High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. When we receive excellent service at a restaurant, we usually ask to speak to a manager to commend our server in person. However, because the restaurant was closing as we left, we did not want to take the staff's attention away from closing--so hopefully the management sees this review! We received exceptionally kind and attentive service from our server, Eli, and it was clear that he has a passion for customer service and helping people. As usual, our food was wonderful as well. Thank you, Eli, for providing such a great customer service experience!

The only good thing about this place is the half-price appetizers after 9pm. The food is not great and the menu is boring. I take particular issue with the shrimp cavatappi because the portion is like half the size of other entrees, I guess since it is on the "pub diet" menu. The shrimp are very small. The chicken fingers are probably the best thing on the menu. The to-go service is very bad and I would strongly discourage ordering online as special instructions or substitutions are entirely disregarded. Food is manhandled.

I am only giving this place two stars instead of one because the food you actually receive is halfway decent. I used to be a frequent here but this place has gone downhill way fast. Apparently Applebee's has gone under new management here and it's awful. When the offered half priced appetizers after 9 pm I could deal with the crappy service, but since they have done away with the half price appetizers and replaced them with 3 for $11, 4 for $13, 5 for $15. But the thing is you get half the food too. When we asked our waitress about the portion sizes she answered with a question. She didn't refill our drinks once. The only way could get a refill was letting my ice cubes melt. The food runner guy was really nice and cleared our table for us. Our waitress never came back to our table to even get us our check. My fiancé left exact change on the table and we left. The manager was going around to all the tables and apologizing because she was "busy" and got "caught up". If you don't have enough staff I think as a manager you should hire enough people to work the tables. This was an overall AWFUL experience, and I hate to say that because their wings and spinach dip are things that I crave frequently. Unfortunately I will not be back to Applebee's.

The carryout always seems like its been sitting out forever, even if I'm there on time. The service is pretty good both at carryout and in the restaurant.

My server and bartender (Ashley) is always bubbly and great company while giving top notch service. She is polite, courteous and a great asset to Applebee's. The food is amazing at this location in Olathe. Restaurant is very clean and a great atmosphere tone at and have a great.

Recent change in management. The perfect place to go if you prefer cold food, warm drinks (if you actually receive them), and being charged for menu items never delivered to you.

Meh, it's alright. Let's be honest with ourselves, Applebee's celebrates its mediocrity like the little league that gives trophies to the team who failed to win a single game. They don't generally have great drink specials, their service is usually average, they have food thats "pretty good" but rarely terrible or great. I think the best thing about the 'Bee is that you know what you're going to get, so expectations are usually met. After 9pm they offer "half price appetizers", but that doesn't apply to all apps so make sure you clarify that what you order is half price. My brother and I ate there recently and were clearly ordering apps - nachos, buffalo wings, and a sampler platter. The waitress didn't bother to mention we would be charged full price for the sampler. Kind of frustrating, but I guess the waitresses at the 'Bee are just as average as the establishment!

I don't know why the reviews are so low! This is a great location with cool new refreshed branding. Doesn't look like the old school dining experience. Lots of families in here. It's cool that you can order from your table on some digital device. Also, they really get me on their Dollar Brownie Bite deal. I get it EVERY TIME! I hadn't been to an Applebee's in YEARS. I was pleasantly surprised! I guess, compared to the very old Applebee's that I'm used to in Falls Church, VA, it was an amazingly different experience.

Too corporate.. No hometown feel. Rush in rush out. Employees seem scared of their own shadows. Menu is dated. Try some upscale meats. Even the local pubs have better cuts of beef than sirloin.

The hub and I dined here last night and had a great experience! I was worried after reading reviews, but we had a gift card and decided to give them a shot. Glad we did,; great service to start with, a perfect margarita, hot and freshly prepared appetizer, and we really enjoyed our pasta. You could tell that they were trying to overcome the bad reviews and we will be back!

For awhile applebees did go down hill, but recently they've been improving. There 2 for 7 sangrias are always good! And there lunch specials are the perfect amount and price. Haven't had a bad waiter either. If you haven't been here recently you must try again you won't be dissapointed.

I rarely will eat at the chain restaurants because I hate that they are taking over the local eateries that serve much better food. Here in suburb land, there are not many choices other than chains though. After a long day enjoying the sun and warm weather yesterday, I decided a quite pick up from Applebees was good for dinner. Normally if I eat there I get a burger and I am typically satisfied. Tonight we tried the 2 for $20 option with boneless wings, sirloin, and three cheese chicken penne. The wings were ordered the boneless wings with extra hot sauce. The sauce was not hot at all and the wings were a little dry. The penne was very dry. It is supposed to have Alfredo sauce on it and three cheeses. There was barely any of either on the dish. The little bit of bruschetta didn't add much flavor to the dry dish. The chicken was horrible. It was terribly overcooked, burnt, charcoal to be exact. The dish did not call for a "blackened" chicken, not that I would have considered that a good excuse for burnt chicken, but it would have made a little sense. The steak was ok. It was cooked as ordered. The "seasonal" vegetables, which I don't think change all year, were well cooked, and the baked potato was good. This particular experience I would rate a 2, but overall, if I am just getting a burger and a drink, I have had good experiences. Not the best burger, but not bad. Service is hit or miss. Last night the lady bringing the meals to the car was very friendly. I have had times that you have to work to get your servers attention.

