The food and ambiance is very good. The service is okay and the screened in porch does have more flies than you would think. It is really cool though being able to eat a nice lunch overlooking a beautiful farm.

Farm. To. Table. The Loft delivers rich and hearty fair in a warm down home environment. A cheese plate is a must, especially when seated inside looking toward the shelves and shelves of cheese wheels. Highly recommend the rabbit and a chocolate milks shot to finish. A delightful wine list by the glass and bottle on offer. Outstanding service accompanies the experience.

I attended a work party in their relatively new "The Roost" party room. Food at TPC is delicious always so my review will focus on the room. There are so many positives to this room. 1. It's completely separate from the dining room, even with its own entrance. It sits above the dining room and there is a glass wall to see the patrons below. Beautiful! 2. It has its own bathroom and plenty of room inside to mingle. There is even room for a little bar to be set up. No one has to leave the party room. 3. The balcony has plenty of room as well. 4. I'm not sure of the official amount it holds but there is plenty of room for 20-30 people easily-long tables-and serving staff without feeling cramped. 5. I believe there was a fireplace as well. 6. It's 200 to hold the room and there are great menu options. There are a few drawbacks though 1. The entrance is outside and you have to climb what feels like rickety steps. And if you parked on the lowest level, you are going up two flights of stairs to get up there. There IS a stair rider thing to get up there if you are unable to climb the stairs. 2. Parking at the creamery is a little frustrating. I've never once been able to snatch up a parking spot on the restaurant side, and have been stuck parking on the store side-which means stairs and walking just to get to dinner. Now-don't get me wrong- I love shopping at the store- but heels and cold weather and a lack of desire to climb stairs make this a little annoying. 3. The balcony had a great view but it's on a farm-of course it smells a little out there. Overall-I look forward to getting to attend another party at Traders!

Chilaquiles, Biscuits and Gravy and Eggs Benedict...all winners!!! Can't wait to come back to try the Breakfast Stew and the Pork and Waffle!

There are three parts to this little gem. 1) Trader's Point Creamery - I regularly buy yogurt and cheeses from here. This is a staple in our house! SO SO good! 2) The Loft restaurant is a great pick any time. High quality food, great staff, and a nice ambiance. This is a regular for me. 3) I recently attended a private event at The Roost (above the restaurant) and it was truly a wonderful evening. The fireplace made the space feel intimate and the wait staff were very attentive, without being distracting. Plates showed up at the right times and drinks stayed full without people having to ask. I ordered salmon - which I am very picky about - and it was perfect. And oh the ice cream! Everyone had a wonderful evening socializing and enjoying the new addition to the farm.

I am reviewing for the Dinner on the Deck. The server did a good job and the food was good, however we were a bit taken back about the value. I get that it's a farm to table type restaurant, however $25 for a 1/4 cup of quinoa, 2 1/2 pieces of asparagues, a sip of soup and a half portion of salmon was surprising. The waitress then came by and asked if we would like ice cream. Ok, we thought, dinner comes with ice cream, makes the $ reasonable. NOPE!!! $8 for the two of us to have ice cream. Food was good, portions WAY off. At least give me an extra "twig" of asparagus? Needless to say, I won't be doing Dinner on the Deck ever again. However I did try a great beer I've never had before, Cucumber Kolsh from Flat 12 was very refreshing!

Diary Bar - The organic banana split is definitely a splurge. It was $17 including tip. An individual scoop of ice cream is a whopping $4. Strawberry was my favorite, followed by vanilla. I thought the chocolate was too bitter to be enjoyed.

Wonderful relaxing true farm to table restaurant. Don't let your jaded palette not allow you to discover the layering of flavors and textures going on. Listen to whats on the cheese board and USE all of the ingredients. Sandwich special..delicious. ice creams........you better share and try mixing them! OGM! TDF! :-) Oh....service staff could not be more accommodating or nicer. BTW. I very rarely give any place 5 stars.

This restaurant is nice but pricey for what you get. They used to have a killer Adult Mac and cheese on the menu and since it is a creamery a nice option. It is gone :(. Wish they had a couple appetizer options that didn't cost more than an entree at most restaurants and actually had a real portion for the price they do charge. The atmosphere is nice, the people friendly, small business but it definitely isn't somewhere you would eat at often. Their ice cream is excellent and the milk they sell in their store is great. But can't say I will rush back for the $20 hamburger anytime soon. The $18 Mac and cheese... Well if it returns to the menu it might be worth the splurge.

I hadn't heard of this restaurant until two weeks ago. Since then I'd heard of it 3 times. So, I had to check it out. So glad I did. Not what I expected...even better.

My husband took me here for a special night out. We started the evening with the cheeseboard which was the highlight. Our steak was undercooked (we had asked for medium and received medium rare) and at the same time only lukewarm. The server noted that we were getting the "last piece" of the carrot parsnip cake - it was dry and crumbly with barely any icing. Not what you would expect from a supposedly upper end restaurant that definitely charges upper end pricing. Service was ok - not good or bad, simply ok. Live music and atmosphere were lovely. Overall, good for a one-time try, but we expected more based on the reviews.

Everything I had was good. Some of the cheeses weren't my style but still fun to try.. The entrees at my table were sold delicious but I highly suggest the steak or fish. We had seven different desserts and all were amazing. We were here for a celebration and is a good place for groups (5-10) but also great for a date night !

My wife and I enjoyed dinner last night at the Traders's Point Creamery Loft Restaurant. We started off our meal with the cheese board, which was excellent as always. My wife had the beef barley soup, which she raved about even after we got home. Good thing she ordered a bowl. I selected a cup of creamed broccoli /kale soup. Very good combination of tastes, enhanced with a pat of garlic butter. For our main course, I had the Quinoa Cakes and my wife selected the Maple-glazed quail. The Quinoa Cakes are my favorite, and I order them almost every time I visit the Loft. They are sooooooo good. The quail was just okay, A bit dry and difficult to eat. We topped off the meal with a sundae --- How can you come to the creamery and not get the fantastic ice cream? We loved the evening -- Great food, excellent band, and a beautiful Christmas tree.

The brunch is a MUST on Sunday's. I would highly recommend the Country Lox or the Baked eggs but really you can't go wrong here. If you want farm to table and locally sourced foods this is your place. Even the drive coming in is beautiful! Think big red barn, sitting outside on the porch in the summer enjoying brunch, dinner, wine, or whatever you choose. The service is always excellent as well, very knowledgable and friendly staff. Get some homemade ice cream after your meal, you won't regret it!!!

Went for lunch. Hamburger lacked flavor but cole slaw was delicious. Food was over priced for quantity & quality. Desserts were also over priced. Service was slow.

My wife and I have eaten here on two occasions - once for dinner and once for Sunday brunch. Both visits provided excellent food and great ambiance for our dining experience. Dinner - When we had dinner here, we started with the cheese board. Everything about this was delicious - the cheeses, the honey, the fig chutney, all of it. We also ordered a bottle of white wine that was quite tasty. My wife tried the bison, and I opted for the filet mignon. Neither disappointed, and it was hands down one of the best filets we have ever tried. We finished dinner with some ice cream and went home feeling like we just had the best meal we've ever had in the state of Indiana. Brunch - After having such a great dinner experience, we decided to check out their Sunday brunch. We started with the beignets - we asked for a side of honey with them and were so glad we did. They were already delicious, but the honey added just the right touch! My wife ordered the french toast - which came with a blueberry compote on this particular day - and I had an omelette with a side of fruit. Again, both of our meals were delicious. We would say that we enjoyed dinner better than brunch, but both visits provided excellent meals! We will definitely be going back again!

Went here for a quick Lunch, ended up spending a little more time than we planned but it was worth it. Got the farmburger, and the garlic aioli'd brioche bun that sandwiched the grass fed beef is something I will now do at home. Delicious.

I really wanted to love this place more than I did. Started out with the meat and cheese plate. Pretty small portions of the cheese for the price. It was ok, but not memorable. I had the duck. It was way over cooked and the lentil side was very salty. My husband had the lamb, which he enjoyed. Mother in laws pork chop was overlooked as well. The mashed potato side was really good, and I'd order again. The kid's menu was sad given the regular menu (hot dogs, Mac and cheese, etc). I would have liked to have seen an option for kids who will eat more "adventurously"- at least by kid standards. For dessert we tried the milkshake and bread pudding. The milkshakes are very rich and the kids loved it. The bread pudding very good, as was the ice cream. I'd come again to try their brunch menu, but am indifferent about dinner.

