Very good restaurant. I had the tempura chicken and it tasted very good with an excellent presentation. I also had an order of Gyoza which was very tasty but a little smaller than I was used to in Japan. The other people with me got more traditional sushi rolls and they enjoyed them. I would definetly recommend this place to a friend.

Great place for a lunch bento box that comes with sushi, tempura, meat, and salad. Plenty of food for under $10. Maybe change up the rock-n-roll big screen TVs on repeat of 1990s concerts and add a little more light for pleasant lunchtime conversation?

Best Sushi and Pho around!!! I was so surprised at the quality...you will not be disappointed!!!

Outstanding. The atmosphere is a small family own resturant and the food is awsome. Lived for many years on the coast with fresh seafood and a large asian community with wonderful sushi bars, and none compare. My spouse, who severed many years in Asian countries, commented that Osaka rivals the overseas resturants. This is one of the best in the KC aera.

As as surprise, my family took me to Osaka a few days before my birthday. The surprise was two-fold: getting sushi in Leavenworth, and getting GREAT sushi. In Leavenworth! I had the Boyfriend roll, which was delicious. Husband had two California Rolls and Kansas Roll. Daughter had California Roll, and son filled up on Tempura shrimp. It was all very good, but rather pricey. Even a bit higher than Styx down at Legend's. I'd rather spend money at a locally-owned place, though. Yes, the place looks rundown. Yes, it's small. Yes, some of the sushi rolls on offer are more Americanized than you might expect. It's still delicious, and it's still wonderful having this option here in town! We recommend this place to all of our friends, including those who're just visiting Leavenworth, and every one of them has declared it a winner.

The service was good, my server, a young friendly boy was very prompt and friendly. I had the shrimp and vegetable tempura bento box, one of the lunch specials. The tempura was good, not over fried although I didn't like the fried broccoli because it's a vegetable I don't eat willingly. The box came with a small portion of salad, miso soup and a piece of orange. What i really like is the sushi that came with the bento box with a piece of avocado in each. Second time I had the Sushi bento box. The portion is huge. Five pieces of assorted sushi, a generous serving of Cali maki, salad, miso soup, etc. Reasonably priced too. About $9 before tips. The decor is simple and homely, with Japanese "umbrellas" mounted on the walls of the restaurants to evoke a feel of the "far east", but a framed calligraphy of Korean words was a giveaway that the place is not run by any Japanese, not that it matters.

A Delightfully Taste of Asia... The staff is Korea, so maybe they should have named it Osan... ;) I had a little of everything, the menu has all of your favorites from Korea & Japan. I had Miso, Goyza, Tuna Sashimi, & Galbi. Everything was great. I will definitely be comin back to get my Hangul on...

Surprising to find such good sushi in Kansas. I've been here twice and each meal was great. The service is friendly and quick. It's on our short list for best restaurants in the area. Being from California, I've been fortunate to have some of the best sushi available. Osaka doesn't compare to the best of California, but it certainly is far better than the sushi I've had traveling throughout the rest of the US. Osaka doesn't currently have a liquor license. So bring your own if you'd like to enjoy some beer or sake while there.

First time I ate here I wasn't to impressed with the lunch special. I tried them again to see if the sushi was any better when a specialty roll was ordered. It ended up being pretty good. The roll was around 10 for 6 pieces which I wasn't to excited about bu the roll was amazing. I would eat here again. The pho is pretty good as well.

Went in for take out abd was greeted with friendly service. Most of the menu consisted of sushi type items. There are a few familiar korean choices such as bulgogi. There is also pho. I do not know much about pho but my wife does and says it's legit. She prefers it to the actually pho place in town. Personally, I had a spicy chicken bento box and spicy tuna sushi roll, both of which were delicious. I will definitely eat here again abd recommend it to those that wild like something other than American fast food.

Love this place. Fresh sushi and when waiting to pick up take out they always offer salad and soup while you wait...no charge. Great service and very friendly staff. Family atmosphere.