Thought we'd go for a decent meal at a decent price, HA! Forget the fact that we're in an area where you can get GOOOOOD BBQ. This steak was nasty, so nasty, whoever made my steak should be fired. If you can try to imagine a steak that tastes as if its been marinated in Vinegar, overcooked, and has the texture of chicken!!! Then when we did say something the manager seemed confused and didn't know what to do! Just sad!

This was this location's last chance for me. Cold food the Applebee's to go way garnered a refund in the way of a gift card. Redeemed the gift card for more cold food, weak drinks, missing items, and marginal service from both server and management. I feel I will travel for my next Crapplebees experience.

"Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me." These words could not speak more truth with this specific Applebee's. I said I'd never return, but alas, it is the most convenient location between my house and my friends whom we've formed a 3$ Long Island Ice Tea/Half-Priced Appetizers tradition with. We went back a few times after my last review, all with very slow service, just friendly enough, but very rushed. The time before the one we had tonight, the server charged us for 2 extra Long Islands. When we told our server, he questioned us very condescendingly as if we were lying, and brought over the manager who did the same, only more rude. They went and talked to the bartender, found our they were wrong, and came back like nothing happened with out new check. But tonight really set the sub-par bar, if you will. Our server, John, was friendly at first, but seemed very rushed from what seemed like under-staffing. He seemed really rushed, whatever. But throughout the meal, his service digressed until the all time low, the bartender Jordan, whom we could hear TALKING BAD ABOUT OUR TABLE FROM 10 FEET AWAY, was giving him grief for taking our drink orders, so John after taking our's and our friend's 3rd watered down Long Island order and our other friends 1'st order (they came late), informed us that he had to cut us off due to a "3 drink maximum" because his "manager told him to do so". (I would understand if we were acting unruly, but after hearing Jordan at the bar, this was his request, not the managers.) As I said previously, we have(/had) a tradition to go enjoy half priced apps and drink specials, NEVER have we EVER been told of a 3 drink max. We've had many more than 3 previously (with a Designated Driver, of course!). Not to mention, before order our 3rd drink, our server came over and suggested we didnt, saying "you don't want to make Jordan mad, do you?".... SERIOUSLY?! LIKE, REALLY!? On top of that, our drinks took at VERY least 5-10 minutes to arrive at our table, as we sat feet away after they were made staring at them and debating just grabbing them ourselves, if we didn't think Jordan would just say his rude remarks to our face if we did. I feel that our server, John, acted under peer pressure from Jordan, whom did not hesitate to talk badly about our table literally no more than 12 feet away, loudly, all night. All of us agreed we'd never felt more awkward at a 'customer-service oriented establishment', that we'd never heard an employee talk so loudly and so badly about us, and two of my friends agreed to get Yelp accounts just to post about this horrendous experience. So if any good came from tonight, atleast I spread some Yelp-y lovin' around! (P.S- I will be calling this location tomorrow to ask management about this '3 drink maximum and to inform them of Jordan's terrible service/demeanor.)

Service was slow and added an extra Long Island ice tea to one of our checks . When we alerted the server about the mistake he got the manager . The manager did not believe us and treated us pretty disrespectfully. We stood our ground and he eventually figured out the bars mistake. When he finally realized we weren't lying, he then treated us like customers.

I don't like leaving negative reviews, but this Twilight Zone experience couldn't go without a mention. We arrived at 6 o'clock, seated by 6:05, had orders in by 6:15, 7 o'clock rolls around no appetizers, no food and no explanation from the manager or from the m.i.a. waitress:(. We didn't order anything fancy. We had to be somewhere by 7:30 so we had to go. We get up and that is when a manager decides to say that the kitchen is backed up and he apologizes. We understand and that explanation would have been fabulous around 6:15 or 6:30 not 7 o'clock when we are out the door. :( I've also decided to leave out the huge deal at getting our drinks. Whoa that was something. Be aware before you go there. Twilight Zone experience.

Watched KU play here today. Service here is sometimes good, sometimes bad. Today was average. Same with the food. I came here to avoid big crowds and still be able to watch the game. I forgot that they had those audio things at all the bar tables. If you don't like what's playing on the restaurant speakers, you can turn on your own speaker at your table. You tune in by choosing which TV you want to hear the audio for, then pressing the corresponding number on the audio box. Ours was static-y, so the server allowed us to switch it out with an empty table's nearby. It worked just fine, but didn't end up needing it because they ended up playing KU. I wouldn't come here for a unique dining experience, but it's pretty predictable and sufficed for today.

This restaurant is always chilly, both the service and the temperature. We have watched greeters hold open the door in December to cool the place. The service is always slow. Lunch is slow. Can't get in and out fast. We will not go back. Used to love Applebee's. What happened?
