Ok, popeyes is the best fried chicken chain in the country, their food is always good and new menu items keep me coming back. This is really the only popeyes location for a while so this is the place. The food is always consistent and they stay busy enough that there is a good turnover. The employees admittedly aren't the best, I feel like they need more training. The attitude is joking and easy going, that has it pros (if you've ever been to a resturant where the employees seemed stressed and angry then you'd understand) but again if you're in a hurry maybe that's not in your favor. My advice is always check all the boxes I rarely have issues but when I do it is always taken care of quickly and the employees have never been rude.

I love Popeyes, but unfortunately I couldn't eat at this location tonight because when my boyfriend and I ordered the 8 piece family meal they responded with "We don't have enough chicken for an 8 piece. We close in 30 minutes so we can't make anymore." Chicken is the only thing this place serves! If I can't order 8 pieces of chicken then why the hell are they even open? There was someone behind me in the drive thru too so I'm sure they drove away empty handed as well.

Grrrrr! Don't know if I'm more frustrated about me not checking my order before I left (as other yelpers have suggested), or that they messed up my simple order and forgot my mashed potatoes among other things. I usually come here and eat in, so if there's something missing/wrong I can easily notice it. This time I went in for takeout as I didn't want to risk the drive-thru for getting the order wrong. Well, it didn't matter how I ordered. I wanted to try some new things for me here, so I ordered 3 strips of their fish with a side of jambalaya, and my usual of 3 spicy chicken tenders with a side of mashed potatoes. Regular tartar sauce for the fish and cajun ranch for the chicken. Pretty simple I think? Gal who took my order needed me to repeat slowly 3 times, and asked me to wait while she tried to figure out how to input it in the register. Turns out she overcharged me, and input "regular" strips instead of spicy (told her 3 times mind you). Took a look into the bag before I left but everything was boxed up - so I gave them a vote of cofidence that everything was there and correct. Once I got home, I ended up with: Regular tenders instead of spicy No mashed potatoes although it was on the receipt and was charged for it Dipping sauces - one was a "cocktail sauce" or something instead of blackend ranch, and a spicy tartar sauce when I requested regular. The Jambalaya I tried was pretty depressing - and bland even. Never tried it before and I won't again. Nothing like the sides I usually get - Mashed potatoes, Red beans and rice, or the Cajun Rice. I like the food at Popeyes when they get the order right, but as others have mentioned - the workers either don't care, can't hear, can't think, or something else? Wish things could improve on the service - this is either a training issue or what? 2 stars for the chicken only. Maybe 1.5 stars for the fish. 0 stars for the incompetent service! Grrrrr......

I go to this Popeye's pretty much exclusively about twice a month. Employees are usually really friendly, food is always a solid 4+ start, orders are almost always wrong... I feel bad for these employees because with such poor accuracy, they may never move up and onto better things. We always order the chicken tenders (regular and spicy), shrimp, sides, biscuits, sauces, strawberry drink and tea. I would stop going there due to the orders always being wrong, if we didn't love the food so much...

First visit: I ordered the regular chicken five dollar box meal. The chicken was very tender. The coating was very crispy. I got the coleslaw and thought it was very good. It is a creamy coleslaw and coarsely chopped. I also ordered the cajun rice. Did not care for it too much. It was bland and did not have a lot of flavor. The best part was the biscuit. It was so buttery without putting anything on it. Probably artery clogging but...yum! The server at the drive-through window was very friendly. However as others have noted, they did not get my order right and I left without my dipping sauce. Second visit: I had looked online at the menu and was glad I did because I got their livers. They were delicious. I also tried red beans and rice. Not a lot of sauce and few beans but a good flavor. Mashed potatoes tasted typical for potato flakes but their gravy was very good. I definitely like this place as well as KFC and will continue to try some of their other offerings. Don't shy away from the blackened ranch sauce...it is not too spicy and has a good zip to it. Mardi Gras sauce is a sweet brown mustard taste. Several other dipping sauces to try as well!

