It was my first time trying their hot food. The beef stroganoff was excellent. It was rich with a lot of flavor. It really hit the spot, and fulfilled my need for something different for lunch. I could eat it all day. The shrimp gumbo was another story. It underwhelmed me. I was expecting a spicy seafood broth, not the noticeably gelatinous, bland goop I received instead. The baklava and cake logs were excellent as usual.

This place is amazing!! Local, homemade, delicious foods! Soups, quiche, pizza, salads and homemade bread that is to good to be true!

Finally made it to Bagatelle. Had the Italian sausage empanada, broccoli cheese soup, fresh bread, and a slice of carrot cake. Oh my goodness, so GOOD! And the ladies behind the counter were both very friendly and helpful to me and my friends who were first-timers to this place. Wish it was closer to where I live, but I definitely want to go back!

So fresh and the prices are outstanding! The only thing that disappointed me was all the dirty tables that were waiting to be cleaned so we could sit. I will definitely be going back though!

Great and Tasty desserts! However, customer service is terrible. The owner yells at you and stares you down. When its your turn to order and you're not ready she sends you to the back of the line. Also don't bother trying to get a custom cake to your liking. The owner will disregard any customization you want and make it how she feels looks "best".

Mushroom quiche and a salad. Came with a house made roll. Everything was exceptional. Best quiche ever. Period. It's made it to my top 5 list in Wichita

We stopped by for lunch today while our car was serviced by Unruh next door. We had the empanadas, turkey wild rice soup and chocolate hazelnut log. The empanadas was baked to perfection! It has a shiny golden brown buttery and flaky crust with well seasoned and tender filling. The turkey wild rice soup was creamy with big chunk of meat and a well balanced amount of rice and herbs. Our cashier, I think her name is Hau, is very pleasant and inviting. Quite to the contrary of other Yelpers' thoughts about Claire, the owner, and that how mean she is. I think she is just a no nonsense lady with a rather rugged manner. She absolutely stands behind her products as she is very proud of them. One time I bought a package of pita bread on Wednesday and it was rather hard to eat because I brought them frozen. I came back the next day and asked her how to make them softer despite of her advice to leave it out a whole day. It happened to be the freshly baked pita day and Claire would just grab a fresh package and gave it to me and said with a gentle smile, "Here, just try this instead". Maybe she figured I'm not Lebanese so it's better to let me eat fresh pita bread than explaining the entire art behind it. Her bakery is really an art piece! Thank you Bagatelle bakery, your owner, bakers and staffs!

This was my favorite bakery, not anymore!!! Yes, the owner was very rude. She waited on me a few times. Each & every time, I felt like she was yelling at me. Try asking for some of your cake pieces to be in a different box, she'll yell. Lol. But the main reason I don't like this place anymore is the quality of their cakes. My husband got me a birthday cake last year & the inside was still frozen. I was actually there over the weekend & got some strawberry cake logs & some chocolate hazelnut cake logs. They both were very dry, like crackers. The chocolate hazelnut cake had no hazelnuts. I won't be coming back.

This lady is seriously RUDE. I walked in and was checking out the place for the first time snapping a few shots to write a review of how fabulous it was when the owner/manager started yelling at another customer. It was wild like something that you would see on TV not at all what I had expected. While the food looked good my mood about this place was forever determined in that moment. I will never support any business that does not treat an elderly person with dignity and respect.

Amazing breads! Tried the ham on Asiago croissant for breakfast and it was excellent.

Yummy empenadas!! I've seen on yelp that many people have been treated rudely, however, I was not. Maybe the woman they are referring to wasn't here today. At any rate, you can definitely tell everything is homemade. I will return.

Disappointing! I used to like this cafe sooo much, but once the female owner mistreated and degraded me as a customer, I will never ever go back there!

I been a customer for like 2 years there and the food is good but when I go in there from time to time I notice this old grumpy old grandma with white hair is very rude and obnoxious. I mean she really needs to overdose on Midol or other PMS drugs because she will rip your head off. I one time heard her scream her head off at someone there and other times she barks at customers. What a shame. The other employees there are really nice but she has the mentality of a small child to have behavior like that. Who in the f*** does she think she is? Not recommended, rude and probably been in & out of mental hospitals her whole life...

