I will never return to this place. I was with my kids and we ordered biscuits and gravy and eggs. The waitress kept telling us our food would be out soon. The table behind us received their food, ate, paid and left before the waitress came back and said our food was next. We had been there 50 minutes, when the kid at the table next to us started gargling her eggs and gagging on her plate (her parents were cool with it), we took it as a sign and bailed. I faintly heard the waitress call after us, "Your food is up next...."

Good service except for that super loud waitress. Good food, great prices. We go to Moms almost every Sunday and never had bad service or bad food

eh, not sure what's going on but just had a very bad meal. I am sad to do this, but in the interest of reporting truth, think I must. We rolled in at 11 on Sunday, not busy, wow. There's a reason I guess. The waitress who has waited on me before was very surly, I gave that a pass. The food, not good. Veggie omelets way overcooked and tough, not tasty, hash browns greasy, home fries cold. Coffee was incredibly weak. Toast drowned in margarine to the point it was very unappetizing. I was bummed, this was a favorite place though I hadn't been here for a few months. I felt bad because I dragged my friend here with me.

Came in for breakfast with my sig. other. I ordered the eggs benedict and he ordered just an omelet. Our order took 45 minutes to come out. People that had been seated after us were getting their food before us. Our waitress ignored us completely. No update on why our food was taking forever or anything to even check on us to see if we needed water or anything. Finally we flagged our waitress down and asked where our food was. Her explanation was that the eggs benedict hollandaise sauce takes awhile to prepare. This would have been a nice thing to mention upon me choosing this item, as I would have changed my mind if we were going to wait close to an hour for someone to make hollandaise sauce (which doesn't take an hour unless you have no idea what you're doing). Anyways, finally we get our food. My eggs are cold, his omelet is cold. The hollandaise sauce that apparently takes forever to make tasted like salty egg yolks. It was disgusting and I was so disappointed, not only in our service but the terrible food. It's such a run-down diner I thought it was basically like a dive diner that would make up for it's gross condition with good food. Wow, I was really mistaken. It's just all-around bad. I will never return here. The service is slow and the food was terrible. I feel bad that Olathe doesn't have better quality breakfast restaurants.

This diner reminds me of the breakfast spot in my small hometown. Large portions, great menu options, and just great diner food. Highly recommend.

We were on a time crunch and almost every other breakfast restaurant in Olathe was on a 30+ minute wait. IDK how/why I remembered Mom's Kitchen, but I'm so glad I did! This place was a great greasy spoon (and I mean that with love and affection). You can get all your traditional breakfast items at Mom's. I had eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast - all perfectly cooked. The restaurant isn't new and shiny, its not a chain with fancy decor, but it is well-kept. Our server was great - she was attentive and she got the food out quick. Will I go back? Absolutely!

Mom's Kitchen is just what you would expect from your mom's kitchen. Great breakfast every time that we go! It's great!

This place is good, it's been around so long that it's just normal to eat here, I love getting what they call the shoe, biscuits and gravy with eggs and bacon yummy! The waitress are very kind, and put up with my father in law haha! Coffee is good there too, I think I know what I want for breakfast!

Wonderful breakfast & they can get your hashbrowns crispy. They have several home made pies & they are so good you will want a piece of pie to go home or for dessert. Serves breakfast till 2 & wait staff is very friendly. Small joint but great food.

OK, I've been holding out. I've been visiting Mom's for probably three or four years now, but it's kind of slipped my mind when it comes to review time. Oops! To give you an idea of how much I enjoy Mom's Kitchen - first of all, how can you NOT like a place with 'mom' as part of the name! - I live near downtown Kansas City, MO, and Mom's is located on Santa Fe Drive in Olathe. In my humble opinion, it's worth the drive! Mom's is nothing fancy. It's comfortable, clean and has darned good food. Great pancakes, great omelettes, ENORMOUS chicken fried steak, and sausage gravy that will make you slap your mamma. I've seen where some Yelpers have had questionable service, but I can say I've not had that experience. And again, I'm driving a ways just to eat! If you're heading to Mom's for breakfast on the weekend, I'd recommend getting their early - say, before 9am. If not, it's possible you may have a little wait. Every time I've been, there has always been a lot of people there, which is another indication of good food lurking! Yeah, mom's is nothing special, but it does have special food!

Great place to eat breakfast. Love the atmosphere. Feels like an old school diner. Something I miss greatly. Everyone is friendly. Price is awesome. Pancakes were good...an added touch would help (powered sugar). Biscuits and gravy were like grandpa use to make!! Can't wait to try the fried chicken.