My husband and I moved to south Indianapolis almost a year ago, and the meal we had here this week is the best we've had in this state. Everything was SO fresh and delicious. We had a bottle of wine, the cheese board (that we ate every bite of), two entress - him the filet and me the bison (and we practically licked our plates), and each had some ice cream for dessert. All exceptional! The portion sizes are perfect, as we hte a lot but didn't walk out feeling miserable. Now when friends come to visit us from home, we will bring them here and not to one of the 100s of chain restuarants in town.

I've been to The Loft for brunch several times and just recently had the opportunity to go for dinner. Three of us arrived around 8:00 on a Saturday night for dinner without reservations. It was a beautiful evening so we opted to sit outside on the deck and were seated right away. We ordered a bottle of wine and the cheese plate to start. All the cheeses were excellent and were served with toasted baguette. There were quite a few appealing items on the menu and we ended up selecting the scallops, whey-fed pork and a red snapper that was the special of the evening. The scallops were cooked to perfection - probably the best I have had. There were served with a light asian style sauce. The pork chop was pretty good, but not the best we've had. The red snapper was excellent and was garnished with a refreshing herb and radish salad. Entrees come with your choice of side and our selections included mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus and braised greens. The asparagus and greens were excellent. Service was pretty good, although our server did miss the order for the second bottle of wine. We opted to share two desserts and went with the toffee sundae with vanilla ice cream and the chocolate fudge cake. The sundae was amazing and large enough for three people to share. The chocolate cake was a disappointment - dry and not very flavorful. The setting was nice and casual; however, watch out for the mosquitoes when sitting outside - we were eaten alive!

I've been here before for lunch and this time went for dinner with a large group of friends. The food was really good and the service was friendly and attentive. I was a little discouraged by the prices, it's definitely a budget-ahead type of restaurant. But I know that it's farm-to-table and you're paying for quality. I had chicken over green tortillas, a corn hash and avacado cream. It was so good. Nice selection of wine and beer. The beers were mostly locally but not on-tap, just bottles. I was hoping for a more local selection of wines since that was the theme of the beers. It would be nice to have some Easley, New Day, Oliver etc. in there. Giving it a 4 just due to the price. I paid $54 for dinner and 1 glass of wine for 1 person. I didn't even get an appetizer.

Wonderful concept, beautiful scenery, fresh veggies.....flavor is missing. Went for lunch and very disappointed with the flavor of the food. However, my biggest disappointment was their charcuterie. Taste, consistency, and coloring was unappealing in all possible ways. Really wanted to luv this place...(sigh)

What an excellent meal. We have been here three times previously -- and frankly with very mixed results -- but this time everything was wonderful. Our server, Tamara, was extremely knowledgable and offered helpful suggestions. I asked her which salad should I get and her suggestion was spot on. It was delicious. The food can be a bit pricey but my wife and I had all we could eat and drink (iced tea) for around $55. The atmosphere/ambiance is wonderful. I'm really glad that we gave the Loft another chance!

Pre-review caveat: I'm coming from the SF Bay Area, where food quality is prized over cost, ambiance, service, and portion size. Reading the low-star reviews for this place is a trip... so many complaints about cost and portions. My rating is based mostly on the food. My mom and I came here and worked up quite an appetite on the self-guided tour of the property, which was very nice. When we came to eat, the main dining room was empty and they seated us on the porch; right after we ordered, the dining hall was seated with a company that booked the whole room. Despite this, we got our food quickly and we noticed that the people on their dining room did as well - that's really impressive service. We split the special panzanella salad, which was quite good and incredibly satisfying as an appetizer for us. Exactly when we finished the salad, the meal was brought out. The chicken wrap was only okay - each component was good, but overall it didn't hit the spot for me or my mom. But the market pasta sealed this place in a four star rating (the pasta itself is a five star dish). It was delicious - the flavors and textures were perfectly balanced, with ribbons of vegetables mixed in with the housemade fresh pasta and all covered in a white wine butter sauce. The ice cream was also tasty - we got chocolate and caramel apple. We didn't get the toffee topping that was recommended to us, but when we went down to the store we saw that it was a really good looking toffee almond crumble that we probably should have taken them up on. A nice touch that this place has are the sea salt and kelp grinders at the table- they have a really nice flavor to them. Overall, based on a combination of our experience and the other yelp reviews I read, this place has great service and really high quality ingredients that often go into fantastic dishes and sometimes into merely ok ones (perhaps the chefs could work on bringing all the dishes up to the level of their market pasta). If you don't like paying much money for your food, don't come here (or anywhere, for that matter) expecting to suddenly start caring about food quality just because you paid more for your food.

What a great place for lunch. A wonderful combination of rustic country and good home cooking. My beet salad had an excellent combination of tender, farm fresh lettuce with crispy, tender multi-colored beets but the best part was the fresh cheese. Nice combo. Top off the meal with smooth coffee and rich, creamy ice cream. No room for fresh pie but tempted by my neighbor's slice - flakey crust covering beautiful berries.

Went with my 2 sons who can be a little skeptical of my "slow food" choices. Result: start-to-finish delicious meal, spectacular flavors! Will definitely be back... another reason to hope my son gets into IU so we can stop in on the way in from the Chicago area! Service was a little pokey but forgiveable b/c the waiter had a huge set of tables on a busy late Wed night, and because the quality of the food was worth it!! Nice beer selection too. YUM

I was very pleased for my first visit to the loft. I will certainly return. I had the roasted cauliflower and quinoa accompanied with some of the best local beer choices available in Indy. They even had a steady supply of Three Floyd's. The food was great. Deliciously prepared and even had the service to match. Perfect for a special occasion with family or a date night. Local musicians playing in the corner make for an all around enjoyable evening. Table for two was a little small. But if that is your only complaint they are doing alright. Will return. Do yourself a favor and save room for the ice cream.

This is my first visit here. I ordered the soup which was a pork and bean broth type soup and it was excellent. For entree I ordered the salmon and watercress salad. It was great until I saw a long blond hair on cheese in the salad. This is the reason for my 2 star rating. I would have complained and returned the salad except when I discovered this I was already 3/4 finished with the salad. Also I was so hungry by the time I got to this place because of all the road detours. It was probably the hair of the girl who brought me my food. I have to admit the place is refreshing from the normal Indy restaurant, the ambience is great. I am not sure if I will come back but maybe this place deserves a second chance. We will see.

We've had a few exceptional meals here before, including a Valentine's Day dinner 5 years ago on the night we were married. We went back this year for our anniversary and were a bit disappointed. While not opposed to prix fixe being the only option, it was overpriced for the food and atmosphere provided. I don't hold flavor choices against the chef if the descriptions of the dishes are fair (and they were), so I won't complain about items I picked that weren't my favorite, but the beef was hard to chew and that was unpleasant. In addition, the dining room was JAM PACKED with tables that wobbled and chairs that were uncomfortable. Our server was pleasant but maybe stretched thin because she gave us way too long to look at a menu that had only three choices. In addition, I mentioned in the reservation and during the phone confirmation that it was our anniversary and we specifically chose The Loft because we ate there on our wedding night, so a "Happy Anniversary" by the hostess would've been a nice touch. We might return for a brunch or lunch at some point but not for a special occasion and certainly not for a prix fixe option. I'm truly sorry to say that but for $49/person I'd like to have more than nibbles, sit in something better than lawn furniture, and feel the least bit special as a patron.

We love the Loft! Been here several times and haven't been disappointed! The fish options are always fresh and delicious! We can't go without a beautiful Cheese Board to start our meal. There's something very nice and reassuring about the food being local, organic and farm raised. We will be back and we always bring our guests here!

