LET IT HENCEFORTH BE KNOWN THAT IF YOU SERVE YOUR SPAGHETTI AND SAUCE SEPARATELY YOU WILL NOT SEE MY BUSINESS TWICE I thought Wichita Italian turned a corner with Luca and Bocconcini, but as Ciao (and the crowd which populated it on Wednesday night) proved there's still a place for the red-checkered tablecloths around here. Unfortunately. I had the Puttanesca. It looked to me like it was an attempt at a modification of the standard house red sauce, as I was only able to find trace amounts of capers, a hint of red pepper, and no olives or anchovies to be found. On the plus side, it does look like a bit of work went into making the sauce, and I thought it was overall a pretty good marinara. As a Puttanesca, not so much. It came with several pieces of meat thrown on top - a broken meatball (nice, though a little too much binder for my tastes), some Italian sausage sliced on the bias (no texture to the casing), and some chicken breast. I could go the rest of my life without eating another bland chicken breast. I was worried when it took literally three minutes from the time I ordered to the time my plate was sitting in front of me. And my worst fears were realized: overcooked noodles that had previously been sitting in water, sitting below a couple of ladles of sauce. This is not how you make a coherent pasta dish. To properly marry the sauce, you need to cook the noodles 3/4 of the way - just before al dente - and finish them in the sauce. That way, the starch in the noodles helps bind to the sauce, and the diner is not left showing rounded forkfuls of slightly-tinted noodles into his slowly-saddening face. The bread was "freshly baked" - i.e. previously frozen in a factory somewhere and finished in the oven. I'm glad that Ciao seemed busy, because that space was squandered under two failed Melad Stephan ventures. But in most other ways, I'm disappointed that there's still Italian places like this with newfound success in 2011. Sure, I need my red sauce fix as much as the next guy, but not when restaurants continue to think it's okay to serve it like this. There was a suspiciously extensive menu at Ciao, but I've seen all I need to see.

We recently went to the new Ciao on the west side. My husband's family had been there before, but this was our first time. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere and the whole experience, but I can't say that it's the best italian restaurant ever. We ordered the appetizer sampler, which was basically filled with different fried foods. There were only a couple of each side, which was a disappointment since it wasn't that cheap and there were 6 of us sharing it. I might be a little too picky though - I think everyone else enjoyed it! My meal was very good, but very rich. There was no way I could finish it all, so I had plenty of leftovers! If you're looking for a change from Olive Garden, definitely try this place out. As for me...I'm going to keep looking for a stand-out italian place in Wichita.

Bottom Line: not coming back. :( I went in with 3 others friends, we shared an appetizer and each had our own entrees. We got the sampler appetizer and the only semi-good thing was the fried cheese. Calamari was basically all breading which was super disappointing :(! Our entrees were lacking flavor and skimpy on the ingredients. The mannicotti was dry and crispy from being overcooked also. To make matters worse, our server was a newbie. He was very crass. Ciao has to train their servers better than that! We still gave him a good tip for trying lol.

When you and your date are pining for The Olive Garden, you know you've stumbled onto a dud of a restaurant. We were greeted pretty quickly and seated in a quiet section of the restaurant and the waiter arrived at our table fairly quickly. My girlfriend recognized him from Jimmie's Diner and said he'd likely be fairly quick and courteous - the latter was true, though he explicitly told us he was not all that thrilled with working at this place. Our appetizer came out fairly quickly and was ok. From this point, a few eons passed before we received our food. I'm not sure what was going on, but on no less than three occasions on our visit, did our server get dressed down by the manager on duty. In the kitchen door, on the floor and elsewhere. There was a table of 9-10 ladies behind us that he was serving and it didn't seem like things were going their way since the manager had to keep updating them on the status of their meal. A little over a half-hour later, our meal finally came. We both ordered the "Gemeli" (Chicken Parm & Lasagna) - and this is where the downhill slide picked up. The tomato sauce had a funk of sorts to it. Was trying to figure if it was a wine-influenced sauce, because if so, the wine almost overrode the tomato part of the equation. Never thought to ask since I was so annoyed with the meal. I'm not going to even start on the lasagna which had issues with a lack of cheese, though the sausage that was included was fairly decent. In all, I'd advise against this place. I love to support local businesses, but only when they deserve it. Certainly hasn't in this case.

