This is my favorite Minsky's location and Minsky's is my favorite pizza place in Kansas City. I've been going to Minsky's since I was a young child, and although I've tried all the other places, eager to buy the hype of the Spin!s and Pizzabellas and what have you, they just don't quite do it for me like Minsky's does. The State Line location is small, sometimes requiring a small wait, but the staff is friendly and, of course, the food has always been good. The only complaint I have about this location is seasonal - it tends to get VERY hot. Great in the Fall and Winter, but pretty unpleasant in the Summer. Oh, and the magician. That's another complaint, I suppose, depending on your feelings on tableside entertainment and audience participation (mine are negative), but I've only encountered him once. Otherwise, this location is a nice, fairly quiet place to take your family or to watch sports, or combine the two? On a weekend, I recommend calling in your order in advance. And arriving early. It gets pretty busy and I'd otherwise expect a wait. Other recommendations: don't count out the sandwiches and the cheese steak or the barbeque chicken pizza. But you can't really go wrong!

This is the second time I've tried Minsky's, and again I was not impressed. The #1 problem was that it took a little over 30 minutes to get our food; we had 4 people in our party (2 of them kids who were splitting a pizza) and the restaurant was not even half full. Our waitress was nice but was in no way aware of the time it was taking. Another thing that bugs me is when you order kids food, it should not come out so hot you can't touch it for 5 minutes. I used to wait tables and that was a big priority to the manager--never bring kid's food too hot! Their mini cheese pizza was the best food we had...my husband barely touched his meatball grinder; and he's not that hard to please. His fries were nasty and old too. I got the pizza with chicken, olive oil, potatoes, etc., which I've had similar pizzas at other restaurants, and it was super bland and the chicken was gross. The one good thing was the wheat crust; that's always a nice choice to have. Anyway, I know I'm sounding harsh but this was a similar experience to our first time there so now I know it really is not worth going. I'd rather order Pizza Hut.

I come to Kansas City a couple of times a year and I always find time to visit Minksy's Pizza! The crust is chewy and tender, and the ingredient quality is high, especially the cheese. My favorite pie is the Papa Minsky's: sweet sauce, pepperoni, italian sausage, salami, roasted red peppers, mozzarella and parmesan! It's a combination I've never seen elsewhere...and even if you were to get the same toppings, it would't, couldn't be the same without the sweet basil laden tomato sauce. In one of my recent visits, I was reminded of another delicacy they serve: The Five Star Cheese pizza! It's no ordinary cheese pizza from the alfredo sauce to the bittersweet tang of dried rosemary sprinkled on top.

I've been hearing about Minsky's pizza for awhile now because my husband's family always goes there when they visit his brother in KC. So when I visited, I wanted to try it out! We dined in and found it not too crowded on a Sunday afternoon. Service was good and our waitress was really nice and quick on the refills. It's a little dark in there, but seems clean. I like that they have 5 different sizes of pizza, including the standard S, M and L, plus a mini (personal size) and a huge 26" pie. I got a mini because I'm weird and like my pizza with cheese only, no toppings. I got the pan crust. Maybe that was my mistake. It was all bread and seemed like there was almost no cheese on my pizza at all. The sauce was ok, kind of sweet. The crust was decent, kind of buttery. The cheese was standard. The salad was good, especially with creamy Italian dressing. Fresh and with some toppings like broccoli and also came with a breadstick. They were big - we shared 2 between 6 of us and each ate a bit. My dining companions ordered a couple different pizzas, speciality style. I think the toppings here set it apart as they have different ones, but the base pizza (crust, sauce, cheese) is just ok for me overall. I'd go back, but I might also have a quest to find the best pizza in KC and am not sure Minsky's is it. We'll see!

Love this place. Just about anything on the menu is worth ordering. Their buffalo wings, which are sadly not available at some places, are out of this world. Salad portion is a good size. Makes a nice compliment to any pizza. Taco pizza is HIGHLY recommended. You won't be disappointed.

After searching for pizza spots near my accommodations, I settled on Minsky's, a local KC chain that's been pumping out pizzas for nearly forty years. I ordered takeout and arrived early, so I decided to sit in the dining area so I could catch some of the NBA Finals on one of their multiple screens. The server was very helpful and had no issue bringing me some of my order and a beer while I waited for the other pizza to finish. The pizza was tasty though nothing to write home about. The service was superb though so I'll give it four stars for that!

Pizza is terrific. Cheeseburger and Mediterranean are our personal favorites. Nice beer choices. The rest of the menu that is not pizza is pretty forgettable. But you go for the pizza. Service is average.

Get the cheeseburger pizza you won't regret it. I had the meat lovers, but they call it something different. Also a no brainier. Pass on deep dish. They got it wrong. It's all crust. This was for the location close to the plaza.

