Went here with a big group during lunch. Inside is really nice. It is a combination of Friday's and your typically asian restaurant. They have good lunch specials and a small bar to watch games. The staff is nice. They can hold a pretty decent-sized group in the bar but have a dining area too. The Generals chicken was pretty solid.

After all these years, I finally tried this place and I must say... I can't believe it took me this long! I had the Egg Foo Young and I thought the portion size was plenty. I really liked the dish, however, I don't have anywhere else to compare it to because that's the first time I tried the dish anywhere. The Mongolian Beef was also very good. There was a lot of onions in it, but I love onions so I didn't mind. I tasted my friend's hot and sour soup and egg drop soup and both of those are good, too. I will definitely have to remember this place for the next time I'm craving Chinese food. I also like how the restaurant is clean and inviting inside.

If you are traveling for work and don't have many options go with Jimmy Johns. If you can't help but order - avoid the mangolian beef.

I have been wanting to try Beijing Bistro for quite a while. I talked a co-worker in ordering in off of the lunch menu today.... well I had to apologize to my co-worker. The lady that greeted me was very nice and helpful. The person who took my order was rude. When I placed my 1st order it seemed expensive for a 6.99 lunch special so I asked. She told me the price was right and I explained that for the price she told me the Dr. Pepper would have to be almost 4.00. She told me know that the "Free" soup was actually 1.99. I asked why and she told me because I was ordering to go. I explained that it was not on the menu as "dine in only" and she said it didn't matter, that's just the way it is. After getting my food there was nothing special about it either. The beef/broccoli did have fresh broccoli but the sauce was not good. The spring roll was bland and oily , the fried rice was very bland even with soy sauce. For the price I will never go back as I saw no value in compared to the food. For the service I will never go back as the wait staff was very rude and not accommodating to what they had advertised online and was also in the menu. For the quality and price I can go to Dillon's at Rock & Central or Rock & 21st and get twice as much food, multiple selections, and pay less; and they are friendlier!!

After a long day at work, I was dragged here by my co-workers for the all-you-can-eat crab legs special. I was in no mood and lacked the patience to struggle with crab legs, so I ordered off the regular menu. We started off with some crab rangoon and pan-fried potstickers. The crab rangoon was honestly one of the best I have ever had. The wontons were fresh and fried perfectly. However, all that they gave us was the generic squeeze bottle of duck sauce to use as a dipping sauce. That ruined the dish. How hard would it have been to whip up a sweet chili sauce to serve on the side? The potstickers were average, nothing to write home about. I ordered the sesame chicken and was disappointed. The chicken pieces were very small and the batter was too thick. The sauce was lacking in flavor and a little too syrupy. Not to mention the dish lacked the most simple ingredient...sesame seeds! The dish came with soup, but when I asked for wonton soup she told me it would be an upcharge of $1.99. Seriously? And the kicker is that if you ordered the crab legs, there was no upcharge. This did not make any sense to me at all. I understand that the crab legs is a more expensive menu item, but paying $10.95 for sesame chicken isn't really a value. But speaking of the crab legs...Beijing Bistro tries their hardest to fill you up before they bring out those damn crabs! This makes it a very long and frustrating process...especially for those in the party who didn't even order them (aka- ME!) They first bring out the soup and wait for you to finish that. Then they bring out a large plate of fried rice. Finally after you have filled up on those two, they start to bring out the crab legs. I counted and 48 minutes passed between the time the crab legs were ordered and the time they actually appeared on the table. So by they time you finally get the crab legs, you are too tired and full to eat many of them. Well played Beijing Bistro. You've mastered the art of charging your customers $20 for crab legs and getting by with serving them the least amount possible.

Lunch prices are very reasonable - you get soup, entree, rice and crab rangoon for under $8. Their dinner prices looked higher, but I've not been there for dinner in a few years. Service is quick and the food is served very hot. I had the Empress Chicken -- similar to a General Tso's chicken. I expected it to be a little spicy with some chilis in it, but it was closer to a Sweet and Sour chicken with some veggies. Still, it was tasty. The breading was not too thick, and it stayed crispy even with the sauce on it. The rice was standard. Hot and sour soup had no hot to it. Nothing "spicy" here is actually spicy, but the food is flavorful and portion sizes are good. The dining room has a really nice upscale feel to it -- booths are private, they have a great full bar, and the restaurant is VERY clean inside.

