way to Denver and stopped in because of the reviews, told The owner where we were going and she gave us free dessert for the road. Very nice gesture from a good staff of friendly people

They are vegan and vegetarian friendly. I had the ravioli and the owner told me that the sauce is his own personal recipe! It was so good that I thought I was in food heaven! The hummus is also very good! Good food. Friendly people. Don't miss out on this place!

The hospitality gets an A+! The food is great. We got the highly recommended chicken shawarma and it was delish! The owner as others have said is very engaging and welcoming but does not interrupt your meal in anyway. Good food and good prices, will visit again! We ordered the baklava to go and the owner gave to us because we are soon to be transplants to KS. Lovely place.

My grandson and I stopped by in the middle of the afternoon . Ari served us himself and gave us great service. Hummus appetizer and two sandwiches, bierocks to go for dinner, with an excellent salad to accompany them. Oh, and let me rave about the desserts--black silk, cheesecake, lemon cake--all good. We'll be back often.

College Hill Deli was highly recommended for lunch by another area business owner, and we were so glad she did. The decor's basic cafeteria, but if you're in it for the food & you love Mediterranean, you'll be a happy camper. Friendly server and owner, too. Especially recommended: Fattoush salad, delightfully refreshing on a triple-digit day.

Yum! I had a gyro and the most delicious french fries I've found in Wichita so far. My mom had the sweet potato fries and they too were delicious! Friendly service too. I would recommend.

This is a great little deli. Good variety of dishes. My favorite is the Alfredo. They also have a long list of sandwiches and wraps. Don't leave without having desert. The owner is super nice, and is always there.

Great food and hospitality here. They are open for lunch on Sundays but not sure of the hours. We go here after church about twice a month. Whenever it's warm there's a patio on Douglas to enjoy. Can usually host somewhat large goups of 8-10 with room for others. The owner is very warm and welcoming and really makes an effort to make sure you know he's glad to see you. Choose carefully appetizer or dessert as you probably won't have room for both. Great hummus with warm pitas, fattoush salad, beef or chicken schwarma and sweet potatoe fries. The desserts are good too, we just usually forget and get the appetizer so don't have room. The cheesecakes and baklava are really yummy. Cheesecakes are more than big enough to share. Good service, nice atmosphere in College Hill. Friendly staff, very clean and accomodating. Good service too!

The food was amazing! We had the beef gyro and the chicken schawarma. I also substituted my side with sweet potatoe fries. Everything was fresh and very flavorful. I couldn't decide on an appetizer and the owner offered me a sample before I placed the order. We ended up ordering the hummus and tabouli appetizer. The combustion of olive oil, lemon and spices was excellent. I was happy we found this place passing though wichita. Great service and reasonable prices.

Highly recommended: Wanted to find something new and fresh for dinner and thankfully found College Hill Deli. We ordered the gyro, chicken shwarma, and Philly cheese steak. All were deliciously divine! Also got the hummus appetizer which blew our minds! My boyfriend that isn't a huge hummus fan loved it. Also, their homemade pita bread was perfect. We finished our meal with a piece of cake that didn't disappoint. The food was marvelous and the service was fun! Ali(the owner) was upbeat and funny! A place we'll frequent. :)

I drive by here quite often but havereluctant to stop. Well I'm glad I did. The gyro, though beef not lamb, was very good. So was the chicken shawarma. I can't wait to come back with others in tow. It was clean and well kept. The staff, family from what I could tell, were warm and friendly. I don't eat out often. Most places are not the quality I'm used to at home. Here is just as good as home. The salad was crisp and fresh. Very good quality at a reasonable price. Can't wait to come back.

Lunch time is what this deli is made for. I get a good dish in a clean, well-lighted place. There's also a nice view of the (in)famous curve in the middle of Douglas Ave.

First time diner here, and I'm a fan of the food. I ordered the raspberry chicken salad, and it was delicious! Hummus was creamy, tabouli was fresh, and I love-love-love the soft pitas. The staff were friendly to me as well. I'm definitely coming back for more. :)

Dining at College Hill Deli always makes me feel as if I'm living in a huge city where there is a neighborhood deli around each corner. It is cozy and you feel as if everyone is family when you're dining here. I have had several of the options on the menu, and I really have enjoyed the hummus. They also have a wide variety of homemade desserts, and who can resist that? If you're in the college hill area for lunch or dinner, I'd definitely recommend this spot!

What a great little restaurant College Hill Deli is shaping up to be. I lived in the area and stopped by sometime last year. At the time, I was less than impressed with the chicken schwarma and didn't think I'd go back. A friend invited me to meet there for lunch last month, however, and I enjoyed everything about the experience. I went back today for more. As an avid fan of sweet potato fries, I opted for sandwiches in order to try the fries on the side. As far as sweet potato fries go (and I've tried many!) these are excellent. They are long, crispy and bright orange, and the spice sprinkled on them makes them unique from other sweet potato fries I've tried in town. The turkey on croissant I tried last month was just fine. If you've had a turkey croissant before, you know what to expect. Today I ate the best beef gyro of my life. I expected a gyro similar to Spangles or those found at Riverfest, but this was a cut above. The beef was sliced shorter and thicker and was charred on the edges for an excellent burnt crunch. The fresh tomatoes, onions and cucumber-yogurt dressing were great for a hot day. I can't wait to order it again. Afterward I enjoyed a coffee, brought by the amiable and attentive waitress. My only complaint is a sticky table and dingy restroom. I will definitely be back.

