Shrimp Po boy and the gumbo is my favorite! Always so good! I need to try more of the menu. Hush puppies remind me of my childhood.

If your're looking for some good cajun food you are in luck! We had the shrimp po boy, oyster po boy, bacon potato soup, gumbo and seasoned fries, everything was excellent! Enjoy! We will be back to try the gator po boy next!

First, you'll want to try the Ooey-gooey Chocolate Bar. Before that, any of the excellent, pretty-close-to-the-real-thing New Orleans cuisine options will suit you just fine. Any of the po'boys, with a cup of gumbo? It's like a trip to the Big Easy. Yes, the interior is small, but the place never seems to be crowded enough to matter, and there's always the outdoor seating on the rare day Lawrence weather will allow for it. No alcohol options as far as I could tell, so it's not 100% authentic to New Orleans, but another bite of the food and you'll start thinking about opening your own drive-thru daiquiri stop. Full stop, there's no place in Lawrence like this.

I didn't find out about this place until after I moved away and that is so sad! The food was all amazing and I wish I could try all the daily specials. The hush puppies were the best I ever had as were the po boys. The staff is incredibly nice and friendly as well. I will definitely be back and Id recommend to anyone.

An extra star for the hushpuppies!!! Big spheres (2-3 inches in diameter) of cornmeal (with bits of corn inside, too for some nice texture) deep fried with a slightly spicy batter are bound to make your day, just like they did mine. Oh and did I mention they're dirt cheap? A small order is only $1.50. You have no excuses now! (FYI, the gumbo remains at 3 stars - I appreciate the use of a dark roux but it lacked smoke and seafood flavor and I think I may have detected a bit of corn starch as thickener...oh well. Back to the hushpuppies!)

I had been meaning to try Terrebonne for some time, but I try not to eat fast food and sandwiches that often, just never having gotten around to going there. My Yelp friend Scott T and I decided to get together for lunch, trying the relatively new Taco Stand on 8th Street. However, when we arrived the door was locked and the lights off ... they are closed on Mondays! So, we headed over to Terrebonne. The place is quaint with a chalkboard menu on the wall, a few small 1950's diner-style tables and chairs inside and more tables outside if you are the type that enjoys Lawrence's steamy summer days. You order from the counter, pay, and they bring your order to your table. The guy at the counter was not particularly friendly, not rude, but he did not go out of his way to make us feel welcome being my first visit. The reuben and cheesesteak both sounded good, but being my first time and a NOLA/Cajun/Creole-style establishment, I decided to go with their signature po'boy ($7). I ordered the catfish po'boy with all the trimmings and Scott got the alligator po'boy and an order of red beans and rice. About 15 minutes later our order arrived. The bread, about eight inches worth, was fresh, lightly toasted on the outside and soft inside. The catfish breading was not as light and flaky or as spicy as I would expect from a Cajun restaurant, but it was "OK". There were several small pieces of fish rather than one long fillet, making the sandwich difficult to eat and forcing me to have to put the pieces back in the sandwich as they inevitably fell out over and over again. The fish was decent, but a few pieces were uncharacteristically "fishy" tasting, a taste I try to avoid and one of the main reasons I do not order fish in the Midwest. The lettuce and tomato rounded out the po'boy nicely, but I must admit that I was a bit disappointed overall by the sandwich and its price. A $7 sandwich should impress and fill you, neither of which occurred on this occasion. By the time you order a sandwich, a side, and a drink, you are looking at a $12-$14 tab, a tad high for lunch at a sandwich place in my opinion. CombatCritic Gives Terrebonne Po'Boys 5 Out Of 10 Bombs ... Bombs Are Good In This Case!

Very good creole-type diner. A little oily, but extremely flavorful. The staff is friendly and the wait wasn't too long. If you like Cajun spice this place has a great jambalaya. And enjoy the mildly spicy Cajun fries.

  • IReallyLikeKC I.

I had jambalaya and my wife had a catfish sandwich. Both were good. I would have preferred more Cajun like heat in mine. The service was fast and friendly.

