I don't go to this location often as it is an awkward location sometimes and I have two locations closer, but I was in the area. I've been known to have some problems getting my order right at this location, which is atypical for other locations, so it's usually not worth the hassle. Since I was just across the street and it was drink happy hour and I was thirsty, I figured that ordering a soda wouldn't be hard. I went to the drive thru and there were a couple cars ahead of me. When it was my turn, I ordered a LARGE FANTA ORANGE. She didn't know what that was. I repeated myself and explained it was on the menu board. She said "OOOOOOH FANTA?" "Yes." "And you want us to add ORANGE FLAVORING?" "No." "You said Fanta Orange" "It's already ORANGE." "We have to charge you for flavoring." "It's ALREADY ORANGE. It's FANTA ORANGE. It's like Root Beer is already Root Beer flavored." "Hmmmm. I'll have to check. Go ahead and pull around." Turns out that someone must have explained it to her because she was "allowed" to sell me Fanta Orange without a surcharge for flavoring. I drove home slamming my head on my steering wheel.

This is the slowest sonic ever. Avoid if you have anywhere to go... Ever. Management: something isn't working as smoothly as it could. Quicker and friendlier customer service could make all the difference!

This isn't starting out very well. From the moment I tried placing my order at the megaphone, the person at the other and could not hear me's, so they said. The wait in line was over 15 minutes in the drive-through, on a Saturday night. This should not take this long. From the looks of previous reviews it seems this location is gotten some negative response. I would have to agree that this sounds about the same. In fact it took so long that the guy in front of me just left the line. What in the hell is taking so long....

So we only ordered three drinks during Happy Hour. All three drinks were straight from their menu. We didn't even ask for any add ins. After three times of repeating orange soda, me leaning out of the window and saying orange soda again, we still ended up with ice cream blended with orange soda. She even read it back to me. I'll be honest. The man child appreciated the bonus especially since he hasn't had ice cream in awhile but dang. How hard was three drinks? And she gave us attitude too. Man, I think Sonic just has a vendetta against me. Never again.

I would give zero stars if I could. Even worse than the typical sonic. No matter if you're the only customer you will still wait forever and they will screw up your order. Definitely not worth the wait. Go somewhere else.

Drinks only. Hard to mess up a slush and a shake, but when you want consistency, this place is a given. Quick service and delicious refreshments.

Ok, I give up. This relationship is just not going to work. I get that this is fast food but you have got to at least hit the bar set by your peers guys. I was in last week to grab 2 shakes from the drive thru so the husband and I could proceed with movie night ice cream in hand. They were quite busy, and rightfully so since it was after 8 and shakes are half price. I actually didn't mind waiting... it's what I witnessed during my wait that disturbed me. Typically when I visit this location it's not at the drive thru, this time I was able to see everyone in action. I saw car hops and cooks in tidy uniforms working hard and trying to get orders completed quickly. That's a good thing. The not so good thing? The slovenly dressed woman standing in the middle of it all, worsening the bottleneck as she stared up at the computer taking up space and picking at her nose. Unfortunately, I'm not kidding. At least she was not handling food. Oh, and when I inquired, this person was identified to me as the manager. Nice example. So, that's it. I'm moving on to another Sonic. It's not me Martway Sonic, it's you. It's all you.

Got 2 double cheese burgers today, one hour apart each. 1st time it looked very good, unfortunately before I could wolf it down, the dog beat me to it. So I went immediately back again to Sonic. Paid again for the exact same order and got it home. Opened it up, and it was wrong. A single burger. No onions, Lettuce looked it was old and brownish, nasty. But I was hungry and was not about to go back, so I ate it. When I was finished it, I discovered a hole through my cardboard box on the bottom and table was all wet underneath. Called manager and told him about it. He said, What do you want me to do? And that was not a good response? Yes, I was mad.

I've given this sonic location so many chances and they always seem to mess every order up. Every. Single. Order. Not only do they mess it up, they take forever. I don't understand why it's so hard to take an order correctly, especially when it's said back. I've worked at sonic and it wasn't complicated. This location needs to get it together.

This is an okay location. I use it when I'm over this way. I hit a lot of fast food places while I'm out and about mostly for drinks. Iced tea or occasionally a coke. I have no issues with this location and I really don't have any experience eating here.

It's a sonic. Nothing to fancy or different about this location. Most of the time it does take a little longer than most of them. But most of the time I'm just dropping by to get a shake or something small like that.

The only reason I keep going back to this Sonic is because of location. The service and food are not worth wasting your money on, so why do I keep going back? Because I think that it'll change... but it doesn't. Plain and simple, I do not recommend this Sonic for the following reasons: 1) this is the slowest Sonic I've ever encountered - I've tried both the stalls and the drive-thru, and I think the drive-thru option is the slowest of the two. 2) many times items are left off your order, even though you've paid for them. This has happened twice to me - both times I got home and realized that my cheddar bites or my tots were left out of the bag. 3) the blizzard-like items contain about 5% goodies. Alright, I'm going to stop there before I make myself thirsty for their "Happy Hour" where drinks are 1/2 price. This is why I go back, because they always get my drink order right.