Definitely check this place out if you are in town! I am quite picky about my sushi and this place hit the spot. Sit at the sushi bar and the Japanese chef/owner will take care of you! Bring some cash for tipping! The 'gangham style' roll was top notch! Jalapeño popper appetizer called the 'Heart Attack' were spicy and yummy! We also had the 'Hawaiian Roll' which was also Delish! The place was clean and the fish was fresh! My only small complaint is... I ordered a Pinot Grigio and it was extremely cold! Too cold. But I did guzzle it :) I also ordered a merlot and it was perfect temp! We had a sweet server that was very attentive! We went on a Friday evening and had no wait. Please don't let the outside neighborhood scare you off. It would have to me but I needed my sushi fix while visiting my hubs at Leavenworth.. Not the prison, the military base. He really enjoyed the sushi rolls too! The gangham style roll is huge! Piled high! If I ever have to come back to Fort Leavenworth, I will be dining here everyday to tryout all the rolls! I am so bummed I didn't go here until my second to last day of my week visit! I missed out!

WHAT A WONDERFUL SURPRISE IN LEAVENWORTH!!! Love love love. I came here based on friends reviews and I must say I should have visited months ago. I came here for lunch for their specials, and although it didn't seem much of a special price I enjoyed every bit of the meal. I got the bento box, teriyaki chicken for about $9. Comes with miso soup and salad. The miso soup was not too salty at all and was very hot. The salad didn't seem to have much of dressing but it was actually enough to taste and enjoy. The bento box was very filling if you are on a portion control diet lol. The tempura had a special piece that was calamari, oh yes I love that too thanks. The chicken was soo good and the California rolls was tasty too and I usually hate fake crab rolls. My husband had the 2 rolls for 12.99 miso and salad. He ate everything, so I guess it was great. I can't wait to come back. Staff absolutely friendly and welcoming. The outside of the place does not do it any justice, give it a chance.

My wife is very finicky about sushi but she really enjoyed this place. Good prices and friendly staff.

Don't judge the book by its cover! From the outside this place doesn't look like much. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. The salmon, avocado, tempura shrimp, and cream cheese roll was really good. Teriyaki chicken was extremely tasty as well. Great place if you're looking for sushi!

Whoever said don't judge a book by its cover could have been referring to Osaka! Who would expect to find great Japanese food and sushi in Leavenworth, Kansas. But everyone who eats here ends up recommending it to others. While it's not much to look at from the street (and not too fancy on the inside either) this Japanese restaurant and sushi bar serves good food at a really fair price. I should be embarrassed to admit I've eaten lunch AND dinner here before as well as gone back two days in a row. The sushi is surprisingly fresh and satisfying in size. Really can't think to too much to complain about! The service is friendly though varies in efficiency. With Asian food I prefer the basic, less exotic fare for the most part. Not to say I haven't tried some seemingly crazy dishes but I don't need a lot of dressing up to satisfy my tastes. That may be why I'm a fan of Osaka.

Not a place to go if you are in a hurry. But the sushi is really good and the bulgogi is the best I have had since we left Fort Riley, KS. I really like the owners they are very friendly. Leavenworth is lucky to have this cute little spot!

Way better than Ichiban. The sushi is fresh, the pho is awesome and the staff is friendly. They have some korean/Japanese/Vietnamese food on their menu. Lunch is pretty quiet from opening (1100) to about noon.. which is when the main lunch crowd hits. The evening time is a bit crowded and sometimes they only have one waitress so you'll have to be a little patient. Overall though.. it's really good and I'll be coming back.

We found our sushi spot! My husband and I are moving here in July and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get good sushi. Okay, no, this place isn't anything special to look at, but their food is so fresh and artfully made, who cares? Our server was very polite, efficient, and super friendly. Oh, and absolutely NO wait. We got the samurai roll, gangnum style roll, and the super spider roll. They were all so delicious and fresh! I can't wait to go back and try more menu items.