When I was a kid, our family would come here every Sunday morning after church for breakfast. What dear fond memories I have of Mom's kitchen. Sadly, those memories will have to stay memories. I will not be returning. I used the restroom before ordering and walked in, turned on the light, and watched two roaches scatter beneath the floor boards. After washing my hands, I proceeded to turn off the light and noticed the switch was completely black from grime and dirt. Upon sitting down in the booth, I noticed several dead flies lining the window sills and the salt and pepper shakers are covered in years worth of filth. The ceiling vents are coated with black dust. I absolutely cannot believe this restaurant is still in operation. Clearly they do not care about cleanliness. I wonder what the kitchen looks like? The service is great and the food is pretty good. The jalapeño bacon is delicious and something different than your normal breakfast fare. I can't get over the total lack of care regarding the cleanliness of this restaurant. People can get very sick but I won't take that chance as I will never return. I'll have to rely on my childhood memories when thinking of Mom's kitchen.

We went here because it had a 4 star with Yelp. Boy were we greatly disappointed. First off, it was dirty, Fly's in the window seal, spider webs in between the booths, dried milk on the wall in the booth area...... Our omelets were over cooked and who uses cheep american cheese slices on a omelet anyway? The kids menu was overpriced and to much food for being a kids menu, yes it was a lot of food but, a four year old can't eat a full size pancake, three eggs and two pieces of tough bacon. Hint, make it a real kids menue! The coffee was terrible and the hot water for tea was only warm. Service was good. Although there was only one other table of customers in the joint at 7am. That should have been our first clue!

Went here on a Sunday morning. It was super crowded and I had a little bit of a wait for a table. I also had quite a wait for my food. But the food was really good. I had the chicken-fried steak and eggs. The steak was ginormous and smothered in tasty gravy. It was fork tender and just melted in your mouth. I also got the fried potatoes which were a surprise. They were crispy little chips that you could eat with your fingers. Also had wheat toast to go with it all and was happy to see high quality bread, most diners treat the toast as an after-thought. Good place to go if you ever find yourself in downtown Olathe.

Use to go a lot until the Downtown Diner opened- went back yesterday - food was ok - service was horrible- she took our food and drink order- brought them both and never came back once!! Didn't even look in our direction to flag her down!! Would have liked a drink refill but not an option here. Back to the Downtown Diner for us

We decided to stop in here for some breakfast. My husband went to the restroom before we left and saw a roach on the floor and a dead one beside it. He told the woman at the cash register and her comment was "oh, I know! We had Orkin out a couple of days ago so they are all probably running". So, needless to say, I handed back my leftover box and we both felt a little sick to our stomachs. We will never eat here again.

I was in the mood for Eggs Benedict so decided to try this little diner out. I am generally a fan of little diners over the higher end places when it comes to breakfast. Sadly, they only have Eggs Benedict on Saturdays and Sundays. After hearing some discussion about the pancakes from a neighboring table it appeared this would be the next option for me and I settled on the pancake, eggs, and bacon breakfast. When the waitress took my order she asked me what kind of toast I wanted with the breakfast. I was a little puzzled being the menu explicitly said it did not come with toast and I stated that to her to make sure there was not any confusion. She assured me that it did come with toast and I trusted that she was the expert. My breakfast came out pretty quick, but there was not a pancake. When I pointed this out, the waitress insisted that I did not order one. Not only did I say what I wanted, but I pointed to it on the menu. After she denied what I ordered again, I asked for a menu to ensure I did not point to the wrong thing. Sure enough, what I pointed to was the pancake, egg, and bacon breakfast. She continued to disagree that I ordered that even saying it does not include toast at which point I let her know that was why I mentioned it didn't come with toast and she insisted it did when I ordered. At that point she offered to add a pancake, but I was so aggravated that she chose to argue about what I ordered instead of fixing the issue (even if I was wrong, that should have been the coarse of action) I told her the breakfast I had was fine. She came back later to check on me and again offered to add a pancake, this time including the offer of not charging me for the toast. Really? The food was fantastic. The hash browns were nice and crispy, not greasy at all. The eggs were perfectly cooked over easy as requested. The bacon wasn't two little pieces that looked like they came from a starving cow, but a pile of thicker bacon with great flavor. This is a solid breakfast spot!!! The waitress that rung me up was super friendly. After she rung me up I expressed my dissatisfaction with the service. She offered to let me talk to the manager and I declined letting her know that I trusted she would pass on my thoughts. The breakfast is totally 5 stars. The waitress wasn't even worth 1 star. The other waitress that cashed me out gave me hope that the service was not typically like what I received so I will keep going back as this may now be my favorite breakfast place (we will see how the Benedict rates.) Prices are good. My meal was about $7 which looked liked about the typical price range for breakfast. Decor is an old style diner. The place is clean, but it is an older establishment and the decor screams that.