So excited to find a little Cajun in Lawrence!

  • Michele I.

After reading numerous positive reviews on Yelp, we were excited to dine at Terrebonne. The shrimp po' boy was phenomenal- tender fried shrimp served between a fresh loaf of French bread. The Cajun fries were flavorful. The red beans and rice were okay, but adding andouille sausage was the ticket. Seating is limited and no A/C but the location has character!

Terrabonne is SO GOOD!! A little tiny place next door to Great Harvest Bread Co... I can not say enough delicious things about this place--- this was my first visit, but definitely not my last. In fact, it has been added to my "favorite/must-go-to Lawrence restaurants"! I had a catfish po'boy, okra, and a can of soda.... The bread was so chewy & delicious and the fish was cooked perfectly and accompanied with the right amount of toppings. It was a nice size sandwich, that was really enough for 2 meals. The okra came in a plentiful heap and was fried to crispy perfection. They have a few tables outside-- perfect for lovely Lawrence weather! ....I hear good things about the gumbo and the shrimp po boy- something to look forward to on my next trip!

Wow...this is a nice find....a great Cajun/creole-style restaurant, smack in the middle of Lawrence, Kansas. Whatever else you decide on...for SURE get a po' boy sandwich....I highly recommend the shrimp one! Yum. I can also recommend the fried okra, the hush puppies and the collards. The only food I was vaguely disappointed in was the Wasabi Deviled Eggs...they needed a bit more flavor. And my 7 year old great-niece (who is a budding chef) made the spot-on observation that everything they fried or grilled was just a little too browned (the hush puppies....the kid's grilled cheese...the kid's puppy dogs). But, even given that, it was a pretty fabulous meal. Be warned, though....there isn't a lot of seating....so if you want to eat at the restaurant, get there early!

Cajun Cuban sandwich had flavorful meats and props to the owners for making their own bread. I only wish the bread wasn't quite so crunchy. Hush puppies with po boy dipping sauce were delicious. Fresh, light and quite large. There is a good selection of hot sauces and nice quirky ambience. Next time we want to try the chicken sandwich which looked really good.

This is a story about trust. This place blows me away every time I eat here. I haven't tried everything on the menu, but the kitchen crew here makes me wildly, desperately willing to do so. For Chrissakes, these guys had me eating okra willingly when it was included in their gumbo. They got diet conscious old guy me to order and gratefully inhale a corn dog (it was the delicious mustard sauce as much as the excellent corn dog). By serving up deliciousness they have engendered in my immortal soul a blind trust for the food they serve. It. Really. Tastes. Good. For reals. Just eat here. And bask in the glow. Amen. And desert. Because delicious also.

  • Veronica V.

Best Cajun food north of NOLA. If this tiny shop on the corner with seating in the alleyway doesn't makes you feel like you're eating the best poboy on Bourbon Street, then you'll need to make a 13 hour trip to New Orleans, itself, to find anything like this. If only they had some live saxophone.. Not the best place for vegetarians, however (unless you get the fantastic grilled cheese :))

One of if not my favorite joints in Lawrence. Catfish po boy every time. Fries and fried okra are great too. Amazing selection for the hot sauce connoisseurs as well. I love this place.

  • K B.

For what it is, this place is a 5-star experience. It's as if you've traveled to a small diner in the South, with Po' boys, collard greens, hush puppies and everything else you'd imagine. I'd say the pork "something" soup, the shrimp po' boy sandwich and the fried okra were the best. For $2, you'll get a "popcorn basket" of okra. As far as the service, we went there on 12/27 for lunch and the gal serving us at the register was a bit cold and will say "everything is amazing," which is a peeve of mine, since that's no more helpful than saying "everything is terrible." Nevertheless, if you're in Lawrence, I'd take this place for lunch, 715 for dinner and Ladybird for breakfast, although Lawrence still needs an amazing breakfast spot, since Ladybird is only worthy of 3 stars (I'll get to that review soon enough).

  • Kyron C.