My husband and I had dinner at The Loft restaurant. Very nice ambiance and loved that its a working dairy farm. As far as the meal went it was ok and did not live up to the extreme price point ($$$) in my opinion. The best thing we had was the cheese board, which I highly recommend. I had the pork chop which was dry and lacked flavor. My husband had the New York strip and it was good but not great. For dessert we tried the chocolate cake with ice cream which the server said was so moist and delicious, etc. not sure if she knew what the word moist meant? It was dry as all get out... Thank goodness for the good ice cream to help wash it down. When we return I think we will just stick to the dairy bar from now on

*100th Yelp Review for 2013!!!* Ahem, okay. This. Place. Rules. First of all it is super cute and rustic. The loft is great, I love the ambiance. I came here to eat with my husband, we brought my mom while she was in town visiting. Let me first get this out of the way...OMG. Cheese. Alright I feel better now. Seriously good. The farm burger is delicious. My water was served in a mason jar. We happened to come just as a torrential downpour started. This was the perfect refuge to eat tasty food in a warmly lit and lovely environment, while we waited for it to pass. Best part? Caramel ice cream for dessert brought to us in a take-out pint. That ice cream was divine. I'll be back for you Loft. Yum. Thanks for the mid-week pick me up!

We came here for Valentines Day. 3 course meal with wine pairings. Annette had parsnip apple soup that was a awesomely uniquely flavored and I had sea bass over navy beans and kale. All that we had was good and the atmosphere in the barn restaurant is very warm and romantic. We will do this place again!!!

I am confused by the reviews because Yelp is typically a good indicator of how your encounter will be. I went on a Sunday and had a great experience here. The farm is beautiful and on a slight hill that almost reminds me of Vermont. The restaurant itself is cozy and inviting. Our server was great, very friendly and knowledgeable. The one thing Yelp reviewers got right - start with the cheese board. It's filling and phenomenal. They have a great house-made fig jam that we enjoyed along with the five cheeses. For dinner, I had the quinoa cakes that come with a side of seasonal (winter) vegetables. The quinoa cakes were delicious and more filling than I expected, and the roasted vegetables were a nice balanced addition. I really enjoyed my experience here and will definitely return, hopefully when the weather is nice!

For being local and organic food, it could have been A LOT better! Stick to just the dairy products (shakes, yogurt, cheese plate, etc.) here and you will very satisfied. The meals were very disappointing.

I don't know what all of the negative reviews are about. I took some family members from out of town here for breakfast this morning and we had a wonderful experience! First of all, the decor and ambience is amazing. Our waitress told us the story of how the barns were built and rebuilt. I love that everything is organic and you know the ingredients are quality. The food was phenomenal! I had the baked eggs... Delicious! I don't really like cheese and didn't realize there was cheese in them, but they still tasted great and full of flavor. My boyfriend had biscuits and gravy, my mom had an omelet, his mom had French toast, and both of our dads had the steak and eggs. No complaints from anyone! Everything was really well flavored! It is a little pricy for breakfast, but definitely worth it since the quality is outstanding. The little shop downstairs is great. We will definitely be back in the summer to try some ice cream and milkshakes and to take a tour!

My wife and I took her best friend to dinner at the Loft on Friday night and experienced the worst service we have had in any restaurant, let alone a very expensive one, in many years. Our friends arrived first and had at least gotten water by the time we arrived. It took the staff at least another 10-15 minutes to bring us water and menus. We ordered wine and a cheese board for which the waitress said she would bring us extra bread (that never arrived at our table following at least 3 more requests). I had to reach to another table to obtain silverware for one of our party since the server never checked to see if the table was set properly. After another 1/2 hour the server took our entree orders (we were still waiting for more bread) and our food eventually arrived. Two of the three main course dishes were fine, but my wife's salmon was raw and she could not eat it. Our waitress never came back to the table to check on our meals and I had to track down a manager to inquire about the severe lack of service. Eventually the cheese board and the salmon were removed from the bill and we left to find another restaurant so my wife could get a meal. We are still waiting for more bread.

Had a business dinner her the other night with a small group. Atmosphere is great, quiet restaurant suited well for conversation. Cheese board & wine were also fantastic. Had the beet salad which met all expectations. Mac & Cheese for entree was great on a cold night - not a huge fan of the onions in the mac & cheese, overpowering in my opinion. Overall great place, we will be back.

If you are looking for a unique dining experience near Indianapolis, this is a great choice. The restaurant is directly on the farm, in a building which has the appearance of a large barn. My mother had a root salad, which included roasted orange beets that were flavored with a wonderfully fragranced orange vinaigrette. I had a very well seasoned, well dressed chicken sandwich. Prices are a little higher than you might see in downtown Indy, but are mostly justified by the quality and freshness of the food.

I have to say I was excited to go here but was dissapointed. We were seated at a table looking out at the trees, and we were served water in jam jars. The coffee was smooth and creamy and everything was perfect until I got my food. It was about an average of $12.00 a dish a little pricy so I was expecting perfection. I was served my eggs benidict and sausage patties. The poached eggs were a very small portion and the yolk was hard instead of soft. The ham was way to smoky for the dish. The english muffin and hollandase sauce lacked in flavor. I might give this an other try for lunch or dinner but if I don't like it I won't be back.

This one is hard to beat! We had a party of six (3 couples) and came for dinner at 8PM on a Friday night. The loft is rustic and loaded with charm. The views of the farm from the patio are great. Even on a cool night, the patio was very comfortable. There was music, but the noise level was just right for us to enjoy our dinner and conversation. The service was good but not excellent- our server was fun but a little quirky. The menu is nice and tight with a limited selection of high quality entrees. Still, there is something for everyone and choices ranging from mundane to adventurous. Try the yak! We didn't, but you definitely should try it. The meals were expertly prepared and delicious. Everyone was happy with their selections. Wine and share-able appetizers like the fondue and cheese board were spot-on and enjoyed by our group. At the end, we shared a banana split made with organic bananas and the Trader's Point freshly-made ice cream. It was excellent. All in all, it was a great evening. We left feeling full and happy. At least two gentlemen in our party thought the experience was so good, there was an outstanding chance of consummating the evening back at home! In the end, isn't this all that matters? Bravo Trader's Point Loft!

I think The Loft can serve up a tremendous dining experience if you stick to what they're best at; specifically, anything dairy! We came in for lunch on Saturday in December and were seated right away. The interior decor (heck, the entire layout of the place) was unique and cool. We started our meal by ordering a cheese board and some shakes and smoothies. All (particularly the cheese) were amazingly delicious! If only we had stopped there, this would certainly be a 4- or 5-star review. Unfortunately we continued ordering - most of us got some derivation of a burger, and another ordered a very expensive salmon salad that consisted of a couple of kale leaves and some salmon bites. The burgers were mostly underwhelming. All in all, the meal ended up being way too expensive relative to the overall quality (and portion size) of the food. But if you're hankering for some cheese and a shake or a smoothie - this is the place!

  • Nick C.

Newsflash! It is cheaper to get milk that was mass produced at your local grocery store. Hey it is also less expensive to buy food there than eat out. Tube socks are cheaper at Wally World than they are when they are handmade at a local market. Did you know that Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are more expensive than Kroger and Marsh? I digress... Also the place that specializes in exclusively organic, fresh, and homemade ingredients doesn't serve your favorite soda that is loaded with a bunch of chemicals. Huh? OK I'm really done now. It is a barn (sort of), but it has been remodeled and is very clean. The food is excellent, but obviously it may not be for everybody. This is a very unique place. The mac 'n cheese was top notch.