Overview: Sorry, this place was a disappointment. We tried Mom's Kitchen for breakfast after our soccer game, we have 5 kids and 4 adults. The service was slow, the food was mediocre, and the cost was expensive for what we got. Details: The place is very casual and down home. We got seated quickly and the waitress took our drink orders. At this point the waitress must have gotten busy or distracted because while she was buzzing around our table, she was not at our table for a while. This was okay since it left us time to review the menu. The menu was not huge, but it had the staples we wanted for breakfast. Including the country choices, like steak and eggs. The kids menu was tiny, two choices only - pancake or 1 egg with bacon/sausage. After a good wait, we ordered our food. I got the Eggs Benedict with fried potatoes, because the waitress told me this was the only place I could get them in the city (not sure what city she was referring). Our boys got waffles. One of my boys even got the jalapeno bacon, an interesting item that I wanted to try too. After we ordered we waited. And waited. There were two tables on either side of us that sat after us and got their food before us. I think the size of our party disrupted the waitress somehow. She did buzz by a few times letting us know she was coming right back. She never did. After a long wait we got our food. The Eggs Benedict was two poached eggs on a split English muffin sitting on top of a huge slab of think cut ham. All covered with hollandaise sauce. I personally did not like it. The sauce tasted like a mix, the eggs were small, and the ham just overpowered the dish. It was too much. Eggs Benedict is not a country egg and steak breakfast, but they made it one. By the way, the fried potatoes we essentially homemade potatoes chips. They were good, but not unique. The boys seemed to like their waffles and the jalapeno bacon was good and spicy. I am not sure I would eat 4 pieces, especially since this little side dish was $4.50. In the end the food was OK, but we paid $70+ for a family of 5 and the food was country style not some expensive fancy stuff. I would not go back.

This is our staple "go to" restaurant for breakfast. I always get chicken fried steak, over medium eggs, and fried potatoes. Service is awesome, food is great, and we love the atmosphere. Their gravy is probably the best I've had, good coffee, and the service is wonderful.

Last time I heard some give a special order on their food. So this time I decided to ask my hashies browned. Oh they came out perfect. I assumed they figured I liked all my food cooked and got my scrambled eggs just right also. I also got a french toast on the side. I literally thought I was skipping in heaven for a moment. We got a different set of waitress this time and ours was very attentive. From walking in to leaving, everyone has smiles.

I went here last Saturday and had the BEST eggs benedict that I have ever had. Plenty of hollandaise sauce (enough to smother your hash browns with) along with two eggs sitting on top of a whole piece of ham..delicious! The down to earth atmosphere this restaurant has to offers allows you to feel completely guilt free about rolling out of bed, putting on a hat and going to breakfast...just my kind of pace for a Saturday morning, after a long week at work!

From the run down appearance I was expecting good and cheap but it was gross and expensive. We could not eat our hash browns because they had a buttery instant potato flavor. The prices are totally outlandish and a lot of things don't include sides and the menu reminds you that some things even come with "NO TOAST."

Their parking lot is always packed and I found out why last weekend...... Their food is classic, homestyle, and just plain good stuff. We went for brunch on a Sunday and I had over-easy eggs, hash browns, and bacon. The hasbrowns are the best-cooked I have had in forever. The bacon was super-crisp. My husband had the buiscuits and gravy which was terrific as well. They even made my kids a Mickey Mouse pancake. Our service was really great as well, especially for the amount of people in here.

Love this place. My girlfriend and I always look for amazing diners. This is an amazing diner. They certainly don't skimp on the portions. Only one time did I have a sub-par order delivered. They quickly made it right! I don't know her name, but the server we always have always has a long pony tail. She's fantastic! My girlfriend last time ordered the chicken fried chicken. It was outstanding. I also recommend any breakfast or the open faced beef sandwich. I crave it often! You will love this place!

Interesting Breakfast place run by a family (non franchised)!. Food quality was good and service was excellent. No wait lines, quick service, no hurry by hosts to get you to finish breakfast (and make room for next one) and most importantly a small hometown feeling. Always love to find hidden local gems. This family owned restaurant is worth visiting though it's little off route. Lots of regular walk in customers ordering food without even looking at menu and hosts knowing their names seems like a good sign. I'll be visiting the place again when in the neighborhood. They have lunch menu too with items other than breakfast.
