I had the chicken avocado in sandwich. It was good not great. We came during lunch and it was not very busy. Our food took a little longer than we expected it to based on how busy they were. I would eat here again.

Thought we'd give this place a try after being out shopping in Merriam today. We lived in Mission for 8 years, and I still work close by, so I'd seen this place as it was being renovated from a former gas station/auto repair place. Make no mistake, this is a sports bar. TV's on every wall, and even smaller TV's in the booths to enable you to watch the game of your choice. We gave the menu a once-over, and settled on a pork tenderloin sandwich for me, and the spicy BLT burger for the mrs. The burger was flavorful and juicy, albeit a bit messy with all the accouterments on it. The pork tenderloin, while appearing slightly burnt on the edges of the breading, was juicy and hot. The curly fries I had were just your basic curly potatoes, but the sweet potato fries that Mary had were pretty good - we both thought they could have used a little salt, but once we discovered the dipping sauce that came with them, it made perfect sense. What I had assumed to be a small cup of ranch dressing...was in fact, a sweet, marshmallow-y frosting that complemented the sweet potato perfectly! Pleasantly surprised to see that they offer happy hour specials 7 days a week here, and even do a "reverse" happy hour from 9pm to close. If we still lived in Mission, I could see us becoming regulars here. A decent selection of draft and bottled beers, and a full-service liquor bar. It's nice to see Mission re-vitalizing its downtown area, and The Bar makes a great addition!

While I would really like to LOVE this place, I just can't. I've been pleased with all the food selections I've tried...from salads, burgers, sandwiches to appetizers! They have a good variety of burgers. The service is subpar! Out of my last 7 visits, only once was the service good. You often have to ask over and over again for basics such as water, napkins and utensils.

First let me tell you that I'm super excited to have this type of place in the area! While I cannot speak to much on the menu, I can sat I really enjoyed the pretzels. They are not overly doughy and have just the right amount of salt. I'm not generally a condiment person but after tasting the pepper jack dip, I was a fan for the duration of the pretzel eating. They have tons of specials not to mention a better than average beer selection. They have tons of TVs to watch whatever soap opera...er, I mean sports game, is on. The general feel of the place is open and inviting with space inside boasting hightop tables as well as big booths. They also have outdoor seating. They retained the garage doors, which are open in nice weather. Only downfall to this setup is the smokers that feel the need to light up...making the smell of slowly burning cigs waft into the rest of the bar. Let's hope the management can figure something out to keep everyone mostly happy. I'll definitely be back as I want to check out the wings that others are talking about.

This is a pretty cool spot. It's an automotive garage converted into a restaurant/bar. It feels more like a bar than a restaurant. It even still has a garage feel to it. They kept the roll down doors which open up into the patio area. TVs are everywhere! This is a good place to watch sports in HD for sure. The Bar has a strong neighborhood feel to it. The staff is on the ball and they all have a good personality. Just talk to them and you'll feel like family in no time. They seem like they are happy with their workplace. That's good stuff! The wings are wicked awesome. They offer a good selection of sauces and I can say they are arguably the best wings I've tried in KC yet. The bleu cheese is mad chunky too! They make a pretty mean spicy bloody mary here. The presentation could use some work, but the drink gets an honorable mention for sure. You get a nice drink for $3.50. I had one during the day and one in the evening on the same day. Both bartenders garnished them differently, but neither one of them went outside the box on the garnishes or rimmers. I got olives and a lime wedge in the day and a lime wedge at night. No rimmers. If these guys up the ante on the presentation they could build a Sunday cult following for their bloodies. It could jump from damn good to f****** amazing. They have a good selection of rotating drafts as well as a nice arsenal of craft bottles. The liquor selection is respectable too. They even offer a variety of moonshines. That's a nice touch. I have been here several times. It hasn't always been perfect, but the attitude of the staff makes hiccups go unnoticed. I like the camaraderie feel to the place. It's the kind of place where strangers cross paths and chat it up like old friends. I've had belly laughs with both the bartenders and bar squatters alike. I'm a raving fan and totally dig that this place is a couple of minutes away from my house. The Bar has a good feel to it. Check it out.