This place is over price for quality of food they serve. Very nice setting but don't waste your money.

Dined in the past and had a good experience. Hot and sour soup was great. Placed a to go order of hot and sour soup tonight and it was not good. Went into the restaurant and stood there for 5 min and no one even knew I had come in. I ended up calling the restaurant to get their attention. Paid almost $10 for 2 medium containers of soup (they considered it a large) but had to wait another 3 minutes for them to get some change. The soup was very very very bland, neither hot nor sour. Embarrassed because I raved about it to my cousin and got it for her to try. I will give them a 3rd try for a tie breaker, but I'm going to Great Wall for my next Chinese fix

I've been eating at Beijing Bistro for several years. Still better than most Chinese places in the area, quality of both food and service has slipped recently. On my last visit, I ordered the sweet and sour chicken lunch special and a glass of water. When my meal arrived, I was surprised to receive a pile of fried potatoes in place of my egg roll. No mention was made of the substitution when I ordered. Also, my glass of water didn't arrive until I was halfway through my meal. As I mentioned earlier, this place is still better than most and I'll continue eating there from time to time. It's too bad it isn't as good as it used to be.

Beijing Bistro seems to be trying quite hard to put an upscale twist on its food, but from what I've seen and eaten, it seems largely the same as many other Chinese restaurants around here in that it sticks to the familiar protein-vegetable-sauce combo that everyone loves. This is no more obvious than the lunch menu. Do I want the sweet and sour pork, the sweet and sour shrimp, or the sweet and sour chicken? Chicken/beef/pork/shrimp chow mein? Beef or Pork in garlic sauce? Yeah, they got the beef and broccoli and moo goo gai pan, but overall it's not really as diverse of a menu as it would seem. After much indecision, I went with the pork in garlic sauce, which had a little picture of a pepper next to it, so I was sure to ask for extra spicy. It wasn't extra spicy. Not even normal spicy. The sauce was... saucy? Nothing particularly stood out here except for the egg drop soup, which seemed quite thick. Looking at some pictures and the menu, it looks like dinner is a much better time to visit, though I think it's still trying to put lipstick on a pig. Recommend a wine pairing for the Sesame Chicken all you want - it's still Sesame Chicken. It does look like there might be some gems to discover - the roast duck dish looked interesting - but not enough for me to really go out of my way to find out.

Was not impressed with the food or the service. Everything tasted very bland. No draft beer as advertised...

I have to give 5 stars because every visit I have is great. It's always clean, we are seated promptly, and the service is good. I always order the same dish, sesame chicken. I usually go for a glass of the white merlot to accompany my dish, however on my last visit, they were out. I debated if I wanted another drink because everything else seemed fruity but I settled with a Bloody Mary. I was pleasantly surprised on how much flavor it had. I love bloody Mary's and I'm picky with the flavor. Usually I ask for mine extra spicy and usually the bartenders take into consideration but my drink comes out tasting like tabasco sauce. The bartender at Beijing Bistro knew exactly how to make this one. It was a decent sized drink and came with a full celery stalk as garnish. My husband also gets the sesame chicken, so I can't comment much on the other menu items, but I get mine with hot and sour soup, he gets egg drop. Both are good. The main dish also comes with a side of rice which you can upgrade to fried rice if you prefer, but I usually use the sauce of my chicken to mix in with my rice. If you're a sesame chicken lover you have to try Beijing Bistro!

Was looking for a place to eat late at night, and while every other restaurant closed at 9, Beijing Bistro closed at 9:30pm. It did look a little expensive, but the staff was very friendly, so we stayed. They didn't rush us or anything either which was nice, but I still felt bad for coming in so late. My friend and I split the almond chicken, lettuce wraps, and lo mein. The lettuce wraps were pretty good, but I can't say the same for the rest. The noodles and chicken gave me a small stomach ache later that night. I was warned the almond chicken came with a lot of celery, and it did. The entree came with a small bowl of white rice, which was a bit dryer than I was used to. All in all, I would probably not come back for a regular everyday dinner, but save it for special occasions. I also would try the other dishes if I were to return.