Loved it! Great food and very reasonable prices. Been back twice already. The only negative thing I can say, is that it was very dark where we we're seated the second time. We had to use the flashlights on our phone to see the menu.

We visited Ciao last night, and I am stunned by some of the previous reviews, because we had a wonderful experience. The wait-staff was superb, quick, personable, attentive, and more than willing to help make suggestions, see how we were doing, etc. The food was incredible, easily the best thing I have eaten in Wichita in a long time. Admittedly, I am not a foody, nor Italian, so I can't really speak to whether it would pass the test of a true professional chef tasting it, but for us, it was stunning. The bruschetta was unbelievably flavorful, my Seafood Di Mare was incredible, and my wife's chicken with salami dish won her approval as well. They had a reasonable kid's menu, so will be able to visit with our children in tow next time, and I can guarantee there will be a next time. I am mostly confused by the other reviews, because they certainly don't mirror the experience we had, either with the food or the service.

I had read the varied reviews on this restaurant and decided to check it out for myself. I had lunch at Ciao's and I was very pleased. Good food. Reasonable portions. And very good service. The problems I had read about in earlier reviews were not apparent as I dined today. A pleasant ambience, and very affordable prices. I will be back!

Ciao ~ Italian very similar to another ~ On the rating scale of bad-good-excellent, Wichita's Ciao Italian Kitchen comes in on the mediocre side of good. Perhaps with some improvements in service and upgrading the tableware, it could slide solidly into the center of good. Being able to write your name with two crayons backwards and up-side-down does not translate to a good waitress. Perhaps it was inexperience, perhaps poor training, perhaps she just didn't care - any way the waitress failed on many levels: (1) Lack of knowledge regarding cocktails - we're talking simple martinis. (2) Brusque wine service (a) I don't care if the pinot grigio had a screw-off cap, some decorum in presenting and pouring the wine goes far to setting the tone of dining experience (b) And, this was probably not her problem, but a wine cooler on/beside the table would have been nice for a chilled white wine. Management take heed! (3) Her complete unfamiliarity with the menu. When I ordered the Cannelloni Bianco and specified the seafood Florentine stuffing, she thought I was ordering soup! (4) Down two out of the four Cannelloni Bianco, she inquires about dessert which we decline. Down two and one-half cannelloni, the ticket is on the table, and she is done with us. But, she demurs, "There's no rush." Table maintenance was abysmal. Our used appetizer plates and first glasses of wine we chose as a cocktail (because we could not learn what martinis were offered!) remained on the table until the time we departed. Why - please tell me - why the gargantuan plastic Coke glasses for water glasses? If anything, these repulsively large, plastic water vessels represent the lack of refinement that was the undercurrent of the whole dining experience. The food was all too similar to another: Olive Garden. My husband was not displeased with his Pollo Arrosto and the small taste I had of it was agreeable. The rosemary potatoes, however, while enjoyably seasoned, were tepid. The only fault I found with my Cannelloni Bianco was the microscopic shrimp in the seafood Florentine. Taste and presentation were acceptable. The bread, however, was inexcusably processed: plastic, tasteless, no texture, not even crispy brown. Bleh! The calamari appetizer was a solid clump of rings and tentacles - no separate pieces - the breading had everything welded together: on the cusp of acceptable flavor, wretched presentation. Yep, it is affordable, but, affordable for a reason. Would I go back? Probably not. Date of Visit: 9June2012

I guess for Italian food in Wichita its alriiiiight. Definitely not a real family Italian restaurant... but the food I had was edible plus they have Peroni beer!