I have never dined in here but we have carried out many times, and we consistently get excellent tasting pizza in a decent timeframe. For example, tonight we ordered two medium original crust pizzas, cheese breadsticks, and three gluten-free pizzas and they were ready for pick up in *20 minutes*. Once home, we really enjoyed our food. The cheese breadsticks had a crispy bottom and had a hint of herbs, possibly thyme. The pizzas had an excellent amount of toppings, and they tasted fresh and had so much flavor. Pepperoni had a bit of spice and green peppers were crunchy. I love it when my pizza is enveloped with cheese but isn't too greasy, and Minsky's pies fits that bill. And even though I'm not gluten-free, it's great that we're able to have a place where we can get items so that we could have the same meal with family members who can't have gluten. Prices for these items are a little on the pricey side but that's the plight of being gluten-free. Great Minsky's location. We'll continue to give them our business.

Needed a place to eat after an incredibly hot golf game on a sunday night, so we decided to try this Minsky's location. Natalie was an excellent server and did a great job of taking care of us as well as being friendly and helpful when we placed our order. She could not have done anything better! We ordered a pizza and salad and we were happy with both of our choices. The side salad was a nice size and fresh. I like Minsky's pizza in general and this location made an excellent pizza! We will certainly return and hope to have Natalie take care of us again.

2 friends and I came here after church one Sunday and the entire experience just seemed to be a little off. After being seated, it took forever for our waitress to come over and take our drink order. Once we got our waters, I found some crumbs in mine (before I even took a sip), but had to wait a very long time for her to come back so I could request a new one. She also forgot our straws. The "tablecloths" are paper and most places with paper table gave you crayons. No crayons here. One friend is vegetarian. There are 2 vegetarian options on the menu. Our menu was nasty and sticky. We only got 1 menu to share because apparently they were out. I ordered breadsticks because I knew the pizza was going to take awhile. The breadsticks were delicious. The pizza came and it was good, but not special in any way. Editable, but totally forgettable. I think it had tomatoes and almonds on it. I very much prefer Waldo's Pizza. Or even Papa John's. While were at it, Little Ceasar's, too.

This location has become my favourite. Not only because we live South in the area but because of the staff and consistency. The wait staff are all excellent - not only are they attentive, they are simply really sweet. The food is pretty much the same as the midtown restaurant - VERY good. I think their honey wheat crust is the best I have ever had. It is buttery while not being overly heavy. There is a salty sweetness to it that makes it really difficult to eat just half of a calzone (which would be plenty). I have to say, their salads have been so consistent on their menu over the years that I am surprised and pleased. I appreciate the fact that they got certain things right (Pizzas, Calzones, Salads) and LEFT them that way. If you want a REALLY reliably great, welcome place to eat. This is your place.

Alright, so seriously Kansas. This pizza is overpriced and poor at best. The Fact that I had to spend 20 dollars on a two topping 14" pie is absurd. I know that I will get some sh*t for this but as someone from NY, I expect a simple pie such as pepperoni and red peppers to be at least satisfactory. This was nothing near that, Dough was soft and overly chewy, toppings were bland and hell, it was 20 dollars for a pizza that could barely feed two! DON'T be fooled! Go anywhere else or better yet, save 14 dollars and buy a frozen rising crust pizza, you will thank me later. If you insist on going out though, just go to Waldo, they at least try to put out a nice product.

Oh Minsky's - you were a life saver! I was traveling to KC with the pickiest pizza eaters on the planet. We ordered a couple of their pizzas and a bundle of breadsticks at 9:00 on a Sunday night. The pizza arrived right at the time they quoted and the food was still piping hot. The crust was soft and delicious and the breadsticks were excellent. The picky three gobbled it up like it was the last supper. Definately going to keep this place on speed dial for future KC trips!

I am originally from the East coast and I know good pizza. The pizza has flavor and the right spice. It definitely does not taste like cardboard as in the chain stores. The shop is pretty and looks like a family run restaurant. It is very traditional pizza shop

Ordered a pizza over the phone for delivery. Started with asking if they could deliver to my address. They said they could, and took my order. Then after 40 min I get a phone call. It's Minsky's. And guess what: Turns out they can't deliver to my address. But they say they'll give me a discount if I come pick it up. Seriously?!?! Have you ever heard of CUSTOMER SERVICE?????? If I'm a manager in that situation. I make the person who took the order deliver the pizza and don't pay her for the drive, and call the customer letting them know that no tip is necessary. Needless to say a company that doesn't value it's customers is not one I will be doing business with. AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU.

My friend and I come here periodically for the lunch special. You get a soft drink, with free refills (yay!), a salad and a LARGE piece of pizza, which is really like two .pieces.The service is excellent and the cost is less than $7. The crust of Minky's pizza is not my favorite. It is more bread-like and thicker than I prefer. However, the sauce is good and plentiful and the toppings are high quality and plentiful also. I will definitely be back for lunch.