Great tasting Chicken Fried Rice. Probably the best, coming from a guy from San Francisco Bay Area. General Tso's chicken was also sumptuous, with a nice kick to your tastebuds. I hope you'll still be around when I come back soon.

We just moved to Wichita 2 years ago. Have searched for an edible chinese restaurant since we got here. Beijing did it for us! The service is good, waitress friendly. A little pricey for a chinese restaurant in a strip mall, but the food is good! The lemon chicken was EXACTLY as i like it. The sauce is light and perfectly flavored....tart lemon! I've only had lemon chicken this good at 2 other restaurants - one in Scottdale, AZ, the other in Sedona, AZ. Unfortunately, both those places closed, so I've been hungering for this dish a long time! The fried rice is edible, but not better than average. No inspiration here and if you add it to your meal, it increases the price. I asked to taste their sauce for Mu Shu pork and it was VERY tasty. The sauces are not the bottled kind, they make their own. I have liked all their sauces so far. The crab rangoon appetizers were very good. Beef and Broccoli, General Tsao and Happy Family dishes were great! We've been there a couple times now and will definitely go back. We've not had many culinary highs in Wichita. This was one of them!

This place is an epic Chinese win. The selection of regular menu items is amazing, the service is friendly and efficient and the restaurant is clean (always a plus, right?). But what makes this place truly awesome are the lunch specials. For, like, six bucks, you can get a chicken dish (kung pao is my favorite, but they also have chow mein, sweet and sour, and much, much more!), a cup of soup (egg drop or hot and sour ... go with the H&S, you won't be sorry), fried rice, a crab rangoon AND a egg roll. There's so much food for the price that you can even have leftovers! And by leftovers I mean, two hours later, you will go back and eat it ... it's just THAT good. But if you have the will power, you can always take it as your lunch the next day! If you're extra hungry, the appetizers are wonderful. The chicken wings are very tasty, and so are the dumplings! The special runs until 2:30 and it's even good on weekends!

I love this restaurant - such a relaxing atmosphere. And I love the food. MOO SHU STYLE Beef, BEIJING LETTUCE WRAPS, EGG FOO YOUNG, CHINESE STEAM-COOKED FOODS SEAFOOD COMBINATION, & TRIPLE DELIGHT SOUP are my favorites. And we always order their Oolong & Jasmine hot tea. One of my favorite chinese restaurants.

I went to Beijing Bistro soon after they first opened. At that time I was not impressed. My soup was cold when it came out. That alone made me not care for it.. how do you serve cold soup? I think the food was pretty good though, don;t remember what I had. Last week though, oneof the Dr's took me and another person there for lunch. I ordered from the lunch menu which consisted of your entree, which they had quite a large selection of beef, chicken, pork and shrimp items, choice of egg drop or hot & sour soup, a crab rangoon, spring roll and fried or steamed rice. I chose the hot & sour soup. It wasn't seasoned/spicy enough for me but it was good.. and it was hot! Yay! For my entree I had Kung Pao Chicken. I thought the meal was delicious. I didn;t care for the spring roll.. just had a funny taste to me, not awful but I didn;t care for it. I cleaned my plate so it couldn;t have been that bad! The price was right. lunch combos from $5.99 - $7.99 (shrimp items were $7.99) Definitely will go back there again. I'd like to go for dinner. They had about 3 different fish entrees listed that sounded really delicious!

Okay, Now I can say I've tried the EggRolls and Crab Rangoon. I agree the Crab Rangoon was yummy and the EggRolls were fine (I still love "Fried Rice's" EggRolls the best-the one at the Pawnee and Oliver strip mall .75 cents each).

I have been to Bejing Bistro many, many times for lunch, dinner, the all-you-can eat crab special on Tuesday nights. I have ordered take-out and I have eaten in. I find the staff always very friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone in the mood for high-quality Chinese food.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