Don't let the outside of the building or the decor inside fool you. The sushi was very good and the service was friendly. My husband and I will be back. I was a little disappointed in the wine offerings, but no big deal. The Rainbow Roll, the spider roll and the spicy tuna tempura were all very tasty. The egg rolls were the best we've had in a long time. The only thing I didn't prefer was the salad dressing, we were both looking forward to the ginger dressing and we got something white instead, it tasted like low-fat ranch. Either way, we went for sushi and it was great, they didn't get carried away with the cream cheese like a lot of places do. They also have Pho and we are looking forward to trying that next time.

Okay, so i admit, this place.. From the outside is uber sketchy... But I promise, you won't be disappointed ( if you love sushi)! Now don't judge this place on its Ambiance, because its definitely not getting 5 stars for its wood paneling, but their sushi rivals any "big city" ( Nashville, Pittsburgh, Philly, NYC) sushi I've eating! Stop buying your sushi at the commissary, and give this place a try! ( and bring the kids, because they've got a wide array of non sushi choices on the menu! ) If your looking for posh and swanky, go to KC, if your looking to get your sushi fix, it's a MUST try!

Very friendly people! On my way from northern Minnessota back home to Houston I stopped at a job just outside Leavenworth. This quality of sushi was not expected. I'd definately remember to stop by next time.

Osaka is a welcome addition to the Leavenworth area food scene. It is conveniently located right off post. The staff is very friendly and the food is quite good. I have only been there once for lunch and ordered the sushi combination. It comes with Miso soup and a salad, and is priced right and comes out very quickly. Definitely a must try if you are in the area.

I ate here a few months after it opened and right before I moved to Austin. I wish I had gotten more chances to eat here because their sushi was delicious. I can not remember the name of the roll, but it had barbecue sauce drizzled on it and it was one of the best sushi rolls I have ever had - and I have eaten a LOT of good sushi here in Austin. Osaka is a gem in Leavenworth, and while it may be a little overpriced for the town ($10-$20), it certainly delivers. * The staff that works there is very friendly and the decor is nice for a restaurant in Leavenworth. Verdict: Eat at Osaka if you want delicious sushi and do not mind paying around $15.00.

Disappointing lunch specials. The sushi in the lunch specials seemed on par with a basic Chinese buffet. I may try it again, but am not in a rush to do so.

Sorry, but you can't smooth over mediocre sushi the way you can a decent Mexican place. This place isn' t a whole in the wall, it's just run down. Fish no fresh = meh...... The miso soup was lame......THE MISO SOUP! It's powder....and water.....how can this be watered down?

Delicious pho, miso soup and fried rice. Lots of things we still have to go back and try. the sushi rolls are huge! one is probably enough. Service was excellent and we really liked how fresh the salad and vegetables were in all our meals. We will absolutely be back. Great family restaurant!

Excellent sushi tucked away in Leavenworth. So lucky they are here. Plates are huge and prices reasonable. And the Thai tea is excellent too. Owners make authentic sauces. We have found our new favorite sushi place that is tucked away in Leavenworth.

Great sushi by a great chef! Good stuff. It's hard to find hand rolls on the U.S. Mainland. Who would think you could find them in Leavenworth, Kansas?

I had pho and my husband had spicy chicken bento. The restaurant was clean and welcoming. Both dishes were delicious and price wasn't expensive at all. I'll definitely come back and try different menu.

A friend who knew what I enjoyed recommended Osaka. While the prices were a bit high considering what I was used to back in North Carolina, I will say the food was quality. The portions are large and everything is freshly made. The Miso was good but my friend had two frozen peices of fish which was a bit surprising. The wait staff was extremely friendly, and the atmosphere was very accomidating. I'd go back again.

This is a hole in the wall restaurant, but don't judge a book by its cover! I loved it and I'll be going back. I got the "Delicate" roll and practically inhaled it, it was so good! Great service as well! Definatley worth a try (or two or three).
