Very good sandwiches and the ladies are very accommodating with regard to how you want it prepared. Have eaten there weekly for the last couple of years and have only been disappointed once. I paid for a dozen cookies and mistakenly only had a half dozen when I got home. However, the mistake was rectified on my next visit. Great place! The breakfasts are very good too but they don't open early enough to stop on the way to work :(

Sunday bunch was delicious! Food was fresh and flavorful. Highly recommended! You will not be disappointed. The restaurant is a little out of the way, but well worth the short drive into the country. The atmosphere is very family friendly, as if you are attending a potluck dinner. The wait staff is attentive and amiable. The menu is limited, but the selection is sufficient. This no doubt assures that every attention to detail is given to the food they do serve. The fresh apple cobbler ala mode was the best I've ever tasted. The biscuits were light and fluffy and eggs made-to-order. My husband is excited to go back and try the rib eye steak on a Friday or Saturday night.
Great food down home style really cozy place good atmosphere I would give more stars but 5 is all that's available beef noodles rock
Disappointing. Did not live up to the hype of other reviews. Environment is warm and friendly. Good to chat. We were greeted in a friendly manner. However, our service the rest of the night from Miss Minnesota was lacking. She disappeared for large periods of time, we would wait quite a while to get drink refills, and reorder a few entree items. Food. Wedge salad was only a wedge because of how the iceberg is cut. Nothing like the toppings you get on typical wedge. 2 croutons and 1/2 a grape tomato do not make toppings on any type of salad. Chicken noodle soup did live up the hype. Wonderful! If we had realized how bland the entree course was going to be, we would have loaded up on more soup. Entree: Meats were something like any Sunday dinner at home. Green beans were flavorful. Baked potatoes with only sour cream and butter were extremely disappointing. Rolls were rolls. Thought from the website they were something dealing with Parmesan. If so, it was hiding. Desserts were good, but portions were extremely small. If that is the case, then have a bowl that matches. Otherwise, it looked minimal in the large soup bowls. While other tables were being served coffee with their dessert, our Miss M disappeared and we didn't have a chance to ask again. Oh, and the prices are more than their website too. So for the price, the 2 miles of gravel roads, and just so-so options, we won't be back and I would not recommend to anyone who hasn't eaten here. I think there might be some sentimental patrons....but we wouldn't recommend or return.

From the first step into this place ,you are charmed! The old fashioned candy selection to the high soda fountain serving up classics ,like cherry limeade and chocolate soda, you will love the Snow Ball!!

This is a great place for families, groups, and/or study sessions. Another fun experience offered at Snow Ball is choosing from their wide variety of candies and snacks!

Great burgers! Maybe just a little too greasy at times but taste great! Fries are too cool at times...being held too long. Need to offer a "44" malt or shake. Keep shrinking the size to keep down the price and calling the bigger size a Large is a joke!

Tuck U Inn at Glick Mansion

Reviews:
Really enjoyed our recent stay here while visiting our son and daughter in law in the area. The room was comfortable and attractive, breakfast was wonderful, and Chris and Loman could not have been more accommodating and welcoming as hosts. We highly recommend the Tuck-U Inn!
Don't trust their Web site! Booked two rooms online and was then contacted to say they were already booked in person and so we would have to change our plans. Availability completely misrepresented!
My boyfriend and I stayed here on a Sunday evening in January. I don't even know where to start raving about this place! We were greeted by the very friendly, kind owner, Chris. She gave us a brief tour of the home and some history about the place. Very interesting. The house itself is positively beautiful, inside and out. It is charmingly decorated with neat antiques and lots of interesting things to look at. The owners keep zebra finches in the main sitting room, and Chris was kind enough to allow me to play her baby grand piano. It was a fantastic experience. We stayed in the First Lady's Room. The bed was extraordinarily comfortable and the room warm and cozy. I ended up taking not one, but two fantastic bubble baths in the jacuzzi tub, which by the way, was in-suite! My boyfriend and I both slept like a dream. We joked with the owner the next morning that we had planned on going out for the evening, but never made it, as we were both so comfortable in the room. The next morning we were served a breakfast of almond apricot puff pastry, cheesy egg quiche, potatoes and sausage, and fruit. Everything was delicious, right down to the coffee. Chris was kind enough to serenade us with piano music as we ate. Both her and her husband sat and chatted with us for quite some time. I want to say we were treated like royalty, but it was more like we were treated like cherished friends who had come for a stay. I would HIGHLY recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone looking to get away for the weekend. Even if you have no other plans than to hang around the place all day, the Tuck U Inn absolutely cannot be compared to.

