This my new go to spot when I am eating lunch off base. Try the seafood soup, you will not be disappointed. The price is not to expensive and the food is excellent. That it is a family run establishment is what probably makes it so good.

I went to Family Bistro with some coworkers for lunch. It's not the nicest atmosphere, but don't let that dissuade you, the food is pretty good. I would definitely recommend the croque madame with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was great, and the fries were even better. Great portion size, too... Not that big, but not too small either, perfect for lunch!

This place is my new favorite go to restaurant in Leavenworth. I came based on a locals recommendation and was very surprised. They have a pretty extensive breakfast and lunch menu, as well as daily specials. We all (5 of us) decided to go with the prime rib sandwich special and sweet potato fries. The food came out relatively quick, and although not quite what I expected, it was delicious. If you like sweet stuff, get the sweet potato fries! Both the regular and sweet potato are fresh cut. I was then told you must get the bread pudding..ok, why not. Oh my god..this is the best bread pudding I ave ever tried!! It is really sweet with a touch of bourbon. Not sure if this is the norm, but when you get a soft drink, the refills are poured from a 20 oz bottle. When we were done, the owner/chef came out and asked us how everything was. THat was a great touch and I'm glad to see people still care. A must try!

Came in for a late lunch. Place is small but packed. Sat ourselves down because staff was slammed. A family left because they were overlooked. Food however was all deliciously homemade. We enjoyed every plate from appetizer to dessert. Our waitress was friendly, and so was the chef after all orders were made. Will come again, but at a better time when they are not too busy.

Worst service I have ever experienced. Dont know if the food was good or not because after sitting for so long and no one waiting on us, we left. I did go up and ask if there was a trick to getting serviced and the lady was extremely rude. Walked over to pullmans. Much better experience. New to town. Family bistro didn't not leave a good impression.

Great bistro style restaurant--highly recommended! Specials are always worth a try. Steak bernaise is excellent--also try the turkey caprese sandwich. Most everything is made from scratch.

Great lunch spot! The service was friendly and attentive. The menu had breakfast items (served until 11AM), as well as lunch. There are several salads and sandwiches to choose from. I had the steak sandwich and sweet potato fries (so good). The steak was seasoned well and smothered with delicious cheese and onion and tomato. My colleague had a turkey sandwich that looked divine. I strongly suggest stopping by to check this place out! As a sidenote, the waitress was very accomodating when I asked for my sandwich sans bread.

I went to Family Bistro today for breakfast. I ordered the 'SOS - Steak on Shingle" which is tenderloin medallions and eggs on a ciabatta with white gravy (béchamel sauce). I was disappointed that the steak tasted as though the seasoning were pre-packaged, perhaps something akin to Spike; I was hoping for an original seasoning. The medallions were perfectly cooked to a medium though, something that is not easy to do with thinner slices of meat. Except for the steak the rest of the entrée could have used a bit more seasoning. It was served with red potatoes on the side. They were well seasoned and not over-cooked. There were only a few people in there, so the service was excellent. I would be curious to see what service is like if they are full, though I have no reason to think it would be otherwise. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it 7. There is one caveat I would give potential diners. Do not sit at one of the tables near the toilet. Apparently there is no exhaust fan, or it was not working; nor does there appear to be an air freshener device. When someone goes in or out, you know it.

Pleasantly surprised at this small little bistro in downtown Leavenworth. Turkey caprese and chicken salad sandwiches were both superb. The sweet potato fries with praline sauce were a sweet treat. Everything was fresh and delicious. I hope this little bistro does well enough they can afford a nicer location because they deserve it! (Only 5 stars because the restroom could be better and decor leaves a little to be desired).

Yummy!! We had the Turkey Caprese, Hawaiian pulled porksandwich and Bread Pudding! Oh how I wish this place was closer to home! Homecooking at its best! Must eat there!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