Pretty happy to have a new option for neighborhood go-to place! I watched with interest as this outpost, within easy walking or biking distance from my home, got ready to open at the site of an old service station. Physical atmosphere-wise, it's nothing groundbreaking, but it's got booths, hightops, and bar seating to accommodate different sizes and types of groups. Outdoor seating looks like something to look forward to in the months to come when things warm up...they retained the roll-up garage doors. In terms of overall atmosphere, I found it to be really friendly. The bartender was pleasant, asked my husband and I if we lived in the area, and offered up tips about the menu. Draws were good and reasonably priced, and they have some pretty good specials on wings. The wings were generous, served with good dressing, and spicy and well-sauced but not overly sloppy like wings can be. Bartender recommended the Thai wings, so will give those a try next time. Nice addition to the scene along Johnson Drive!

Stopped in for a royals game, wasn't in the mood for drinks- so we ordered cokes. bartender was quite busy as the place is always packed. At the end of the night, bartender said, "it's on me - come back and watch another game". I was impressed with the hospitality. I wasn't a fan of trivia night - annoying. But... For the royals games I'll be back.

Just your typical Sysco food delivery wagon drop off spot. Very average and kind of seemed like it would fare better as a nightlife spot. Had a grilled chicken salad that exceeded expectations, but felt like dog the bounty hunter might walk in at some point and order a drink. Nothing about it called me to come back.

I liked the atmosphere and there were tons of tv's which was nice because no matter where you sit you can see one. I did enjoy the pepperjack bites, they were good. I ordered the shrimp dinner and ordered the sauteed shrimp vs. the fried and was not impressed. It just seemed soggy and a bit overcooked. I would try the fried next time. My husband had a hamburger and said it was ok. A little bland but not terrible. This is a good place for apps and drinks.

This place is super quaint but they have managed to squeeze in everything you need in a bar and grill. They have a decent selection of beer and food. The chipotle ranch salad was served in a large deep bowl and was one of the better chicken salads I have had in a while. The second visit was on a really nice day on the outdoor patio. It included boulevard beer and quite tasty beef sliders.. Definitely recommended for bar and grill scene.

We had lunch at the new The Bar. I have been to the sister Bar West a few times. Wanted to try the new location. It has the same menu, so I had a salad (they have great salads). It was good, it could have used a little more TLC....but hey, its a new place. I liked the inside of the bar, was curious what the noise level would be during big games since its a big room. One thing I am interested in are the garage doors, that should be fun to have them open in the Spring and Fall. Most importantly, the beer was cold. They had several on tab, but it was a work day so only had two.. :)

The Bar, for a first visit, definitely made me want to return. What a great addition to Mission! It clearly shows what has been lacking. A place with decent prices, good food and great service. Our server, Amanda, was really attentive and friendly. There are plenty of daily specials; both food and drinks. We started with pickle chips. These were very lightly breaded and served with ranch. I really enjoyed them as you could taste the pickle not the breading. I ordered the Ultimate BLT minus mayo. The bacon. The candied bacon. Oh my...the bacon. It made this sandwich. I was hesitant to order it because it is served on a pretzel roll. I haven't had a successful sandwich served on a pretzel roll until now. It was soft but didn't fall to bits and pieces. The sandwich has both cheddar and swiss which is fine. I could do with one or the other but hey it's supposed to be the Ultimate. The fries could have had been crisper but were better than most places. There plenty of TV's in the small area. I'm sure it gets loud when it's crowded. There is an outside area with seating. We're already planning to walk down here to sit outside this summer. I hope The Bar succeeds because Mission needs this; especially when trying to revitalize Johnson Drive.

If you want miller light in a bottle this is not the place to go..If you can't take care of ordering beer I hope you do a better job at ordering dish soap

A friend and I tried out The Bar one night after working out, we were looking for something casual and quick. The Bar was packed around 7:00, but we found two spots at the bar. The Royals were playing and it was wing night, thus explaining the crowded quarters. We ordered drinks, for myself, a beer on tap, for my friend, a sweet tea cocktail. She really enjoyed the cocktail, and I appreciated the variety of beers to choose from. I ordered Thai chili wings and my friend ordered a steak wrap. I really enjoyed the wings. They were the right amount spicy/sweet- so many Thai sauces are too sweet, and fried to perfection. I failed to mention that I appreciate crispy wings, but I didn't need to, the wings came out piping hot and perfectly crisp. Don't you hate it when your wings come out soggy? Don't worry about that happening here. While perusing the menu I noticed the weekend bloody mary specials, I will be sure to come back to try those out. Service was great, the bartender was fantastic, the prices were right and the food was delicious. The Bar has earned a spot in our rotation, for sure.