Lopez De Mexico

112 S 6th St
Atchison, 66002
Reviews:
With respect to a prior review, the Mexican-American cuisine of Kansas is genuine and authentic. Lopez de Mexico is a good example of the style. Mexican immigrants came to Kansas in the late 19th Century to build and maintain the railroads. They adapted their native foods to the ingredients and cooking methods available to them here. While ground beef is not common in authentic south-of-the-border Mexican cuisine, it IS quite common in Kansas Mexican cooking. They also had to replace traditional Mexican cheeses with the cheeses they found in the Midwest. Attend Topeka's Mexican Fiesta sometime and you'll see lots of Mexican-Americans loving their unique and delicious food. My sister lives on the West Coast, loves Mexican food, travels frequently in Southern California and Mexico, ate at Lopez recently for the first time, and loved it. Our family is grateful to have Lopez in Atchison. We eat there on average about twice a month, maybe more. We always enjoy it. My personal favorites are the pork chile and smothered burritos. My wife will usually order the enchiladas. I imagine that, over the years, we've sampled everything on the menu and never been disappointed. Service is always friendly and attentive. The margaritas are well mixed. You can actually taste some tequila in the drink, unlike a lot of "authentic" Mexican restaurants where the gringos sop up margaritas that taste like limeade. The beer is kept very cold, and soda glasses are never empty. The chips and salsa are never ending if you like. Again, Lopez de Mexico is a fine example of Kansas Mexican cuisine. Viva la Lopez!
I came here once with my coworkers for lunch and once is definitely one times too many in this case. I'm from So-Cal where there is no shortage of authentic Mexican food so I know what good ol' Mexican food tastes like. The menu has a lot of stuff to choose from but nothing looked appealing to me since almost every beef dish consisted of ground beef. Ground beef is a red flag when it comes to the authenticity of Mexican food. I almost opted for a beef burrito but backed down when I realized it was filled with ground beef and smothered with cheese sauce. So when I came across carne asada tacos on the menu I saw a glimmer of hope since carne asada is my go to meat when lengua isn't available. However, all hope was lost when I took a bite from one of the tacos. The meat was not carne asada. It was beef but it was sweet and the texture was just way off. It came with bell peppers, which is just completely wrong for an asada taco. Perhaps they were trying to make a weird fajita taco but the meat would still have been wrong. I mean this place is Mexican. Based on the restaurant's history (you can find this on the menu) I would assume the owners are of Mexican descent so I can't write this off as sheer ignorance. In all fairness though, Lopez De Mexico is more than likely just trying to cater to its audience. On that note, I have nothing else to say.
This is a cool place. The service was awesome, free chips and salsa and a lively atmosphere. I recommend it.

Friendly workers. Lots of so so food. Not sure how fresh it was. Pretty wide selection for a Chinese buffet in the middle of nowhere. Every single time I've come here I left with the stink in my clothes and a gross feeling in my belly
Plenty of choices of food. Food is hot and tastey. Don't look for alcohol. Quiet establishment. I was lucky to get a parking spot. Good crowd.
Good Chinese take-out. Good buffet. Food has slipped in the last couple of months from very good. Don't know if cook or supplier changed but quality has dropped from where it was.

Maria’s Mexican Restaurant

801 Commercial St
Atchison, 66002
Reviews:
I don't know what's happening at Maria's recently, but the service has declined seriously. On my last two visits, the hostess was really surly with me and other customers. The waitress (same both times) was a disaster. She is so slow and doesn't listen. One night, she brought us our check with her coat on and cigarettes in her hand--clearly she needed a break. You stay classy, okay? Don't know why she was so desperate for that break either; she hadn't been working too hard! I hope they get things straightened out. People here can easily travel to St. Joe or North KC for dinner...
Not very expensive. Burrito loco with steak is my go to. I've never gotten anything else here. It's very very good. Margaritas were also good. Good selection of domestic and imported beer
I was not impressed with Maria's. The food is bland but it wasn't unpleasant just not much oomph to it. I had a burrito in white cheese sauce with some guacamole. It filled me up but it wasn't singing to me like Mexican food usually does. The locals seem to really like it because the place was packed on a Friday night and it is in a clean, downtown area. Parking is convenient, either on the lot or on the street. Friendly atmosphere and good service. Prices are decent.
