First time trying this place out today, I'm not quite sure of how I feel about it because the sushi was just OK... I ordered the Las Vegas roll, haru roll and spider roll and miso soup. The Vegas roll was a lot more different than what I'm used too, they creatively added mango inside the Vegas roll. It wasn't all that great but I'll give it another try before I could say it's bad! Service is friendly!

Very friendly staff and the steakhouse side is very fun. Nothing out of the ordinary but everything cooked perfectly.

We went for my moms birthday. The sushi was wonderful (I am a bit of a sushi snob- if you are too this is a place you should try!) and so was the hibachi meal. The staff was a little slow and the prices were a little high for the dinning experience provided but I would defiantly go back for the food.

This is my favorite sushi spot, specifically the great value at lunch. 2 rolls & salad or soup for less than $9. Always attentive & friendly service with consistent sushi. The spicy crab salad is a must have, it's delicious!

I think this is the best Japanese steakhouse in KC. I've been going here for 10 years and never had a complaint!!! The food is delicious!! And their sauces are to die for! Yummmmm my stomach is growling just thinking of how good this place is!!!

Nice affordable place to have lunch. The quality of the food, and the quantity, both should leave you satisfied. Highly recommended.

I can't deny that the food is good and the Sushi is great with nice staff too but I have been going there once or twice a week with a friend of mine and spending $ 50-60 till I got disappointed when they charged me on some extra steamed rice I asked for. I was like is this how you appreciate your loyal customers? Steamed rice costs you guys absolutely nothing. It's frustrated to be treated like that. I was not happy when they did that to me. I have been to many many indian , Chinese and Japanese restaurants and they never charged me extra for some rice.

I still enjoy coming here for lunch and occasionally dinner. I agree with others that it's not been top quality sushi lately. However, it's certainly still pretty good in my opinion. They have a great lunch special that's reasonably priced, plus you can get in and out under an hour without feeling rushed. Each time I've been the service has been friendly and attentive. I'm learning mandarin and I enjoy practicing the little that I know with some of the servers. If you're up for adventure, sit up at the bar and ask they sushi chef to make you his best $10 (or $7-9 whatever you want to pay). He'll use the freshest ingredients he has to concoct something unique and delicious. If you aren't in the mood for sushi, try their lettuce wraps. They are very tasty and on the spicy side. I like to order sushi and my friend gets the warps then we share our meals. It's a good way to get variety. This is a solid 3 star place that I still recommend. Try it out when you're in the area.

Food was beyond terrible, got the 30.00 lobster dinner it tasted like something out of a creek. The iced tea was musty like it had not been made fresh for a while. Our show consisted of a burst of flame when our cook came out and him making an onion smoke. That was it. They were not friendly at all till it was time for the bill to be paid and a tip to be made. Never go here, worst food and service I've ever had. Omg. FYI I've never complained about a restaurant, this was so bad I had to warn everyone. .

My wife and I are from Florida so you can imagine how much we desired to find a great sushi place. Harus is by far the best within an hour drive....I don't write reviews but since I did that means this place is awesome. a+ fish quality and roll presentation. Tuna and salmon rolls are the best

EXTREMELY disappointed First off, we asked to be seated in steakhouse and despite there being open seats at two of the tables we were told we wouldn't be able to sit there without a reservation. Even though there remained open seats the entire time we were there. The soup was all broth except what looked like a big piece of chicken fat in my husband's. When I got my salmon I was in shock, it had a huge thick black streak/vein looking thing running down the middle. I always order salmon and I've never seen anything like this, it looked disgusting. I asked the waitress and she said it was the salmon skin which doesn't make any sense because it was in the middle. I thought maybe I could just eat around the gray but one bite was more than enough, it was extremely dry. My husband's chicken was also super dry and chewy. We are thinking they just make a big batch of this and then reheat? The shrimp was also AWFUL/ inedible. Super cold. Literally the only thing I ate was the rice WHICH was suppose to be included with our meals but they charged us each an extra $ 2.25 ( for rice? Are you kidding me? ) The waitress didn't seem to care that my salmon was disgusting / I couldn't eat anything but rice) It's really disheartening to pay $50 for a meal thats so bad you can't eat 90% of it. Possibly my worst restaurant experience :(

Haru is a gem hidden in Olathe. There are some better quality sushi places within Kansas City limits, but if you're way out south in Olathe this is as good as it will get. They have a fantastic lunch special (good until 230pm) that I take advantage of frequently. For $9 you get either miso soup or a salad as well as two rolls. If you're looking for a healthy alternative to Chipotle or just want some fish, this is a great option. Dinner is excellent too. It is a japenese steak house, so not only do they have sushi but they do the full scale cook in front of you light your food on fire type display at night. It is a fairly affordable place and great for groups or a date. I will be back!

The spicy crab salad is a must try!!! It's so delicious! The sushi was pretty good. The restaurant was a little small, but very clean and nice atmosphere. The staff was friendly. The sushi was about average price. I would definitely come back.