The Bar is a welcome addition to Johnson Drive. It's a great place to watch a game (small TVs in every booth!) and the food has been pretty good. So far I've tried one of the burgers and a salad, and both were tasty and served in generous portions. The menu is very long (a little too long in my opinion) but it allows for a lot of options so you're sure to find something you like.

Fun atmosphere, went on a Saturday night and they had reverse happy hour. Service isn't the best (a bit slow and inattentive) but overall for a bar great specials, solid food and nice outside area. Good addition to Mission.

First let me say, like most, I was ecstatic when we heard of this place opening. My wife and I live merely 5 minutes away at most, walking distance even... so this was right up our alley. Now, as a few have stated on here, this is my general opinion of this place. Generic. Generic food for certain! There isn't one item I've ordered here and fell in love with. In fact, I always get a good laugh when waitresses ask me "how would you like your burger cooked" I want to respond "It really doesn't matter... You're going to burn it anyway" instead, I opt for "medium".... They always come out well done. Like WELL done. Not to mention the prices are um, well - they seem proud of their bar food. Oh NEVER ORDER THE NACHOS. You get 6 chips with melted cheese on there.... No, I'm not kidding. And yes they will charge you $10 for it. Believe me we've made the mistake. I've had luck with my servers so that's a "pro". Beer specials are again, ok. Nothing spectacular at all. All in all - decent place. But I only go there for convenience of location and we usually be sure to eat dinner at home before we go. Food is really not their forte, at all. Good spot to get some beers w/ friends and have a nice stroll home. But I would never go out of my way to come here... Sorry "The Bar" you're just not quite what I was hoping for. Close try though.

I had no idea this place was here! We were running errands on a Sunday morning and saw it as we drove by. We pulled in, sat at the bar, had a few beers and food. We split the nachos and a burger. The nachos were fantastic. They were not a huge pile with too many chips and not enough topping. It was the perfect size for two to split as an app or one person for a meal. Great toppings and good salsa and chipotle ranch on the side.Burger looked delicious and was good. Not great. It was overlooked. I should have known when the Bartender said, "would you like that medium well?" I wanted medium rare, but ordered medium. It was well done. Still decent though. Food looked good that they were bringing out and good beers on tap. We will definitely be back!

Great place! Nice seating and plenty of TVs to watch games. I have come back twice for the BLT w/ candied bacon. Very impressed with the food so far. Staff is attentive and nice. Will be coming back to try more.

I've been interested in The Bar since I saw the "coming soon" signs go up months ago, and I finally made it the other night for a couple of beers and some wings with my wife. (It was $5 for 10 wing night, which right there is going to bias me a bit in favor of any place. I'm a simple man in many ways.) I was quite pleased. It's both a nice bar and a nice restaurant, which is a combination I feel Mission has been lacking. The food we sampled--okay, we only sampled one item, but still--was very good, the bar had a very nice selection of beverages ranging from beers to single malts, the prices were decent, and, best of all, the bartender knows how to pour a Guiness on tap. Heaven. The atmosphere was also nice--it was a bit loud, but in a "people having fun" way rather than a "dear Lord I can't hear myself think" way, and the seating was comfortable. We were at the bar by the door, but didn't get frozen out every time the door opened, too. I'm looking forward to going back when it warms up and they can open the garage doors to the patio seating. Overall, it's a nice place to have in my neighborhood, and I will definitely be going back.

"The bar" is just that: A generic, decent, but overall underwhelming establishment. The decor, draft and food selection, and service just screams 'generic.' Further, I was dismayed to find a charge for extra ketchup and honey mustard on my tab. While it is nice to have another option on Johnson Drive, I think "The Bar' needs to find its identity quickly or risk becoming just another bland Mission bar, and there's enough of those already.

First off, we will go back for beer specials. Second, the service was awful. Waited 35 min for food. Wrap came in a hot dog bun! Food was cold. Waitress was scurring around and talking to people at bar ignoring us. Bartender refused to come to table when requested. 2 meals FINALLY comped after we went up to bar. Don't know about eating there again, though. Shame, since we live right by the place.

VERY LOUD bar and restaurant. They have a great menu and even better happy hour from 2-5pm and reverse happy hour 9- close. They can make any drink. Many TV's about 20. Outdoor seating available. 2 Garage doors can open. Nice parking lot and many other spaces available on Johnson Drive and side streets.

Visited on New Year's Eve for lunch. Food was delicious. Standard bar food fare but that's the atmosphere they're going for. Nicely appointed decor and staff was friendly. A cozy place to watch the game and have a beer.