3/5 Oh, the Loft, how you could have been so much better! I came to the Loft at the end of May when I was in town for the Indy 500. We went on a Friday night and it wasn't too crowded, so we had some time to spare. So we walked around the little path behind the barn and got to see GIANT pigs and a beaver crossed the path in front of us! A BEAVER! After taking some pictures of the beautiful scenery, we went back inside. They acted like they hadn't seen us before and asked us for our name again...I think the hostess figured it out after a few minutes and then seated us shortly after. There was live music playing and the ambiance was fantastic. A large window allowed you to see all the rounds of cheese behind the band. The desert bar was packed and everyone seemed like they were having a great time. We were blown away and loving the experience thus far. Even the drive getting there was fun as you turned off onto the small country roads. +1 for the Loft. Once we were seated things started to go downhill. It took a bit for us to be greeted and they didn't have coke or Pepsi, so I got a root beer which was very tasty. Next, we got the cheese appetizer platter. While the cheese was amazing, the crackers that accompany it are too buttery and take away from the cheese flavor. I'd much rather have a thin wafer-like cracker that wouldn't dilute the flavor. From there, we placed our orders. My lady friend ordered the salmon salad and I ordered a bowl of the broccoli cheddar soup and the burger. The soup came out and it was heavenly. We both savored it and it was probably the best I've ever had. +1 for the Loft. Our food eventually came out and I was all excited and then when I took that first bite into the $13 burger, I knew I was in trouble. The burger had that charred, haven't cleaned the grill, grimey taste that completely overpowered the taste of the meat and I ended up not eating over half of it and just ate the bun and the cheese. (lame) My lady friend was upset with her salad as well. The salmon salad was described as grilled salmon atop fresh spinach and garden greens. We had assumed that it would be a freshly grilled piece of salmon on top of a bed of spinach and greens, instead it was cold shredded smoked salmon dumped on some greens. The yogurt dill dressing was delicious but there wasn't nearly enough to make the old dry salmon edible. -1 for the Loft. It was getting late and we wanted to get back to the hotel and just relax and enjoy desert while watching TV and lounging on a comfy bed. We ordered the blueberry basil pie and ice cream (vanilla and chocolate) to go along with a bottle of their milk. Our waiter had no problem with this and brought out the dessert in to-go containers. From there, we ended up waiting like 20 minutes as the drunk couple behind us kept blabbering out some very offensive material. Our waiter did nothing to excuse himself from the conversation and we just sat there minute after minute. Finally, we stood up and asked someone else if they could process the check and leave. This drew the attention of our waiter and he immediately rushed over. He apologized and offered to replace the now melted desserts. We paid and left. -1 for the Loft. Redemption came through eating the ice cream. (Vanilla was fantastic, chocolate not so much) The blueberry basil pie was lacking a bit. It didn't taste very fresh and the crust was underwhelming. The whole milk was also fantastic. +1 for the Loft. While we may go back, I'm not sure if we would give the Loft a second chance. We might just stop in for some cheese or ice cream.

My wife and went for dinner and some live music on Friday nights. Lovely grounds and rustic interior. They have added a outside porch and deck since I was last here which looked lovely. Mixed customers - about 1/4 families with young children I suspect drawn to the dairy bar, 1/4 ladies out for the evening with high pitched conversations and the rest couples. The two top we were seated at was so small we could barely fit two cell phone and sunglasses and still have room for our plates. We stuck to the specialties of cheese board, beet salad, fish of the day, lamb followed by ice cream & cookies and coffee. Their smoked Gouda was lovely, Brie excellent and the award winning white cheese was yummy. Served with freshly broiled French bread toast. Beet salad was mix of red and golden with pickled red onions like my gram used to make. Both courses excellent. Then dinner came to a screeching halt. Despite the crowd being average size at best with no waiting tables it took well over 30 mins between the salad and the entree. Our server did stop by to tell us they had dropped the fish through the grill and that was the source of delay. When both dishes arrived they were marginal at best. The fish under cooked with a watery orange sauce with thin body to match at $31 and the lamb cooked at correct temperature was tough as a shoe sole at $32. Very disappointing. Dessert was black cherry chocolate ice cream with chocolate chip cookies and coffee that were comped by the server. Ice cream was yummy, cookies average and coffee tasted like second runnings. Service by Bryan was excellent as he engaged in our chatty conversation and never rushed us. The wine list was a nice mix of less expensive easy drinking reds and whites along with the off list recommendations that were more expensive. All told $194 with tip. The chef came by to see how everything was and were were too shocked at the low brow entrees to say anything feeling especially foolish we spent $200 for dinner.

This was my new favorite restaurant. Seemed like great ambiance, loved the decor and in previous experience the food was fabulous. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was not up to par. My husband & I brought my parents there (since they were visiting from out of town). When we walked in, we were seated in the semi-heated porch area.... I was hoping to sit in the loft/lodge because of all the beautiful woodwork (my parents would have loved it). But that was fine. The issue was that we sat there for 10 minutes without anyone noticing we were seated there. We finally had a lovely server come over to our table when she noticed me looking for someone. She apologized and said that we were not one of her tables, but that she'd help us out anyway. We finally got some drinks and apps ordered and were ready to start the evening! We had just a few other issues during the meal (which weren't terrible, but due to the cost of the meal, I expected, as well as my parents, much better service and attentiveness to details). My burger was medium rare when I asked for it to be well done and it took quite a bit of time to get refills on drinks. Another server came over and apologized that she was actually supposed to have our table but got distracted and forgot we were there.... Interesting. I guess I'm glad for the honesty. :) The only other issue was that it got pretty chilly out in the porch area. A table behind us complained about it to the staff- so it wasn't just me. Overall, the food was good, the company was fantastic and our server that stepped in to help was very sweet, but, for the cost of the evening I would have expected a bit more. That's all!

I woke up Sunday morning with more energy than I anticipated happening on a rainy, wet day in Indy. My hubby and I rarely do breakfast out b/c we have a 5 month old and I generally hate bad weather, but for some reason, I was craving something different and we had no food in the house, so off to the Loft we went. I had been wanting to try it for a couple of months now. We got seated immediately and our server was pleasant, but not overly interested in us. They were busy but it appeared they had more than enough staff. It is a very family-friendly place. The setting is a bit different with aluminum tables and only moderately comfy chairs but they accommodated Max's carseat with a child's seat turned upside down and it worked well. The menu is small and it is pricey for breakfast. We expected good quality since the price was a bit more than we normally pay for breakfast and because so much of the ingredients are locally grown. However, we were sadly disappointed with our meals. My husband ordered the Belgian waffle with sliced banana and bacon. I ordered the Chicken Fritters and Mash. I didn't hate mine. It was well seasoned w/quite a few chunks of chicken, but it was not that impressive. My husband's waffle came out so cold that his butter barely went on the waffle. We sent it back for a new one, which was fine the 2nd time around. Our chocolate milk was delish! :) But...it was $3.00 for a 6 ounce glass, and as we know, we can get a whole jug for that price. I thought it was a little overdone especially considering much of their product is done on property. Cutting out the middle man USUALLY equals better value for money but it was not the case here. I have to say overall, I would give dinner a shot but we will not be going back for breakfast. Overpriced, mediocre service and below average options and food. It's unfortunate b/c I LOVE everything else about TPC.

I had been wanting to try this place for a long time before I got to go, so my anticipation level was way up there. All of my stars are for beautiful location and their dairy products which are AWESOME! But as far as the restaurant goes...MEH...is about as good as I can manage. I LIKE CONDIMENTS! Even on steak so sue me! I can understand that a chief might be a little insulted by someone pouring condiments on a steak, but only to a point, and that point is the cash register. If a paying customer at a Steak house wants steak sauce, give it to them, and get the hell over it! I'll return for Sunday brunch, but as for a dinner out...never again. Is not having A-1 really worth loosing a customer over? And the waiters face when I asked for it...uda thought I asked him to loan me money. Get over yourselves, you are in Indiana serving steaks in a barn!

In the couple of times I've been to The Loft, I've really enjoyed my food and the atmosphere there. Maybe even the atmosphere a tad bit more than the food. There's just something about going 1 road west of the interstate and watching all that "city-stuff" disappear. Suddenly you are just in this pristine, beautiful and peaceful farm setting where you can sit on the covered patio and watch the cows graze in the field while you dine. I really like it here, and I really want to LOVE the food, but as some of the other reviewers have noted, they just haven't quite hit the stride that would make me say WOW instead of "its good". We had brunch here last weekend - got there around 10 and I was happy to see we were going to have the patio to ourselves. A little coffee, a slight breeze and the baby cows in the field put me a great mood. Our server was on it, attentive and helpful with brunch recommendations. We tried the crab cake eggs benedict and the chicken and potato fritters. Both were solidly good although I felt like the fritters were lacking something that would have added some flavor that could have punched them up a bit - they were good, don't get me wrong, just a little bland. I wish I would have had room for a milkshake as those are what I would label AMAZING. Nothing here is inexpensive but since its natural and local, I don't mind so much. We finished up as a large party was seated directly behind us - good timing as the kids were a bit rowdy and ended the quiet we had been enjoying up to that point. We wandered out to the cow pasture and looked at the pretty babies sleeping in the tall grass while their mommies grazed. Anymore it makes me happy to see animals that are healthy and well cared for, and that alone is enough to make me want to keep giving The Loft my support. I'll keep coming back and hoping they step up their game a bit (and maybe get some slightly more comfortable seating). :)

Farm to table sums this place up in a nutshell. We came here for brunch and while the drinks were a little pricy for what you got, the food was very good (especially the mashed potato pancakes). Service was friendly and quick. We also found out that the barn that the restaurant is in was moved from another location that used to be used to store hay.