3.5 stars Long story short: good pizza, pretty good atmosphere at decent prices Long story long: I have to give you a disclaimer: I just love pizza. Seriously... I gotta love the Italians for taking the Chinese invention and making it about a gagillion times better. Yes, I just talked down my own people. I've actually been here twice. The first time, I came with a handful of people and we were given a seat in the corner of their dining room. The place seemed like a local pizza parlour type of place, which well, that's basically what this is. Their prices seemed reasonable. Between the 9 of us, we decided to get the Il Gigantor, a 26" behemoth going for $42.99. We decided to get half of the Papa Minskys and the other half, the Five Star Cheese. After about 10-15 minutes, our pizza came out and wow... you never realize how big 26" is until you see it in context of something like a pizza. The pizza was cut into square pieces, and we dug in. The Papa Muphy has pepperoni, Italian sausage, salami, roasted red peppers, their Minskitoni sauce, topped with mozzarella and romano cheeses. The Five Star Cheese had provoline, Monterey Jack, swiss, feta, and romano cheese, with an alfredo sauce, then sprinkled with rosemary. A couple people at the table got their own appetizers. After eating a couple pieces of each pizza, I came to the conclusion that while they weren't stellar, they were both flavorful and definitely would be something I would order again. Actually, let me backtrack. I would probably order the Papa Minsky's over the Five Star Cheese. Service was hit and miss, but leaning toward "hit". The second time I visited, I had received a postcard in the mail for a free calzone, up to $6.99, for my birthday. Several months prior, I had signed up as they were having a drawing for free pizza for a year. I did not win the pizza, but I got a free birthday calzone, that's fine with me. I got my calzone with sausage, red onions, mushrooms, and green peppers. Decently sized and pretty good. I mean, I haven't had many calzones, but how can you go wrong with meat, cheese, and veggies stuffed inside dough? Wait... that's what Hot Pockets managed to do... Service this time was better this time. Would I come back again? I love pizza, so more than likely yes.

This is my 2nd favorite pizza in the whole wide city. The Papa Minsky's is scrumptiddlydumbscious. Minsky's uses loads of top notch ingredients, and after you've ate/gorged there, you can feel a sizable anvil in your gut. They have a decent beer selection too, and have my favorite, yet exceedingly rare, appetizer - Stuffed Red Peppers. Just like Jalapeno poppers, but with a red pepper and a little more subtle flavor. Nom! Seating is usually pretty good, but parking is crappy. I wish they had carryout parking, but no dice. There is a bar next to it as well, and the parking lot isn't designed for two businesses right next to each other to have peak traffic times. The only other possible downside to Minsky's is the price. Two pizzas will set you back about 30 bones. You can tell though, while eating the pizza that they use very high quality ingredients, and in my opinion, that is worth the price. It's easy to walk away with a $50+ bill for a family of four after drinks/tip/pizza/apps, but I think you'll agree it still is a good value.

So, I had been on a Minsky's boycott for almost three years now, all because they really screwed up my rehearsal dinner (Main St. location) anyway, I decided that I really wanted to go back because they sent me a postcard for a free small pizza for my birthday and I'm a sucker for free stuff. So, my husband and I schlepped ourselves and our six month old baby to the Leawood location because it was closest to home. We get there, the hostess says "sit wherever" and i clearly have my hands full, I pick a booth and then have to go searching for a highchair/sling for the car seat, she then said, oh, did you want something for that? We felt compelled to order appetizers since we had a coupon for a free pizza. We ordered buffalo wings and spicy chicken bites (my husband was in charge of appetizers). The wings were a total joke, one of them was less than an inch long. I'm not kidding. The spicy chicken bites were chicken nuggets served with Franks Red Hot. Really horrible for $7. The pizza was great as usual which is why I gave them 3 stars. Also, perhaps if we were writing a letter of recommendation for med school for the server the way the booth behind us was we would have gotten the same service they did. It's too bad it took 20 minutes to get some refills on tea. We'll go back, but not to Leawood and never for appetizers.

A favorite of mine while there on my 5 week business trip! We would go at least once a week, sometimes twice. Awe, I miss Misky's. They have the best meatball sub that I've had in a long time (hence the 4 stars)! The meatball is filled with flavor, and filled with marinara sauce and nice and cheesy. The French bread was toasted to perfection. Service is great. I'd always go with a lunch group and they were quick to serve us to ensure we weren't away from the office too long. They have great daily lunch specials which includes a side salad, breadstick and a decent size pizza and a drink (no beer since we were at lunch ) Their best pizza I had was the Bacon Cheeseburger. Sounds interesting, but very good! I went there once for dinner, and their pizza was average and their service was a little slower, so I had to drop a star. Beer on tap who can go wrong with that!

What? This is NOT authentic Italian pizza or pasta?? Its like an Irish, American Pollock attempting to make Italian food. Huh? Has anyone in KC ever been to NY and had real Italian food? This is not it!