Nothing special in my opinion. Po' boys seemed to be very simple sandwiches. Gumbo is decent, would have liked to more flavorful. It does not seem to be made fresh daily. Gumbo eel as actually burnt on one occasion, perhaps result of over stewing and reheating on stove. Very cute restaurant otherwise.

  • Melissa W.

Love, love, LOVE! The food here is amazing. My personal favorite is the grilled shrimp po'boy. The shrimp are always done perfectly, never over cooked. The seasoning is spot on. The service is excellent--always friendly and warm. The outside eating area is a sweet treat in warm weather. Go there. Go there now.

  • Rachel P.

OMG GIVE ME ALL THE REUBEN SANDWICHES! But really, the food is so well-made and comforting. The shop is small and can get crowded easily, so I would suggest getting your order to go. Definitely worth stopping by when you're downtown!

In a town full of good-but-not-great dining establishments ($8-12 dinner plates, filling but not incredible), Terrebonne quietly breaks the mold off 8th & Vermont. A step inside reveals seating for about 12-15 inside, a small order counter, a cooler full of treats, and a friendly staff working the kitchen. Their menu boasts po-boy sandwiches in a variety of proteins (I recommend the shrimp, but the oysters and all the others are plenty delicious as well), muffaletas, gumbo, and more. The sides are tasty, and my personal favorite is the enormous serving of fried okra for just $2. It's enough to share amongst four people, really. Their dessert bars are also a bargain, at about $1.35 each. I was recommended the peanut butter chocolate bar by the kind staff, and it is still my favorite of the ones that I have tried. To drink, they have soda cans and PBR ($2), as well as iced tea, I would assume. You'll want something cold and refreshing to help with your sampling from their vast range of hot sauces that they have on kind of a bookshelf setup. They even have outdoor seating! This combination of scrumptious, cajun comfort foods, good prices, prompt and friendly service, cute throwback decor, and patio dining is hard to top, especially here in Lawrence, KS.

Delicious! We ordered Saturday Lunch for our staff at work and it was awesome. Everyone loved their sandwiches. I had the gumbo which was amazing. We totally enjoyed our lunch. Thanks Terrebonne!

I love New Orleans food, and this was solid if not particularly amazing. Between two of us we had (for $20.92 incl. tax): - two deviled eggs (i.e. 2 halves): I like the spice/pepper in the mix, although not as creamy as my personal preference, and I could do without the pickle bits (not bad, just not necessary for me). - fried okra: pretty standard, but I love okra, and only $2 for a sizeable basket - grilled shrimp po' boy: the grilled shrimp was excellent; bread/dressing ok (not that it's any better in New Orleans) - gumbo: the roux wasn't that rich, but definitely flavorful, and the crawfish/okra/etc. are plentiful - hushpuppies (come w/ gumbo): relatively big, so the outside is quite fried/crunchy (it's pretty dark brown) but the inside is still moist - hot sauces: they have 40(?) different types you can use, pretty fun (to me) - the cross-stitch(?) stuff on the wall: pretty cool (to me), and I liked the 3D elements I haven't tried the gumbo at Free State (or elsewhere) to compare, but Terrebonne satisfied my gumbo and okra desire. If you're just visiting and live somewhere w/ really good New Orleans food, though, you might be happier elsewhere.

Absolutely amazing! My partner and I were starving after spending the morning working and decided to pick up some po boys to go. We both had shrimp po boys and split hush puppies and okra (I said we were hungry, right?). Everything was spectacular. The bread was light and soft, the combination of shrimp, tomatoes, onions, sauce, and lettuce provided the perfect combination of flavors with no one taste dominating the rest. The fried okra was some of the best I've ever tasted and the hush puppies are almost the size of my fist. We took our food to go which was probably a good call since the limited seating is, well, cozy to say the least. We will certainly be back sooner rather than later.

Great little spot for lunch! Everything is cooked fresh and who doesn't like hush puppies? Last time I was there, I had a green tomato po boy. Yum!