My wife and I ended up going here just out of the blue one night and we were both reply surprised at the atmosphere and the quality of the food. I ordered the special which was boar, elk and lamb not knowing the price. When we got our bill I said I would have easily paid much more for my dish. I can't think of anyone but the positives on my visit. The whole experience was great and I plan on coming back for special occasions.

One of my favorite places in Indy. I love the rustic charm of the wooden interior, I love the changing, comforting menu, I LOVE the chocolate chip carrot cake. I have always had good service and great food. My husband didn't get his socks blown off by the burger, but I had quinoa cakes there once and adored them. My girlfriends and I always get the cheese platter appetizer. It's fantastic, and I'm not even a big cheese fan. BUT I love theirs. Give it a try! Great wine list, but if you ask for something really special, they'll go above and beyond for you. it can get busy so don't go without a reservation. But go, it's great.

I went with friends to celebrate a couple of birthdays. We started out with the cheeseboard. Nailed it. A great assortment of cheeses and fixings. Had a cup of soup (bacon & wild rice, I believe). While this didn't knock my socks off, it was still a good soup. My friends had the other soup offering. That soup was better than mine, in fact it was great. Going into the night, I had all intentions of ordering the filet as my entree but when our lovely server offered the dinner special I couldn't help but to change my mind. I suppose it helped that the special was a surf and turf which also included a 4 oz filet. The surf portion of the special was a crab cake. They were paired with horseradish smashed taters and a sautéed onion and Swiss chard salad. Holy buckets, Charlie! Perfection. I'm normally a medium guy but our server relayed the chef's suggestion of ordering medium rare. I'm glad I listened to the experts. It was truly amazing. It reminded me to always listen to the chef. They (hopefully) have a vision in mind for their dishes and how they should be served. I ordered the scallops for another guest in our party. The next day she raved that those were the best prepared scallops she's ever had. Not too shabby of a compliment for a landlocked establishment! We ended our night with dessert that consisted of deliciousness. It was the nightly special of some kinda apple/pear upside down cake with ice cream. It sparked my groups love and memories of Autumn in Indiana. This night was of course spent with a bottle of red. I loved the wine list. I'm a sucker for Willamette Valley Pinot Noir's, so I chose the Four Graces 2010. It paired quite nicely with a night amongst friends.

I really wanted to like this place. A nice location in a rehabbed barn in the country. The venue alone should get a few stars, but my experience here just did not rate more than one. We went in for breakfast Sunday morning without reservations. This was quite daring, yes, but we timed it right and were seated in 5 minutes. Our server seemed pleasant enough, but we would later find she did not really care to serve. She took our order, then brought us drinks. Then left. For a long time. Our food came about 25 minutes later, which, was fine for the food but we had not seen our server since the drink delivery. She dropped of the food and left. We saw her again about 30 minutes later when she brought the bill. Never asked about the food. Even more importantly, never asked if I wanted a second cup of coffee or even a water refill. The food was OK. An omelet with mushrooms and cheese tasted like you expect that an omelet would taste, although a bit more greasy than I would like. Yelpers seem to like this place, maybe I had a bad experience. But for average food and poor service, it's a long drive. Pass.

Traderspoint Creamery makes incredible yogurt and cheeses. All things dairy - they rock, hands down. However I can't say the same for the food at The Loft Restaurant which is located at Traderspoint Creamery (TPC). Upon arrival we were seated by the hostess and given menus. The place was not too crowded at all. We waited for about 5-7minutes for our (friendly) waitress to come take our drink order (coffee should have been offered the moment we sat down...it was Sunday brunch for pete's sake). We told the waitress we were ready to order...she seemed surprised which I found odd since we'd been sitting there a while. I ordered the Slow Cooked Scramble. The menu description follows: Farm fresh scrambled eggs. TCP quark cheese, scallions, and a wild mushroom blend". I also ordered a side of "Stone ground yellow corn creamy grits". To be fair, my interpretation of "slow cooked" may mean something different than TPC..when something is slow cooked (in this case, eggs) I would think the slow cooking process would produce a creamy, perhaps fluffy consistancy. Not so. My eggs looked like an over cooked omlet. There were no "scrambled" eggs on my plate. The eggs were cooked on high heat - I know this because they had a brown crust....all over. Not what I had in mind. A brown crust on eggs? No thanks. They were also dry. Yes, there were mushrooms and they had a good, earthy flavor when I dug through and found them. The grits??? DRY, not creamy, as described on the menu. I understand that grits are a regional dish and people's preferences depend upon where they were raised. I am basing this on the menu description though...they were gummy and pasty...not creamy at all. I could not stir!!! The worst thing though: nothing on my plate...NOTHING had been seasoned whatsoever. It was a waste of calories and I left 90% of the food on the plate. My husband ordered: "Skillet Hash - Our TCP 100% grassfed ground New York Steak blended with Gunthorp Farm's sweet sausage, onions, garlic, peppers, and potatoes with two eggs on top cooked to your liking." He also ordered a side of bacon. The bacon was off. Not edible. Who, I ask, can mess up BACON? I guess TPC can. Something was just wrong...and please understand, we WANTED to like it. We tried...but it had an off-putting taste, like it had soured somehow, and we just couldn't eat it. His eggs, according to him, were fine. However, the rest of the items in the skillet dish were literally floating in grease. He did not eat it. We were both so disappointed as we look forward to Sunday brunch. However, most of his meal was also left on the plate...what man leaves bacon untouched? The Skillet Hash was $16, bacon - $6 Slow Cooked Scramble - $16 and the grits - $5 I cringe when I think about how much money we spent for such horrid food that we left on the table. This was not our fist visit to TPC. Other meals have been basically average and, specifically, I had book club there and none of the meals brought out were seasoned at all. Still, this is the type of place people WANT to love. It is so unique and the yogurt is AMAZING. Alas though, we are finished. No more meals at The Loft Restaurant at TPC. I look forward to having their yogurt which I can purchase in our local grocery stores. One last note: As we were sitting (without coffee/drinks) waiting for our waitress, 2-3 other staff members saw us just sitting there (menus closed b/c we were ready to order) and did nothing. We were not sitting at their station so we were ignored. That is so irritating!

I really wanted to like this place, but it just won't happen. There is just something fundamentally wrong with opening a lunch menu and seeing a $9 grilled cheese and a $13 burger. Their food is nowhere up to the standard set by their high prices. There are many other places in Indy where you can eat better quality food for a better price. The dairy bar prices remind me of the scene in Pulp Fiction about the $5 shake. The difference being that in Pulp Fiction: they were in LA, it was a huge shake (not a small), at TPC it is $5.25 (for a small!) and in Pulp Fiction they were making fun of the price and had kitschy surroundings. The ambiance is all mismatched. I agree with the other reviewer that said they need some farmhouse looking tables. Brushed metal looks wrong when you look out the window at tractors and cow manure. The couple of times we have been, the service has been just barely adequate. Again, if you are selling a $9 grilled cheese, you better have impeccable service. As a businessman, I understand the need to maximize profits, but until their prices get at least somewhat in line with market values I will not be back. I am not a cheapskate, but fundamentally in my nature I will not pay $9 for a grilled cheese and when I buy a $13 burger I expect to be in a downtown area where the rent and overhead are a bit higher. Bru Burger Bar does not even have a $13 burger!!! Pass.

Tried dinner, excellent! We had to wait 10min for a table because we did not make a reservation on a Sat night, so the guys hit the dairy bar: "omg, just like home made". We started with the cheese plate, which had a nice variety. I got the chicken, which was perfectly seared and the poblano sauce was redic. The pie was ok, the best part was the crust, but not $8 good. I don't mind throwing down $$$ for organic farm to table, as long as it's excellent...which 99% of The Loft items have been...but will skip the pie next time. Can't get better service or atmosphere, I absolutely love this place!

