It's been quite some time since I grabbed a latte from this place, but I cleaned out my closet this weekend, and found a receipt from Drink a Latte. If I remember correctly, this is a small building, very clean, with some tasty drinks! I remember accidently finding this place after eating at Miami Ice. The barista was cute and friendly! My receipt says 4/30/2010....and a total of $3.87.....so I guess it REALLY has been a long time....I need to get back there!!

This small, local, dive bar is a hidden gem in Wyandotte County. It has that "where everybody knows your name" feel to it. Service is prompt and friendly, prices are cheap, jukebox has the old, dance classics, and they serve free food (buffet, crockpot style) on game days. If you like Chez Charlie's in KCMO on Broadway, you'll like this place.

1) Boil chicken 2) Heat Art's Enchilada Sauce in pan. 3) Dip tortilla's into sauce and stack them back up. Give the tortilla's a chance to soak up the sauce and don't skimp. 4) Once chicken is cooled, shred it. 5) Season chicken to taste (I use just salt and pepper / my mom also adds cumin and garlic) 6) Roll chicken, cheese, and green chile's into tortilla and place in pan 7) Brush extra enchilada sauce on top and bake them in the oven at 325 for 15 minutes. 8) Enjoy the best enchiladas in the world.... if you don't use Art's, don't even bother.

Subway

Perhaps my excitement for this new location's location is making me easier to please, but so far, I've been very pleased with this very new Subway location. Nestled just a block or so from my work and open for breakfast, it's lovely to have one more option for a quick bite besides Sonic and QT. We've been eagerly watching the once-evil Dairy Queen at this address blossom into a bouncing baby Subway. Their drive thru is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. we all know it's complicated to order at Subway, well this is actually fun...except for the fact that it takes a couple of minutes and my little fingers get cold sticking out the window as I use the giant touch screen to guide me through my perfect order. It's quite easy to use, but I could see it being rough to order multiple sandwiches. If they were busy, the line could really pile up. I was there for breakfast and chose a Steak, Bacon and Egg sandwich. I'm kind of new to their breakfast options. This was fantastic. I know I'm partially responsible for picking the best toppings for my sandwich. So delicious. I will be back again and again.

Great place. The remodel must have paid off. Unbelievably busy every night. The nachos and the cheese dip made a meal for us. My vodka and tonic was $4.00! Packed, packed, packed!

Paleteria Tropicana

Reviews:
Wow. Just wow. This place is pretty much amazing and you need to go there now. All I really knew about Paleteria Tropicana was that they sold Mexican style frozen treats in some rather unique flavors. It's been on my radar for a while, and since I was in the neighborhood today, I insisted we stop by. I was expecting a tiny little popsicle shack, sort of roughly thrown together. Something like a tropical snow place. The second I walked in, all of my preconceived notions about the place went out the window. First of all, this place is HUGE, modern and impeccably clean. The line is all the way out the door and as I stood waiting in line, I began noticing all of the amazing things heading past me. Huge and elaborate sundaes, banana splits and other fantastic desert type treats. And then the real surprises: beautiful fruit salads, specialty smoothies and shakes, and a full menu of Mexican favorites! I saw a TON of different things that I was ecstatic to try. Seriously, just look at the menu. It's ridiculous. But I was here for one thing, and that was a paletia. They didn't have the flavors listed, so the woman behind the counter rattled them off. They have a TON of options, but I went with the first she mentioned: mango and chile. It was delicious! With huge chunks of real fruit and a kick of the pepper, this was unlike any popsicle I had growing up. Even better? It was less than $2! I will definitely be back sometime VERY soon for a full meal, followed by another one of their deserts. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
Most places require more than a first visit before they warrant the 5-star review, but this one is love at first sight. I remembered seeing the Yelpers generally rave about the various locations, and I was craving dessert (but nothing too heavy or overwrought, sopapillas maybe) en route to KCK. So we stop by here for the first time. We ran in to a brief language barrier, with the very sweet girl at the counter struggling with her English as much as I was with some Spanish. (Those 6 years of French in school just don't do me much good for anything than finding the Metro or the library in any language). But she grabbed someone to translate and we were in great shape. I got an eggnog paleteria and the hubby got strawberry churros. Absolutely awesome. Exactly the fix we needed flavor wise and done perfectly. I'll be fixated on those for a while now!
Delicious treats!!! We go here for work breaks occasionally and it gets better everytime! The cremes with fruit and granola are my favorite!