I was really excited to check this place out because I love Italian. My friend , two daughters, and I decided to go out for a late lunch. When we walked into the restaurant it looked like a tornado hit it. The floor was filthy and a lot of dirty tables. Which is common after a busy lunch but never the less they need to keep up on the cleanliness. We all sat down at our table that was so wobbly that it knocked over the bottle of olive oil that was atop. We waited for over ten minutes before a server finally acknowledged us. She just dropped off two silver ware (even though there were four of us) and told us our server would be right with us. A few minutes after the original waitress who dropped off the silverware said she would be taking care of us. I ordered the kids a pizza to share and myself the tort with alfredo and grilled chicken. I had also ordered the chicken gnocchi soup but they were out of that. The server brought by some bread for the table but only brought a plate for my friend and I not for my children. So no silverware for the kids or plates? I know they are kids but they deserver better respect than that! Finally the food came out and my pasta was obviously not fresh, you could tell that it was frozen and severely over cooked. the alfredo sauce was obviously instant or from a can. very disappointing! you can't even make your own alfredo sauce? the server never came back to check on us. after 20 mins of my food sitting there because it was so disgusting I finally had to flag another server to find my server and bring her to the table. At that point i was just angry...crappy food, crappy service and my children's and my drinks completely empty. I got my tab and left..probably never to return. Over all a HUGE disappointment!

I tried Ciao for lunch today and was neither enthralled nor disappointed...it was a good lunch. The menu is very expansive and I will need to come back for dinner to get the full effect, this trip I went the healthy route and ordered their traditional salad with salmon. The drinks came in MASSIVE plastic coke cups followed by hot bread with olive oil and herbs. When the salads came out the first thing to notice is the portions...they are HUGE! I watched pasta dishes and other items come out of the open kitchen and all of them were portions as big as your head. My salad was very good, the salmon was cooked just right, and the cost was astoundingly cheap! Everything on the menu is very affordable, the portions are large, the decor is okay, and the location seems suspect since every restaurant that owned the space prior had failed. What it felt like was a local take on an Olive Garden. Safe. Good. Middle of the road. Will I go back? Yes. Will I rant and rave about it? No. Should you try it? I would say yes, I think it will come into its own over the next few months and continue to improve. It certainly is a hot topic these days with friends when making dinner plans but if I'm in the mood for Italian food...I'm going to Luciano's in Mulvane.

Atmosphere was very nice, but we were totally disappointed that the service and food didn't live up to the surroundings. First, the booth had a spring broken, and there was dented up walls where the table had almost put a hole through the wall. The paninis were such a letdown. Who wants to eat a panini on the same bread they just gave you two loaves of while waiting on your food. It was tasteless. The two meager slices of meat on the sandwich was disguised by all the lettuce and cheap fillers. The marinara sauce on the spaghetti tasted like tomato sauce with no seasoning. Charged two dollars for an extra tablespoon of sauce for it. Charged extra for salad dressing. When it was brought to the waiter's attention, he said he was sorry and would fix it. He came back with the exact same bill hoping we wouldn't notice. We did, and then he called the manager over, who said she understood we didn't want to pay for the "boat" of sauce. We showed showed her the one inch cup that the tablespoon of sauce had been in and asked if she would pay two dollars for that. Or if she would pay extra for salad dressing. She apologized, after embarrassing us, and took it off the bill. Our money was wasted, and we would not ever recommend ciao's to anyone, ever.

I have newly discovered Ciao and am very glad I did. It is wonderful to know there are affordable restaurant options with such value. I have tried several things on the menu and have yet to find one that I don't like! The servers have all been very eager to please and it is exciting to see this business growing as a locally owned Wichita restaurant. Ciao!

The food was fantastic (we got spinach artichoke dip as an app, i got gnocchi and my friend got a tomato portabello sandwich). The bar drinks were good (had a peach frozen thing with raspberry). The service though was awful. We waited 5-6 minutes for anyone to even come over. Then when the waitress did, we had a hard time ordering anything from her because she kept walking away without saying much. Waters ordered - walked away, Drinks ordered - walked away, app ordered - walked away...we probably could've ordered everything at once... Then she forgot the drinks and the main courses came out at different times (which is just a pet peeve of mine). We were sort of in a hurry to get somewhere and almost missed it since things took a whole. i really hope this was a fluke in service because it really could've been a good experience.