A delightful dining experience! My hubby had the chicken biryani and I had the bierock pie with fattoush. We would have licked the biryani bowl if we had not been in public! We were welcomed to the neighborhood by the owner, Ali, and he even helped spur conversation between my hubby and me by getting my hubby to put his iPhone down to chat with me. We will definitely be back again!

Found this by looking at Yelp. Glad I paid attention to the reviews because it is WONDERFUL! I've never had baba ganoujsh before, but this was great. We settled for the beef shawarma and chicken spinach wraps. Very delicious, very reasonable prices! Most meals are between $6.99-$7.99. Even the owner came over several times during dinner to see what we thought. But before we even got to that point, he offered several recommendations. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

Great food and great location. I like the intimate feel of the place and have enjoyed everything I've tried. Mediterranean food. Patio seating available when the weather is nice and lots of windows inside. Nice owner.

This is good food but it is the service and the personal attention that the owner-management gives to customers that brings me back repeatedly to this restaurant. If you like N&J's cuisine, you will probably also like the College Hill Deli & Catering. If you like cakes from PIcadilly then you will also love their desserts. We have eaten here over many years and not everything we tried was to my satisfaction, hence the 5 stars, BUT one might argue that College Hill has possibly the best hummus in Wichita, for which I would give it 6 1/2 stars out of 5! We also enjoy the chicken shwarma wraps with sweet potato fries very much. I have ventured into some of the more European items on the menu, but haven't enjoyed them nearly as much. The Middle Eastern food is what you need to try. There are items on the catering menu, such as the artichoke chicken, that are not served in the restaurant, so explore both menus. Make time to be friendly to the managers. They are wonderfully friendly people. And try the desserts!

Sometimes when I'm headed downtown I like to drive down Douglas Avenue rather than take I-135. It's a little bit longer of a drive, but I get to look at all the nice looking little restaurants that pop up along the thoroughfare (also, I get a chance to see if Kirstie Alley is hanging around her house). College Hill Deli is one of these places, sharing a parking lot with Dolci and Joe's and owned by the former proprietors of Old Town Martini Steakhouse, the closing of which has unfortunately left us with Whiskey Creek as the only steakhouse in Old Town. College Hill Deli isn't so much a deli as it is Mediterranean, offering things like schwarma and gyros (though there are a few turkey wraps on there, as well), and while I roll my eyes at another Fattoush salad, I was still pretty happy with my meal, starting with hummus at the behest of Chris S. The addition of diced tomatoes and a Kalamata olive centerpiece created a nice presentation, and created a slightly different flavor from the hummus I've eaten oh so many times before. The falafel wrap had a nice crunch from the fried chickpeas, and along with the diced onion, tomatoes, a chopped pickle (nonstandard, but I like pickles, so you won't hear any complaints from me, thank you very much), and a tzatziki-ish sauce, it made me forget I originally came here with a mindset geared more towards Reubens (though they have those, too). Sweet potato fries are almost always better than their white counterparts, and a generous salt and peppering made these pretty enjoyable. The menu is a bit scattershot, between the Mediterranean stuff, the deli stuff, the pasta dishes they offer for dinner, and the nice-looking treats in the display case by the register. It would seem like College Hill Deli is looking to please as many palettes as possible, but it comes at a lack of overall quality. Perhaps they will hone their menu's focus over time, or perhaps I could just shut up and eat my hummus. I'm leaning towards the latter.

Great little spot for an inexpensive lunch or dinner! I had the tropical salad and it was delicious--the fruit was so fresh! I was in Wichita on business and this was definitely the best meal I had all trip. Very friendly staff, too.

I think the prime rule of real estate applies to this particular restaurant, that being location, location, location. Having walked, rode, and driven by this location I finally was able to remember it and not on a Sunday. The name to me was a bit misleading. I guess I was expecting more of a delicatessen then what the menu seemed to offer. As Brad S. has already pointed out the menu while offering a large sampling of choices has more of a Mediterranean influence over anything else. Just to preface this I am currently a bit spoiled on Mediterranean food having recently just been there. The hummus was actually very tasty and not nearly as bland as some restaurants are serving in Wichita. I ordered the gyro which turned out to be a bit lackluster. The tzatziki sauce while tasty was applied a bit too liberally and pretty much overpowered the rest of the gyro. The meat while still tasty didn't have the same flavoring and zest it does in Greece. One theory I have is that the meat isn't cut of a vertical rotisserie as is tradition in Greece but I can't back that up. Next time I think I am going to try the Philly or a bit more traditional of a choice. By no means was the food bad, the service was excellent, and it was cheap to boot. As I said I think this place really benefits from its location in that it is a casual stroll from a large portion of College Hill and offers up a tasty lunch selection. Just a word of caution as it seems with most small eateries in Wichita I believe they are closed on Sundays. I will be back, just not sure exactly how I will be arriving there.
