Trying to get into the place next door but there was a 45min wait. Jumped next door to this little burrito joint and figured I couldn't go wrong. The ordering process is typical and easy with the options you'd expect. I've never been to Salina KS before and wasn't sure what to expect. A small pygmy woman wearing a fanny pack carrying numerous dollar store bags got into line behind us. Saying she's small is redundant and she actually wasn't a pygmy. She stood less than 5 feet fall but had a mouth on her that could be heard by even the most passive customer. She asked the tortilla girl if they had hamburger meat. That would be a resounding no. She gets to the meat guy and demands ground hamburger be put on her burrito. Again she's turned down. She was offered bacon queso cheese which I would've bet my life savings she would've been happy to take but no! She sneered at the man for even mentioning it. My jaw hit the floor because I could not peg this lady. Her check out process took double the average time than a normal customer (whatever that is in Salina) because she keeps dropping her change while trying to retrieve it from her fanny pack. I could have offered to help but I was too hungry to bother. You see I was back on my juicing diet where I only intake liquid vegetables and fruit. This makes one ravenous during the first week. I was halfway through my shredded beef burrito before I made it to my table. Wife was picking apart her chicken tacos making them appear eaten. She saw how hungry I was and offered me a taco. Let me stop here and explain something to people that might not know. A major different between starvation and having the munchies after smoking a joint is when you're starved things don't taste any better. Since I don't smoke pot I 'm just hungry but only got a couple bites into this taco before putting it down. Dry tortilla and the chicken bits tasted like cat treats. I now understood why the wife wasn't eating. My Burrito wasn't that bad but either they hadn't changed out the chicken meat that week or I hope you like cat treats.

Absolutely delicious food. Large portions. Everything was fresh, crisp, and delicious! The only reason it won't receive 5 stars is for the unenthusiastic worker. The woman who took our order was rather curt and unhelpful. I think she assumed we had been there before.l and wanted to rush us through. We will return for the food and hopefully catch the staff in a better mood.

Think of this as your local Chipotle, except this Chipotle has QUESO and nachos are on the menu. When I saw the menu I thought this place had a lot of potential. It was good but not great. I was going back and forth between the steak and barbacoa and I was allowed to sample both. When tasting they were both okay but clearly they had been in the warmer for a long time. The place just didn't hit the level of chipotle quality and it shows. They have queso, though, and it's good. Going with that is their chips which have a pretty good seasoning. It was definitely a highlight of the meal and what stood out most. The guacamole was standard but I think the avocados used could have used an extra day or two for ripening. I would definitely go back, mostly for some chips and queso. This place definitely fills in the gap in the absence of a Chipotle even in a city filled with good Mexican food.

First the chips were light and crisp put they were ruined by the season salt they added. The queso was not very good. It just had an off taste to it. I would not recommend the chips and queso. I got a chicken burrito and it might have been ruined by the queso I had them add to the burrito. I also added the fajita veggies - basically some watery onions and a few peppers. Overall I was not impressed and could not finish the burrito. I threw out half the burrito something I almost never do. I am in Salina on business and love to experience the local places. I am not planning on making a second stop to see if it was all the queso's fault. Very disappointing. The service was quick, the ordering easy and the staff friendly.

I love this place. We may not have a chipotle but this is better as its independent. Same style as a chipotle's but no wait n always great service!

I strongly disagree with most everyone else's review of Santa Cruz... My family eats here at least once a week and we have literally NEVER had a bad experience! By far this is our favorite place to eat in Salina, were still new here but in 7mos,this place is still our #1 go to spot. Imagine Chipolte only better...and authentic! We absolutely love the homemade chips which are perfectly seasoned. I do wish the queso was a little thicker but the flavor is on point. And also I wish they'd put cilantro in the brown rice because it's only in the white and everybody knows, "white ain't right!" My usual here in the Vegetarian Salad with cilantro rice, both pinto and bleak beans, corn salsa, extra mild salsa, romaine lettuce, and guacamole (AMAZE BALLS GUACAMOLE)!!! The staff is mostly local teenage boys which my teenage daughters and their friends thoroughly enjoy so I never have to eat alone here. My beau just left for Korea and this was his favorite spot as well...he'd get the GINORMOUS Vegetarian Burrito and his own chips because he doesn't share very well,lol...or maybe it's me. He'd tell you Santa Cruz is pretty epic! P.s. We all love the atmosphere and shout out to Cali.

Just okay. Not great. We were staying at a hotel near by and Santa Cruz burrito was shown as a restaurant that delivers. Not wanting to put a fussy baby back in the car after a 7 hour drive we decided delivery would be a good option. When I called and said I wanted to place an order for delivery the teenage kid who answered the phone said "delivery??" And seemed both offended and confused. After I said yes he said "okay, but there's a $10 delivery charge" this wasn't mentioned anywhere in their advertising. $10 to drive 5 minutes away is ridiculous so my husband just went on to get it. The food wasn't great. Steak had been sitting out for awhile and was over cooked as was the rice. The guacamole had a bad taste to it as well. I seemed like they had made it fresh a day before and it sat out going bad. Portion sizes are huge though and the chips and queso were nothing to complain about. They also won't bring me back though.

This place was not worth the walk the free water or my money. The food was bland and nothing special. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