So the door was heavy when we came in that is the first thing I noticed. We were greeted right as we walked in. They have a very extensive menu. The salad is really good and pretty big. I suggest sharing a salad if you are with someone. They bring out fresh bread with a rosemary spread that is surprisingly delicious. . Service is very good atleast while we were there. Entrées are huge as are the beverages. We went around 5 pm around shift change. But from the look of the place it looks like a great dinner place for romance.

Disappointing, mediocre at best. I went here for dinner with a group of work colleagues, all of us from out of town. The beer I ordered came out in a bottle, no glass. Do I really need to ask for a glass in a restaurant? My lasagna bianca came out piping hot bubbling cheese, but on the inside the mushrooms were cold and the pasta doughy. My colleague's pizza was missing the sun-dried tomatoes, which was the ingredient she really wanted. On the up side, the wait staff was attentive, falling all over themselves making excuses why the two lasagna plates were running late. The prices seem pretty reasonable but the food nothing to get excited about and in my case, a big let down. This is a restaurant that appears to be trying hard but doesn't quite have it all together.

Pros: Wine reasonably priced, Insalata Frutta di Campo is excellent. Cons: So noisy we'll never return - they need to add some sound absorbing panels. Appetizer sampler was awful - heavily breaded, tasteless and all fried items (yes, I should have read the menu more carefully, but even fried food is tasty when done properly!). Main course was large but nothing to brag about. We were hoping to be more positive, but we were very disappointed.

We came here for my grandmother and mother's birthdays. They did a great job ensuring we had seating for the reservation we made. I thoght the food was ok, the lasagna I had was great with the sauce, but once I ate through that (the sauce was slopped on top of the lasagna and cooked throughout the pasta layers) the pasta and cheese were relatively bland. My brother loved his sirloin tips in noodles and the prices were relatively inexpensive. This place kind of seemed quirky to me, almost as if they are trying to make the restaurant be more than it truly is. The shifting colored lights were a distraction, where they could have put in more simple lighting and spent some money on actual table cloths. The Crayons and paper tops to the tables were interesting, but for an adult at a restaurant it can be kind of a draw back. It's like eating at an italian restaurant that Chuck E Cheeze tried to modify minus the games. All in all the food was ok, and inexpensive. Other than that, not a top ten place in my book.

My fiancé and I ate at ciao last week, we are Italian food fanatics. I ordered the chicken piccata and my fiancé ordered the veal piccata. My dish was made completely wrong, chicken piccata comes with a chicken breast pounded flat with a wine cream sauce. What I got was a full sized chicken Brest that was dry with rancid tasting capers and canned artichoke hearts. The canned artichoke juice overpowered the entire dish and the alcohol wasn't even cooked out of the wine in the sauce. My fiancé's veal was so tough that I gave up trying it when I couldn't cut through the veal with my knife. You should be able to cut through veal with a fork. We each took a few bites and couldn't bare the plate of canned artichoke juice. Also we were told by our server that ciao was a scratch kitchen but their pasta wasn't even from scratch. All in all a bad experience.

This restaurant has a great atmosphere and vibe to it. The menu is reasonably priced and you definitely get a lot of food(I had to take some home and that never happens). Ciao may not be perfect but it's a great place and I will be returning for sure.

I've been here three times since the start of the year. I'd rate my first two trips a 4 and my last trip a 1 -- but it's "what have you done for me lately" right? So I'm going with a 2 for my review. My first two trips -- liked the food (had a salad with fruit, candied nuts, grilled chicken; second time had fettucini alfredo with chicken), portions were big, italian margarita was yummy, service was average/acceptable. Last trip -- the service was terrible and the food was OK for some in our party and not good for others. But it was the service that really frustrated us. Here are the details: - we had to ask for the coffee we ordered 3 times - our appetizer came out (via a server) before we had plates & it was a good 5-7 minutes before our waiter stopped by once we'd received the appetizer. He asked us how the appetizer was even though it was clear it had not been touched. We asked for plates (it was a messy appetizer). It took another 5-7 minutes before he brought the plates. - it took 50 minutes from the time we ordered to receive our food (there were 4 of us) and we were only served after a manager stopped by the table to ask how our meal was & we told him we'd been waiting 45 minutes. - our waiter disappeared for 20 minutes at a time - the waiter asked how the food was and my husband told him his pizza roll was greasy and burned (and the most burned part was left on the plate) -- the waiter's response: "huh, that usually doesn't happen." No offer to take if off the bill or have another one prepared. Why even ask if you don't really care??? This was a Wednesday night and there were two groups of 8 people but the restaurant was not full. So I don't think that's an excuse. I think they have logistical issues & this particular waiter was not good. I also think the manager should have been a little more attentive when he realized how long we'd waited.