TPC is my wife and I's "happy place." We've been here numerous times, from times of extremely bad health, to amazingly good times, and no matter how we feel when we walk in, we're happier and more peaceful when we leave. Always. As others have said, TPC serves organic food, and only organic food. A lot of it is raised/created on premises. Their dairy cows are an old, unmodified breed, and produce amazing milk which they process as little as legally allowed. The food's not cheap. Of course it isn't. You can't really have 10# of meat for 99 cents. Not sustainably anyway. And not of sufficient quality to keep you in optimal health. Food builds your body. Do you want to build it with crap, or with the best stuff you can buy? :) Then menu changes often. It's always good. As a previous reviewer said, it all tastes GOOD. The chicken actually has flavor; it doesn't "taste like chicken" (modern-speak for "has no taste.). The service is always good, friendly, and welcoming. Some of the best we've received! Jane runs an amazing farm and business. Support her, she's doing "Bob"'s work.

I believe deeply in locally-sourced food, but I will try to be as objective as possible. So, 5 stars for the concept... but what about the execution? Beautiful grounds - garden, pasture, cows grazing as you walk up. (If you think cows are yucky, well then, hopefully you are a vegetarian and call before you arrive to see if they are in a different pasture!) Sitting on the deck was pure bliss. Indoor atmosphere - rustic, lots of wood and open space. High ceilings and a great view of the cheese room. A+ there. Drinks - small but carefully chosen beer list. As a visitor to Indy I saw several new beers I'd never had before. But maybe you locals won't be as impressed. Wine list looked decent, tho also not huge. Food - Get the cheese platter. Seriously, don't even come if you aren't going to get the cheese platter. It's a CREAMERY. And it's delicious. Entrees are pricey, but when the beef is raised in the back yard, it's time to put away your Sam's Club card an really savor every bite of the expensive beef in front of you. They aren't gouging you, that's how much it really costs when beef isn't grown on freshly cut rainforest in Uruguay... OK, sorry, I will step off my soapbox long enough to say THE MAC 'N' CHEESE IS AWESOME! (remember: creamery) Dessert - the pies are apparently made by someone who makes pies for only them and guards the recipe like nuclear secrets. Or, at least that's why my waitress said. The crust is definitely delicious. Also, the ice cream is wonderful. (creamery) If the market closes by the time you close out, you can ask your server to add items to your bill and walk out with cheese, yogurt, milk, etc... Again, it isn't Sam's Club pricing, but I can say this is milk I actually drink plain (after gagging and giving up on Supermarket Milk 25 years ago...) And it sweetens your coffee without needing honey. Or whatever chemical people are calling sugar these days... So, yes, I am a fanboy, but everyone I have brought with me has raved, and not all of them share my hoity-toity ideals. BONUS: As you drive up Moore road, there is a sign for "Produce grown by us!" down a side street. Go there. There is an honor box and a fruit stand. We've had cantaloupe, squash, watermelon and leeks from there. Perfect! Also scored an entire box of canning tomatoes for like $5! That made over ten pints of paste. $5 buys 6oz of paste at Whole Foods... Amazing. Ok, so yes, we make our own tomato paste. That shouldn't affect your believing my review in the slightest.

Yada yada local sourced produce and meats...I get it. Flavors solidly good BUT for the price my eyes shoulda been rollin behind my head which they didn't. Should be getting three stars but I liked Thursday half price bottles of wine, the lighting and timber rafters.

I wish they had this place in Erie, PA. It was wonderful and its how country eating should always be. This is one of the very best places I have visited in a very long time. The staff was excellent and gave me a tour of what makes this place tick. They are well known and have awards to prove how good they are. Make a list and make sure this place is on it.

A cheese lovers dream! The Spinach Artichoke Dip with their Fromage Blanc cheese is to die for! So worth blowing one's diet if that's a concern for you. Hands down, anything on their menu that has cheese will please please please you! In fact, if your gastric process can handle it, order every cheese dish. You won't be sorry just very full. For my main dish I felt a bit let down. I had such high hopes for farm fresh yummy food which I did get but it wasn't all cooked right. My steak, The Carpetbaggers, was most certainly NOT medium rare as I had ordered it. It was a firm medium but the green beans were great! I know, we all care more about how our steak is cooked than the veggies right? My friend had the Chicken and Noodles main dish which was full of creamy comfort goodness. If I could tolerate chicken or that much dairy I would have sent my steak back **gasp** and ordered his dish. The desert, come on, it's Traders Point, it's as good as you think it would be! I had a scoop of ice cream in coffee and it was divine. Simply divine. The Peach Pie, or Cobbler, whatever, was again...divine. You could taste the sweetness of the fruit, the butter in the pie crust, the full fat in the creamy ice cream....just awesome. If you want to blow your diet, do it right, do it well, do it here. Just stay away from beef dishes, it's not their strong point. Order something else and make it creamy!

Swing and a big miss. This is the worst value in a restaurant I've ever seen, combined with the worst service and uncomfortable chairs. Don't waste your money folks. They were out of chocolate milk, blackberry ice cream, have a very limited "brunch" menu and everything is high priced and low choice. Even the parking lot is a mess. They have a crappy bathroom and noisy atmosphere. Took over 2 hours with reservation. The waiter barely visited us, and we waited for 15 minutes before they said they were out of ice cream. How does a dairy farm which produces milk and ice cream run out? Lousy. Just lousy.

I love that The Loft takes something quintessentially Indiana - a dairy farm - and makes it unpretentiously cool. What's cool about it? It's an organic grass-fed dairy farm. It's the ultimate in local food, with an emphasis on quality. It's a beautiful, airy, rustic space with some lovely design touches like an open view of the cheese shelves and water served in Bell jars. The menu is simple and is filled with fresh, delicious comfort food. I wish there were more options for vegetarians - we usually cobble a meal together with veggie sides, but the meal doesn't always feel balanced (we need protein!). Brunch is better than dinner. The staff is always friendly, although the last time I was there the waitress was almost comically spacey and if she hadn't been so cheerful and earnest her forgetfulness may have been less endearing. TPC and The Loft has great potential to foster a sense of community - I love Nic B.'s idea for community tables - and I'm excited to see what it's like in the summer.

  • Morgan V.

First, I want to say that I love this place in general and what it brings to the community. A real farm-to-table experience in a lovely dining room with great service and delicious food - it's the total package. The wait and kitchen staff were really understanding about my dietary restrictions, and they worked with me to find something I'd like that was still safe for me to eat (if you have food allergies, you know how awesome this is). The only downside is the price: brunch, coffee and ice cream for two came out to just under $70 with tip, which I consider a bit steep compared to other places in the area of similar caliber. The Loft is great for a splurge or a special occasion, but it's not somewhere you'll find me every weekend. I can be found frequently at the Dairy Bar, however - best ice cream in the city (maybe the world).

  • Nic B.

I've got to agree with the reviewer above, this place has a lot of potential, but has yet to live up to it. The rough hewn beams and old barn siding make for a great space, but the brushed aluminum tables and furnishings don't compliment the setting all that well. I'd love to see some large wooden community style tables in a a place like this. That being said our meal was delicious. I ordered the Mac 'N Cheese - it was divine. Well prepared and a nice highlight of some farm fresh ingredients. The Roasted Veggie Sandwich was equally enjoyable. Ratatouille was mehh, just ok. Trader's Point Creamery is a great Indianapolis establishment, and if you haven't checked it out yet make sure to put it on your to-do list. The dinner menu seems a bit chaotic, and it'd be nice to see the restaurant develop a bit more focus - they have a great opportunity to highlight local seasonal food and I'd love to seem them push that further.

I was shopping for cheese around Indy and decided I would just head upstairs at Trader's Point Creamery for lunch at the Loft. It took a couple of minutes to get a response from my standing at the top of the stairs right next to the "Please wait to be seated" sign. I ordered their Mac-n-Cheese, which also included bits of chicken and bacon. While it smelled good, and looked fantastic, my food came out with suspicious rapidity. Indeed, it was hardly warm. Rats. Some of the noodles were dry, which is a bad sign too. Also, I am no opponent to dark meat, but some of the chicken possessed quite a bit more than the customarily accepted amount of connective tissue. I was in a bit of a hurry, and after waiting 3 minutes (not a long time, I know) for a chance to discuss it with my server, I just ate it. It was pretty good lukewarm anyway. I really enjoyed the flavor of the Trader's Point Creamery (where the Loft is a component Restaurant) whole milk as well as a cup of their plain yogurt. They clearly have their dairy products down. The yogurt had a sharp bite to it, and it was really excellent. The milk came in a smallish glass, which is disappointing particularly insofar as the same milk per volume costs much less downstairs. I would have expected their milk to flow a little more freely, I guess. It is a fantastic space though, an old barn replete with rough hewn beams, etc. Basically, the place has tons of potential, but I must have hit them on an off lunch. It is a promising place for a restaurant supported by its own farm, so I'll probably be back. It is super easy to find, take the W. 86th St. exit off 465 (you want to go outside the 465 loop, not inside). The Creamery is like 3 minutes tops from there, and there are convenient signs along the way.