Oh my gosh. This place is good. It's kind of a whole in the wall place that you may not think about frequenting, but boy is it worth coming into. It took a while for me to decide between the po-boy and a muffaletta, and finally chose the po-boy after the owner said they do not make their own olive salad. So, we ordered a shrimp po-boy, a gator po-boy, two deviled eggs, and a small order of hushpuppies (see pics). The deviled eggs were fine. Nothing to write home about. The po-boys were fabulous. They came on a good-sized, soft but chewy roll, fully dressed (sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion). The sauce was a yummy, creamy hot saucy concoction. The gator was well cooked - crispy and flavorful. The shrimp was lightly breaded and fried until crisp. The hushpuppies were awesome. I usually don't love hushpuppies, but I looooved these. They were huge - between the size of a golf and tennis ball. And we got 4! Only for $1.50! They were perfectly fried so that they were dark and crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. They were very flavorful and I didn't even feel like I needed to dip them in anything! For dessert, we got the buttermilky-caramely bar (I forgot what it was called!). Yum. I'm excited to try some of the other menu items and will be back soon!

Great cajun food. Wife and I stopped here before a KU game. As a fan of cajun food I can't believe I hadn't come here before. Top notch Po' boys, Jamblaya was packed with shrimp, chicken and sausage, very good hush puppies. Service was very friendly and quick, price was very reasonable. Nice selection of hot sauces too. A lot of times you only have one or two choices but Terrebonne had just about every sauce I have ever seen on a restaurant table in New Orleans or anywhere else for that matter. We will definitely be back.

I've had every po' boy on the menu and they're all great. Shrimp is my go to but I alternate with the oyster which is rich and delicious. I've inly had a couple of their deserts and they were also delicious.

For a local sandwich joint, you can't beat it. Great food, affordable, and unique character. Their fried shrimp po' boy is consistently good, and their Cajun Cuban sandwich (a special offering) is one of the tastiest pork-based sandwiches I have ever had. It's not New Orleans, but for Kansas, this is probably the closest you'll get.

  • Rachel B.

After reading all of the raving reviews on Yelp, I expected to be blown away by this place. It was nothing to write home about. Having been to New Orleans and experienced several versions of authentic Po Boys, I can validate that what is being served here is just a sandwich with some fried meat on it. The sauce is off as well, I think there might be wasabi in it? It did not taste right. Everything was underseasoned, the hush puppies were basically cornbread balls with no flavor. Not impressed and will not return.

Po Boys, gators, hush puppies. Om nom nom! This restaurant is pretty hidden from the downtown scene because of its size but you can't go wrong here!

I've driven by this tiny sliver of a restaurant so many times I can't count, and noticing they have a strong following on Yelp I decided to stop and grab some carry-out for a late lunch today. Now, I don't profess to know a thing about authentic Cajun food which this proclaims to be, and I've never been to Louisiana, but I do know good food when I taste it, and this *is* very good comfort food. You can't help but giggle over the interior decor with the dated needlepoint collection hanging about, the mis-matched 60s tables and chairs and equally odd, random salt and pepper shakers on each table, all different. Love it. Service was quick and pleasant. I walked out with a crawfish Po' Boy and a side of red beans and rice for $10 - not unreasonable. The sandwich was just terrific and just about what I expected which was fried goodies with some dressing and possible veggies on a nice bun. Terrific. The red beans and rice were tasty, not overly seasoned nor as heavy as I anticipated but no complaints. Ran into some good friends there who are regulars and they confirmed the solid standing of Terrebonne. I'm headed back next time a meal out calls. Hear the hush puppies are to die for and the muffaletta to go with it will be mine next time around. Promise a follow-up.