I had not been to Ciao for over a year, but recently decided to give it another try. The last time we were with a large group and it was rather chaotic, I remembered the food being o.k., but wanted to give it another try. Our waiter was actually really great. He mentioned that all of the dishes were made from scratch and none were pre-made ahead of time but actually at the time of order. I believe this to be a little deceiving... for one, the pasta itself does not have the taste of made-from-scratch. The sauces I suppose could be. The one thing I remembered from the first visit was the funny taste of their meatballs. And I experienced this during this last visit too. We ordered the lasagna and the meat had a funny taste, almost like meat that had been re-heated. So I'm wondering if they prep their meat and re-heat it when they are preparing the dish. We also ordered the Gnocchi, it was really good! I would not "rave" about the food here, but it's not bad. I would return, but probably not order anything with ground beef. It is reasonably priced and their bread is great. Wichita is still in dire need of a consistently good, truly original italian restaurant!

Great experience! My lady friend and I were really bummed when Johnny Carino's closed; we really loved the atmosphere and the kitchen staff had no problem altering dishes a little to suit your own taste, i. e. Different sauce, add capers, etc. If you go to Olive Garden and ask for this they just give you the look that says "ain't happenin". We decided to try Ciao because we were in the area and had never been. WE'RE DEFINITELY GOING BACK! The restaurant was a nice, intimate size with an outdoor patio for when it gets nicer. Our waiter, Carlos, was thoroughly familiar with their menu and was thoughtful, friendly and patient as this was our 1st visit and their menu presented many tempting choices. As a matter of habit, whenever we try a new Italian restaurant we always order the calamari. What an excellent choice! It was wonderful; lightly yet crisply breaded and not overcooked (rubbery) like happens at some other places. I had the side ceaser salad which came with a generous number of anchovy filets and the fresh-made dressing was light & delightfully flavorful. My entree was a mixed grill of several meats, expertly prepared-smoky and flavorful. My friend ordered a veal containing dish and was disappointed to find the veal to be fiberous and chewy. When Carlos came by to check on us and heard how disappointed she was, he immediately produced the menu and insisted she choose another dish which was expeditiously produced and much better. The chef came by a little later to apologize and ensure everything else was to our expectations, and mentioned veal can be a bit of a "crap shoot", meaning you never know if it's going to turn out tough or tender. We also make a habit of ordering the tiramisu and ours was excellent! Overall, we are satisfied with our experience which we felt was a good value and we are definitely going back soon! If you go, ask for Carlos and he'll ensure you have a great dinner!

Not quite 3 stars. The wait staff was average at best. The food was good but nothing that provokes a urge to return as soon as possible. It is convenient and a change of pace for the east side and Waterfront area. Although, competition for evening dining is so strong, not sure yet where and if this will fall into the rotation of dinning out. We'll give it one more try before making a declaration of "last call".

This is one of the only places that take real reservations I planed my moms 50th bday party here and the staff did every thing and above that they could they even held our cake that we brought with us and even lit the candles where my mom could not see to add to the surprise and Even accepted a pice of cake that we offered !!! On top of all this the food is freaking awesome with the open kitchen and the prices are so cheap for what you get but don't let that fool you it's still a high class place !!!!!!!! I would give it 10 stars if I could !!!!!

I had to call them to get someone to come out front to seat us. The lady was unapologetic and did not seem to care at all when I told her how long we had waited. The server was very nice, the food was ok.

Gross, eat here at your own risk. Frozen, bland, soggy, and stale is what you can expect. The waitstaff is nice though and even steered me away from the really bad dishes. The cherry on top was the general uncleanliness of the place. My wife had two shades of lipstick on her drinking glass, neither was hers. No one finished their dinner.