I'm only going to comment about this Sonic because I have a complaint with it. I know fellow Yelpers want to hear about unique places to Kansas City, but if I have a regular negative experience anywhere, even if it's a regular fast food chain, I think you all deserve to know about it (and the same goes with positive experiences)! So this is the reasoning from which I am writing this review. I love Sonic as a whole, I really do, but this Sonic kind of puts the others to shame. It's not that the food is terrible or the people are unfriendly (both are actually the opposite) -- it's that it takes SO FREAKING LONG. Yesterday I went to get a pop (I heart the ice) and some tater tots. It was about 1:30 in the afternoon and there were only 2 cars in the park-order part and one large truck in front of me in the drive-thru. "Great," I thought. "I can breeze through here and be back to work on time." Well, my plans of being on time for once were demolished because, somehow, my adventure through the drive-thru took almost 20 minutes. "Perhaps the truck in front of her had a large order." you ponder. Well, this is quite the opposite. They just had a sundae and a pop (you best believe I was paying attention to that). How can that take 20 minutes? I actually was able to turn my car off for about 10 of those minutes, waiting behind the truck, while it was ordering/idling/doing whatever large, unnecessarily heightened trucks do. And this hasn't been the first time I've had to wait a long time. I've been there when I was the only one in the drive-thru. I've waited in the park-order part (I'm sure there is a fancier name for this) and I've had to wait. Ugh. If it wasn't for the location and friendly staff, I would probably go to another Sonic. They definitely need to start bringing their A-Game.

What can I say, it is another Sonic. Even though I am only ordering drinks, they still get it wrong 1 in 5 times. Even 5 Sonic employee's cannot make one brain. Check your order.

I have to agree with Jeff. This Sonic is about the worst I've ever been to, but it's the closest to my house. I've never been poisoned there, but if I'm going to order a lot of food, then I'm going to the downtown Overland Park location (that location is AWESOME!!!) Maybe management can turn this location around. I went there yesterday and Lizzie seemed helpful. Anyway, they will still get my money unless something really bad happens, but I LOVE Sonic's drinks... Oh, my problems with this location include: Not honoring special pricing during discount hours and not answering the drive-thru early in the morning numerous times when they were supposed to be open. Normally I'm just buying a frozen coffee or diet coke, so the person wouldn't even have had to cook anything. Oh well.

Sonic, this isn't about you, this is about this Sonic location. Never again Martway Sonic, never again. This has been the closest or most convenient Sonic for me for 10 years. Do I drive to other Sonics all the time because this one is awful? All the time. They first received my ire when they started trying to cheat me. You see, I don't like chili on my hot dogs, the texture of ground beef on a sausage grosses me out and I won't have it. Yet I really liked the foot long coney meal deal just without the chili on the hot dog. This Sonic decided that it wasn't eligible for the meal deal unless the hot dog had the chili on it. It's only a 50 cent difference but being overcharged really irks me. They claimed that the chili dog was the only thing eligible for the deal so to get the meal deal I had to get chili on the side. 90% of the time, the hot dog came to me covered in chili and I had to send it back, it's of no use to me with chili on it. The whole ordeal always annoyed me to the point where I would just leave the little cup of chili on the menu stand. That ordeal, which lasted for over a year (maybe 2 trips a month) finally led me to Sonics that weren't as close to me, but didn't hassle me. The past couple of years I've become a fan of a Rt. 44 drink in the morning and every other Sonic charges $1 or $1.19 for it before 11. Not this Sonic. Full price. I'm surprised they have happy hour. Which leads me to today's visit. The refrigerator in our house is broken and I was toting 3 kids around looking at refrigerators (perhaps the most difficult shopping excursion you can imagine). We were thirsty and it was happy hour and we were right by this Sonic. We pulled in at 2:03 and ordered a cherry limeade for me and 3 lemonades for the kids. The only Sonic employees I saw in our time waiting were 2 of them sitting at one of the tables outside smoking. One of the employees (who btw was parked in the stall closest to the door) left to take a deposit to the bank. We finally gave up and left at 2:23. We went to the Sonic down Metcalf by the White Haven where I witnessed a carhop running and another one skating. We were there maybe 4 minutes. But because of the wait at the Martway Sonic, the sweet sweet flavor of a cherry limeade didn't touch my lips until 2:40, 35 minutes after it should have happened. I don't care what the circumstances are, I'm never going to this Sonic again. The franchisee has nickel and dimed me for years, cheated me often, wasted untold hours of my time and infuriated me so bad evenings have been ruined for me. I have to resist the urge to fill a Ziploc bag with my urine the next time I go to the Hy-Vee next door. Nothing would feel better than to fling it at this Sonic.
