This place has excellent burgers and sandwiches. HUGE portion sizes, great flavors with tender juicy meat, and the prices are so low that when I closed my tab I had to ask the guy if they'd missed something because I had somehow managed to buy burgers and drinks for 6 people without breaking half a franklin. Guess I have been away from KS in the big city for too long. Also, when I say "large portions" I mean it. The double cheeseburger looked like it was easily 3/4-1 lb of meat. It fed my 6'5" eating-machine grandpa and he was STUFFED. There were only 2 downsides I saw. First of all I had the spicy chicken sandwich and by "spicy" they mean "we put Frank's hot sauce on it". Uh ok, whatever I guess, it was still juicy and delicious. Secondly, the service wasn't stellar. They do follow the typical counter-service type model but they forgot a couple things with our order - though they did fix this quickly once we pointed it out.

As far as college town burger/bar fair goes, this place is pretty darn good. The tots are crispy and it's clear they change out their oil on the regular because they've never had that bitter taste. The burger options are plentiful, and the domestics are cheap. I opted for a double burger, but the meat isn't quite flavorful enough, so it throws off the flavor profiles. Corn nuggets and fried pickles are tasty apps. Like I said, the fryer oil is fresh, so any fried options will be tasty. Make sure you place your order at the bar. While there are waitresses-a-plenty, they aren't about the food-order life.

We stopped in our our way through Hays. The 3 of us ordered at 11:05, our food arrived 40 very long minutes later. I would have understood the wait, if they were swamped, but they were not. What a disappointment. Was looking forward to a great, juicy burger. Got a dry, over cooked burger. The servers were friendly and checked back on us. Bathrooms were pretty gross, but understanding they are a college bar, pretty much what I expected. We will pass by The Q next time.

This place probably makes the best burgers in town also a fun place to come to for drinks at night.

I'm gonna preface this by saying straight up, if there is no Golden Q, Hays as a city needs to be retired. This is the single best sports bar to ever exist. Hey, do you like burgers!? Of course you do, this is the motherfucking USA! The Golden Q has the best burgers bar none. I've had the opportunity to try the Southwest burger... HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Great basket of fries to go with it too. Usually sports bars can't get the fries but THE Q!? NAILS EM! I tried corn nuggets or the first time here. How is this not a nationwide staple??? I got the privilege to meet the owner (total sweetheart by the way!) and was lucky enough to take a peak at the kitchen and everything looked good to me. Hey man, all I'm saying is I hope one day me and my grandchildren can go to one of the thousands of Q franchises and enjoy the food from any part of this country! A country with Golden Qs everywhere is a country I can stand behind. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Very overrated. I've been there three times and each time was more disappointing than the last. The food is OK. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing really worth getting excited over. The burgers aren't even the best in Hays. Food is decent, typical of what you would find anywhere else. Just standard fare. However, what loses it for me is their service. I ordered a beer and showed the server my driver's license. She looked confused since it was not a kansas license and was like "I, uh, I'm not sure about this." Seriously, an out of state ID caused the girl to freeze up. Second time I went, I had a seat and a server came over and told me I couldn't sit there because that's where some regulars come in and play poker. It was still afternoon and the place was about 2/3 empty, so plenty of other open tables, but apparently this was *their* spot. A bar with assigned seats is a new concept to me, but whatever. I moved to the tiny cramped bar and promptly got ignored by the wait staff all night (in all fairness, they probably just couldn't see me.) Last time I went in, I went in after an extremely rough day and needed a drink. The server asked how my day was and I gave her a quick ten second overview. She said "wow, sounds like you need a beer!" She later came back and served me a second round. About ten minutes after that, the manager and a bouncer came over and escorted me out because I "gave the server an anxiety attack." I am not making this up. It's billed as a sports bar, but the TV's usually don't show any of the games you're interested in, and if they do, it's all on mute anyway. I asked them to change one tv closest to me to another game, and the server said "I don't know how" and just walked away. I haven't been back since then and I probably won't be, unless I'm with a group that for some reason really wants to go there.

My profile pic is from inside this place, so yeah, I'm a fan. As far as value for your money, it doesn't get any better than the Q. Buy me a shot if you see me there and I'll be sure to return the favor.