Excellent assortment of fresh breads. The olive and Rosemary is a house favorite. Very reasonably priced to boot!

The food here is delicious, and one of the only places I am comfortable ordering baked goods, with the confidence they will taste homemade. I used to work down the street and would pick up lunch from time to time. Always fresh, we would get our work birthday cakes there as well. All that aside.... We had a nickname for the lady I assume to be the owners wife. We would call her the soup Nazi. One day she flat made a 17 year old girl cry for writeing a cake down wrong. I recomend eating there, but don't apply she is nuts. Might make a good reality show. I keep coming back because it is a local family business with real wholesome ingredients. However that ol soup Nazi shouldnt be in front of house.

Ok. I have eaten at Bagatelle at least 50 times, probably more. I will second the terrible attitude of the wife, I'm assuming, of the owner. He makes my chicken shawarma usually and is very docile and nice. The wife however, every single time is rude to customers and workers to the point of cruelty. Having said this. I still go back, whenever I can because the food and baked goods are superb! Fresh, perfect portions, their cakes and croissants are perfect. In closing, if you are a sensitive type, have someone else order for you when the wife is in, there will b no question as to who she is, the rest of the staff is fantastic!

This has been on my list for so long, and now I've finally made it out here. I ordered various pastries (strawberry Chantilly roll, chocolate croissant, and cinnamon roll), a couple loafs of bread (walnut and sourdough), and a cheese pitzah. (Don't worry, I shared it all with my husband). I am not that impressed with any of the pastries...average at best, even the famous strawberry chantilly. The sourdough was particularly good. It's not a very strong sourdough, which I like. The walnut bread was not too bad either. The pitzah was cheesy and satisfying. I don't think you can really go wrong with cheese and carb. I can't wait to try their other breads. The lady working there told me that they used only natural ingredients and no preservatives. That's a plus. Also, they have a rack of day old pastries that are a great deal. I still think that Great Harvest is better quality since they mill their own flour, but for the value and convenience, I will definitely try this place again.

Great place for breakfast! They have a couple of different "manakeesh," which are delicious! I personally like the zataar with cheese. Their meat pie is also very good! This place is considered very good in my opinion as an Arab, just not as good as back home! They also have many different pastries and breads! Let me know if you try it and like it!

Didn't realize extra fruit is extra charge, why they tell me after I chose? But nice to change it before order completion! Yay Best Strawberry Chantilly Cake in Wichita. Fluffy white frosting (light tasting) with white cake and fresh strawberry filling with more cream and bottom layer cake. Reminds me of what I used to have back in San Jose and exactly what I was looking for.

I was once a regular daily customer of this bakery when they were located in 13th street North (nearby WSU). This is one of the places customers will taste the same good food even after many years (like decades). Also their service quality has not been changed. I meant their service still needs to improve. Their breakfast and lunch are excellent. I used to order their strawberry cake (small and round shape) for special occasions. Even after 15 years and lived in five different states, I could not find the better cake than theirs. * Service: Below Average * Price: Slightly higher than other local bakeries or franchise bakeries in Wichita but this establishment's food quality is better. That might be why. * Atmosphere: Okay look and slightly outdated * Food Quality: Excellent (tried only breakfast and lunch) * Parking: Private parking with no charge * Recommendation: Their fruit cakes and croissants are well-known items from the menu (somewhat richer side though)

I love the cakes and fruit tarts. I've always been a fan of the mocha cake. Last week was the first time I went for lunch. Their daily specials are tasty and the price is just right. I had the swedish meatballs and rice with a side of fatoush salad. It's a great place for a quick lunch.

Great bakery and cafe. I'm an out-of-towner who has been twice, once with locals and once without. No problems. Just good food. The service is rushed and pushy at the counter and that's the only thing I don't like. I haven't tried anything I didn't like. The croissants are delicious, as are the tiramisu bars and hazelnut cake rolls and eclairs. Breakfast was delicious too. Will definitely go again when I return to the Wichita area.