The service sucks and they NEVER get the order right. Every single time I have gone there, they mess up the order or forget items. They are too busy socializing and screwing around rather than doing what they are being paid to do! I should not have to verify every piece of chicken and biscuit is accounted for on each and every order placed. I'm so fed up with it that I am not going back and I'm spreading the word! It's a shame because the food is good. Wish management would fix the people problem and make the employees accountable.

Popeye's always dishes up great fried chicken for cheap. And you have to get the mashed potatoes and a biscuit. At least, that's what I think it the best. The food get's four stars, and the service brings it down a star. They are usually not friendly and nowhere near concerned that there is a huge long line forming with hungry people in it. They take their time, and get orders wrong, all without a smile. It's come to be expected here, so I don't expect good service, just good chicken for cheap.

I'm not sure why Stephanie said this place is closed, it's definitely still in business as of this review. Anyway, overall, I like this chain. My fries are rarely right out of the fryer, but they don't usually taste hours old. My order is nearly always correct (though not complicated) unless I'm ordering for my fiance, who doesn't want gravy on his mashed potatoes. They never get that correct. Ever. Not once. One time an employee even told me, "You should have said no gravy," when I brought them back (after I learned I must check them before I leave the parking lot) I always say no gravy. Usually more than once. Why? Because my fiance tells me very adamantly that he just wants them plain. Anyway. Most of the employees aren't rude, but they aren't that friendly either. I know working in fast food sucks, but I wish more of them would smile. Or even sound remotely like they actually want me to have a nice day. (Some of them do... most just don't.) My biggest gripe is when they have people pull up in their drive-thru because the food is taking too long. The exit goes straight onto Johnson Dr. east bound one way, so they can't even go to the parking lot. The car has to just sit there until an employee walks all the way out to deliver the food. Which just takes WAY longer, because even if they hand me my food immediately after, I still have to wait there until that other car gets their food. I wish they would just keep the car at the window.

*cliff notes - Food good / Service bad I would give the chicken 4 stars.....but the service deserves -4 stars....but then again it's a chain fast food chicken place so it gains a couple of those stars back because we can't expect great service at chain food joints. Pros; chicken is great for a chain chicken place Cons; 1. Management must be terrible, I say management since chain restaurant employees never care so it's a question of how much the management cares or tries to make them do their jobs.....since this staff has 0 concern for getting orders correct and ignore long lines and just goof off....i can only assume the managers don't care either. Wish this wasn't the case since the food usually tastes good (assuming the order is correct and you don't do takeout and forget to check the order before leaving) Note to anyone who might own this location or manage it....please make your staff at least try a little bit....cause i'd love to come here more often instead of KFC (cause i don't like KFC food as much, but they tend to not send me home with the wrong food after waiting forever in a line while employees goof off joking around with each other)

Asked the family what they wanted for lunch on a Saturday and the answer came back : chicken. So with that in mind, we decided to trek over to the Popeye's Chicken on Johnson Drive near Metcalf Avenue in old Mission. I've been a patron of this place for years, but not what would be considered on a regular basis. Yes, Popeye's is fast food. Yes, it's kind of faux Cajun. But in my experience, they make an excellent crispy fried chicken. We have a Church's Fried Chicken rather close to where we live, but although Church's does okay, it's still not as good as Popeye's, in my opinion. As for KFC, let's just leave well enough alone. Well, the chicken was outstanding, as usual. We typically get the mild variety, but if you like the spicey, they have it. My wife had the popcorn shrimp. A little too much breading, but typical for a fast-food place that serves popcorn shrimp. Where I tend to find Popeye's lacking are the side items. Some are OK-to-good (their green beans would fall into this category) and some aren't as good. For instance, I ordered cole slaw, and it was a soupy mess. Their biscuits are okay, but nothing special. The manager who took my order was courteous, helpful and polite. The prices were reasonable. The restaurant looked clean to me. My wife said their women's room could stand some defumigating. So, somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars in my book. I rounded up and gave them the benefit of the doubt.

The employees are rude and mean. Be prepared to be greeted with a bitchy attitude from everyone who works there. You will have to repeat your order 2 or 3 times before they get it right. Even then your order will come out wrong. Once you get your food it does taste good so that is why I gave them 2 stars.
