I always like eating here. Steaks are good. Prime rib is even better. I even like the soups. You want beef in Leavenworth its the place to eat. Only downfall is it's a small place so it gets full fast.

If you are visiting Leavenworth this restaurant would be good for a day trip. It is across from the penitentiary and while you sit inside and on the big back deck you can see Buffalo grazing. That's a first for me! It's clean and the workers are friendly. They could improve their salad. The steak soup with stout was very good. I liked the chicken alfredo.

I really love this place. The hot bacon spinach salad is amazing. My husband's filet was perfectly cooked and tender. But my prime rib was very awful. The parts I could eat were very tough. The rest of it was totally inedible. It was full of fat and I couldn't even cut a piece that I didn't have to spit out. I just couldn't chew it. I gave it 4 stars though because the steak and salad were the bomb. And the beer is ice cold. I'll return for sure. I just won't get prime rib.

Stopped at the Metropolitan for a bite to eat while on a work business trip. Found this to be a great little steakhouse in Leavenworth. Large portions and very good prices. Both the sirloin special and the chicken were very good and came with a large side salad or soup for about $12. There are several food options (meat, pasta, salads, seafood, etc). Will definitely be returning during my stay. Very friendly staff!!

This is one of the best places in Leavenworth. The food is good, it's close, and they give huge portions. Good kids menus. Casual dining at it's best. The warm bacon spinach salad is really good. Steaks are the best we've found in town as well.

Great food and great service. My drink was always full and the waitress was cheerful and have good input on recommendations. Steak was a little more charred than I like it but it didn't ruin the experience. I didn't like the condiments being piled on my food. I will come here to eat again and I would recommend this restaurant to others.

Great locally owned place right on the north end of town. Prices are fair, nothing on the menu isn't great. Try the steak soup you'll have none better in life. Music on the deck on the weekends. Place had a bad fire couple of years back and they really seized the opportunity to renovate. Definitely worth eating here...plus, it's Leavenworth...can you really find someplace better if you tried?

Was at your establishment last to celebrate my son's birthday. Ordered your pork chop meal and got fried ham instead! It was good ham but I didn't order ham. My son ordered buffalo burger and it was over cooked to the point that it had no flavor at all. Sorry but I don't think we'll be back.

Came in for late lunch/early dinner on a Saturday. We were the only other couple in house. First off: this place has a little identity crisis. 'Metropolitan Steakhouse' conveys a classier, somewhat more svelte idea that this more 'roadhouse'-type grill. The interior is real country and homey, but not a steakhouse as I would define one! I ordered the KC 10oz strip, med-well, and hubby got the seafood ravioli. Mine came with a salad which, although fresh, came with two cartons of dressing sitting right smack on top of the salad leaves. I expect that from McDonald's, not a sit-down restaurant! Hubby got clam chowder which was good. My steak was overcooked (definitely more of a well well done!), veggies were overcooked and very greasy. Mashed potatoes were yummy, and so was the gravy and Texas toast. Hubby's pasta was definitely not made 'in-house': for ravioli made from scallops, shrimp and lobster you could taste the imitation seafood flavor right away. Thick, gloppy alfredo, too much cheese. Also his tummy really bothered him later on... yikes! It wasn't put-down-your-fork-awful, but for the prices we frankly expected more. I've had better steaks and pastas at Appleby's for half the price. I don't regret that we went, but we will not be going back. Which is too bad, because I really wanted to like this cute little Mom'n'Pop place... oh well.

Not really sure I would call this a steakhouse. This is a great place to come for lunch if you are in Leavenworth. Great service, food and view of Buffalo. I would recommend the Sweet Potato fries and the Buffalo chicken sandwich with blue cheese.

This used to be a decent restaurant, but my last couple of visits have been highly disappointing. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries and they gave me about 10 burnt, undone fries with a dry, tasteless burger. They used to have very nice steak fries, but they changed them to these hideous awful fries which for some reason, they are stingy about giving. I can't eat a good sized burgers with 10 fries. It's ridiculous! Their food quality is heading downhill very quickly. I'm very disappointed. My family and I will never return.

Great food, great selection of beer and great service. Best place for a steak in town!!! Have a seat on the back deck and enjoy the evening.

Great staff, awesome food, friendly atmosphere, and decent prices. Portion sizes are always bigger than one can eat, I suggest sharing. We enjoy going and taking advantage of the nightly specials and saving room for something sweet for dessert - just order early when busy b/c they will run out :-(

I guess I've gotten spoiled on basic burgers and fries, so the Metropolitan doesn't really do it for me. I have only been here for lunch, so no idea about their steaks, and dinners. Their back patio is nice and they have a great view of the penitentiary and the buffalo so that is cool. As for the food and the drinks, its standard, nothing bad, yet not the place to take Mom for her first great meal the day she gets out of prison. (Especially if its raining!)

The Metropolitan is an exceptional little steak house. I see it as a cross betwee Short Cakes in Stillwater, OK, Meers, and Big Chef in Lawton, OK. They can provide you with greasy spoon dinners as well as quality steaks at very reasonable prices. I recently had a 16 oz. KC strip that I couldn't finish which is a very rare thing. I definately recommend this place for very good meals and family dining. Be warned they are not open on Sundays.