Talk about ruining dinner on a Friday evening. Great place aesthetically, but when you get to your table you really get to know the mickey mouse operation they're running here. Food-If I wanted Ramen noodles with vomit on top this would be the place to go. Service-try harder, aren't you working for tips. Management-typically you can tell who's in charge, Not here....so I wouldn't bother bringing up any issues to these individuals, I wonder if they would even know how to count a drawer...what a joke.

My family went to Ciao tonight for dinner. I've been here many times and thoroughly enjoy it. Bruschetta is a nice appetizer; Tomato Florentine Soup is superb; Salad with berries, feta, and nuts with a berry dressing is very good. Ciao has a great family-friendly atmosphere. The staff is cordial (waiter named Brandon was so friendly) MUCH better than Olive Garden! Definitely recommend this place!

A great place for dinner with consistently good food in a fun, comfortable environment. The food is flavorful without being overwhelming. Everything is on the heavy and large side, so either be prepared to take home leftovers or leave extra full. We love sitting on the patio when the weather is nice.

It's a shame - this used to be my second favorite restaurant in Wichita. In the few months since I've been out of town, this place fell way downhill. The manager is the obvious problem. They used to greet you with a (cheesy) "ciao!" as you walked in and write their name on your table, then bring bread. None of that happened. We ordered salads, asked for bread, and ordered entrées. After 15 minutes and seeing our waiter stand and watch wheel of fortune, we got our entrées, no salad, bread, or apology. We left, without the cheesy "ciao", and don't intend on coming back.

I'm not normally a person that is compelled to review restaurants but my experience here was bad enough to motivate me. Service was mediocre due mostly to the fact that our server had no personality and hardly spoke above a whisper the entire time we were there. I ordered the chicken saltimbocca which, upon arrival, looked delicious. I had a couple bites and enjoyed the flavor...until I noticed that the entire top half of my chicken breast was pink and rubbery. And here I thought I ordered saltimbocca...not salmonella! I brought it to the attention of the server who didn't say he was sorry, he'd get it fixed right away, nothing like that. He took it back to the kitchen and came back a few minutes later and asked if I wanted something else. I figured I'd give the dish another shot but when it was re-presented, I had pretty much lost my appetite. Although a manager was present and visible and was actively fixing an adjacent table's issue, she never once came to our table to apologize or talk to us about the raw chicken. The kicker is that the dish was removed from the bill...with the description underneath saying "customer didn't like." No, sorry, undercooked chicken just isn't my taste. Disappointing experience and we won't be going back. I doubt this place will last much longer anyway.

Attended a farewell dinner here. We had quite a large party so to be a little slow is understandable. However, the service was horrible and the food was merely mediocre. I do not recommend this restaurant for a nice Italian meal.

Honestly, if i could rate this as a 0, I would. This was the worst Italian food I have EVER had. The service was okay, but the food was absolutely disgusting. I ordered the Veal piccata and my fiancé ordered the chicken piccata. There was nothing fresh about the ingredients that made up our meals. My veal was tough, our sauces tasted like they came from a jar, the capers tasted like they came straight out of a can, the artichokes also tasted canned, etc. Overall it was a terrible experience.

Unfortunately, this restaurant is slipping badly. Last few visits have been pretty woeful in terms of service, but last week's deserves a new write-up. Stood at the front desk for 10-15 minutes...not because there weren't any tables or we didn't have a reservation...but because no one was hosting. Sat at our table with no service for a while before our drink order was taken....and then sat there for another 10 minutes before they arrived. Bread had to be asked for...it used to be very good...it was no longer the fresh bread with substance it used to be...but some commercial, dry, tasteless imitation of bread. Orders were finally taken for food....the previously tremendous calzones were awful. Just a huge chunk of breading with a lot of cheese. My salmon and potato dish that was supposed to come with a lemon sauce was absolutely swimming in oil...nothing lemon about it. The food was slapped on the table (with two people's incorrectly served) before I finally called the server over (he'd moved on to another table) and pointed out that every glass on the table was empty and had been for some time and that we had not been offered cheese or pepper with our food. I didn't even bother getting into the salads that had been ordered with the dressing on the side. Not sure what the heck has changed, but it seems that the staff retention may be a problem...because no one seemed like they knew what the heck they were doing.