I went there with my husband and children for a Sunday brunch after reading many good reviews. However we were very dissapointed because of many reasons: 1. Despite its interesting place for a restaurant - a barn, this place a) DOES NOT have any good seating (hard chair to seat on), (b) lots of FLIES flying around and many pieces of food on the floor. YUCK!!!#%^&*( 2) Pretencious concept - TPC claims that they only serve "ORGANIC" food... You can only order coffee, $3 or $4 for a cup of milk and some other fruit juices. NO SODA served. Iced water is complimentary - thank goodness. 3) Ridiculuosly high price - $8 for Kid's meal Belgian waffle (half size) and $16 of hash brown with pieces of chicken, $16 eggs benedict... My bacon served burn and too crispy...aaaagh... There are many more $15-$16 meal on their brunch menu. It costs us almost $100 for the five of us (2 adults and 3 children) for a brunch meal.... We should have gone to Bob Evans and get the same meal for less than half of the price. 4) Cold attitude from the waitress and the entire staff at the restaurant. No smile and no thank you... My recommendation: skip this restaurant!!!! And we won't come back....

My husband and I ate here on Valentine's Day. We had late seating reservations for 8:30. We were about 10 minutes late, but were seated right away. We had a limited choice menu because of the holiday but the food sounded great and I was looking forward to ordering my food. But after I waited more than 10 minutes for the waitress to take our order. She apologized and said that since we missed our seating that she didn't know we were here. Odd, since I saw her walk around to the rest of the tables in her section that were immediately around us. We then had a 20 minute wait for our food. We were starving by the time it finally got there and probably would have eaten anything at this point, but fortunately once we got our order the food was quite good. The chicken and the steak were prepared with very similar sauces, which was a bit different, but they were both tasty and seemed to pair well together. I really loved the atmosphere here and wish our service experience had been better. I'll try it again on a non-holiday when their menu is more extensive and I guess we will try to make sure we aren't late for our reservation!

My wife and I took my 2 year old son to see the farm and he loved it. Can't beat the experience for the value ($2/adult, kids under 5 i believe are free). HIGHLY recommend for a family looking for a little "off the beaten path" fun. The Loft restaurant was great. Food was great. The best bacon I have ever had. My wife loved the quiche of the day and our son loved his eggs and fruit. Others have noted or replied to the fact that the cost was a little higher than expected. Of course, organic/fresh/local foods will cost a little more that going to a chain or eating in, but I do think the cost was a LITTLE high. $55 for 2 adults and 1 children's meal is a liitle bit more than expected. For the cost, you are getting a great experience. The atmosphere is great. The service couldnt have been better. They were very accomodating of our two year old. Service and food was prompt without being rushed. We highly recommend and will definitely go again, probably just not as often as we would like due to the cost.

I was not happy with my trip to The Loft. We got seated rather quickly for my wife's birthday with friends. Got the menu and heard the specials and was rather excited to get my order in. I was going to get the grass fed burger but decided to go with the meatloaf sandwich special as I could come back another time to get the burger. Well I won't be doing that now. Orders where in and I sipped on my bottled root beer and was happy. An hour went by and the waitress apologized because when the restaurant got busy the kitchen got backed up. Well I think that is the case at most places, but they still pump out the food. We finally got our meals and everything was wrong. Once we got the food everyone complained that the burgers and sandwiches were dry. No one seemed to enjoy it and our friends had raved about the good times they had had there in the past. I had also been looking forward to for awhile coming up and trying this place. It is a great concept that is just poorly executed. I love the grounds of the farm, the nice store where they sell cheese, milk, etc and even the farmers market that was going on as we first got there. But I just don't think I will come back for the food at The Loft.

Drive up the back country road to find yourself in another world at Traders Point Creamery, where you'll be absolutely delighted to find The Loft Restaurant & Dairy Bar snuggled in the top of the green-shingled barn. This building is absolutely stunning from the outside--but wait till you feast your eyes on the inside. All five senses are very much in overdrive when you visit this gem in Zionsville. Walking up to the restaurant, you'll find chickens wandering the grounds. Take a look over your shoulder and you'll probably see the cows out in the pasture. Yes, folks, this is Indiana living at its best. And you haven't even sat down to eat yet. When you do, it's hard to choose--so let me give you an idea where to begin. If you've never been here, you HAVE TO taste the cheese. Try The Point for a sampling of Traders Point award-winning cheeses, served with fruit and homemade crackers. If you're up for a bit more, try my favorite: the Grown-Up Grilled Cheese. I get mine with spinach and tomato. I can smell and taste it now. It's that good. And do yourself a favor: get dessert. You simply can't walk out of this place without sampling the ice cream. Heck, get some to take home as well. You'll be rubbin' your belly the entire drive home...and you'll be left missing the farm. Guaranteed. By the way: The dairy bar is open every day from 11 a.m. till 6 p.m.

The milkshakes are amazing, as are the cheeses. I'd especially recommend their Gouda, goat cheese, or garden herb cheese. The grilled cheese and mushroom sandwich was a bit salty for me, but excellent. The chocolate milkshake, on the other hand, made other milkshakes pointless.

I would highly recommend a visit. I sat on the screened in patio and enjoyed the cheese board and s glass of wine. I also tried the gazpacho and arugula salad. All were so fresh and fantastic.

Going to The Loft at Traders Point is not just a meal, it's an experience. We went on a Tuesday evening for my birthday. I knew this place was special but I didn't know that they went above and beyond on everything from their ingredients to preparation to service. The staff worked with my boyfriend as he planned a super surprise evening for me and 10 of my friends. They were incredibly patient with our large, talkative group and we were never rushed or ignored. Our server was very informative guiding us through the menu and the local sources for their ingredients from their own backyard to the local bakers. Our glasses were alway filled and she even kept our Cheese Board filled with warm Amelia's bread. The Cheese Board is a must have. More than enough to share with 4 people. The honey from an Anderson farm, still with the comb, was remarkable in flavor and texture and highlighted the various featured cheeses well. I had the Scallops with smoked corn puree, blueberry chow-chow, black tomatoes, sunflower seedlings, jalapeño hot sauce. It was the perfect amount of heat and the sweet-smokiness of the corn balanced well. My partner had the grassfed steak, cooked medium, herb fromage mashed potatoes, preserved mushrooms, béarnaise butter. The dish was cooked perfectly but was light on the mushrooms, which I understand since most people aren't fungi fans. The Loft is charming with a warm, welcoming ambiance. We even got to watch the rotation of the aging cheese in the main dining room. The accessible parking lot and entrance is on the back of the building giving you direct access to the second floor dining area. What a wonderful evening made even more special by the great food, venue, service and attention to detail by the staff. My boyfriend bought a dozen cupcakes from The Flying Cupcake (my favorite). While some restaurants and kitchens aren't too welcoming to outside food, the staff at The Loft not only helped him 'smuggle' in the treats without my knowledge, they also plated them beautifully with ice cream and presented to me. I felt so special and it was such a nice gesture. We will definitely be here again and I will keep The Loft on the top of my list for large groups or events.

Love this local hidden zionsville gem! Went for lunch with a coworker and loved my meal. I got the hamburger that was perfectly cooked and tasted as if it came fresh off the grill. The Cole slaw is also delicious. But the high point was for sure the chocolate pecan pie. Their desserts are hard to top. Cute ambiance and farm setting and excellent service. Big fan of the loft. Can't wait to try their brunch!