FINALLY!@%%@! A place in these parts "gets it"! After months of procrastination I finally ventured into Terrebonne a couple times this past week. As the norm, when you put off trying something new it usually surprises with good food and service. Places that are over-hyped and you rush out to visit often times disappoint. Well, let me say I was pleasantly surprised on both visits to Terrebonne. One of the downtown 2 hour free parking lots sits directly across the street so no excuse there. The place is the size of most studio or 1 bedroom apartments. I counted four tables and 12 chairs total. No other way of squeezing a few more in there. Will not happen! Yes, the interior is a bit eclectic to say the least. But isn't everything in New Orleans a little over the top/ aka eccentric anyhow? Grab a paper menu and look it over. Pretty straight forward and not too long. Fits on one page and trust me, that's plenty. Rather have a small menu with excellent food than some monstrosity with a hundred items that the chef pulls out of the freezer and drops in the microwave or fryer. The young lady at counter one of the days was fabulous. Genuine friendly attitude and she truly enjoys her job. Remarkedly, I had never tasted craw fish tails. When she found out I immediately received a small sample and knew my dish was found. I ordered the Gumbo with andouille sausage, chicken, tails, okra, rice, and a mouth watering roux/gravy that is to die for. Came with two giant hush puppies that reminded me of southern "hot water corn bread". Crunchy on outside and pancake smooth on the inside with bits of sweet corn and onion. No freaking grease was left on my napkin.....Are you serious! How is that even possible? Had the andouille sausage po' boy and fries on a different occasion. Again, no complaints. I love bread and they serve excellent po boy bread. Not a big fan of Cajun seasoning on my french fries. Not bad, but I prefer them without. There is no soda machine, so go with water or canned soda's. No biggie. Looking forward to going back and trying the red beans and rice with andoullie. Jambalaya smelled great. Maybe try the catfish also. I need to pace myself here and will try again in a couple weeks. Oh, price wise; not the cheapest joint in town but you get what you pay for as the saying goes. Average check should run you $8-$12. Knock on wood.......but I don't get sick much. But if you do, forget the canned soups and Panera's of the world. This place has that homemade bothy concoctions that will ease the aches/calm the guts on a cold dreary day. It's said that Terrabonne is a wonderful cure for the hang-overs. (I don't drink alcohol, so have no way of attesting this statement) This place is a true hidden gem in Lawrence Kansas. All the Cajun places in KC could learn a lesson or two from Terrabonne. Not about quantity and gimmicky marketing. It's all about the quality and attention to every little detail of fine down home southern cooking with fresh ingredients. Standing ovation Terrabonne. You may need to relocate one day, but please............I beg you not to change what your doing!

I found this hidden gem my senior year at KU, and was amazed that the midwest could cook cajun food! Every po boy I have tired has been fantastic, and OMG the sauce is delicious. Get the cajun fries too. It is authentic tasty cajun food outside of Louisana. So happy to see this place is still in business, and has a following.

Stopped into this quaint little hole-in-the-wall eatery twice. Once with my very finicky 14 year old and the other time by myself (just recently). First time we had sandwiches and I had a cup of gumbo. All of the entrees are homemade. The place is very tiny but there are several tables w/ chairs. Very kitchy-- cute. My son really enjoyed the food and has asked to go back. I liked the gumbo so much, I had to go back on Mardi Gras just to get a big bowl of it. My only complaint is if you go in there when the weather is cold, be prepared to be cold while sitting and dining too. The place is so small, whenever anyone opens the door, it lets the outside in and there is no place you can seat yourself to get away from the frigid draft.

  • Christina J.

Love to get carryout from these guys! It's kind of a small menu but everything's good so I dont have just one favorite there...but try the crab cake Po' boy for sure! Greg and his staff are always friendly, and the food is consistant (and tasty) every time I go there. Small space so I don't usually "dine-in"(carryout is in their name) but that may change since they're selling PBR now :)

I've lived in Lawrence for nearly 10 years and I'm embarrassed to say I have never set foot in this place until yesterday. After being told twice in the past week that this place was awesome, I had to try it! We went for lunch and sat outside on their lovely patio, enjoying Lawrence's first 80 degree day of the year. We ordered a shrimp po'boy add cheddar, and the pulled pork po'boy that was on special, add slaw. Also got a side of fries and hush puppies because I read they were excellent. Holy cow, we only needed 1 sandwich! It was sooo much food. The shrimp po'boy was delicious. Great bread, good seasoned, crispy shrimp, sauce, onions, lettuce and tomato (which I pulled off, tomatoes are so gross this time of year). I could only eat half of it but I wanted to eat the whole thing! The pulled pork po'boy with slaw was also very good. I only had a bite of that one, but enjoyed it. And hush puppies? Oh my god, delicious. And huge, too! They were crispy on the outside and fluffy, sweet and spicy on the inside. No dipping sauce needed. This will now definitely make it into our lunch rotation.

