Try the Jimbo special and make sure you have an amazing maple bacon scone! I stopped here every morning for a year before I moved out of town. The owner (Jimbo) and the other baristas are awesome to chat with. They make a great cup of coffee and an awesome breakfast sandwich! Don't be afraid to ask. Jimbo will cook you up any amazing variation of latte, mocha or just a good old Americana. Can't wait stop back in someday soon for breakfast and an iced white!
This place has the best coffee I have ever had. Local flavor. Everybody is nice and smiles. Try it and you won't be disappointed
Great coffee. Had some when we were passing through. Very nice and knowledgable barista.

Great home cooking!! Had some great times in here back in the day.
The food was good and service was fast. you can park out front and walk around the downtown area. The wizard of oz museum is right across the street.
It's your typical small town diner. The prices are reasonable and you get a lot of food. I wouldn't say the food is the best that I've had, it's just average. There is a limited menu, but the diner serves all your basic food options.

Perfect little greasy spoon in a small town. Every time I have been, I have seen the same regulars, old farmers in their overalls and dusty hats sitting at their table drinking coffee and having ice cream. The rueben sandwhich is very tasty, but I must rave about the Broasters Fried Chicken. It is probably the best fried chicken I have ever tasted. They make it fresh to order, so you may have to wait a few minutes, but I garauntee its worth the wait. The ice cream and shakes are delicious, and its a cozy small town retro feeling place to sit and waste an afternoon.
Typical greasy spoon food. It was actually pretty good. Friendly staff, clean, and good food. Not a five-star restaurant, but not too shabby.
If you love great fried chicken, order the Broasters Chicken with a side of cold slaw. My wife and I order the eight piece with a large side of slaw. Total price is $14.03 and we get two meals out of it. The chicken is to die for, and in my opinion, puts KFC to shame. Yeah the place is bit old style, but we always we our order to go. If you want some good ice cream or shakes for desert, you should get them here too. The service has always be great and courteous.

La Hacienda is a great combination of Mexican resteraunt and all-purpose grocery store. I absolutely love it! Everything is extremely reasonably priced, and the majority of the staff speaks both Spanish and English, and are equally friendly in both. My favorite thing to eat at the resteraunt is the tacos, they give you two for around $1.39. They're fresh, delicious, and extremely traditional. I recommend this resteraunt to everyone and anyone who ask for a recommendation. It's by far the best in town in my book!
Went here when this place FIRST opened along with my huge Mexican family. It was by fat the worst Mexican joint we've ever been to. Perhaps they've improved.
La Hacienda continues to be consistently good Mexican food. Since opening a few months ago, I haven't had a single bad experience yet. And I've been several times.

It's okay. But it's really expensive. $5 for ONE regular taco? That is just crazy. Not close to real Mexican. And that's fine. The taste is still good. Just not $5/taco good.
Surprisingly delicious tacos for this small town. I only got one taco and it was huge! Plenty of food for lunch. My friend had nachos and she said they were good. If I'm in the area again I will make sure I'm hungry just to have it again!
Husband really liked Toto taco-with ground beef. I liked it as a 3.5 The place was cute and fun place to eat. Great service.

Only boxed wine when they have it. Help dirty and food could be so much better!!! Once again, creepy employees!
For rural Kansas this place was a pleasant surprise! That's why I'm giving it four stars. Truly exceptional for small town rural America. The atmosphere is basic, but the food was really the star. My mom had the beef brisket sandwich and said it was tender and delicious. I had a grilled cheese (as I am a vegetarian) and the bread and cheese were high quality--swiss and cheddar, not just American. The potato salad was AMAZING! Tasted like it was perhaps made with a touch of sour cream? I don't know, but I loved it. Mom had the cole slaw which was a vinegar base, it was good too, but not exactly to her taste. Basically if you are going to be passing through Wamego or nearby, take a detour to Barelycorn's. You won't regret it!
We stopped in Wamego on the way to the Manhattan airport. Our main reason for stopping was to visit the Oz Winery. We parked in front of Barleycorn's on main street, which is directly across from the winery. We ate during lunch, and found the area well lit and clean. There are several HDTVs with the Kansas City Cheifs game. They had a good selection of draft beers. We had the reuben with salt and vinegar chips, which was the sandwhich of the day. (No fries since they don't have a fryer.) Sandwich was excellent and I enjoyed the Michelob Amber ale. There was only the bartender taking orders and serving food, but there wasn't a big crowd and she was able to come in a timely manner. I would definitely come again to watch a game and relax if I'm ever in Wamego again!