Really tasty burgers and fried sides. I've had better burgers, but these we're certainly good. Don't be scared by the strip club exterior, it's really nice inside with billiards, and arcade games

This is out go-to place for lunch when we are in town. They literally have the BEST burgers. I eat out a ton for work and travel the Midwest. Great food. Stellar place. Friendly staff. Keep it up!

Every time I fly out to Kansas, I have to go to the Q. I think I cry a little every time I have something bbq or on of their burgers. Yum.

The Golden Q has an awesome atmosphere and is a great place to go to watch a game with friends and the prices are great! Best of all, though, is their burgers, which are without a doubt the best in town! There is so much to choose from on the menu and every time we have gone our food has been incredible! I would definitely recommend if looking for a fun time and great food.

For Hays KS I'm betting this is as good as it gets for a bar. Close to campus, this bar has tons of TV's, pool tables, and cold beer. I can't speak for the food as I was just drinking. Had multiple friendly bartenders ask if I needed anything. Clean establishment, full bar, lively patrons.. On a Tuesday night no less.

This was a delightful cheeseburger in Hays KS, for the places I have eaten in Hays, I would say easily the best quality and tastiest options. Go with the Q burgers, you won't be disappointed! I did the double Q with cheese and a side of fried mushrooms. The cheeseburger was inhaled at record speeds. I am not a huge eater but I could have easily scarfed another. The fried mushrooms were definitely of bagged and frozen variety, nothing to write home about. The ambiance is a walk in and counter order type joint with wait staff that deliver the food to your table. Not sure why they don't just take your order but it seems if you want alcohol, they take your order then. Everything seemed in order and it was a smooth first visit with an awesome cheeseburger to boot; can't wait to go back and try something else, I hear they have some other really good specialty burgers.

I have never been to the Q. I've heard they had really good burgers so I decided to try it. I called in a to go order and the lady was really nice on the phone. When I walked in they weren't that busy, so i assumed someone would be there to help me or tell me where to go. Since I had never been there I just stood there while the staff just look at me and kept on walking. Not once did the staff greet me or ask me if there was something I needed. I finally saw someone checking out so I walked over and got my order. After getting home I was rather disappointed with the food. The burger that everyone is so crazy about wasn't even that good, the fries had no seasoning and were bland. Needless to say, I won't be back.

Had the cowboy burger for lunch. Good and filling (with fries). Price was very reasonable. Didn't knock my socks off, but I'd go back.

Although I've been living in Hays for about 6 months and only about 2 blocks from The Golden Q, I didn't eat there until today. OH WOW! This is as good as bar food gets. big, filling burgers with no frills. Wonderful chili cheese fries. And although I didn't try a beer, I could see the bottles were kept on ice, not in an ice box or fridge. Price was very good, 3 of us ate there with burgers and fries (2 double cheese burgers, one single...all had fries one with chili and cheese, all water to drink) for under $10/person. That's a huge plus for me. It's an up to date sports bar motif with several flat screen TVs and the current Big 12 teams (this may seem minor to some, but if you market yourself as a sports bar, keep up on the Big 12 teams, they do). Minor complaint, for a sports bar only a couple of blocks from a local college campus, very little "local swag". Minor minor complaint, not a deal breaker. Another downside is the location. It works for locals but puts travlers at a disadvantage. Seek it out though, highly recommend.

Good burgers, but not so good wings. Great atmosphere, and definitely a good bar to go to in Hays for watching sports.

Great greasy Burgers, all sorts of fried food, great place for Hays, in larger city would be rated much lower. Its got the yin and yang of the old drunks that sit at the bar all day, and loud kids running around everywhere yelling. Food is good but not of high quality.

Tons of pool tables, a couple dart boards and great food. We make sure to order the corn nuggets every time.

Bar Food at its best! They say "if there is a game on we're open!" A local recommend and we left the Interstate and made the short 3 miles derive South to try this place. WELL WORTH THE DRIVE and deff local crowd. We had a cheesburger and Rubin with tots and Q fries - all very good. Tap Beer chilled to 28 degrees. Pepsi products.