I was very excited to try this but a a bit disappointed. My friend and I stopped in for shrimp po'boys, coleslaw and hush puppies. The shrimp was heavily breaded and over cooked. Not like the lightly breaded shrimp you'd get in the south. The coleslaw had onion and peppers, which didn't add any flavor it's was bland. The only thing that really tasted authentic was the hush puppies, they were very good! My friend and I couldn't finished them (the large order had six). My friend who is from New Orleans was very happy to see Zapps Potato Chips. So if you are going for authentic, maybe this isn't the place. But the food is good and the price is extremely affordable.

Terrebonne just another one of those wannabe shops that really anger native-born Cajuns and Creole folks (just like yours truly). There's one thing though that separates them from the rest: They actually make a REALLY good po' boy. The French bread used is always key on a po' boy. I would have to say that theirs is actually the best outside of Louisiana and Texas. I of course went for the benchmark of all sandwiches, the shrimp po' boy. The shrimp was decent in size and fried to perfection. The seasoning used was also pretty awesome. There were however drawbacks (just like all Louisiana kitchens outside of Louisiana do . . . .) The bread was not long enough and the shrimp not plentiful. I also was not crazy about the "zesty" sauce they used instead of plain traditional light mayo. I'm from the River Parishes, so I'm used to "Overstuffed Po' Boys". Basically I'm used to seeing so much shrimp fall out of French bread you can make another sandwich. Knowing ahead of time I was going to be disappointed with any shrimp portions, I asked how much it would cost for extra shrimp in which they charged me $4.00 taking the sandwich to about $12.00 if i remember correctly. In short, go here expecting an above-average po' boy. Don't expect however to walk out some po' boy expert or connoisseur. The Cajun Stop in Boutte LA is for that . . . .

I work across the street and eat here at least once a week. Terrebonne is: simple, tasty, homemade, affordable, satisfying food. I have tried the shrimp po'boy, catfish po'boy, andouille po'boy, chicken salad sandwich (has almonds in it for crunch, so good), turkey club, gumbo, jambalaya, and the reuben. All but the reuben were great! The corned beef was cut too thickly, and it was a bit hard to bite through. Also, the hushpuppies are delish, with corn and a little spice in them. I dip them in honey... The Chicken Salad sandwich is definitely my fave! You should definitely try this place out!

Terrebonne is a very small Cajun cuisine joint on the corner of Vermont & 8th. This space has been home to several Lawrence staples (MoJoe's & Vermont St BBQ) that started here and moved to bigger spaces. The menu includes items such as Cajun Po Boys, Philly cheesesteaks, reubens, and even Muffaletta. Prices range from $5.50 to $8.00. The daily specials are on a rotating schedule and are very popular. The speed of the the is on par with the Cajun lifestyle....slow. It took over 30 minutes to get my sandwich. I should have expected that when I noticed every table was full, but not a single person had food in front of them. The food was three stars, but I give it two for the wait. 30 minutes for a sandwich is a little excessive. On to the food! The first thing I noticed when I pulled the sandwich out of the bag was it's weight. It was uncommonly light. The meat was chunkier than the typical cheesesteaks and it had green & red peppers, onions and provolone cheese. Oh yeah, black pepper and lots of it! It was hard to taste the veggies because it's overpowering taste. The sandwich was average, not the best and definitely not the worst. Granted the Po' Boys are the specialty and I'll order one next time. I'll give Terrebonne another shot, but I will be sure to notice how many people are waiting before I step inside.