It's got to be tough for Bagatelle, watching as the once-great Latour empire slowly crumbles. What was once a seven-restaurant collective spanning a wide variety of food across the city has quickly shrunk, with the west side Piccadilly's closing several years ago, the eviction of Chelsea's and Olive Tree Bistro, and the closing of Piccadilly Express - the latter three all within the span of a year - only Bagatelle and the east Piccadilly remains. Judging from the crowds at Bagatelle, however, I don't think the restaurant has anything to worry about. That stretch of Harry isn't in the best neighborhood (though the excellent Mana Wok is right down the street), but it doesn't stop Bagatelle from being a mighty fine bakery and subsequently great cafe, too. The best sandwich shops tend to be bakeries, because incorporating the fresh bread makes a world of difference to the final product. Surprisingly, there were only three generic sandwiches on the menu, the rest being a small collection of deli counter items such as pasta salads and tabouli, as well as specials like empanadas, which sounded too good to pass up. A couple of rotating varieties of empanadas are offered, and I was interested in the ratatouille stuffing. It wasn't so much an empanada as it was a pie, and it wasn't so much a ratatouille as it was just a collection of vegetables - layers of puff pastry wrapped around a filling of mushrooms, tomatoes, and zucchini - but despite its inauthenticity, it still tasted great, the crust tender and flaky, and the vegetables fresh and savory, for me not to mind all that much. I also had a very nice chicken curry soup, and I didn't mind the free self-service rolls, though I wish they were a little warmer. The day-old $.99 bread is also a great deal, considering that what you get at Dillon's is approximately just as old and several dollars more expensive. Though I haven't lived in the city long enough to have had the opportunity to dine at some of Latour's other restaurants, I think both Bagatelle and Piccadilly share in a similar sort of menu philosophy - offer a very wide variety of foods, make them however you want, and use fresh ingredients. I wouldn't think the former two criterion would keep customers around, but given these are the only two restaurants remaining, I guess you can try to please everyone.

Love the quiche!! It was so light and fluffy with a super buttery crust. I also like how cost effective this place is. 5.51 for the lunch special. I can't wait to go back for some desserts

This was the second visit for my husband and I during lunch. We wanted something delicious and different. Our first visit was good but this time it was just disappointing. I ordered a broccoli and cheese quiche and my husband ordered a chicken shwarma. My meal was ready at checkout but the cashier said that she would bring my husband's meal in a few minutes. We thought it would take no longer than 5 minutes. Well, 15 minutes later my husband sees her bringing a busy table tons of food but not his meal. He only had 30 minutes left of his lunch break and hadn't had a bite. Finally, the lady came out with the shwarma but walked around the tables looking for us, she had completely forgotten who ordered it apparently. I called her and she brought it with no apology or explanation. To make matters worse, the food was bland. We really enjoy new food and environment but bad customer service can ruin it all.

This place is king in the world of baked goods and tasty lunches. Went here on president's day with the family and we held up the line because there were so many great-looking options: italian sausage empanadas, bierocks, tabouli, hummus (!), quiche, soups (clam chowder was featured that day) and so much more. I decided on the stroganoff with a side of tabouli--with a roll I grabbed out of the box by the drink station. Take it easy, I'm no thief--they're for paying customers! I went back for a lemon roll, which is basically a piece of their amazing lemon cake. We also sampled the yogurt cake bar and the strawberry roll. If you like cake, go here. Even if you don't like cake, still go here and try a piece. The baked goods are delicious enough to change the mind of any anti-sweet toothers out there.

Great food, better bakery! Day old bread is really cheap and still better than sliced bread.

Well, many years ago when they were on the north side, near WSU, and maybe better (or maybe I didn't know better), a friend of mine asked them what kind of Coffees they had - they told her both kinds regular and decaf. Well, they have moved to the south side and are still an alternate to the conventional bakery. Quite good and still somewhat esoteric for ict.

I find their lunch specials very tasty and the employees very pleasant. Once they came out to the dining room and started passing out a variety of free bread to the diners. Awesome.