Nice to find a place like this on the North side. It rivals places like Bluebeard or Tinker Street in terms of selection and quality. Portions are reasonable...just right for one person, with the focus on quality, not quantity. The use of fresh herbs and excellent pairings makes simple dishes quite sophisticated. Nice wine list, though I thought that the prices on some of the wines were a bit high for what they are, but a good selection to go with the menu, including a good selection of desert wines that would be perfect with some of their cheeses. The ambiance is casual and an interesting mix of couples on dates and families with kids, but it seems to work. Service was friendly and informative.

I was really hoping for a better experience at the Loft. We came with family for Easter Brunch and while all of our food was presented beautifully in a lovely setting on the patio, service was extremely slow and many of our main dishes were cool at the time of arrival. Between the indoor patio and outdoor patio I counted two servers who were nearly impossible to track down. Not sure if they were also trying to maintain tables inside but they seemed like they had a lot going on. Drinks were left unfilled & food took a long time to receive. There were two guests seated next to us that actually got up and left because nobody came to wait on them. Nothing really seemed to be flowing well throughout our time at the Loft. As for our meal, after reading through what fellow Yelp-shire recommended we started with TP Chocolate Milk (milk of the gods as some would say) and the Cheese Board. Both were the highlights of our meal. Their chocolate milk is heavenly. So very rich and creamy, it could be a dessert. The cheese board had nice hunks of homemade TP cheese complete with fig chutney, sweet local honey, TP fromage and Indy's own Amelia's bread. Really excellent! My Eggs Benedict was exceptionally fresh and the creamy hollandaise sauce had a nice amount of lemon zest however the whole dish was served a little too cool for my liking. I would definitely return for that Cheese Board, TP products, Ice Cream at the Dairy Bar, and would love to check out summer events like Dinner on the Deck however I am not sure I would return for dinner or brunch at the Loft as it's pricey and service was a bit of a let down. But then again that cheese room is so intriguing....

Fresh, fresh, and fresh. You can't get any fresher than when you have the animals and grow the produce on your property. We stopped in for lunch and had a wonderful experience. I'll start with the positives which are the setting and the food. The inside of the restaurant is made to look kind of like a log cabin and gives a really friendly vibe. The other positive(and to me most important) was the food. As stated in my opening you can't get your food any fresher than this and it shows. We wanted to eat everything thing on the menu but decided on splitting a burger and an order of Mac and Cheese. The burger comes with comes with lettuce, red onion, garlic aioli, and a choice of cheese. You can also add mushrooms, bacon, or avocado but we went without those this time. For just a "bare bones" burger this was one of the best I've ever had. The Mac and cheese come with bacon, kale, sautéed onions, and bread crumbs. This was also delicious but didn't stand out quite like the burger did. One last food plus is fresh kids menu items. For those of us with kids you know it can be difficult to finds a place that actually makes fresh kids menu items. The only complaints I have are small but enough to knock off a star(would only take off 1/2 if I could). The first is that the service seemed kind of slow based on the fact that they weren't that busy yet. The other is, and I realize this is a side effect of all the food being available on the grounds, is that it can be kind of pricey. While our burger was great if you wanted to add all of the additions you can quickly get close to a $20 burger.

The Loft and the Traders Point Creamery that houses it have been my favorites for years - the only place I know where you can actually say Hi to the cows who make the irresistible milkshake and Fleur de la Terre cheese. Started with Sweet potato pear soup with a dash of creme fraiche - whipped savory sweetness. Followed with a smoked salmon tartine on top of dark artisan bread topped with delicate sprouts with a side of salad with pickled baby carrot or beet. Finished with a Milk shake, not overly sweet with delicious tiny flakes of dairy fat hitting your tongue. Perfect lunch indeed. The atmosphere of a rustic loft with s large window into the cheese aging chamber makes the whole experience special. Great place for a date or meeting a friend, although kids always find something delicious as well and are always satisfied with milkshakes or floats.

I recommend making reservations beforehand if you're going for brunch. They only have brunch on Sundays but it would be nice if they could add Saturdays as well. Lunch is definitely still yummy though (and a bit quieter). Notable Mentions: - Sparkling Pomegranate Mimosa - Grilled Cheese (really oily but delicious) - Chicken Wrap - Country Lox Benedict The only dish that I didn't prefer so far is the French Toast. I feel like the flavors and textures just don't go together well. And it doesn't come with a side so it got too monotonous. I would have preferred maybe half of the portion with something else for for a taste break. My boyfriend was disappointed in it and he rarely gets something he doesn't enjoy (mainly because he's way less picky that I am). I've always ended up eating on the patio but my visits have never been warm enough for the uncovered area. The view is really nice, especially when there's snow on the ground. I'm definitely coming back when the flowers start growing back in.

Searching through the area to find something edible, i stumbled upon the Loft on Yelp and I have to say it's an oasis of fresh food in the land of grease! I will hopefully never be back to this hole in the US but if I am I will go to the Loft. Maybe they'll let me sleep there too. Cheese is AMAZING, Ice cream is fresh as hell, and the grilled cheese was awesome. THANK YOU.

I visited The Loft for Sunday brunch and it was excellent. The food was very tasty. I had the traditional eggs benny with coffee. Someone at my table ordered the bloody mary which was very good, but a bit on the pricey side at $9. Wait staff are young and friendly. They can be a little slow at times, but that is the expected when you are in the country. This restaurant is all about slowing down, enjoying beauty and eating a solid meal.

Food was absolutely delicious! My mom and I stopped here on our way through the state. Though the food was fairly pricy, it was delicious! We ordered both soups, the pea soup and the curry. We both decided the pea was the best! Dinner was the beet plate and the arugula salad. Both perfectly portioned and delicious! Dessert was the pecan, chocolate ganache pie with vanilla ice cream a la mode. You can't go wrong with the wines or the coffees. And the service is perfect. We were well taken care of. We will be back!

The setting of this restaurant in the northern suburbs of Indianapolis is beautiful - both barn that houses the restaurant and the farm on which it sits. The "farm to table" brunch seemed perfect for this setting. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter how fresh your ingredients are if they are not cooked properly. This being a working dairy, we began with the $16 cheese board, and this turned out to be the highlight of the meal. The various cheeses were delicious, as was the fresh honey and fig chutney, even if several pieces of bread it was served with were burnt. For her main course my wife had the Waffle and Pork Sandwich, largely because it brought together several of her favorite items into an unexpected single plate: cornmeal waffle, BBQ pork, pimento cheese, fried egg, and apple butter. In terms of flavor, these items did not go together as well as she had hoped they would. No fault of the restaurant there. What was within the kitchen's control, though, was how dry and flavorless both the waffle and the pork were. I opted for the Breakfast Tostada, which included a crispy tostada, chorizo, black bean puree, fried egg, cabbage and radish slaw, avacado, and salsa verde. There was not much right in this dish - the black bean puree had the texture of refried beans and was grossly underseasoned, the slaw was sparsely dressed, the tostada was soggy and oily. When someone (not our server) stopped by my table to ask how things were, I pointed out the oily sheen on my tostada. She tried to tell me that it was moisture from the salsa. Ha! To her credit, my server came by and asked if she could get me something else but at that point we were ready to go. With such a beautiful setting and very friendly service, it is too bad that the food coming out of the kitchen here isn't better.

Always a relaxing meal when you get to sit outside! I enjoy coming here because of the atmosphere. The service is fantastic - you're never waiting for refills and the food always comes quickly!

My meal was the Mac and cheese with ground beef. To me it was glorified hamburger helper, just not my taste. With that being said, I would go back because there are ample menu items I'd like to try. I also hear that the Sunday brunch is exceptional. I'll be back to try it

This is a place that I try to visit every time I make it to Indy. My favorite thing that I've ever had there was their cheese plate! I'm anxious to try the charcuterie as well because I'm sure it's just as fabulous!! Today I had the Farm Cheeseburger with bleu cheese and a side of the veggie of the day - kale and brussel sprouts. The veggies weren't seasoned quite to my tastes - they had a citrus or vinegar flavor which I'm not much for. But the burger was great! The patty was wonderfully seasoned and smothered with a thick layer of cheese. I've sampled the ice cream in the past as well. I'm usually a chocolate fan, but I actually liked their strawberry ice cream more - it seemed to have a more intense flavor. From what I can tell, they always offer chocolate and vanilla and the other two flavors changes occasionally. Today they featured raspberry and caramel.