I've only discovered this gem recently and now I'm hooked. I'm not sure why I was procrastinating to go the first time but once I dropped in after work one evening I was sold!! Fried okra is hard to come by and this is phenomenal @ Terre...I'd have to say the shrimp po'boy was the best tasting I've ever had. I've had bigger ones probably with some bigger shrimp but the overall sandwich is unparalleled. I've had the cuban also and can't wait to try everything else. I'm about to order from there right now so I can pick up on my walk home. Don't delay try it asap!!! The feel of the place is also an experience and i'd recommend hanging out in there if you can. It's super tiny but the establishment is the epitome of what i think every restaurant should be. Do a few things really well and have some freaking character. Love it!

Wonderful food cooked with soul. Best hush puppies I've ever had. Love the red beans n rice, gumbo, but wasn't a huge fan of gator po boy. Stick with basics over novelty, and you'll love it.

Good food, unique premise. One street over from the main drag (Vermont), I feel as though it actually benefits from the smallish location, adding to its unique appeal. Great food, in the three or four times I've been, I haven't tried anything and not liked it.

This place is very good. Highly recommend the hush puppies. The FF are better than average, too - but if you're torn between FF and hush puppies - go for the hush puppies. The muffeletta was very tasty and the peanut butter bar was a mess to eat, but delicious! The place is really charming and we're so happy to have it in Lawrence. Keep up the great work!!

I'll cut straight to the chase here: I like Terrebonne. Don't expect anything more than a hole-in-the-wall carry out joint. While there is a table (that is a single table), I don't see many people eating there. Terrebonne really specializes in one thing: po'boys. Unlike Global Cafe, the choices are a bit more ... authentic: fried shrimp, crawfish, alligator, catfish, et cetera. The portions aren't exceedingly big, but they're tasty. Expect a bit of a wait (five minutes?) as they're going to fry whatever is going in your sandwich. Also, they have great deviled eggs. Their regular deviled eggs use whole mustard rather than the French's in a bottle nonsense. But, if they have them, go for the wasabi deviled eggs. They're great.

Delicious po-boys, better tasting and better priced than Anglers. As a downtown office worker, this is a pretty good option for lunch.

Tried the andouille po' boy. Wow...awesome cajun slaw poured on top of spicy, cajun sausage. Need to have an expert on andouille try the sausage as I know nothing about cajun food, but I'm a fan of this messy, spicy, tasty sandwich. Still not a fan of the seasoned fries.

One of my favorite go-to spots. Everything is SO delicious and it is the only place you can get a Nutella milkshake. Yum all around!

Tiny hole in the wall diner with 100% legit Po Boys. I had the fried shrimp version. The roll was not too hard, not to soft. Great chew and super fresh. Wouldn't be surprised at all if they came from the bakery next door daily. The shrimp were fried golden brown and nice and plump. Probably 21/25 count. Just the right amount of remoulade so that it dripped off the sandwich on to the plate to creating a perfect well to reapply to each bite. Also had a cup of gumbo on the side. Not the best ever but very good. Lots of shredded chicken and andouille included. Lacked a bit of seasoning IMOP. Overall, sensational. Definitely going back many many times.

My boyfriend and I came here last winter looking for something spicy and filling. We definitely hit the jackpot here! We both ordered a bowl of gumbo with hushpuppies. The gumbo was excellent--the selection of hot sauces made it even better! I never wanted the hushpuppies to end. They were crispy and slightly sweet and PERFECT. I love getting takeout here when it's cold. It's delicious and cheap.

It looks like they have more seating available inside now. When I first went here, they did not have any seating options inside except for one small table with a chair. The table was covered with advertisements and flyers, but the owner was so nice and friendly and chatty, that he offered to clear all of those papers off so that I could sit there and eat my sandwich. They are so nice here, and friendly and charming just like people in Louisiana! The food is delicious! Just as good as what I got at Mother's Poboys in New Orleans! I've tried the alligator poboy and the crawfish poboy, both were great. I will definitely come back!