Not a good place. Trying to find a reason to be more positive, but I can't. The service was bad, but she was nice so I'll ignore that and say she's probably new. The food is what makes this place stand out as horrible. I ordered the (mix your own option) angel hair with Arrabiata sauce, and added 3 meatballs. My wife ordered pasta di Mare (seafood w/fettucini in a white sauce). When our orders came, I noticed mine was made w/penne instead, but thought "nevermind". It wasn't the pasta style that was wrong. There is SO much oil/grease in that sauce that it may be flammable, and make you sick (it did to me). The red sauce? Globs of tomatoes (as sauce) and so many red pepper flakes that they stuck together at times. I know arrabiata sauce is supposed to be hot and I like it that way, but this was over the top. The meatballs? They were tender enough, but...they had fennel seeds in them. If I wanted that, I'd order Italian sausage. Who puts fennel seeds (licorice flavor) in meatballs anyway? There's a reason nobody else does that. My wife's fettucine seafood (that she said was awful and I agreed after one try) was bland and watery. Like the shrimp was cooked seperately and thrown in at the end. Starters? You get bread w/olive oil. Easy right? Nope. The bread shattered into crumbs so that the piece you tried to dip into the oil couldn't do it very well. The bread shards blocked you. It was as if it was stored half-cooked and then thrown into an oven at the end. When asked if our almost full bowls needed a take-home box, we simply asked for the check. You see two almost untouched entree's and ask if we'd like it to go? She DID ask if everything was OK during the beginning though. I gave it up as a lost cause and simply said nothing. I'll be shocked if this place is still open by years end. Curiosity can sustain this place for only so long.

In three words: Prescription Drug Use I have never, in my entire life, had a worse dining experience. I do not exaggerate when I say that the server and her General Manager were very clearly on some kind of prescription drug. It took 30 minutes to get a glass of water, and when our stoned waitress came out to speak with us, she could hardly talk and was stumbling over herself. She then proceeded to take our order using a crayon and leaning close to our faces to read the menu because an order of penne pasta with marinara sauce was apparently incomprehensible to her. We waited another 30 minutes to get the complimentary bread (brought by someone else). When I politely spoke to the host (who was gracious with me) the GM came out and virtually slammed our wine on the table. Our waitress then came out 20 minutes later and had forgotten we ordered a salad (almost an hour prior). We decided we could not stay for the meal, as it was now 9:00pm and asked to speak directly to the GM. She came out and was in a similar state as the waitress. She was slurring her words and was also clearly stoned. #spoileralert to whomever owns this place: you will go out of business. Extremely sad and very disturbing.

Suppose to be Gluten free friendly, don't come here for a good gluten free experience! Staff isn't trained and the gluten free dishes were lacking. No gluten free pasta, which was disappointing. Ordered the 1 gluten free appetizer and they served it with bread. My dish was to have veal, but they're out. Then they finally bring me my meal and it's sitting on pasta. On a positive note, if you're looking for a place to work, great place for that as most of the staff spent the night standing around and conversing. At least when I finally got the right food it was good and they comp'd my meal which saved my star rating, until I started feeling sick on the way home. What a miserable night :(

They could have been having an off night but I don't think I will be returning. When I went they appeared to be pretty busy with about two-thirds of the tables filled. I was with 2 other people and after we had our order taken we waited 50 minutes before receiving our food. While waiting I could hear staff in the kitchen being noisy; it sounded like people were arguing and throwing pans around. I ordered ravioli with seafood but it was very undercooked. I also asked for white sauce but they gave me red. I couldn't find my waitress so I asked another if I could have it replaced and asked for chicken instead. This time they brought it out in what felt like 5 minutes. However the ravioli were frozen, I couldn't even cut them. I understand sometimes there are delays but serving cold food is pretty off-putting.

I have been to Ciao's three times, and the food has been incredible each time. The portions are ample, the atmosphere pleasing and the prices are VERY reasonable.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