This is a Mexican grocery store that has a food service counter that seems to have overtaken the store. This is the place to go for Taco Tuesday. $1 a taco, with about a dozen different meat choices. Can't wait a full week for Taco Tuesday to come around? Thankfully, there's Taco Friday as well, with the same $1 tacos. Al pastor, lengua, barbacoa, seasoned pollo are among the choices. Barbacoa and pollo are my favorites and I tend not to stray from those. The chicken is seasoned and have veggies fajita style thrown in. The barbacoa (beef cheek) is cooked and seasoned to perfection and is so tender you can rip it apart with a fork. On the weekends, they serve seasoned lamb dishes. Again, they are cooked to perfection. I've tried the lamb stew and it's really wonderful. There are about half a dozen choices of salsas to choose from. They range in spiciness and all are tasty. They used to be on the tables in buckets, then in ketchup containers but I think KCK Health Dept cracked down and now there's a full salsa bar right by the tables. One of the best places in town to get your lunch on for under $5. Everything is fresh and delicious. And authentic! Hands down, the best Mexican food I've come across so far in the KC area.
We come here almost every Sunday! We've tried almost everything. The plato de carne is good with the bulb onions on the side. Tacos, tortas, burritos & menudo are also all very good. My two favorites are the pastor tortas and burrito.
If you're looking to save time and money AND have fantastic food...why haven't you been here yet?!!? The cafeteria side is AMAZING! Some of the best pastor I've had in awhile! (The carnitas, for me, was a bit greasy - but still tasty - I just felt like I had lip gloss on for hours afterwards!) Nothing fancy, just really good food, fast service and shockingly affordable prices! I can't wait to come back on a Sunday morning for the chorizo and eggs! Served with rice and beans and it's $4.50!!! SHUT UP!!!! I'm in!!!! The meat counter flashed me back in time! Some of the freshest looking, well cut and tempting raw meats of ANY grocery store I've been in for at least 20 years! You just don't find this anywhere anymore! When I'm feeling less lazy, I'm all in on the meat counter! They will cut your steaks to your spec!!! Seriously, this place just made me want to jump up and down and squeal YES!!!!!! Made me feel like I was home and even though my Spanish sucks, no one there held it against me! Will be back very soon! Me encantó, mucho!!!!!

They turn chickens here. In this case, high-volume means consistently fresh, properly cooked chicken. Not fried. Grilled. On the salty side, so taste it first. But the low-fi vibe and the basic props make for a delicious, build-your-own soft chicken taco, or mini-burrito, or whatever you like using the salsa, beans, rice, pickled onion and that chicken. Great spot for lunch. Would probably be good for carryout too. Not fancy. Not even close. Just really good tasting grilled chicken.
We found this on yelp. And this might be the best chicken ive ever had in my life. We were there at like 5:15 and there was still a long line. The service was great. The guy that helped us was very nice. No one really cares about all that though. You want to know about the food. The tortillas were fantastic. The beans and rice were just average. But the chicken ...omg the chicken! I can't recommend the chicken strong enough.
My husband thinks I am the world's best cook. Little does he know it was carryout! Seriously though, he was so happy when he found out I had bought to full chickens instead of just the one I told him I was going to get. This is seriously great chicken. And I love the pickled onions. This will be a repeat option for dinner. Easy peasy & cheap!
